Re: Battle of the albums round 1 (75,811) (75,850)

It's almost impossible to pick between the eponymous album and Emotions. I feel like debut album has the higher highs, the best moments of Mariah Carey outshines the best moments of Emotions, but Emotions is a more cohesive, consistent album, whereas Mariah Carey almost sounds like it's trying hard to show Mariah's multifaceted quality as an artist because it dips on many different genres. It's a tough one but I'm currently leaning more to Emotions. (If I were to think about this a few days ago, I would've answered Mariah Carey. It changes with my mood tbh.)

"Would you know anything about those collaborations I mentioned before?" Nope, sorry. But if I find out more, I will sure post it. Btw, I found that article about her collaboration very vague.

I just read a message floating on twitter from Martyn's mother who said she sent Martyn off on his journey in his Mariah t-shirt of her in a skimpy outfit.

I have to go with Emotions too. While I love the debut and it was what made me a fan in the first place with songs like IDWC, LTT, VOL, AIL and Someday (I think her look in that video is iconic) sorry Mariah, I know you are embarrassed or whatever but that's the look I always wanted to emulate in my teens. But back to the music, when she released Emotions, I don't think I played anything else for months. The tone in her voice, those haunting and dark moody songs. That opening to You're So Cold, Can't Let Go (those perfectly executed and placed whistles) the doo woopy So Blessed, AYDT, the timeless Til The End Of Time and the closing of The Wind. The whole album has mood setting to it that feels complete. I feel like she felt this album more. Emotions is very underrated to be honest.

My apologies Eric. I honestly skipped over that one. I sometimes do read the news you post but mainly if it has to do with new music. I didn't care to read that one due to the title. I try not to read about the negative stuff, since by now, I'm not at all surprised by her diva antics and dumb decisions. No shade at all, just my honest opinion. Thank you for posting my massage though. My messages tend to get ignored the majority of the time lol so would you know anything about those collaborations I mentioned before?

Preach sister. I was thinking the same. First of all, like I mentioned before, no one was keeping tabs on Mariah's "relationship" with Bryan and the only stories we got were stories her team pushed. They are no "power couple" hence any stories on them is not worth the effort for any outlets. It can't be a coincidence that right after the stories "broke out" of their break up from TMZ, Bryan was suddenly not seen in her entourage, whereas right up until that he was all around the world with her. Also right after Bryan's exit, we kept on getting new pictures of Nick and Mariah together on a daily basis with stories about them getting together again, but right after Bryan got back Nick is completely out of the picture? I also noticed that when Bryan was gone the necklace from James was also gone, but now it's back from the time Bryan got back, like what on earth? Now with Shawn's exchange with the fan, it again doesn't add up. Their "narratives" and stories have always been inconsistent and silly. It's like a 5 year old is their PR executive, oh wait maybe it's Sasha. Y'all thought Mariah's World season 1 is messy, wait until you get season 2.

I found it to be more confirmation that she has TMZ in her back pocket. The paps were definitely called and really the TMZ bus just happened to be there. The woman recording was asking her if she and Nick were back together. At first Mariah thought she was asking her about Tonka Toy but then the woman corrected her and Mariah said "We were married, honey. We took two years to get divorced. He's a great guy, though, a great person, a great father." Then the woman proceeds to ask her for advice on getting married. Mariah says "don't do it" then she laughs and says "just be sure about it". I guess it was a nice "interview" though, strangely enough. She didn't ramble, which was nice.

Everyone is really on a mission to play us for fools. Now Mariah's dumb nephew is on Twitter saying that 1) she and Tonka Toy never broke up and 2) Mariah hasn't recorded much for the new album and then in a rude reply to another fan that she's just started recording it. I guess number one isn't a total lie because how can you break up with someone you were never with but looking at it in its given context, it's like: so where did he suddenly disappear to and why? Why did Mariah say to TMZ that she was enjoying being single? Why all those stories that came from TMZ first and foremost, who we all know Mariah has in her back pocket thanks to Stella, calling him a golddigger and jealous? Why is it that now that he's resurfacing, Mariah's back to wearing the necklace that James gifted her when she was hanging with Nick, she ditched it? As for number two, that answer certainly does clash with the tweet "from her" that said that she couldn't wait to finish her album in the Bahamas. Mariah has also been saying that she's been listening to the new music. Definitely, gives off the impression that she's been recording a lot more than anyone thought. Why mention finish if it hasn't even begun and now we're hearing it's barely anything. They swear we were all born yesterday. Note to them: before you try to play the fans as fools, get your lies in order and remember them.

New music and movie? (75,836)
by Haiji Toro from USA
| |

Hey guys, hope all is well. I came across some sites stating upcoming new music and a movie role. Supposedly, MC will be on DJ Kaled's new album on a song with Migos and Travis Scott. She will also play a part in a movie with Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler, named The House. Can someone please confirm this? Is there more info on any of this? [Webmaster: Sometimes I wonder if anyone reads the news on this website.]

I love both albums but I have to give it to Emotions. The Emotions album like others have stated solidifed me as a die hard fan. The debut is great but it sounds dated and Mariah appeared to have no personality. With Emotions the tones in Mariah's voice are showcased more, the production of the songs are on a whole other level, and the songs are timeless. Emotions has personality (To Be Around You, Emotions, Make It Happen) the album is a perfect blend of soul, pop, with a sprinkles of gospel. Listening to this album just makes me feel good. Of course I have to give shout out to TTEOT but songs like Don't Remember, So Blessed, The Wind and Can't Let Go are dang near perfect. Critics didn't see the vision with this album.

Have y'all seen her twitter page? Someone asked her to perform Anytime You Need A Friend and she responded and said it was a good idea but she doesn't know (yet). And also replied to someone that she is debating on Faded vs Thanx 4 Nothin to put on the tour set list. I think we are gonna get some never performed songs. I'm ecstatic.

Unfortunately it will become a shortlived experience. Mariah unfortunately has no credibility when it comes to fashion and beauty. Yes, there have been the collections with MAC and the perfumes are selling well (in the US that is). However she is hardly ever mentioned as a style icon because she isn't one. Her heyday as a potential fashionista ran in the 90's during the Butterfly era. Remember the Gucci ensembles? These days her look has become tacky and cheap. It takes a lot more than a good idea to build a succesful business outside of her own domain. Victoria Beckham has been a huge icon of fashion for years and yet her London store still makes no profit. Go figure. Mimi should stick to making great music. The end.

New album / distractions (75,828)

I'm afraid with all the side jobs (trying to make Stella rich) are going to ruin the new album and its roll out. MC needs to focus on the music and not all these side gigs. Why can't Mariah see that Stella and her family are leeches?

I also don't skip a song on Emotions. MIAM was like Mariah took Emotions and Memoirs and put them into a blender. She needs to grow up musically. She needs to write simple melodic songs again with lyrics that are clever and poetic without pandering to the youth of today.

Matty, you articulated what I was trying to say perfectly. Mariah needs to revisit the Motown sound from the Emotions and Daydream again. The last hit single she had was a Motown homage.
