Re: A message for B (83,163) (83,200) by Musti from UK
Mariah coming clean about losing her voice is the worst marketing move imaginable for a singer. This wouldn't be anything like her bipolar announcement. She'd basically be telling everyone that the very product she is selling no longer works. Such an announcement might make some lambs happy, but it would certainly drive away whatever casual fans she has left. Everyone already knows that her voice isn't even half of what it used to be. What she does need to do is to stop touring so much. I don't think her voice is completely gone, but she definitely hasn't been a reliable live singer for a long time. Although I'm very satisfied with her recent Can't Let Go performances, watching her lip ISB entirely was just embarrassing. She should stick to the studio where she knows how to shine, with or without a bit of studio magic. One can only hope that her new material will be true to her current voice, but whatever she chooses to do I'm still here for her commercial releases.

Walter Affanasieff worked with Celine for the first time in 1991.

Re: Walter A. (83,196) (83,197) by Andrew from UK
I always feel a little sorry for Afanasieff. I'm not sure what he did wrong. Sure he wrote songs with Mariah on her albums but Mottola was his boss, no? He worked for the label, didn't he? Wouldn't it be a bit like being a lawyer for Dewey, Suwem and Howe and being asked by a dropped client to quit the firm and work part time for her? I don't know much on the subject but I never understood the source of Mariah's ire. I do agree with the person who said that Mariah may be embarrassed to sit at a piano with him and sing. The only thing I ever really remember about Walter is actually Mariah sitting with him at a piano and demonstrating how they compose, and desperately wishing what she hummed was one day turned into a song. I can still hear it in my head today.

Re: Walter A. (83,188) (83,196) by Bill from the UK
There's no evidence anywhere that Walter and Mariah fell out over the direction Butterfly was taking and that Walter and Tommy wanted a sequel (or "squeal") to Daydream. Tommy was the Executive Producer of the record. If he wanted Daydream 2, he would have got it. Walter's contribution to the album was very much in the same gear he's been driving in since he came on the scene. Walter revealed that My All and Whenever You Call were, to his standard at least, unfinished as they stopped working together during the album's creation. Mariah thought the ballads sounded better being sparse and without Walter's "schmaltz". The reason they fell out, which Mariah herself has said, was because during the separation he sided with Tommy. That, and nothing more.

Re: The truth about Walter A (83,190) (83,195) by B from USA
Exactly. She thought they were friends and she found out the hard way that his only allegiance was to Tommy who lined him up to work with Celine after Mariah ended her relationship with him.

Re: The truth about Walter A (83,185) (83,194) by B from USA
Didn't Mariah ban Tommy from the studio during the recording of Butterfly and didn't Walter run and tell him she was going to alienate her fanbase by working with R&B and Hip-Hop artists and producers?

It is somewhat steeped in irony that you tell people not to read my posts but after learning of seven of nine messages posted by you about me I would suggest you read them quite intently yourself, dear. See, you're reading this now haha. P.S. And remember: it's just alcohol. It's not love.

Doesn't it say in Chapter 3 verse 12 of the book of Lambily that "We love everybody"? Andrew - although I really wish you'd be a little less abrasive and harsh in your criticism/observations of M, I respect you and appreciate you as a genuine "lamb" that probably still goes around defending her outside of this board. As crazy as it sounds, this place wouldn't be the same without you.

Re: The truth about Walter A (83,185) (83,190) by Licia from USA
She can't be too embarrassed because she's been doing countless performances in the last ten years with her loss of fluidity and range. It makes no sense to me that she'd avoid working with him because she's embarrassed about something that she's showcased to the whole world already. I'd be more embarrassed that the public knows rather than just him. Pride and her feeling betrayed is the only thing keeping her from working with him.

Eric, now that you've exposed Victoria's Secret, do you think she'll still be able to twerk with us?

Walter A. (83,188) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
During the creation of Butterfly there was a lot of disagreements about the direction. Tommy and company wanted a squeal to Daydream as Mariah wanted to go in another direction and Walter wanted to appease Tommy instead of Mariah and she felt betrayed and that is where their relationship went sour and never recovered so unless there is a miracle or an act of God Mariah has put Walter in her past and she has that right.

Randy did his best to try to get them to talk and work together on MIAM but nothing materialized because MC did not want to work with him. Honestly speaking after the whole Tommy situation she no longer trusts Walter so them working together will never happen. Again time to move on from that just like Mariah has.

Re: The truth about Walter A (83,179) (83,185) by T from USA
2009 was ten years ago. Yet she still works with him. I'm just wondering if she's embarrassed for Walter to hear her loss of fluidity and range and maybe that's another barrier to her working with him. Why would she agree to meet with him through Randy Jackson in 2013?

Re: Andrew (83,177) (83,183) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Look, Andrew is acquired taste. And even that is putting it mildly. You'd probably know more people who'd sooner warm up to marmite than to him. But we have learned to accept him as part of this dysfunctional family because he does bring some spice to this board. He does rub most the wrong way, but I personally would be lying if I don't find any truth at all in his posts. If there's anything I have learned on this board, it's that we may not always agree with each other but as much as we hate to admit it, we'd prefer it that way. I've seen the most devotedly positive people become more and more honest about their criticisms as time went by, and I should know because I'm one of them. It would be unrealistic for any fansite to constantly be a complete lovefest. Those are the types that don't last. This messageboard has existed for 2 decades now because our webmaster is considerate and open enough to let all types of Mariah fans in the spectrum to coexist in one space. If you don't like a (his) post, then just scroll through.

JD was still relevant until 2009 while Walter's relevance ended with Celine's My Heart Will Go On.

Andrew is pretty much to this website what Trump is to the world. You're not loved here so why don't you just fade away already. Im sure J Blo and her acrobatic skills are more to your liking. Trump works for Putin. Question is who is Andrew working for? He comes on a Mariah fansite and obviously hates her. You all though continue to read what he has to say. He needs to be ignored by all of you when he posts something. His face is right there before you click. Everytime I see that face.

The Mariah Walter A saga (83,176) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
What they were able to make together was for a point of time and nothing short of brilliant. Unfortunately we will never experience that magic again because Walter was a Tommy loyalist and during the separation Walter chose to stay with Tommy for contractual responsibilities over Mariah even though she asked him to come with her she felt that him staying with Tommy would be a problem because of Tommy’s controlling ways.
