Re: Variety in print vs. video interview (91,036) (91,040) by Licia from USA
The video interview was definitely better than the print. For some of the same reasons Randy pointed out, I hate the print. I couldn't understand why some of the stuff that was brought up for print. It wasn't needed. The video interview was everything. Y'all know I love Businessriah. I could sit and listen to her talk business and about the industry all day.

I'm one of those people who wants her to give us more than the standard stories in the book. I know there are moments that she can't talk about due to the legalities. I completely understand. The topic I won't be cool with her glossing over though is her vocal issues. I'm hoping that's a topic that she'll be open and transparent about. Of all the things I want to know, that's the most important to me.

Don't feel bad Randy I felt the exact same as you, as I read the print first and thought OMG she's back to being shady and nightmare era Mariah but when I watched the video, albeit edited, she came across much better and less... Crawford.

As far as the book goes, I'm here for whatever she chooses to reveal once it's new information and not a repeat of all her interviews, we need the tea dahling.

Variety in print vs. video interview (91,036) by Randy from USA
Ok. So I just saw the video interview they did with MC on her Instagram and I loved everything she said and how she expressed herself. Someone here was right. In print, she doesn't read as well as when you can hear her talk. And she looked amazing. I almost feel bad for saying she's gonna end up like Joan Crawford.

I think more people should listen to Alanis Morissette's song "Hand in my pocket" and keep on walking. It would solve so many problems. I miss the 90's for so many reasons.

Re: Variety interview (91,031) (91,034) by RibbonB from USA
Yes, because the interview may be more titillating than the actual book version. They need to hit it just right though. I get the impression that the book will focus more on her childhood and development of her career and I would suspect career highs and lows. She's mired in lawsuits and NDA's, so it's all touchy, lol. Not to mention that those blurred lines that I mentioned are that her Stella days are a landmine of contradictions if not out right hypocrisy on both sides. She has painted herself into a corner IMO.

Like someone already mentioned about the book, no matter what she includes or doesn't include in it people somewhere will be unhappy with it, When she leaves stuff out she will be roasted for not being authentic, for being too insecure or too nice and if she complains, disses or gives details she'll be called an angry entitled bitter and selfish diva. I am glad I'm not famous lol.

That's true. The energy vampires can be found everywhere (family and none). It's always good and healthier to stay away from such people.

Re: Variety interview (91,025) (91,031) by Musti from UK
Yeah I'm also a bit skeptical as to how far she will go. I hope she doesn't half-ass it like most of her interviews. There's too much to tell. Even with the TM situation. She probably wouldn't have mentioned him in the Variety interview if it wasn't focused on #MeToo but no doubt there are still many details she's saving for the book. Sadly I don't think Stellar will make the cut. Too recent, too many legal barriers. Would be interesting if she takes her on though.

Re: Tic Tok AIWFCIY (91,027) (91,030) by Norman from USA
Per this WSJ article about Mariah's Obsessed reentering the charts, Tiktok views don't count for the charts.

It's obviously still highly influential these days, however. I mean, the song did get noticed again because of it. A nice challenge might be in order for it.

I probably should have checked out the article section on the site here before commenting. The webmaster posted an article from Idolator where it states that TikTok views count. I'm not sure which article to believe, but there you have it.

As long as people don't turn into "me-me-me" persons. Far too many people are that today.

Tic Tok AIWFCIY (91,027) by Will from Australia
So apparently Tic Tok counts towards charts I read somewhere in relation to the Obsessed challenge and that songs reemergence - which got me wondering if Mariah's team (yes you that are reading this) is planning to start a movement for AIWFCIY to help make it No.1, if not, they should.

“One word: stunning.“

I totally agree. This look is perfect. I know she will look at it and be like some of the hair was out of place, but that to me makes it perfect. She looks so youthful and happy.

Re: Variety interview (91,022) (91,025) by RibbonB from USA
Well I do hope she has some reflection, resolutions and rebirth from some if these past disasters. And hopefully her memoir will be more than her blurting out the hurt. I hope it moves her to a better place with a more promising present and future for her family and her career. It's not worth people getting all pissed over excerpts though. If she's gonna tell it, I wish her the best, but I hope she's learned and grown from it. I would love to see how she explains the Stella error and the remaining remnants. But I doubt she brings it up this far and that's where her lines are totally blurred.

Re: About siblings (91,023) (91,024) by Tijl from Belgium
The relationship with our true self is the most important one in our life. If it requires to cut out people in order to remain healthy and happy, so be it. I can only respect Mariah for doing exactly that. We don't know what happened so who are we to judge her? There are people in the world who are simply toxic, soul vampires that crave on others. Unfortunately I have lived it.

About siblings (91,023) by Dove from United States
Honestly, there are people in my family who I don't speak to anymore and I'm totally at peace with it. My mom tells me I should talk to them again because what if they die, I'll have regrets. I honestly don't think I will. I don't hate them but these are people who don't want the best for me, they've been toxic as long as I've known them, I've given them a lot of chances and they've stabbed me in the back more than once. It would be crazy if I did continue those relationships. I talked to my therapist about it and she validated my choice to cut them out. Because I did feel guilty about it for a long time, since they are family.

So Mariah, I totally support your choice. When I was younger (even a few years ago) I didn't understand this and felt we should forgive our family and always keep them in our lives but I've changed my mind. We need to protect ourselves too. We matter too.

Re: Variety interview (91,020) (91,022) by Musti from UK
The only problem I have with this interview is her self indulgence. "My song", "Missy beat me", "not my best performance". But after watching the clip that Deedre shared, it's just Mariah talking like Mariah. Her interviews can come across bitchy sometimes until you hear her voice. She did alright here. And I agree that she has the right to be bitter. Plus, she's spent nearly 3 decades not really covering any behind-the-scenes details. This is why her interviews always sound generic. A rewording of all her previous interviews. But I truly believe that if there is one person in the music industry whose real story is yet to be told, it's hers. I am sure there is a whole ocean of information she has not shared with the world. We're just going by the tip of the iceberg. I'm here for the memoirs.

Article: Mariah on her fans, her feminism (91,021) by Dove from United States
Some people will have something negative to say about her no matter how she acts or what she writes. I think she should write whatever she wants the world to know about her after she dies. Otherwise others will tell her story for her. So far I'm feeling hopeful.

Re: Variety interview (91,016) (91,020) by RibbonB from USA
So many people in here were so excited and hopeful for a tea spilling, lyric describing, monent, not knowing that she might spill Earl Grey instead of virgin white tea. My thing is be honest, lucid. She has a right to be bitter about those siblings and TM. He sure talked about her and even "apologized" for his treatment of her. I still think a memoir from her at this time is a bad idea, but I do hope it's truly coupled with therapy, for her benefit as well as for her children's sake.

Who is Elvis Duran? Nick definitely was not coming for Wendy’s gig, he was creating his own gig and Wendy allowed him to use her platform to show his skills as a talk show host rather then a game show host. People vandalize stars on the Walk of Fame all the time. Not sure what you're digging for tbh Wendy and Mariah used each other for the PR game the same way Nicki and Mariah used each other for the PR game. If those where this guy’s jokes, he was simply jumping on the easy agism against women punch line; sounds pretty predictable and basic and wanted an easy laugh

Article: Mariah on her fans, her feminism and #JusticeForGlitter (91,018) by Marissa from USA
I can just tell by Mariah's tone in this article that she will be spilling tea in her book. She's tired of playing nice and ready to be authentic, which is evidenced by her saying that this is a cathartic process. She may not be naming names but she's going to give her all (no pun intended) to this project. I'm so excited to buy it.

Variety interview (91,016) by Randy from USA
I did not like that interview. It seems like she's back to being ditzy loopy shallow MC. She's not speaking to either of her siblings; she talked bad about some of her songs, she was late as usual which is what they started the interview with. And she's still harping on that whole period of her life. Ok you were miserable we get it. A lot of good things happened for you. 10 years after the divorce she wrote Side Effects. 10 years after Side Effects she's still talking about the side effects. And she's eternally 12 still at 49. Will she be able to be 12 at 50? She seemed to be all over the place in the interview especially in the beginning and I'm starting to believe she'll never grow up and is going to end up an old, bitter, eccentric, iconic, drunk like Joan Crawford.
