The thing is as well, the trolls compare a current performance recorded on a phone, of all things, against professional televised soundboard/dubbed performances from 20 years ago. Do like for like and listen to an undubbed Music Box concert recorded on a handheld tape recorder and there's really not much difference considering the twenty year gap. (Strokes pet unicorn lovingly.)

Thanks MiTodoChop. I loved the improvisations as well and wished she did more of it. I think if she continues to care for her voice and stays in good voice we may see her become more daring vocally and go for different notes. I"m not surprised she doesn't nor am I surprised that the trolls who would use it to pick her and the performance apart. It's sad really that it's become acceptable to tolerate it. I don't care what anyone says, she looked great and sounded great in this performance. I give credit to hard work when it's due.

Thanks. I was looking forward to lamb day and my birthday that day in 2012. Then I get a call from my grandma about Whitney Houston in the evening. It was sad and shockingly we immediately were all hoping it wasn't drugs that killed her. It's sad when you hope one of your favorite artists dies of a homicide and not a drug overdose. Her dying of an overdose made it difficult to accept her death for me. Listening to her music during that time helped deal with it but it still feels weird today. Honestly, it feels like an asterisk or void is left now because of it occurring on my birthday. Oh my dropped skittles, Whitney Houston 4 years and Michael Jackson almost 7 years. Time goes by quick.

Happy BDay. I love Whitney. I was on a Whitney music binge the day she died and as IWALY was playing, something told me to turn on the TV. The rest sadly is history. I remember Mariah wanting to make 2/11 lamb day that year. How ominous.

It would be much better if she dropped the lip parts, which, ostensibly, she can do live given the other parts she sings, and, also, if she used vibrato. The long held notes without vibrato are nowhere near as pleasing on the ear. And the ball gowns? New stylist and interesting sets for the SSF tour is absolutely required. Pants at some point would be good. I see people talking of the set list. It's unlikely she will stray that much. It's about time she put on a new show. A jet ski in place of a chaise longue does not a set piece make. The duet with Whitney is a great idea but she'll never do it. Open Arms would be perfect and it sounds like she could sing it without sticking in a lip section. Vibrato needed tho or just seems like shouting again. Without You of course, but she'll never lower the key so she'll lip most of it. I think Hero should be the Never Too Far mix that she promoted heavily here in 2002. So much she could do. I think Mariah still doesn't quite get the age we live in. Her shows are rehashed staging. Fans wants to be surprised. Perhaps she should even choose a non-catalogue song and sing it. An MJ number. Do a Celine, put on some pants and work the stage. Something new. If it's just an empty stage with the usual back-up and dancers, with the same songs in a slightly different order, it will be good. But it won't be great.

I adore Mariah and am a big fan of George's catalog. What a voice. He and MC singing together would be a such a treat. I would absolutely love it. One can never rule it out completely, especially since she recorded OMT. Older is a fantastic album too, the photography of the video singles is beautiful.

Hello RJJ12. Thanks fo reply back. I'm starting to feel like I'm part of the family on this board. True about Beyonce, they seem so distant now. I think if Mariah would have added the demo recordings to the MIAM, it would have sold a lot more because we as fans miss the 90's Mariah. I'm not saying that 90's Mariah is better than current Mariah, it's just that we want her to give us a little bit of that again. The success, the voice, the looks. We require the epicness to come back (generally speaking of music and she represents all that). I would like to hear all the records she has hidden somewhere. Hey, and don't you think it's weird that a fan released the Carey/Bolton record of "We are not making love anymore"? How does he get it? I always found that strange as he was the first one on releasing that as a snipped to the world. Is someone from Sony leaking Mariah's material/ideas? Should we expect more sabotages? Does Tommy has something to do with all this?

Mariah and rappers (59,738)
by Seth M from South Africa

Another rapper is now added to the list of people claiming that they had sex with Mariah. I mean really Stevie J? This annoys me so much. First Eminem then Damizza and now Stevie J. If I can remember, a few years back another rapper made similar claims (I can't remember his name). These people get to a low point in their fading careers and try to make up stories about Mariah to get publicity. I am so glad that Mariah is not seen anymore hanging out with rappers and so called friends who only leeched from her. I'm sure she realized that if you hang out with pigs then you are sure to get mud on your face. I really hope that her next album will not incudes any rappers as Mariah is capable of making a hit all by herself. For the general public and non fans who I have spoken to, they say that the rappers on a Mariah song is a put off.

What type of fan, when watch MC live (59,737)

What type of fan are you, when you are watching Mariah performing live on TV or in concert? Regarding me, I am the quiet one lol. I can not sing along with her, because my ears are at 100% to enjoy the full show. At the Daydream concert I tried to sing along but she was making different things with her voice not like the CD and I was like s****t I haven't heard that. And now I am still the same singing sometime when I play the radio or MP3 player or LP turnatable but when she is performing live. I muet lol. Have a nice day everyone. I was just wondering who is different, who is like me lol.

I always thought Mariah and George would be amazing together. 1990 was an amazing year. MC dropped her first album and Listen Without Prejudice came out which were my 2 favourite albums of that year, both still sound great 26 years later which can not be said for a lot of artists. I live in hope they will duet at some point in the future.

I totally agree and always felt he was like the male Mariah as well. Such talent, vocally and musically. George has written some beautiful deep songs as well. Patience is a very underrated album in my opinion.

I know, it's like how and why in the entire universe has this not yet happened? This is crazy but I kinda consider George Michael the male equivalent of Mariah for some unknown reason. It's most probably because of the similarities I have noticed between Mimi's Butterfly and George's Older, which were released around the same time ('96-'97). Both were lush, moody, dark, sensual masterpieces. Speaking of that era (a favorite of mine, and I know I have posted about this before), several mainstream artists were releasing very deep, introspective albums that rank among their best work. It was good weird. Kylie had Impossible Princess. Janet had The Velvet Rope. Madonna had Ray Of Light (technically this was released in '98, though). Quite depressing, but musically, those were truly great times.

You guys do know she has a personal security guard stationed right outside her double doors just for her right? Not the door man or security in the lobby, but a guard who's only job is to protect her apartment lol. Even if you sneak your way into the elevator and ride up to the penthouse, you have to answer to the guard.

Hello Victor. I believe it's Beyonce as well. Just because they seemed so close at one point and then a big distance. The way Mariah described the album concept and pics were similar to the Beyonce album. I don't think it's Taylor, how would she have access to Mariah's intellectual property? I would love her to just drop her demo tape or rare recordings from that era. I wonder how she would promote that, if at all or if she would just give it to the fans. I'm also interested to see if she does anything with the songs that didn't make the last record and put them on a new album. Is that why she seems so relaxed because most of it is done and we just don't know it?

I really liked this performance on opening night. The live vocals are on point and I like how she has continually change the way she sings the song, it gives the song new life. I love when she improvises. She looks really good and seems relaxed on stage again. I love how she seems to just glide off the stage singing in that breathy tone like this rare mythical being who just cast a spell on the audience.

Definitely wasn't Taylor. She released her album a good 5 months after Mariah released MIAM. Also weren't Mariah's demos leaked after the release of MIAM and fans thought it would be on her new #1's album? I could be mistaken but I don't think she intended to put them in her album, it wouldn't make sense to put it in a studio album rather than a compilation album.

It doesn't surprise that Beyonce might of stolen Mariah's concept. She's stolen from practically everyone. The song you're referring to from that leaked track list is called "I'll still be around". Another that caught my eye was called "This cannot be love". I have also noticed that Mariah seems very laid back and relaxed. Maybe she already has plenty of material and is confident about the next album. Going back to Sony was one of the best things she did for her career.

Hello RJJ12. It could be Beyonce due to what Mariah explained about the visuals. And also the surprise factor of the unexpected release in iTunes. But it could be Taylor Swift too. Taylor released the 1989 album of her demos. I'm pretty sure Mariah had the same idea. Remember a video back in 2014 in which someone was playing the Vanishing demo tape. I'm sure that finger is Mariah's. Mariah now owns all her material from Sony. I wouldn't be surpised if she includes in her new album old records never released. Besides she looks so relaxed like if everything is under control, like if she didn't have to invest too much effort in her upcoming album. Also, I remember that when the first tracking list of MIAM was leaked, there was a song which was supposedly a duet with Steve Wonder called "We will still be around" and Mariah has the rights as lyrists for a song under the same name back in day before she released her first album. Who knows? I could be wrong.
