Favourite Top 5 #MC30 1. The Rarities 2. Tokyo Dome Concert 3. All In Your Mind snippet 4. That memoir 5. Someone's Ugly Daughter
Most Wanted Top 5 #MC30 1. Her version of Last Chance (Allure) 2. Her version of Where Are You Christmas 3. Full other version of All In Your Mind 4. Michael Jackson duet 5. Her version of Someone's Ugly Daughter

GTFO (96,543)
by Todd from Sydney, Australia

GTFO is getting some love by the kiddies on TikTok at the moment. It's being used [as] a soundtrack for their political feelings towards the Cheeto in Charge.

"Wise Girls" was underrated. It is a rather enjoyable flick. But I believe the role of Rachel was the closest to the "true" Mariah she has ever portrayed.

I like Wise Girls too. Best movie with MC. That women trio was nice to watch, the role of Mariah in the movie fitted very well. The music ist also so good. "Make it go away", love the song.

Yessss. The opening of TTR is the opening of AIWFCIY. Can't believe I did not notice this. Let's give it a go:
When you get caught in the snow With nowhere to go When your reindeer is in pain And his nose doesn't glow When you keep crying out "Ho Ho Ho" And nobody shows And you feel so sad and low That you start singing to "Almost Home"... "Hero" said you're not alone Or was that "Anytime..." Oh who cares-ayee-airs You can make it through the snow
Anyone is welcome to carry it on.

I have to disagree about Wise Girls. That was the only role she completely transformed into someone else. I forgot it was Mariah Carey I was watching. She needs more roles like that. Gritty roles that are the opposite of her public persona and in an ensemble cast where she is a supporting role. The butt grabbing scene was the best scene in the whole movie.

When exactly did Mariah state that the success of "Precious" is linked to her performance? That never happened.

I agree completely. She really thinks the success of Precious is due to her acting ability. Lol. Mariah is a terrible actress. She emotes like acting 101 and is uncomfortable to watch in any scene. She was surprising in Precious because she was unrecognizable, not moving per se. Every time she does a cameo in some film, it's cringe-worthy, including the recent Halloween movie cameo with Bette Midler. Mariah had a few lines and even manages to flub them and come across as unconvincing.

Yes I agree with Will on everything about Mariah's acting too. But not with Marilyn. She was one of the greatest, a real natural talent. I just watched "River of no return" and the acting was great. She wasn't only a sex-symbol, she was a great and stunning actress. But she was underrated by many because of her beauty and sex-appeal.

I follow you on every point (to define Mariah's acting as wooden would be unkind to trees) but one: Marilyn Monroe was a bloody good actress. For those who haven't seen it, check out "The Prince and The Showgirl". She is magical. Even Sir Laurence Olivier said she was the best.

I can only imagine what Caution would've been (Butterfly part 2) if Walter produced "Portrait" plus two more songs to make it a twelve track album. For example (just for the imagination):
1. GTFO 2. With You 3. My All (soundalike) 4. Caution 5. A No No 6. The Distance 7. Giving Me Life 8. 8th Grade 9. One Mo' Gen 10. Stay Long Love You 11. Underneath The Stars (soundalike) 12. Portrait

One thing that I still don't get is how delusional Mariah is when it comes to her acting capabilities. I know she wants to be Marilyn Monroe (who also wasn't a great actress) but she needs to face facts that she's one of the world's greatest singers yet worse actors. Tommy wanted to shield her from it not from spite or fear she would become a massive star (hello he put all of the machine into making her that from her music chops) but because he probably knew how dreadfully poor she was at it with no raw talent. In her novella she still goes on about Glitter with that absurd linkage to 9/11 as the reasoning which added to its downfall and also all the editing of the original script yada yada - wake up. She tanks in it, her performance. Saying she got redemption because of Precious is then another rolled eyes moment. Precious success was because of the two leads and the gritty storyline. Mariah was a shock because of her appearance and she did, let's say better, than expected but she's wasn't winning anything credible for it. Wise Girls, again awkward performance but not unwatchable. Tennessee the same. Lee Daniel's is her mate so of course he will throw a dog a bone but where are the other role offers? Oh wait there is that Hallmark movie...

I’ll be shocked if there is a song collaboration with Ariana and Hudson. If there is I fully expect it to be an Against All Odds-esq with Westlife where they just record to mix with her pre-arrangements. It may just be a variety show with them singing her songs.

Contact me at mercyjames678@gmail.com. Did you order any MC vinyl? My Target Exclusive Merry Christmas vinyl came in the mail yesterday with the green, red, and white splatter. The sound is so much better than the first vinyl release. The Target Exclusive MTV Unplugged is coming next week.

Exactly. No one can deny his influence during the years he and Mariah worked together. Everyone always focuses on the bitter end to their relationship. Just because a partnership doesn't work out does not cancel out the success he had with MC. Both are talented artists. Both should be recognized. Both of them.
