So Andrew and I were arguing and he thinks my favorite four MC songs mean I'm depressed. 4. Through The Rain 3. My All 2 Butterfly 1. Right To Dream. What does your favorite four MC songs say about your personality? I put the u in for you Andrew. And oh fun fact about Andrew; he has no musical taste as he is moved by Hero. Vomit emoji.

For the record I don't detest any Mariah song. I'd sooner listen to a "bad" Mariah track over anything by any other artist. That's why she's my favourite. It's just when it's stacked up against Vision of Love, Always Be My Baby, Migrate (should have been a single), The Roof, Anytime You Need a Friend, Dreamlover, Emotions, All I Want for Christmas Is You, Languishing, Make It Happen, Vanishing, Can't Let Go, Fantasy, My All, Crybaby, We Belong Together, Lead the Way, Underneath the Stars, And You Don't Remember, All In Your Mind, Never Forget You, Honey, You're So Cold, Butterfly, Never Too Far, Miss You Most At Christmas Time, Breakdown, Slipping Away, Heartbreaker, Through the Rain, Shake It Off, Touch My Body, Ribbon, Don't Forget About Us and Melt Away, Triumphant doesn't hold a candle.

Re: The Irish Times and HIV (94,846) (94,848)
by Andrew from the United Kingdom

I am pleased someone is perturbed. It's a UK Sun article. For shits and giggles, here is my complaint:
The article, concerning Allison Carey, sister of the American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, contains the following quote as part of a section relating negatives about Allison Carey's personal situation:
"Alison, who is estranged from her superstar sister, 50, once worked as a prostitute and is HIV positive."
The Editor's Code of Conduct states:
12. Discrimination i) The press must avoid prejudicial or pejorative reference to an individual's... physical or mental illness or disability.
Allison Carey's HIV status is a matter of public record. However, its inclusion in the article is prejudicial, designed to portray the subject in a negative way. The clear inference is that living within HIV is a negative and shameful thing, relating it to bad character. There is no evidence that the subject's HIV status is linked to, or a direct result of, prostitution. The article is suggestive in linking the two - with negative intent.
HIV is a physical illness. This article is therefore prejudicial to persons living with the illness and is, thus, in breach of Section 12.i) of the Code.
The Editor's Code if Conduct also states:
12. Discrimination ii) Details of an individual's race... physical or mental illness or disability must be avoided unless genuinely relevant to the story.
The article concerns the subject's legal action against her mother for alleged child abuse. The inclusion of a subject's illness should only be included where directly relevant to the subject matter of the article.
The subject's HIV status is not relevant to the story and is, thus, in breach of Section 12.ii) of the Code.
The consequences of this type of prejudicial and irrelevant commentary are the perpetuatation of stigma and the incitement of fear of, and hatred towards, persons living with HIV, which often leads to physical and/or verbal abuse. It can also be detrimental to mental health resulting in depression, self harm and suicide. This article has caused me offense and distress.

I couldn't agree with you more. Alison being HIV+ is irrelevant, I don't know why they keep doing it, maybe because nobody has ever been vocal about it on mainstream media. There are thousands of people who are born HIV+ and many others who gets it through many other means other than sex. I hope they stop doing that, but weirdly I only see that when they talk about her, I don't see it when they talk about any celebrity, maybe because they would be called out on it.

Love her and I am one of her subscribers. Such a unique character on YouTube. As a vocal coach, her critiques strike a nice balance between being too condescendingly critical and being too nice and safe. And she reacts to a wide variety of artists. She has dedicated every day of this week to Mariah in honor of her third decade in the business. She's just awesome.
I also really like Nina Schofield, who is also a Mariah fan, although she's more of a musician and comments more on the production side of things.

Apologies, the publication is Irish Sun not Irish Times as I stated. I have filed a complaint for breach of editorial code with Irish Press Ombudsman. However, I would encourage anyone to write a simple letter to the editor of The Sun to express dismay, if you have it, at the irrelevant inclusion of Allison's HIV status in a negative way.

Yeah you're right about the Lambily ruining the moment. Lol. All I heard was how Mariah was singing the hook on her own song, so much so that Jermaine or Randy Jackson had to explain that every song is different and they all come in different ways in other words, different songs have different structure and that was just the way "Triumphant" came. You think Mariah didn't know that it might be perceived like that? However you don't mess up the creative process during songwriting trying to fit in a boxed idea of how a song should be. I loved the song with the first listen and still do today.

Re: Triumphant (94,827) (94,835)

That's hard to believe. I doubt the record company would fund the music video, which was quite a spectacle, as well as hiring the two (count them, two) guest rappers for the song. Triumphant was originally the launch title for The Art of Letting Go. A Mariah Carey launch single is not paid from out of the petty cash tin. The moment radio, fans, and the general public ignored it (because it wasn't very good), it became a "buzz" single.
In reality, Mariah was more than likely ordered back into the studio to re-work the album into Me I Am Mariah. Had Triumphant hit number one, the album would have followed. Would we discount it from her tally of number ones, as it was only written for her ill husband? I think not.
Mariah is an artist like all others with hits and misses. I know, we're used to her usually being at the top end of the charts, so a flop single is particularly hard for some to come to terms with. But she is not infallible. Thankfully though her hits, currently, outweigh her missteps. You can't keep excusing these missteps as buzz singles, never intended to be a hit, etc. because it simply isn't true.

The Irish Times and HIV (94,834)
by Andrew from the United Kingdom
| |
|
|
"Alison, who is estranged from her superstar sister, 50, once worked as a prostitute and is HIV positive." The Irish Times.
Now this reeeeally pisses me off. Allison Carey is a mess which we all know and it does not need going into. But is her HIV status in the public interest? That's her personal medical information. I would strongly argue that it is not.
But more incendiary than that possible gross affront to medical privacy is the purpose of the inclusion of the information. It is seemingly included to shame her and, in doing so, all persons living with HIV as if having HIV makes you of bad character. This is pretty disgusting.
Shaming HIV positive people like this leads to a continuation of stigma which, in turn, reduces the amount of people getting tested for HIV which contributes to the spread of the virus, harming the health of more people that could be avoided. This is a really disgusting consequence of cheap, shock-tactic journalism.
I intend to now write to The Irish Times to question them on their treatment of persons living with HIV and I urge everyone here to do the same.

Jesus wept. "Mariah is the studio with JD" must be one of the most soul-destroying sentences to a Mariah Carey fan. This is part of Mariah's problem. She will never, ever be musically successful again unless she changes her sound and drops deadbeat has-been's like J "y'all know what this is - cos it's the same song we made two years ago" D.
So, I actually agree with Bill's tongue-in-cheek quoting of Brandon. Yes, we make fun of the repeated messages but B's sentiments were justified: why not make sonethibfmmnf aiundibg fresh and relevant? Why not work with Bruno Mars and The Smeezingtons? At least Mariah would make something different for once.

"Triumphant was the song MC never really saw as having a potential to be a hit song but her way of supporting her husband during his illness."
Okay, let's do it this way: please provide links to the evidence that Mariah did not believe Triumphant would be successful but released it anyway to please her husband. Just one link to Mariah being quoted as having said words to this effect and I won't call you a liar.
See, this is the problem. You delulons aren't just delusional, you actually make stuff up. You lie. And it runs deep - even into "predictions" which are not "predictions" based upon any evidentiary support, but just random guesswork based upon nothing. Again. And again. And again.
Why does it bother me so much? Because lies designed to make the delulons fragile world a little more comfortable and safe deny respectable and intelligent people the truth. And truth, above all things must be understood, uttered, and protected from corruption.

Undoubtedly pure tabloid fantasy, but this article and the underlying accusations [will] once again put Mariah in a bad light at a time when she started to redeem herself. Is this pure coincidence with Mariah's memoirs due next month or shrewd timing of Alison and her legal advisors?

Second that. I'd rather she worked with someone I don't even know of than JD. "I Don't" was the final nail in that creative coffin. Kyro is doing great things for the older divas, Whitney and Tina, call him in for something.

Please no. There's been enough WBT rehashes between 2005 and now to last a lifetime. Kick out JD from the studio and bring in someone fresh like Bruno Mars or the Smeezingtons.
