I believe they were both done in 2003 or one was in early 2004. In one of them she segues into talking about going on tour. She says he can release what he wants, but thought the situation seemed "girly" like they were in a catfight, and suggested he take up knitting. I believe she was on tour for the second one at that point. One of the interviewers was John Norris.

I love Bill's suggestions too. I wonder why her record label can't release something just for the fans. Her early years are more than phenomenal and if I think of all the unreleased songs, demos and interviews I really wish Mariah would give us this "package". It's time.

After all the endless Grammy bashing she’s been doing, she’d be lucky to even get an R&B nod I feel.

That would be amazing Bill but with all the dissing she does for all the Motolla years and how that would force to face the fact that she’s over 30 years old herself - she might just pass on it.

Yeh but the Charmbracelet CD sold like, 1 copy so I understand why they axed the DVD. I think a wiser move is doing something for the debut's 30th next year. Here's what I'd release:
In a beautifully packaged collector's box or all downloadable/streamable:
1. The album re-mastered CD 2. The album re-mastered vinyl 3. The First Vision DVD - but also include both versions of I Don't Wanna Cry and There's Got to Be a Way 4. All official remixes for Someday and There's Got to Be a Way 5. Tattoo Club and Michael Bolton duet 6. Selection of televised performances from the era 7. (Caps) The Demo Tape (end caps) 8. That cute introduction interview she did when she started out that got released on some promos.
The fans would devour it.

I also think that won't happen. The Charmbracelet tour would have been so great on DVD, it's really a wasted opportunity.

Well, don't hold your breath. This is never going to happen. She was going do this for the Rainbow tour and CB tour back in the day. And they never did. And back then this would have still sold a little bit unlike now where only a couple of die hard fans would stream. So let's not get our hopes up too high. We'd only be disappointed.

With the category now expanded to eight nominees, Mariah definitely has more of a chance but her label and PR will have to really push it in the fall right before the deadline is up. Caution will have come out almost a year ago by that time, so it needs to be fresh in the voter's mind. It's more likely she'd be nominated in the R&B category.

Please understand that there are a lot of politics that goes into the Forbes list. Mariah not being included does not bother me because I know that she is living nice and comfortable and a list is not needed to validate that.

I want to know more about Mariah's net worth drop too. I was theorizing that there was an error in the either the 300 or 500 estimate. I was also considering that one of her major investments collapsed. Your songwriting theory is also interesting since now, more than ever, she is pushing for recognition as a songwriter.
I got chills after her Elvis Duran interview for Caution promo. At the end, Santa gives Mariah a toilet brush and a "for sale" sign for when she "sells her apartment". That urked me, God forbid Tommy has anything to do with this.

Maybe she is going to release a live album of the Caution world tour with some remixes. If she added a DVD to this I would not hesitate for a minute to buy this double disc package. Plus, the memoirs are also in the pipeline.

I think it was after 2001 as he was quite heavily involved in the Charmbracelet record. In his book, he said it was just before Emancipation (the chapter was titled "Don't Forget About Us", indicating the song was about them). He also claims that he was the one to sever ties, which is why she wrote that song ("just let it die, with no goodbye"). But who knows. The memoirs will explain everything I'm sure lol.

Mariah's networth (90,331)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|
|
I have no idea. I'm not sure how to even calculate that. Celebrity Networth had her at 520 million since 2014 and then last year they changed it to 300 million without rhyme or reason. Many inquiries were made, but no responses. A lot of lambs wanted to know why. Everyone else has since updated to match that 300 million stat. Whenever MC is brought up she's only credited as a "singer". If that's all they're basing it off of it's going to be way off. Songwriters and producers can make money off album sales and even more off singles, especially in the 90's. Mariah was doing both producing songs and albums on top of songwriting. She got recognition in 2001 for the 28 million payoff. Not many noticed she was paid 20 million to create Glitter which still sold 3 million copies. That's a 50 million payday right there. I don't think any estimation of her fortune will be very accurate. Also, nobody knows what her catalog is worth.

Nikki, do you know what year those MTV interviews were when she gave him the green light? I'm guessing during the CB era, but I don't really know. I'd like to watch them if they're online somewhere.

Elusive MC and Forbes (90,329)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|
|
How many times has Mariah actually been on Forbes during her 30 year career? A handful? She's frequently non existent even during her heyday. Ostentatious artists like Madonna or Lopez want you to know what they make. They want the world to know they're successful. Mariah really doesn't seem to care. The reason those artists are always present is because they actually have their people turn in those reports on how much they're making right down to publicly announcing their deals. Mariah doesn't do that. Here's just one example: People wrongly believe her big tours have never sold well. That's because there's no info on them. Mariah never used a huge corporation to sponsor her back in the day. She'd use locals to the lands she was visiting. They'd release her numbers in the respective countries, but if you don't have access to their local papers and can't speak the language than you'd never know. MC never turned those stats into Pollstar. The stats for her CB tour is the North American continent only. I've seen countless places claim that's what she made for the whole tour: 30 million. I had kept an exhaustive list at the time of venues, how they sold, and the ticket prices to find a mean for each concert. I had to find locals in foreign places who could read the local papers to tell me all that info. My criteria has CB making 87 million total and I rounded down.

Thirsty? (90,328)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|
|
Do we know really? Everyone always thinks they know what things mean. Not everything is autobiographical when it comes to Mariah. Sometimes MC's disses are very specific, but sometimes they're more abstract. These lyrics: "You send the bright lights. Even change your name." Nick Cannon didn't change his name. Damizza did. He's still involved with radio and the rap industry. He still had Mariah's name in his mouth off and on since the mid 2000s. I think diss tracks like Obsessed and Thirsty are about more than just 1 person. Which is why she's not naming names and says it's not about "that" person because the whole song isn't. Mariah said "Thirsty" isn't about Nick and even Nick asked her if it was about him. Of course, she'd be telling the truth if it were about multiple people. In which case she'd be "lying, not lying". Or, she could have different people in mind. The song was co-written with one of her background singers, so she could be referencing Tatum Tot's exes instead of her own. Just like in Loverboy, "Re-re has a new boyfriend."

James Packer even confirmed she wanted to wait until marriage and made them sleep in separate rooms. Damizza never happened. She gave him his shot by taking a radio personality and allowing him to produce for her. She even gave him his producer's name, "Damizza". After her remix became a hit he had work as a producer. That took a hit in 2001 when she cut ties with him believing he was giving information to Mottola.

No, she and Damizza never hooked up. He made a lot of hoopla over how he was releasing a book that feature pictures that proved he and Mariah were an item. In addition, he claimed they were together while she was with Mottola, Jeter, and Miguel, but "didn't mind she had other boyfriends". It caused a stir and his book sold well. Then, he got backlash because his pics looked like fan photos. They weren't romantic in the least. A few months later Eminem claimed the same thing. Damizza introduced Eminem to Mariah at the request of Eminem. Despite Eminem also claiming to have pictures he's absolutely refused to show them. Even after Mariah went publicly on MTV live twice to give him the green light and her blessing to do so. He did continually "threaten" to each year he had a new album out though.

Mimi Town Road / voice of the generation (90,322)
by John from USA
| |
|

I hope this collab materializes. This will help reintroduce the patient to young listeners who are no longer used to hearing her voice. She should concentrate on doing features with artists that are still prominent and certified hitmakers of today. She did a similar strategy before TEOM, where small collabs, culminating in I Know What You Want with Busta that reintroduced her to the early to mid 2000s listeners. She was the voice of an entire generation for a while (90s) during which time her voice is literally everywhere and her songs almost automatically become hits just because she sang them.
Prior to the 90s, and for a while that was arguably Madonna and to a lesser extent Janet and Whitney in the 80s and early 90s. In the early 2000s it was Rihanna who can seemingly do no wrong, but even her radio/airplay and hit-making power seems to be waning now. Taylor Swift (and I squirm while typing this) is unfortunately, the voice of this generation. Her new song, You Need to Calm Down, sounds like trash to me, but is a hit just because its her voice and name that's stamped on it.
Knowing Mariah's and her team's penchant for not carrying out great ideas and suggestions from fans in messageboards like this though, this collab will probably not materialize. How many opportunities has Mariah and her team missed out on already?

Well he's practically asking her help to end OSD's reign. But the song is already huge and his coming out hasn't affected its growth. M should jump on this. It seems like she hasn't yet decided whether she wants to remain contemporary or become a legacy act. This can help her make up her mind.

Could this remix already be done? Back in May Usher was in the studio with Lil Nas X and it was rumored they are working on a remix together. Not too long ago Mariah posted a photo with Usher in the studio, maybe this is all linked together. Well see, but this could be exciting.
