With You, cute but dated (84,333) by jaker20 from US
I was hoping for a bop but I kind of like the song. I don't know if the public outside of lambs will be here for it. Mariah is either afraid or not capable of creating new beats anymore. Her last real experimental is Butterfly, and after that she went back to her comfort zone. But I guess if she's happy wth the song that is what matters, and I'll hope for the best.

Daydream (84,332) by B from USA
With all the excitement surrounding the release of With You I forgot to commemorate Daydream's 23rd anniversary which is my 23rd anniversary as a lamb. Daydream was the first album I bought. I still own the album on cassette. Daydream is not only one of the best selling albums of all time it's a masterpiece.

A message for Adam (84,331) by Bill from the UK
Hi Adam, what you've said is so honest that it is heartbreaking. I'm in the same boat as you. Try as I might, and as much as I may want it, the Mariah I loved and cared about is not here anymore. It will likely be down to the trauma of her relationships, her supposed addiction to prescription drugs, her alcoholism, her vanity, her deception, and her refusal to change or address any of it head on. The bipolar announcement was such a bold, liberating step, but it's as if it never happened. The woman inserting alcohol brands and f-bombs into every other line is not the same woman who wrote and sang Vanishing, Make It Happen and Everything Fades Away (life imitating art indeed). It just isn't. Can success and fortune really turn the little girl who listened to the radio under the bed covers and wrote songs in a wood shop to the woman we see before us? I saw Whitney's deterioration from a distance. Though I recognised her as an amazing singer, I would never have called myself anything more than a casual fan. Having seen that woman, who had grace, confidence, beauty, poise, elegance and a fantastic voice end her life with none of those things was upsetting enough, but it's as if I am watching it unfold with Mariah right before my eyes, in super slow motion. Maybe she was nothing but a manufactured response to Whitney after all, and the removal of Tommy, the controlled/overdubbed performances, and Kelly Price boosting her vocals is what we're left with (coincidence that's Kelly exited Mariah's camp in 1996 and then in 1997 her voice is noticeably different?). Maybe, like you, it is best to remove myself from this constant disappointment, worry, and concern. I do genuinely care so much about her, but seeing her become this shadow and caricature of herself is just the saddest, saddest thing. I miss Mariah so much. So, so much.

With You (84,330) by Hector from Mexico
I expected more. I must say that I like "I don't" and "Infamous" better. (I love GTFO.)

GTFO should had been an official single (84,329) by J from USA
I know I don't post a lot but I do follow the board from time to time. Honestly speaking I felt like she had something with GTFO. The momentum was there, people were liking it, the song itself was going viral. Why not promote it? Not number one material, but even a top 20 spot is amazing for an artist like Mariah with 30 years in the game. I wasn't crazy over the song but the more you listened to it, it was catchy. A better funnier video would had sold the song 100%, but what can you do?
As far as "With You", it's alright. I was listening and waiting for that big climax at the end but it never came. I don't really see the song doing much chart/radio wise but there's still time to turn it around and release a banger.

Spin (84,328) by B from USA
Spin gave With You a positive review. All of the reviews I've read for GTFO and With You are positive and yet both songs are given negative reviews by fans. I don't understand it. There's obviously a disconnect somewhere.

Re: With You - nostalgia (84,317) (84,327) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Agreed Hilton: which is it? Everybody wants the Mariah they "grew up with" but then have a problem if she's been "doing the same song for the last fifteen years". Which is it? I really like With You. I like GTFO more, but With You has fantastic lyrics and the production is bomb not to mention the promo hasn't been this good since MOIA. In 2018, this is Mariah's voice, this is her vide, this is her expression, this is her art. Have we told Tony Bennet he's been releasing the same song since 1945? No, it's his signature style. You'd be hard pressed to name a laundry list of artists who have explored as many genres as Mariah has in her career. Peace out to all the former fans who are hanging up their Mimi hat in 2018. it's about time, and you'll be a little less miserable without all the pain, heartbreak and disappoint Mariah has caused you since 2008. A decade is a long time to dwell on an idea of a person/artist you created in your mind back in 1995.

"With you" is fire (84,326) by Atwood from NY
And so isn't "GTFO" both of these songs are by far the hottest songs released by a female artist in the past few years. "With you" credits: composer: Mariah Carey, lyricist: Mariah Carey, associated performer: Mariah Carey, main artist: Mariah Carey. Bravo Mariah. 5 stars.

Re: It's hard, but... (84,275) (84,325) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I so agree with you Edward. She's not going to suddenly release a track that has 90's Mariah vocals on it. It's just not going to happen. I doubt she will ever stop using the breathy, airy style either. It's just the reality. She also chooses to market herself to a younger audience. She chooses R&B not adult contemporary pop music in akin to Celine Dion. If she constantly disappoints, maybe it is time to let her go. I don't see the point in following an artist that consistently brings you misery. With You has a solid piano part, the hook is catchy (listen a time or two and you're singing along). Is it a monster hit? No, but I haven't stuck around all these years for monster hits. I actually could care less how it charts. Not up to me anyway, and the likelihood of her achieving another WBT is slim to none as it is. Could I do without the references to alcohol or hook ups in her music? Absolutely. But for whatever reason, it's prominent in music. Nothing I can do. Not going to waste my energy being upset about stuff I have no control over.

Re: Same song, different notes (84,314) (84,324) by Shezz from Pk
I agree, mostly. I actually do like it now but it would make a good album track, not shite for sure. I am sure this album will have gems like MIAM did in YDKWTD, MILG, Dedicated etc. that will also probably never see the light of day and remain album tracks becauase after 1 or 2 more singles, the label will not put out anymore. I think she probably was excited to release it more because it relates to where she is right now in life and how the situation developed and she needed to put that out. How she got the label and Roc Nation to back it as her official lead single is a mystery. I did the play the track several times today and did enjoy it but it does sound like a mash up of her older stronger work for sure. I don't expect a storyline in the video. I hope she atleast performs it well on the AMAs.

With You about Nick Cannon? (84,323) by T from USA
To me this is way more about her love for Nick. The breakdown line, loving her from a very long time. The vows that were bound to happen. The everybody makes mistakes but they muddle through bit. However it could be about her current state. But that's the mark of a good song it's pretty universal. I think this album is going to her Butterfly post 2008. Everything that happened since E=MC2.

Re: With You 5 stars song (84,303) (84,322) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I've been playing it non stop. The song is just so soothing and beautiful and I love every time she starts the part with "Oh shots of Remy". I really hope with a good video and strong promotion this song gets some recognition and a decent position on the charts. I wonder if she has remixes planned for the song, I would assume they do since it is the lead single of a much anticipated album.

With You reaction (84,320) by IheartMC from USA
So, upon several listens of the song, I think I'm neutral about it. It's not good or bad. It's just shows no growth and sounds a bit restraint. I guess I was expecting a real ballad or something in the vein of YDKWTD. That song should have been held for a future release as a first single. That is the kind of song we come to love from her as a lead single. "With you" sounds like an album cut. The lyrics are well done and I can see she is also trying to stay relevant but I would love to see her give us an Adele styled album. In other words a beautiful pop/R&B classic like Daydream. I am not speaking of vocally (I know she isn't capable of that anymore) but sonically/lyrically. That album is a timeless Pop/R&B album. It appeared to every demographic. It was a great blend of the old and new Mariah at the time. What do you guys think?

It's a no for me (84,319) by Matthew from USA
Aw man. DJ Mustard what was that? There was no interesting sample like on GTFO. There's no catchy chorus or bridge. Sounds like she wrote the lyrics first, so Mustard kind of just did the bare minimum so she could fit her lyrics. I do prefer it when someone gives her an interesting production and she writes to it (Touch My Body/#Beautiful) or when she works with the pianist to hammer out the melody then goes off to write the song (her work with Walter A). I don't know guys. This one's pretty bad. Ugh, frustration. Melody first, Mariah, lyrics after. Come on Jay-Z, hook a girl up. Hand her the mid-tempo latin loop from Camila Cabello's Havana or the throwback groove of Pharell's Happy. She does way better when she can adlib and write to the established melody. Also, her older darker (liquored up) heavier voice is very present in this song. She should make the effort to go lighter and younger when she can, even if she can't produce it live. Anyway, she's 1-1 for me. The teaser was better than the lead, so I'm back to being nervous about who's guiding this ship.

Re: With You - Andrew - nostalgia (84,287) (84,317) by T from USA
Well with all due respect you can't be that big of fan or have that much of a connection to her if you abandon her right before the album drops merely based on the first single. I mean what if all the other 10 songs are the classic Mariah you love and are yearning for? That's another point of contention, everybody wants the Mariah they "grew up with" but then have a problem if she's been "doing the same song for the last fifteen years". Which is it?

Seems like a déjà vu (84,316) by Lara from Middle East
Beautiful ballad, very much like her style. I was expecting something more different maybe this is why I'm a bit disappointed. But two things definitely annoy me in the song: the DJ mustard intervention at the start and the word "f$$#" in the middle of the hook. It just doesn't fit with the lyrics.

Same song, different notes (84,314) by Andrew from UK
I stand by what I said from the snippets. As an album track I would say it may be "reasonably good" depending on where it is placed and in what context. As a single, especially a lead single, it's shite. It is now four years since Mariah released MIAM and, if this is the best she could come up with, I am worried for the album. This song is just another same old, same old Mariah track: layered vocals, restricted melody, soft whisper, references to alcohol and stories of people she knows. It is, basically, a bit dull and uninspired. I was expecting something along the lines of YDKWTD. Where has the musical confidence gone? I would even have taken "aggressive" over this. I'm telling you, if this album is another walk through musical obscurity the sycophants here will not need to beg the "naysayers" to give up - many lambs will just give up on Mariah anyway. Sigh. I can not fathom why, after all this time, she has written the same song she always does, albeit with different notes.

With You (84,242) (84,313) by ADAM from USA
I agree with Andrew's sentiment. Disappointing to say the least. I thought after a long time away from recording new music she would have come back inspired to change her sound and work with new producers - With You is a massive fail. I am not excited for this album. This may be my last time I follow her. The realization I've accepted now is that the Mariah I loved in my youth is gone. A different artist that is now gone. Not just the tone of her voice and her ability to belt but the quality of her music and passion that supported it. She has peaked many years ago. What is even sadder is to watch her "sing" her catalog time and time again in Vegas collecting a fat check, while not having her heart in it. The deception is what kills me the most. Every Christmas she milk AIWFC for the millions she's earned and tours all over the world pretending to "sing". She should not charge full price tickets to watch her lip sync when she can't sing anymore. Either sing in real time with your current limited voice or not at all. It's disingenuous take advantage of the same people who supported you when you put out a quality product and use the same people to fund your extravagant lifestyle and you are giving them a hologram. It's difficult to watch someone you loved and admired become someone you do not recognize. She is most concerned about her money and image than she is about her voice or music. I see this trick for what it is now.

Initial impression - With You (84,309) by Lainsky from Philippines
As I listened to it for the first time, the first song the came into my mind was "For The Record". It has the same vibe and sound. Then after listening to it after several times, I realized this is no different from "We Belong Together" or "Don't Forget About Us" and also the weaker "Angel's Cry" and "You're Mine (Eternal)". This song falls somewhere in between these two groups of her previous ballads. WBT and DFAU of course were the strong and intense singles while AC and YME were have to be album cuts made for die hard lambs. So, this could be a hit or not a hit in terms of charts and airplay. But who knows, radio DJs now could be no longer Mariah haters and they could possibly love playing this song. It could also has an appeal to younger music enthusiasts and possibly gain new fans for Mariah. But for not so young fans like me, I do not hate it, I do not love it. I simply like it like GTFO and not digging it a lot. Don't get me wrong please, WY could be a hit. It leans toward WBT vibe but not as strong so, let's see. Although, I was hoping an uptempo official lead track like she used to release. Maybe her next single.
