Re: Woah (91,011) (91,015) by RibbonB from USA
Nick is friendly with Wendy and his new talk show is with her show producers, so he wasn't coming for her gig.

I always used to have a look at the numbers on that site, and now she has surpassed Madonna again. Good job, Mariah. Try to find Beyonce on that list. She has not had big sales in the US. Only 15 million.

It is stunning. She looks beautiful and classy. I also like the interview.

Woah (91,011) by Ronnie from California
I'm not sure if anyone remembers when I brought up how Mariah's recent Elvis Duran Caution interview took an ominous turn towards the end. For those that vaguely recollect, as an Christmas skit, he gifted her a shammy for thick makeup, a toilet brush, and a for sale sign for her New York apartment.

Well, I'm here to say that there is so much more to the story. He most recently discussed Mariah and her diva behavior in his new book. Additionally, he will be speaking at Wendy William's Hollywood Star ceremony. There is no doubt that Mariah is tangled in Wendy's career (between Nick coming for her gig, TMB lyrics, Wendy giving her promo for albums and tours, the songwriters HOF scandal, etc).

I think it's also important that Tommy will be getting his star of the Walk of Fame as well. Plus Mariah's star was recently vandalized "stay dead hoe". Plus Mariah has been taking press hits when it comes to her estimated net worth (is this what the for sale sign was referencing?). Is there a war going because this is so coincidental and suspicious? This Christmas is gonna be a spectacle. Stay merry y'all.

Mariah on fans and feminism (91,010) by RibbonB from USA
Great interview excerpts. I finally believe she's having therapy. Her memoirs might be worthwhile after all. It's good when she's lucid and not babbling the same bubblegum bs that she sometimes does, while saying nothing at all.

Haha. That sounds like me, TJ, I played so much Mariah when I lived with my familiy, they all can't stand her. They tolerate Merry Christmas though.

Re: Movies - missed opportunity (91,005) (91,007) by TJ from Norway
Are you taking about Glitter, the movie or the album? Mariah got good reviews for her album but not for her acting in Glitter. The reason why, is simple. She can't act. She is not better than the other singers who tries acting, and she is miles away from the actors who actually can act (she is not near Whitney either). Mariah know music, but not acting. Period.

Movies - missed opportunity (91,005) by Steven Berning from USA
Something I have thought about from time to time, one of the only regrets I have for Mariah's career, is in the realm of motion pictures. She has done so few legit movies e.g. Glitter, Wise Girls, Tennessee, Precious, and The Butler. For all except Glitter, good-to-great reviews. That is a good track record.

I believe she has more natural talent than both Madonna and Janet, in terms of acting ability. Maybe, even, Whitney.

Unfortunately, the time has passed. She is no Meryl Streep, therefore, will not get any major roles at her age. Thus, her movie career has been relegated to cameos and voice overs.

A missed opportunity to capitalize on a budding talent, in acting, is what I see.

Uber unpopular opinion (91,004) by Norman from USA
I would really like to hear a couple of collabos between MC, J Balvin and Bad Bunny. I know, I know - I know how ludicrous it sounds, but I think it could be quite good. J Balvin and Bad Bunny have an album together that's pretty damn good, and there are instances where I can feel Mariah fitting in nicely.

Anyway. Just a thought.

Mariah's music does take listeners to a dreamscape. A fantasia of Hip-Hop beats, SAT vocabulary words, and whistle notes.

My mum would never win that award, as she can't stand her. I guess my extreme type of fan in the beginning of the 90's made my whole family, and all my friends into goats. I played her music all day long, with the speakers hanging out of the windows so all my neighbor's could enjoy that music.

I think your mum wins the mother lamb award. That is so sweet. My mom will still buy Mariah stuff for me because she knows I love her but she got really rubbed the wrong way when MC started showing more skin. No way would she read lyrics to me everyday.

Caution and Butterfly albums (90,999) by Bobby A from United States
I spent all weekend listening to Caution hoping it receives some Grammy nominations next month. With You and Caution the album deserves recognition because I can really appreciate MC's hard work on this album now. I was disappointed last year that the album was not promoted by Epic as much as it should have been. With You should have been a top ten Hot 100 hit. Overall, Caution is up there with Daydream and Butterfly in my books. By the way, I bought my Butterfly picture disc last weekend at a second hand used book and CD store called 2nd and Charles in an Atlanta suburb called Marietta. There were 3 copies in the bin for $32.95. I was surprised that they had even one. I am going back this week and I am going to ask the manager how did they come to have it. I am pleased with my copy. The sound and clarity is unbelievable.

Re: One of Mariah's most revealing interviews ever (90,994) (90,998) by Billy from Greece
Yep, this is an interesting interview and representative of the state she was in at that point in life, reflecting, evaluating, adjusting. This made me listen to "Charmbracelet". Such a complex and satisfying piece of work, on the verge of its seventeenth anniversary.

25th Merry Christmas (90,997) by Bobby A from United States
Will 25th edition be released in the retail stores? Target would be a great retail partner for the Holiday season. Selling the 7inch vinyl of AIWFCIY would definitely count for the Hot 100. I just feel Sony is going to do something special for the physical retail release.

Did you actually made your mother describe the inlay, read the lyrics and sing them to you? Somebody should've called Mom's Protective Services on your little lamb ass. I'm a little jealous though.

Re: Happy 24th anniversary Daydream (90,993) (90,995) by Bill from the UK
Bless you, thank you. It is one of my happiest Mariah related memories. Another thing she did that has stayed in my memory is I was staying at my aunt's house with my nan to "cat sit", and I had asked my mum to buy me the debut album on tape as I was building my collection (it was Summer 1994 so I had Music Box, Unplugged, and Emotions on tape). I had those albums with me and was playing them non stop. My mum called to check in on me and said she'd picked the tape up from HMV (big record store chain in the UK), and I made her read out the tracklisting and describe the inlay to me lol. She said things like "the back is gold with black lettering, there is a picture of her holding a microphone in the inside" and then I made her read out the lyrics every day I was there down the phone to me lol. I love her so much.

One of Mariah's most revealing interviews ever (90,994) by Edouard from France
I had never seen it. It's from 2002. It requires a little effort to ignore the German translation but it's really worth it. interesting and in depths look at her life. Mariah goes more into details here and she does it with simplicity and authenticity. love it

Bill, I smile every time I read the story of your mum buying Daydream for you and taping it up to the window so that you could see it on your way home. That's a truly special memory.

Re: Daydream (90,984) (90,992) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"Every time I popped the cassette in and hit play, it was as if I was transported to a fantasy land, in which Mariah's voice made everything possible." That's exactly how I felt back then. I miss those times too.

Because of Daydream I became a fan of the one and only Mariah. Fantasy was playing on the radio almost every hour. I recorded it on tape and I never heard a song like that. The beginning (magical), the happy vibe of the chorus and the powerful voice that makes you dream. OSD was the other "sensation". The video, daily on MTV and radio. It seems every one felt in love with Mariah at that time, worldwide. I'll never forget too.

So, I'll be moving to either one of those two areas very soon. Just out of curiosity, does anyone else on this board live there? Will I be hearing clubs and such bumping MC? Is this an MC friendly zone?
