Stop. And it's from March 2, 1991. Ok, time to go listen to Emotions and wait until Friday.

I also caught that DAT/Mastering sheet. From what I remember reading somewhere, it was a song written (and registered through BMI) with Barry Mann. Most likely for Emotions.
All I have to say is that she better do more than just post these items on social media. There needs to be physical (or at the very least digital) releases that can be purchased.
I also don't want to be shortchanged by her lumping in Daydream25 celebrations in with #MC30. We need a remastered Daydream LP with bonus tracks/remixes and a BluRay release of the concert. She released AIWFCIY from Tokyo in 1080/HQ so I know it's possible.

I watched the clip about twenty times and managed to get a screen grab of the handwritten page towards the end. It looks like a mastering sleeve, with the following:
1. I Can't Let Go 2. So Blessed 3. Can You Hear Me
Is track 3 a never-before-heard Emotions B side? Sweet Lord please, please, please let this be the case.

Mariah's memoir (94,591)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|
|
The title is interesting. I think Mariah's memoirs is going to be more about describing how she feels about the situations she's been through rather than giving a play by play or "dishing" about people. This is about her life, not simply singing on stage. I like how she gave props to her writer and didn't try to ghost it and pass it off as her own. There's a certain authenticity to that alone. I don't think people realize the extent of things she's been through. I wonder how much of this is going to be dedicated to her childhood. She's always nostalgic and brings it up all the time. Even in her music. Introspective songs from "Close My Eyes" to Caution's "8th Grade". She even did a live concert from her old high school in '99. I hope Mariah talks more about her friendship with Chuck. That's got to be wild. You both go to high school together and graduate. Your buddy Mariah becomes the best selling artist of the 90's and you become the school's janitor.

I think your idea of her career is 1 dimensional. She will forever be the Songbird Supreme. History isn't rewritten and accomplishments undone simply because the person got older. Mariah seems to have moved on with the "breathy" voice people have been complaining about since Charmbracelet. The current generation doesn't know anything about young Mariah. So, it's really the old fans that are stuck on that vocal past. She can still create songs that fit her current voice today. She's still working with a lot judging by all the live accapella performances she's released. Although, today's music certainly doesn't require a great deal of vocal abilities to be successful. It also depends on what kind of artist Mariah would like to be going forward. I never understood why she continued with touring since she's not a performer and it doesn't do much for her. She likes to create, which she should be doing. I don't see Mariah ever giving up making music.

MC30 every Friday (94,589)
by Bobby A from United States

What is going on with MC talking about MC30 every Friday. I am just shook. Are we finally going to get Mariah Carey remastered on CD and vinyl with those demo tracks? Are we going to finally get all of MC's videos on DVD? I know she has something special for the Lambily.

Song of the summer (94,588)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
Where is the song of the summer? By now, would already have had some contenders. I think because of COVID-19, nobody is talking about it. Albums that were going to be released for the fall, probably won't happened at all this year. Sam Smith and Adele have both pushed back their albums until next year. Who knows when Rihanna will release R9? So, this fall may be the perfect time for MC to drop the perfect single. The perfect single would be something reminisce of Mariah Carey that made us become fans in the first place. I would love for her to record an acoustic version on Love Takes Time produced by Ryan Tedder to coincide with the release of The Meaning Of Mariah Carey. Can you imagine the first note - "I had it all but I let it slip away" sung in her current voice? I tear up thinking about it.

Yes, Randy I feel an album is coming this Fall. I think I have finally figured out who the male is that MC referred to last year. It is Maxwell. Remember, they were on a yacht Labor Day with Trey singing Prince's When You Mine. He lives in NYC. So coming to MC's Tribeca apartment would be convenient. Wouldn't it be sweet if we got a couple of tracks produced by Maxwell, Hod David and Stuart Matthewman. MC meets Maxwell and Sade all in one track. I really feel she is more focus than ever to give Lambs something new and fresh. Whatever new album we receive from MC, I would be happy to add it to my collection.

Re: Hopes for the memoir (94,582) (94,586)

That's a good take on it. I would possibly caveat by saying that
1. Mariah is free to alter (and for "alter" read "significantly lower" the keys and arrangement of songs without any shock admissions. I think people would simply and quietly understand that she is older and things change. I doubt anyone would even notice. Also,
2. Although it may allow her freedom to not nervously use lip sync, I think the narrative that is altered is the overall summation of her career. Once she admits to it she is no longer "the songbird supreme" but "the singer that lost the voice" and it is forever undoable. You can spend hours making dinner but add too much salt at the end and the whole thing is ruined. And,
3. Someone stated that she has another 10 years left in her career. I don't think so. Her voice has seen significant and accelerated decline in recent years that I just don't see another ten years of it.
Now, I am not saying that this is 100 per cent correct. You may indeed be right. But were I Mariah's manager I would have to hope for the best (which is your prediction) and plan for the worst (which is above). And I would also have to decide how to steer the gossop about the train for vocal decline, i.e., her own behaviours that you alluded to. For then she is "another Whitney" in the tabloids, potentially.

Depends on your point of view as to whether she loses control of the narrative by being open about the vocal decline.
It could be the opportunity to gain control of the narrative. Never again will she have to walk onto the stage petrified of the technical difficulties, malfunctioning ear pieces, and people "foiling" her. She can walk up to the microphone, just as she did on the MTV Unplugged stage, and sing. She'll need to change the arrangements of the songs, but that's a chance to be creative again and put a new spin on them.
It's an opportunity to finally be free. And isn't that what she's always wanted?

I like the cover with the earthen tones, on point make-up and tits not hanging out. It is a little on the over-airbrushed side, e.g., her neck looks ridiculously long she has not had that thin a face or waist in a long time. However, the image is not as cartoonish as most of her concoctions. It lopks classical. If there were an accompanying album, this would be one of the best coverart images she has put out. Your avatar looks like Daydream meets Charmbracelet.

30 years of a 50 year career is not a "short period of time". And yes, Mariah has achieved a lot, but not in the last 10 of those years.

"And that's probably it. If however it's a compilation of her sound bites and press releases since 1990, I'll be pissed."
It will be a whitewash that reveals very little. It is not in Mariah's nature to go off-brand and she won't risk libel actions against her.
And I must agree with Chicago when he questions the virtue of some of the potential reveals. If Mariah does admit to vocal decline then that is forever and ever the story and she loses control of the narrative of her career.
Were you to have controlled the content of the book it would probably be an amazing read. Alas, I feel like you are setting yourself up for major disappointment. Let's hope not.

O, Belgium, it is perfectly fair to suggest what Mariah should and should not include in the book. Cynicism is a belief that people act self-servingly and a manner of questioning everyone's motives. I am not doing that here, I don't think. I am probably being negative and depressing but reality often is.

The meaning of Mariah Carey (94,576)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |
|
|
The title is actually a reference from an article about Michelle Obama. I think that is where she got the idea for title personally but I could be wrong, and at some point she will probably explain the meaning of the title. As far the cover itself it does give a Daydream feel the only difference is the book cover is in color, and the outfit selection is Mariah Carey today. Honestly I am looking forward to final product everything else I have come to terms with and I know that my opinion will not change what is already done. Be safe, and enjoy your day Archives family.
