Re: Everything Fades to MCA (93,150) (93,160) by B from USA
Finally, something we agree on. I also believe that Mariah or a member of her team is a member of this board or at the very least visits it regularly.

Re: Anyone else listen to E=MC2 more than TEOM? (93,128) (93,159) by B from USA
I listen to TEOM more than E=MC2. The only song I skip on TEOM is To The Floor. On E=MC2 I skip I Stay In Love, Love Story, Last Kiss, O.O.C., and Bye, Bye.

Mariah only began incorporating R&B into her music on TEOM? Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Mariah always made R&B music? Vision Of Love is an R&B song, it topped the R&B charts before it topped the pop charts. Even at her poppiest her music was still steeped in R&B.

Her ensembles aren't as bad as they were during Stella's reign of terror. Besides she looks amazing.

I didn't watch the first season, but I did watch her sing Chandelier on YouTube. That's when I knew it was her. She sang down on that song.

Mariah's styling (93,155) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
The problem with Mariah is that she equates sexy with the amount of skin shown. She'll always go for the outfit that exposes the most amount of skin over a well-fitted more conservative powersuit, which I believe she can pull off well. But since she insists on the less is more approach, that's what the stylist is left to work with.

Janet has been covered up in the last decade and is somehow just as sexy as she was wearing next to nothing in the 90s and 00s. Mariah, on the other hand, has had significantly more misses than hits in the last decade with her wardrobe choices. But when she gets it right, she knocks it out of the park.

But these days, it's like, honey, I don't care if that dress is a 100k Balmain, if it makes you look like a badly wrapped whole sushi roll, then that label isn't worth much. Not everything has to be skimpy and skin-tight. Not even flawless makeup and phenomenal hair can make up for poor wardrobe choice. There are other dresses that aren't ballgowns or restrictive, ill-fitting ensembles. Pants do exist. Stilettos aren't the only footwear around. And no matter how expensive they may have cost to achieve, your set of rambunctious twin girls don't always have to compete with your set of actual twin kids for public attention.

Yup, her look during the AI era was so on point with only very few misses during the auditions, but everything she wore for the live shows were perfect. It was probably because she was specifically being styled for TV.

Listen, I'm still mad that Gladys Knight didn't win in the first season. Her performance [was] iconic. I still wish she would release Chandelier right now.

"And Everything Fades Away remains a veritable cornucopia of audible brilliance haha."

So true, pure brilliance.

"Anyone who doesn't agree is either dumb or American. Not that those two are mutually exclusive, mind you."

The dumbest comment I've ever read. I guess you've exhausted your complimentary dumb comment for the year 2020.

Everything Fades to MCA (93,150) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I have always thought Mariah or one of her people reads this board. And now that she performed in a short clip backstage of Everything Fades Away I am more certain.

It was incredibly recently that people were debating in that song here for her to pull this random European bonus track out and perform it so soon after when there are many more likely songs to choose from seems to much of a coincidence.

And Everything Fades Away remains a veritable cornucopia of audible brilliance haha. Anyone who doesn't agree is either dumb or American. Not that those two are mutually exclusive, mind you.

It's fire. It gave me Mimi vibes. It's certainly better than Lady Gaga's new single. No shade. Just saying.

Yes she did Anita justice. I wasn't sure when I first came across the remake because if how different her voice is from Anita's, but she did good. Another remake she did was Weak by SWV. She killed that one as well.

Yes I watch the Masked Singer. I'm still not understanding how Chaka and Dionne got eliminated so early. I've actually been mad since Patti's elimination last season. Lol.

JoJo did her own thing on Caught Up In The Rapture. It was a modern take with a cool beat. She gave it some swag. Such an underrated artist. She did the song justice.

Re: Everything fades away (93,144) (93,145) by RibbonB from USA
I've never heard of her. Lol. Did she do Anita justice? Have you been watching the Masked Singer? They've been doing the legendary divas bad on that show, first dropping Chaka and then Dionne within the first couple weeks on the show. I think they intentionally don't hide their voices, first because they are so distinctive and they may on want to appear briefly. I think it's great to see them on tv anyway since there are so few vehicles for them to be seen on tv and to those numbers of people. Anita's voice is ultra distinctive too, she'd be so easy to identify.

That IG snippet kind of makes me what to go give Everything Fades Away another shot. Kind of. They sounded really good. Lol.

I'm not a huge JoJo fan, but she's super talented and I enjoyed a couple of remakes she has done. She floored me when I heard her sing Anita Baker's Caught Up In The Rapture.

Sack the stylist (93,143) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
As far as the hair she has been using a wig. As far clothes I feel she should keep Michael for one of kind pieces such as big award shows, and functions, but she should also bring back the person or the people who styled her during Idol. She looked fresh, and fashion forward with doing too much and it worked.

Re: Rainbow interlude (93,137) (93,140) by enwar00 from usa
Coincidentally just yesterday I read that she in fact
did perform the Rainbow interlude during some of the #1 to Infinity shows. Here's a clip. I think it sounds pretty. Wouldn't you know, it was in that same spot you mention, right before that atrocious version of TGIFY. Did you think the shows were crap, or are you just referencing Licia's appropriately coined term to that song? I went to a #1 to Infinity show and really enjoyed it. It was so nice to hear some of those songs she hadn't performed in decades.

The retro-futuristic (disco) route (93,139) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Dua Lipa and Lady Gaga have shown with their newest releases that the way to move forward is by giving familiar genres such as disco a modern spin. They have proven to be successful in their approach so far, and since many of us have been clamoring for an upbeat Mariah lead single for a long time, could this route be the way to go? Or maybe if this approach is too brash and hard for her, then maybe still go modern disco but in a more twee, cheerful way like Meghan Trainor's Evil Twin? Mariah does the genre quite well after all (YDKWTD, ITC, Meteorite).

Re: Rainbow interlude (93,134) (93,137) by Bill from the UK
Agree. It would have been good had she done so during the #1 to Crapfinity residency, before she sung Thank God I Found You. As that song was just the chorus, it would have been good to flesh it out with the Rainbow interlude, which led onto TGIFY on the album.

The dresses are quite alright but I don't care for the bodysuit. It looks silly and out of place.
