Re: Snippets (95,698) (95,705) by Bill from the UK
Love the pic. Here We Go Around Again was the best for me. It sounded like I Want You Back by the Jackson 5. Mariah's heavenly 1990 voice. Just wow.

Re: Snippets (95,698) (95,703) by 123 from USA
Hey Edward. I heard the snippets and can share my thoughts. Spoiler alert for those that want to hear the album fresh.

I Pray sounds good from what I heard. This was one I had always wanted to hear. I'm told Paul was given Mariah's vocal reference and never released it.

HWGRA - The production sounds dated and the hook didn't grab me. The vocal is like a blast from the past, but from what I heard, wasn't a song I would miss hearing again. The same with Last Night, as both these songs have a Motown/Jackson 5 sound. Hook didn't grab me either and from what I heard wouldn't have fit Daydream, but I will reserve full judgement when I hear the tracks in their entirety.

Loverboy - Lambs will be divided on this one, as it's the most poppy sounding lead uptempo single of her career versus the more r&b, bouncy version we got. It cut off before the vocal really started to kick in.

Cool On You - A super short clip but sounded like a sure fire hit. Makes sense as the approach for E=MC2 was to only make singles and no album tracks.

I heard a clip of Can You Hear Me but to me, Out On My Own sounded better because of the tone she was serving during the Rainbow era.

The ballads will be the highlights from what I heard and for anyone wanting classic 90s Mariah ballads. This is your album.

I didn't hear Mesmerized as the clips were taken down by the time I tried to get to that one.

The Meaning of Mariah - first week sales (95,702) by Tyler from USA
I've followed Mariah's first week sales ever since I was a lamb back in 96. That said, I have no idea what we should expect for first week book sales. I've read that Jessica Simpson sold 500k since it's original release earlier this year. I remember she did a huge promotional push pretty similar to an album release. I realized with Covid things are different but very interesting to see little promotion planned for this book. The only ones that are aware the book is coming out are fans. Also, there aren't any leaks which is great but odd. It's released in less then a week and we have no content around the Jeter or Nick Cannon stories. Typically leak stories adds hype to a book release. That said, I wonder if Mariah is even concerned with topping the book charts.

Re: New documentary (95,696) (95,701) by 123 from USA
I watched this one and meant to post it. It's really good. They chronicle all of her interviews in what appear to be chronological order from her debut up until Music Box. It's almost like going back to 1990 and watching her rise to become one of the biggest artists of all time. I usually fast forward the performances but some of them in this documentary have audio from interviews woven it. It's worth watching and very well done.

Lead The Way - a vocal lesson (95,693) by 123 from USA
A very impressive breakdown of Mariahs complex runs in this song. A very well spoken and intelligent blogger put this together. I enjoyed his video. It just proves Mariah is one of the vocal GOATS of song.

The Glitter era - a documentary (95,692) by 123 from USA
This was really well put together. I hope she goes rogue and sends Loverboy to radio stations with a Drake feature. I saw an Unsung on Loyd where he was going to radio stations himself and providing them with his single to play and it started to chart. He made a statement that he thought that was illegal to do.

Re: Chapters (95,687) (95,688) by Bill from the UK
You jest, but the spread sheet is actually set up ready and waiting to be completed to track the differences. It will divide into chapters and then log the time stamps (audio) or page numbers (book) depending on where the variance is. This is why I booked next week off work lol.

"I will be turning the page as I listen to Mariah speak. I did it with Tori Amos' book and she had additions on the audio book not in the written book, and vice versa. I will collate any differences and report back."

Great. And if you find any, game plan is: I'll alert the Prime Minister, Eddie's gonna wake up the President and Randy's gonna handle the press. William, you must have them documented in a spreadsheet by the time the Western Seaboard is watching the morning news. Or game over, man. Game over.

Out Here On My Own (95,682) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
This likely was Mariah's theme before she went on to make her own with Make It Happen, Looking In, Close My Eyes, Outside, Can't Take That Away, Languishing and Portrait. It almost feels like it was written for her.

What makes this cover so special is its simplicity. It is a supreme exercise in restraint. Faithful to the original yet still different enough to be distinguishable. Nothing is overdone - no bombastic instrumentation, no background vocals, no excessive emoting, no unnecessary embellishments, not even the typical Mariah all-out acrobatic performance during the climax despite her penchant for pulling any/most/all of those cards one time or another. Everything in the mix was put there to serve the purpose of expression, and the end result is all the more effective and affective for it.

Now bring on the compilation. We're all more than ready for it at this point.

Re: Chapters (95,679) (95,681) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Ive pre-ordered the audiobook. Though an avid reader, I want Mariah to tell it to me whilst I sit back with wine and crystal meth. Except not the crystal meth.

Also, whatever happened to release dates being the ultimate reveal? Must songs and tracklistings and chapter titles and coverart be drip fed before the release? By the time the date comes around, half the excitement has gone.
