Re: Future releases (61,209) (61,212) by Malcolm from Asia
I totally agree, her next single must recapture her vocals and not having to much beats like Infinity. This fan-made version of Triumphant is one of the best example, I love how simple the whole arrangement is and yet the melody is exceptional. If the official single had been released like that, I bet Triumphant might cracked the top 20 on charts. Another one is 100%, the melody and her vocals there always blows me away. More soul mix with R&B and acoustic taste is good for her and of course it must be accompanied with an excellent music video, that is really important. If she will follow the trends (not musically) but in the way music industry works, she can always sit around in the top 20. Gimmicks that the music ultimately will not suffer, I know Adele is doing it right now.

I love "Faded". It's the most listened song on my iTunes. MIAM is one of my all time favourite Mariah albums.

Re: Future releases (61,209) (61,210) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
As evinced by the recent chart toppers, it's getting harder to pinpoint which sound is gonna be a hit these days. Like how do you go from Hello to Work? But like you said, Mariah's next single should be simple. She's really fond of vocal layering, and somehow that has become her trademark, but this time maybe simple harmonies will do. And of course the production should be minimalist. Less is more to highlight her vocals, which should be able to be replicated live, by the way. Sounds familiar? Yeah, we just described We Belong Together, but we're not looking for yet another recreation of that. Lyrically, though, that's the standard. But Mariah, come on, surprise us.

Future releases (61,209) by darrian liu from taiwan
I want to avert from the current topic for a while and thought about what kind of song could get Mariah back on the top of the charts. I'd say maybe a song with minimal production and beats and a straightforward vocal performance with a good melody. What do you guys think?

Re: Meet and Greet (61,202) (61,208) by Licia from USA
I tried so hard to keep quiet on this (many of you already said what needed to be said), but Sofia you totally missed the whole point if why the poster was unhappy with the meet and greet. The whole thing sounded like an unorganized mess. She never demanded anything of Mariah nor did she not appreciate the time that she did get to spend with her. For the money that she paid all she wanted was for the event to have been handled better and there's nothing wrong with that.

The website usually is full of haters. But they have a great clip of Mariah singing My All. She sounds incredible.

Re: Meet and Greet (61,202) (61,205) by Luke from United Kingdom
I don't think that's their point. They paid a lot of money for the meet and greet and it was lacklustre. Mariah wasn't doing that out of the goodness of her heart and I'm sure the amount she makes from those meet and greets will get her another diamond necklace. The tickets should be named a photo with Mariah because you can't meet someone in such a small amount of time. It probably just needs to be arranged better but that might not be in Mariah's control. There could be a time limit on the arena/venue that doesn't give her and her team a lot of time.

Me. I am Mariah (61,203) by R&B Junkie from Poland
I just wanted to show some love for the abovementioned release. So sad it's her worst selling album. In my personal opinion this one is one of MC's best albums. Honestly, the album is body of work and when you listen to it from the first track to the last you enjoy it even more more than the separated album cuts on your daily playlist. My favorite tracks are Dedicated, YDKWTD, #B, Make It Look Good, You're Mine and Faded (lol, that's almost half of the album ). Great lyrics, raw vocals, supreme productions. I love the fact that she used some live instruments during recording this. The violins in You Don't Know What To Do are just heaven-inspired. The most important thing is the message included in Dedicated. Just can't stop loving it.

Those people get 10 seconds and complain. What were they expecting? Sometimes I wish Mariah didn't do anything for the fans because they are so ungrateful.

AI / HerLoverboy (61,201) by Tiina from Finland
I agree. I think she should have left it at mentoring. I know people say that all the women on American Idol basically just did Mariah but even so, in my opinion, Mariah was always above it. I didn't think she would ever be a judge, so when she joined the show, I was like, why would you make me watch this tired ol' show? Even at that point American Idol was already washed up, although they sure had great talent there. But nobody cares. And then the whole Nicki thing happened. It wasn't a good look.

I'm not on FB and I left twitter. I'm living like it's 1999. Sounds shit but this way I can pretend Glitter never happened lmao. Seriously I whatsapp now and that's about it. I'm glad you found it funny: you're coming to hell with me. Currently booked onto EZY666 is you, me, everyone Mariah's ever married or dated, every manager she's ever had, oh, and your friends from the Daily Mail comments section.

Meet & Greet (61,199) by QueenLambassador from Portugal
I think people have no right to demand anything from Mariah. The people who got 10 seconds with Mariah are luckier than the rest of us mortals. Why are you always finding things to criticize? Shame.

Article: Mariah Carey skips "American Idol" finale (61,196) by HerLoverboy from New Zealand
American Idol is a novelty show that Mariah never should have involved herself with straight from the beginning.

Meet and Greet (61,194) by Ty from USA
While I have met Mariah many times and never paid a dime, I was very surprised when my boy paid and she was distant and cold. That's $1500 meet and greet and you get 10 seconds for a pic. Scam.

Re: Connecting with fans/how to do meet and greets (61,186) (61,193) by Liz Archer from Sweden
Completely agree. It is a shame it is not organised better. But who is going to quality check her employees work with this? It's not like they check the fans satisfaction after such meet ang greet. I don't know how it compares to her last tour. Has it got worse or the same? Does anyone know? I did meet Mariah in the last tour but that was because mom and me was waiting outside the hotel. Such a fun experience and she was kind to meet with us and sign our memobilia. Sadly it has partly been destroyed now. The pen she used was a bad one. Partly faded. Didn't think that one though.

"Friend to Friend" (61,192) by Billy from Greece
I'm usually not the "Mariah should cover such and such song" type of guy, but listening to Diana Ross's sublime "Friend to Friend" (from the "Diana" 1980 album) I can almost hear Mariah singing it. Here's the link for anyone who does not know the song.

Re: 2016 Billboard Music Awards / AI finale (61,189) (61,190) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I hope she does and I hope she is more confident after the tour and can really blow everyone away with her voice like she is doing during the tour. I find it weird that after so many years of being in the business, Mariah gets so nervous singing in front of the industry people at major events. I hope she moves around unlike last time and just is carefree instead of becoming stiff. She has proven that the voice is still there. I need her to slay a couple of televised performances live so people will shut up. It's funny how when Mariah misses a note, it's headline news but the news doesn't highlight her amazing performances. Whereas when other singers have good performances, they are all over the news, be it at a concert or a show. So I need Mariah to really blow everyone up with a high profile televised appearance. Also Stella how are we doing on that "how to get away with murder" cameo?

2016 Billboard Music Awards / AI finale (61,189) by Malcolm from Asia
So Mariah might attend the BMAs. If it's true, I wish she performs her new single there. Time to show her amazing vocals with the wider audience and viewers, prove that she still is the songbird supreme and to shut down the haters. Next stop, to slay the 2017 Grammys. I'm disappointed that Mariah doesn't send a message at the AI finale, she is the only judge who doesn't. Props for Nicki Minaj for showing some gratitude. For me, giving some at least 15 seconds of your time in an organization that once you've been with is called professionalism. Whatever the problems or conflict that happened before, I guess giving a short clip and putting aside the drama represents the person's personality. It really says something to that person. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong but for me, she must said something on the finale, if she really hates AI that much perhaps wishing the contestants good luck is not bad at all.

Martyn, you know you just jealous that someone else got to "deposit on Mariah" and you didn't, babes. Well, her Alison's probably on Truvada and it's not getting her a meet-and-greet anytime soon lmao too much? I'm going to hell.

Connecting with fans/how to do meet and greets (61,186) by Tiina from Finland
We were discussing this earlier and I'd like to try and explain what I meant a little better when I said that while Mariah was very sweet to us, I didn't feel like there was a real connection there. It wasn't a criticism of her as a person at all. I believe her when she says she wants to connect with her fans. There's plenty of proof of that. I still view her as one of the most generous stars ever. Mariah reminds me of Marilyn Monroe who said that it was the people who made her, no studio, no person. I feel like Mariah gets that and lives by it. What I meant by saying that there was a lack of connection was that there simply wasn't enough time for it and because you got the sense that they just wanted us out as fast as possible. Now, I want to point out that I fully realize it's neither realistic nor fair to Mariah to go to a meet and greet and expect to be able to sit down with her for like an hour and share a one-on-one conversation with her. It would be very selfish of any of us to expect her to give so much of herself to so many people. She simply cannot do that because, first, there would never be enough time, and second and most importantly, it would be emotionally draining for her. There is only so much Mariah can give of herself to her fans, even though she appreciates our support. At the end of the day, she's a human being, not a machine. But since people spend enormous amounts of money on the tickets, the meet and greets should be organized better, so that the whole thing would run smoothly from start to finish. However, that is not Mariah's responsibility. Mariah's job is to be Mariah. She has to be "on" through the entire time. While it might not seem like it, her job is the most stressful of all. Her team needs to make sure that Mariah is secured and stays on schedule. They should also put in the effort to give fans their money's worth. It's not rocket science to make the meet and greets a great experience for all. It just takes some planning and organizing to do. But they have to plan and organize these tours anyway. Fans should be let known exactly how much time they have with Mariah and then be given some simple pointers beforehand, like to first take the pictures to get that out of the way, then talk to her, so to not risk the pictures. That would have been very helpful. I think each fan should get 30 seconds one-on-one time with Mariah, that's all. Cut in half, that would leave 15 seconds to take the two pictures successfully, then the other 15 seconds to get to talk to her to bond with her for a moment. Compared to the 7-10 seconds most of us got, 30 seconds would have felt like an eternity. Most importantly, her team needs to work the meet and greets in on the tour schedule. They should consider the fact that there will be at least 15 people coming to the meet and greets each show night. It would have made it much more pleasant for everybody had they not rushed us like the way they did. The same thing seems to happen night after night at most of the meet and greets. If the amount of time each fan would get to spend with Mariah would be set beforehand and taken in consideration when creating the schedule for the night, they wouldn't be in such a hurry. Just make sure to stay on schedule and explain to the fans that it's important to co-operate and be thoughtful of other fans and not try and linger with Mariah, so to not waste time for the next person coming in taking the picture. Also, less people should be at the scene to make it less haphazard. Obviously, the security team needs to be there as well as her hair and makeup people and the photographer and a few people who would make sure everyone got their 30 seconds, no more, no less. But don't have the entire entourage when it's not even needed.
