HFIA review (111,607)
by Haiji from United States

I'm in love with this album. Let me just cut to the chase lol. I'm loving everyone's reviews. I haven't stopped listening to the whole album, no skips, the past 3 days. I'm actually listening to the album as I type this lol. Ok, so here it goes...
Mi - Nice opener. This one is for the youngins. It kinda reminds me of "I'm That Girl" by Beyoncé from Renaissance. Idk why that is though lol.
PTS - At first listen, I felt disappointed. I'm not sure on what I was expecting but it eventually grew on me and now I love it. As the next single, I'd wait for like the 5th single. I'm sorry, I have to agree with the webmaster, the video is boring lol watched once, sorry MC.
TD - I still love this song. As others have said, it makes sense to have it on the album to balance it out. Does anyone else also says the parts she says on the video ("you're blocking my light") as you're singing along?
SS - This song has grown on me. I wasn't a big fan of it at first but since I've been playing the album with no skips, I'm starting to appreciate it more. I heard the solo version twice and made me like the features even more. To me, the solo version sounds like it could've been the demo.
IYF - This is my favorite song on the album. Everything about it is perfect. This should be her next single not PTS. This is everyone's favorite while reacting on YouTube. I've also come to terms with her new voice and I'm still "here for it all". At first listen, I cringed at the vocal part to "picture" but that also grew on me lol. I love how she's doing more of switching up the beat at the end of her songs. Loved it on 8th Grade and Giving Me Life.
NII - I like it. I won't skip it but it's definitely my least favorite. It reminds me of Hero and like I've said here before, I've never connected with that song. Maybe one day it'll mean something to me. And tbh, her vocals at the end are not great to me. I appreciate the stripped down instrumental but I felt some more layers of vocals was needed to cover her vocals a bit.
C&C - Cute song, also for the youngins. I love the production. I can hear Brandy on it. It does remind me of Brandy's song Should I Stay?
IWAI - My 2nd favorite song. It's so fun and free. Loving the 70s groove to it. Also reminiscent of Beyoncé's "Cuff It". This should be the 4th single.
ML - I didn't think I'd like this one since I've heard the original and it never did anything for me tbh. Her voice sounds the best on this song. The emotion behind it, almost brought me to tears.
JID - Another favorite. Was so happy playing this while cleaning Saturday morning. I love that she came full circle with The Clark Sisters feature. I remember her debut era interviews, how she'd always mention her inspiration from them. Great song.
HFIA - I didn't like the snippet online. I loved the full song instantly. Beautiful song, sad song. It kinda reminds me of Butterfly, the song. Like her older sister. The ending had me elated. It was like a kiss on my forehead. Great ending.

Not a complete review but a few thoughts. It's getting better with repeated listens for me. Mi is like a reverse burning, getting better and better and insidiously catchy. [In your feelings] is probably my favorite on the album, and my favorite is not typically a ballad especially with her later work.
Also, fun fact: Nick was a spokesperson for Proactive back in 2012. Lol?

Sugar Sweet is really a great song with MC solo. I get a different vibe now. Why didn't they release the solo version first and then the version with Kehlani and Sheensea? This album really brings me so much pleasure listening to it in my car. I haven't been to the park yet because of moving this past weekend. I am going this coming weekend.

HFIA reviews versus Caution reviews (111,600)
by BFF from United States

|
|
I've noticed that the reviews for "Here For It All" are much more lukewarm than the reviews for "Caution". The only way I can explain this is that "Here For It All" is an album that is not pandering to critics or a particular audience but is an album Mariah recorded for herself and for the "ride or die" fans. It's the kind of album that "Me I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse" could have been if it had been released in its original iteration as "The Art of Letting Go", without the clutter of unnecessary, subpar tracks like "One More Try", "Heavenly", "Money" and those awful cut-and-paste "remixes" of "It's a Wrap" and "Betcha Gon' Know".
In contrast, "Caution" was an album that was rushed and lacked Mariah's signature touch because she was working with so many different producers. It was also clear that the label was pressuring her into working with current producers who don't understand her or her music. It also felt like "damage control" for the Stella years and like was pandering exclusively to the folks who became fans during "The Emancipation of Mimi" and later eras.
So many of the writers reviewing "Here For It All" seem to lack an understanding of Mariah's artistry and music and inventing things to criticize. In the Pitchfork review, the writer zeroes in on Mariah's purported "self involvement" as something to criticize. What recording artist isn't self-involved to a degree? I promise you that Beyonce and Taylor Swift are just as self-involved if not more so.
I also read a line where one writer claimed that "Memoirs" is a better album than this one. Say what? Who are these people? Have they ever listened to a Mariah album? There is not a single song on "Memoirs" that I like better than anything on "Here For It All".

HFIA reviews versus Caution reviews (111,603)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

HFIA has a high quality and feels like a "real Mariah Carey album" not just like a new RnB album with Mariah on it and "hot" producers and rappers. There's a certain magic on it which "Caution" was missing. I hear debut, Emotions, Music Box, Daydream, a little Butterfly and TEOM vibes from this album. So all her greatest ones that flows to this one record. At the same time it feels new and also like a tribute to real music with the retro soul elements. Mariah did it again, this album is fantastic from start to finish.

Am I "Here For It All"? (111,602)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I wanted to really sit with "Here For It All" before posting my thoughts, and now that I've listened to it about seven times, I can say I'm pleasantly surprised, in the best way of course.
First off, the vocals. Mariah might not be belting like she did in the '90s, but she's definitely not whispering either. Her voice sounds fuller and more present, she's singing in her full voice again, and that's honestly so refreshing. The whole album gives me flashes of her early releases, and I love that.
Putting "Type Dangerous" and "Sugar Sweet" in the context of the album, I'm really happy they're part of it, they both bring a nice balance to the record. And while the lyrics of "My Love" are pretty simple, Mariah's straightforward delivery is just beautiful. It reminds me of the emotion and melody she brought to her early covers, heartfelt, effortless, and deeply felt. I'm definitely loving myself some "My Love".
For me, the standout track is "Nothing Is Impossible". It's honest, vulnerable, and that whistle at the end? Ethereal. Perfection. And just to clear it up: that "survived a gruesome fall" line isn't about a literal fall, it's clearly about an emotional one, which makes it even more powerful. So please, stop thinking she needs to go to the ER due to some broken bones from 2014.
I was a little nervous about "Jesus I Do" before hearing it, I thought it might turn into a scream-fest, but wow wow wow, they pulled it off. Their voices blend so well together, with its catchy chorus, it is, I believe, easily one of the highlights of the album, and Jesus knows that sometimes "I Don't".
Now, let's talk about the song "Here For It All." It's such a beautiful and heartfelt song. But as I said to my dear friend Randy, it would've been stronger if it had faded around the 4-minute mark. Not because what follows is bad, but because the vibe shifts so much it feels like a completely different piece that could've worked better as an interlude. I actually faded it myself at that point and it sounds amazing that way, like a perfect ending.
I'm also relieved the Mariah solo version of "Sugar Sweet" didn't make it into the standard album. Just Mariah singing her parts with the chorus on repeat without Kehlani's and Shenseea's verses doesn't really work for me. If she'd sung the whole thing, including their parts, that would've been a different story and probably fantastic.
And for anyone thinking this might be a farewell album, I think it's not. This feels more like liberation album. What I hear is a woman who's embraced where she is, let go of all the expectations, and is focused on the art, not the charts. It's her most honest and cohesive album in over a decade, one you can play from start to finish without skipping a track, just like the old days.
Also, that chorus from "Nothing Is Impossible"? It seems to be living rent-free in my head right now.
The wait was so worth it. With "Here For It All", Mariah seems to have freed herself from fear, from pressure, from the weight of "what could've been" and I love this album for that.
So, I asked myself: Am I Here For It All?, and a dramatic and resounding answer came instantly: You're damn right I am.

I really loved the album. Mariah at her best. I think even with all the changes in her voice she is and will always be the best singer songwriter who ever existed.
#1 - Here of it all (genius vocals and lyrics) #2 - Play this song (super catchy) #3 - My love (Brasil will eat this) #4 - Sugar sweet (a nod to E=MC) #5 - Jesus I do (Supreme delivery) #6 - Type dangerous (beloved single) #7 - In your feelings (a nod to TEOM) #8 - I won't allow it (Discoriah) #9 - Nothing is impossible (classic Mariah ballad) #10 - Mi (another classic) #11 - Confetti & champagne (forgetful track)
At the end of the day since the album is sooo good it's a matter of personal taste.

What I love is how Mariah makes the background vocals and harmonies so gloriously soft and gentle. The "ooooh" during the middle 8 "oh I love, oh my love, only my love holds the other key to me" sounds like a floaty, heavenly, siren-esque dreamscape. And I love love love how Mariah opted to end on a really soft and gentle "whoa" whereas Paul's original ended it with a more belting one. It's like the male and female versions of the song, I honestly can't get enough of it. Thank you Mariah so much for your wonderful gift and artistry and what you have given us with this absolutely sublime record.

My Love / "Here For It All" / Daniel Moore (111,596)
by Billy from Greece

First, let me just echo what a couple of others have already commented - "My Love" is just sublime, downright gorgeous. It is an example that Mariah does not need to belt to let the beauty of her voice shine. Especially the opening lines and those "woa woas" transport me to another state of mind. None can match her melodic choices. I mean, yes, the original song and composition are the main ingredients, we're talking about a really great song here, but her tone, the area of her voice she chooses in order to communicate the lyrics take the song to a whole new level. It sort of reminded of "My Prayer" in vibe. I just love, love, love the album. I think I'm more hooked than I was with "Caution" when it came out. "Here For It All" has me feeling more emotions and moods compared to the previous albums, while the instrumentations and arrangements are just so beautiful this time around. There is a sense of "liveness" that sets a vibe for the whole album. I think a lot of credit has to go to Daniel Moore, not only for his co-writing but also for the musicians he brought along to play on the record. Throughout the years he has shown that he really is a fan of Mariah's catalogue and gently challenged her both to go back and forge ahead with new sounds. I think he brings a very eclectic sound to Mariah's brand and I love that. "I Won't Allow It" is such a favorite, since first listen. "In Your Feelings" reminds of "Mine Again" while the title track really has me in "my" feelings. I keep humming "Mi" all the time, as well as "Play This Song". As I've stated before, no matter what, "forget the short skirts, big hair, whatever", Mariah has bever disappointed me music-wise. There have been plenty of things to complain about as of recent years, but her artistry has never failed to me impress me.

I Won't Allow It and skip song (111,594)
by Lainsky from Philippines

After the release of "Play This Song", I hope they choose "I Won't Allow It" as the fourth single. I previously mentioned that I didn't have any skip songs from the album, but I've since changed my mind. Now, the song I tend to skip is "Confetti & Champagne". I realized this after listening to the entire album more than ten times. It feels similar to the songs I usually skip from MIAMTEC, Caution, and E=MC2.
The more I listen to this album, the more I notice her signature style of wordy phrases that are sung quickly (like in IYF), along with tongue-twisters, hero-gospel-themed songs (NII, JID, and HFIA), and unforgettable melodies. I believe "My Love" and "In Your Feelings" could also be great singles. Just a thought - this album continues to play on repeat in the background for me.

HFIA (111,593)

After a few days, I'd like to share my thoughts on HFIA: The album is a masterpiece. There isn't a single song I dislike or skip. Mariah touched me deeply with this album, like hardly any other album before. It's heavy shit in places, and I can't listen to it on repeat. But I do wonder why? This album has so much depth and such great lyrics, and is unlike anything that's come out since Butterfly. Why did MC only release such a masterpiece now? The album is exactly what many fans have been wanting for years. I also like the promo and the interviews she gives. Why did we have to wait so long for HFIA? The promo for the last few albums was rather more restrained. Such an effort was only made when MC released a new perfume or had completely over-the-top advertising for this diet brand. All the Lambs were in high anticipation and then were disappointed. We got MIAMTEC and Caution. E=MC2 also seems like a rigamarole next to HFIA. Mariah seems reformed. But why is MC making such an effort this time? Because she cares about HFIA itself. This time it's about MC, not about music. Mariah seems to have been through a lot in recent years and is therefore delivering brilliant music. It's similar to the Sony days: Mariah was under pressure from Tommy, and she delivered.

I really don't want to step on anyone's feathers or anything, but I had to really listen to a lot of tracks from previous albums because I was wondering why I loved her since 1994 so when I was four years old, except for two songs (Mi and Nothing is Impossible) I don't love it. I accept and respect the development she had but at least for me it is unfortunately not sitting right.

I feel the same way. All the silent readers are posting this weekend. It's so cool to read everyone's comments. Jesus I Do is insanely very good. How do The Clark Sisters blend their voices so well together? I guess Dr. Mattie Moss Clark trained them well. If you listen closely you can hear each sister's voice on certain notes. Dorinda and Karen are doing the ad libs towards the end of the song. When is MC going to release her gospel album? We need it next April.

The avalanche of reviews are crazy. It's so cool to see everyone come out of hibernation and be united. I truly didn't realize how many lambs are actually here. I have to agree Bill. I've just landed into Orlando and was listening to the album on my break, My Love is beautiful and the vocals too, I love your feelings too, the vocals are not as strong in the part when she says "picture" but otherwise I love it. She must have recorded different songs over a long period. I'm really loving the album vibe, it's very early Mariah and I also didn't think we would hear this sound again from her again. I would love another project with a similar vibe too, it has a [Music Box] and Daydream feel to it.

I must have played My Love about 20 times yesterday. There was a certain magic about Mariah's early remakes - I'll Be There, Without You, Open Arms, the recently unearthed My Prayer - I didn't think that would be present or captured ever again, as it seemed to disappear over time. But wow, this has got to be one of her best ever. It's sung so beautifully, and the music, the background vocals, I can't believe something so wonderful is here at my disposal to enjoy whenever I want. If this is her last ever remake she does, she ended on an amazing high with this. I bet Paul is so proud and pleased with her interpretation. First class Mariah, I love you.

Wow just wow. Someone made a a video on YouTube of the instrumental and backgrounds of HFIA, and around the 17 min mark NII comes on. It sounds like a dream. Like an old school Disney movie.

How are the numbers at the moment? I have to admit that the album is growing on me.
