Article: Mariah tells Oprah Winfrey why she wrote her memoir (95,728)
by Andrew from the United Kingdom

Love the hair, love the make-up (little too heavy on the eyes but she just won't let go of this little comfort blanket), love the dress, love the look. How is this the same person that filmed that Mean Girls quiz or that God-awful STD video? She looks a mess in those. She looks stunning here. Beautiful.

Nobody should watch this. The video has been called The Meaning Of Mariah Carey for clickbait. It is a lie, preying upon people's excitement for self gain. Don't reward liars.

I do think it's hardly something to be celebrated when you beat people of a much lower calibre. Imagine Meryl Streep's reaction to winning an award in a category in which Kristen Stewart, Chloe Grace Moretz and Cole Sprouse were the fellow nominees.

Who are you rolling your eyes at, Nigeria? You posted a link to a sketch about Oprah on a Mariah Carey messageboard that has absolutely nothing to do with Mariah Carey. Even when most topics veer off here they are some way linked to Mariah. A skit about Oprah bears no relevance whatsoever and is just a complete waste of other people's time and a drain on their interest. People are rightly getting excited about the impending release of Mariah's autobigoraphy and album. Roll your eyes that way.

The award has been given out since 2016. I assume it's for people who achieved something noteworthy on the charts during the eligibility period? Mariah had quite the achievement(s) this year with AIWFCIY. Longest climb to #1 ever. First artist with a #1 in 4 separate decades etc. Taylor is the first artist to debut at #1 with an album and single at the same time. Lil Nas X beat the record for longest time spent at #1. I assume Harry Styles and Luke Combs did something noteworthy this year too, but I'm not sure about them. It's definitely not made up for Mariah, but I hope she wins.

Yes that is a great album as well but I prefer the more piano based approached of the first three. FTCGH felt a bit overproduced (Raspberry Swirl being the main culprit). But Playboy Mommy is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard.
But back to Mariah and to address the call out made against me for Boy (I Need You). Firstly, that made me lol, and secondly, I wish I could say I do listen to it and like it, but I couldn't stand Cam'Ron's version when it came out and my heart sunk when I heard MC was basing her song off his. The high pitched cartoon Boy refrain, the over production, the whispery vocals, the 6 minute length, it's all so unnecessary. When she squeaking through the 9th chorus I'm like (caps) just end already (end caps).
It's definitely grouped with Did I Do That, Crapfinity, Why You Mad, and Infamous. Whether it tops that chart though is another matter. I'm just so grateful none of the Nightmare Era songs made it onto any album. What a blemish in an otherwise great discography that would be.

Billboard I reckon made up the category just to give Mariah an award. She's their icon. I'll be shocked if she doesn't win it.

Mariah is nominated for Chart Achievement Award, along with Luke Combs, Lil Nas X, and Harry Styles. Not to demean these guys who are up against her but I am a little confused on the criteria used on this category. Can someone shed light on this, please? Thanks.

Me too. Looking In is my life's theme song. Such a sad song that really displays how miserable MC was at that time.

I really enjoyed the book. It was a bit overly political at times, but her stories of working the bar scene for years was great, and the meanings behind her songs was great. And the audio book was brilliant as she was a great narrator. As for my favourites, her first three albums are pretty much untouchable. I'd have to probably go with Under the Pink, as Pretty Good Year is my favourite song of hers. When it bursts into raging grunge for ten seconds, then dampers down again - it's extraordinarily moving.

It looks like MC will be talking about "Looking in". On her Insta there's a short clip. I can't wait to read the book, I'm more than excited. Right now it feels like I rediscover Mariah again. It's a great feeling.

Okay, the Someday part - the performance was awesome, but I always go for the song I like the least for the skip part. Which also means that if I don't have any skips, every track, even the ones I'm not too fond of, still brings something special to the tracklisting for me.
The Boy (I Need You) part - yeah, yeah, sure, sure. Whatever you say. I still feel like part of you secretly likes it - that subconsciously you know it's not the worst song on the album, let alone ever, but that since you have so gone out of your way on this board to declare your supposed disdain for it that you likely realized there's no turning back.
