First post (80,626) by Manuel from Germany
Hey guys. This is my first post here. I am from Berlin, Germany, and I have been a lamb since 1999, when Against All Odds was a big hit here in Germany.
I have been following this forum for many years now and I find it interesting how controversially Mariah is being discussed. I always wonder what it must feel like for her to have everybody and their mom think they are entitled to an opinion about her, and personally I try to just appreciate whatever nice things come from her. This board also made me realize how effed up the concepts of "celebrity" and "fame" are. All of us make wrong decisions all the time based on what we believe to be right, and imagine being someone like Mariah who is just a normal human being, has bad breath in the morning, goes to the toilet just like everybody else and lives in a crazy world where she has little to no contact with actual, real, working people, but has the same issues as everybody else. And then, to add to that, whatever she does, is being examined under a magnifying glass. She is just a person that is constantly evolving (just like everybody else), having to deal with things, having her own biographical baggage, living in an unreal world, and I for my part have decided to have compassion for this woman because I surely wouldn't want to change lives with her even for one day (or if I would, I would just sing to myself all day to really find out what is still left of that voice when nobody's watching & scrutinizing).
But yeah, on another note: have you heard this remix? I love it. I'm looking forward to connecting with you guys.

Re: Mariah's most inspiring song (80,620) (80,625) by Tijl from Belgium
I can only confirm your post. This song was and still is ever so inspiring. I love the performance at the Diana Ross tribute. A shame it never was broadcasted nor made available on DVD.

Page 6 (80,624) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
This guacamole story just goes to show us that Mariah's name attracts news no matter what she does or in this case what she likes to eat at a restaurant. Talk about having nothing to talk about Page 6 just like The Daily Mail knows that Mariah's name carries weight so anything that can write and report about her they will.

Re: Mariah at the Grammy's (80,622) (80,623) by RibbonB from USA
Supposedly she is confirmed for the Clive pre Grammy party honoring Jay Z. I doubt she will attend the Grammy's, but who knows?

Mariah at the Grammy's (80,622) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
The American talk show, The View, has been promoting Clive Davis as a guest this week, where he talks about who's attending his Grammy party. They keep starting the promo spot with a photo of MC (looking Fiyah btw). I think she's a confirmed guest at the Grammy's this year. Jay-Z is tight as F with the Grammy's so I wonder if this will be the largest step back into the music sphere (considering the new team).

I prefer 94. When she had a nice mix of both. Heavy powerful belts and elastic runs.

Mariah's most inspiring song (80,620) by Marissa from USA
I was listening to Can't Take That Away today and felt so incredibly empowered by the lyrics in that song especially with dealing with negative energy at work. I think they are the most inspiring lyrics she's ever written. I wish that song was more commercially successful and well-known because it could truly help heal and strengthen a lot of people. What do you think is Mariah's most inspiring song?

Re: Interesting question (80,607) (80,619) by Tevin from USA
Lee I think the rasp was because of her nodules. She had to learn at a young age how to sing through them, which is amazing in its self, because most people can barely sing with them. But sadly they came back to haunt her in 97.

Well I was so glad she dropped out. Dem babies were fortuitous in so many ways lol. Overall I thought that movie [was] a mess and not a piece of literature that Tyler Perry should have touched.

Quac? (80,617) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Page 6 is reporting on who orders quac at a Mexican restaurant? Is the gossip world having that slow of a day that they actually wrote a story about Guacamole? Alrighty, at least I got a laugh during a slow day at the office today. Forget Mimi back in the studio, this is where the real hard hitting news and scandal is at. (*sarcasm*)
Ps. Who doesn't order chip and quac when they go to a Mexican restaurant? Hahahahaha.

Truly appreciate your posts, Edward. Love your sense of humor. Sometimes it’s nice to not take things quite so seriously on here.

Did I really just read an article about chips and dip? It must be a slow news day for Page Six. I blame myself for even sitting here and reading that mess.

Oh for sure, Bill. Insecurities are very human. She's not wrong for having them at all.

With all the nonsense and lies you spout with unending frequency, I am certain if someone claimed they could hear Mariah fart every time she transitioned to whistle register, you, fool, would claim you could smell it.

Re: Mary in Mudbound (80,595) (80,612) by Licia from USA
Yeah she dropped out because she was pregnant. It would have been interesting for me just to see if she would have been able to handle playing a role that was deeper than a lot of her other roles. Yeah the movie was a bit much in certain parts, but I don't think it would have been disastrous.

Yes. This is how she needs to look. Classy and hot. And without major cleavage. MC please keep this look.

Tough question, I have to choose Daydream too. I love her voice during 93, when I first heard her voice on "Without you" I was blown away. But in 95 there was "something magical" and I got "addicted" to her music.

Re: Endless Love (80,606) (80,608) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Her aura, her smile and the complete look at that time just beautiful. I love her natural look. And yes she looked like a princess. But at the same time so humble. She's a natural beauty and the fact that she had those insecurities makes her even more beautiful. She was shining from the inside plus her beauty plus her voice. It was almost too much. "Endless love" is one of the best romantic songs ever. Mariah and Luther took it to another level.

Re: Interesting question (80,586) (80,607) by Lee from UK
Since listening to the recently released acapella vocals of Mariah's earlier songs, I have notice just how raspy Mariah's vocals were even back in her strongest days. Usually when I listen to the studio recordings, I always think of Mariah's voice as being clear as a bell; however, when you listen to the same songs with all of the music and production striped away, you can actually hear that Mariah's voice has always had a raspy edge to it, even on her clearest of notes.

Re: Endless Love (80,600) (80,606) by Bill from the UK
I agree but I think everyone has insecurities. Like how Mariah was never photographed from the left side. Her face is beautiful and lovely, and there are so many people who would give "their all" to have natural beauty like Mariah's.

Re: Interesting question (80,593) (80,603) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Well, if you put it that way, there really isn't a flip of a switch, a snap, or something that sounds like an overnight/instant kind of change. I guess it may be explained by the fact that Mariah fans well, not really analyze, but experience and appreciate her vocals in different ways. For me, and I know others as well, I happen to notice differences on how her voice generally sounds with every album including her live vocals during that period. That approach (wow, making this sound like a study now haha) may be a little too simplistic and even weird but obviously some of us do it. Similarly, others also the same, but focus not on the technical aspect of her voice but, how it, well, "makes them feel", which I imagine is even harder to explain.

Re: Endless Love (80,600) (80,602) by Edward from USA
Well, on the "Endless Love" video, Mariah was giving beautiful legs left and right, and the girls were screaming to come out of the closet. Little did they know they would eventually come out times 10 and with a make over. And you're definitely right, Mariah was stunningly beautiful. Her attitude made her look like a little princes, she was very unassuming. She knew she had that the gift, but she always show humbleness.
