Giovanni, I think this is genuinely one of those times that a live performance has beaten the original track (Here is... Mariah Carey, Proctor's Theatre). A bit like Hero (Fantasy Live, MSG), When You Believe (Oprah), etc. I would pay good money if there was a live version of All I've Ever Wanted.

Randy, I think Adele's new single probably isn't her best but people are excited that she's back. It's current/relevant and she has respect. Mariah's songwriting isn't that anymore. But then many will say "she's writing music she wants to write". I'd prefer her to write music people want to hear. And, yes, in a range she can actually sing that doesn't sniff of being engineered. Not sure if "saving her voice for the studio" isn't the daftest thing I've read in a while. But your "man in the moon" comment is the funniest.

What Mariah needs (57,737)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

Other than fans like us telling her what to do, is a serious drastic re-branding. I know, I know, her image is slowly under repair but really, she could use a total image overhaul that doesn't compromise her essence and individuality in any way. Case in point: Janet Jackson. With her current wardrobe on tour and also in public appearances, one could say she's being the "anti-Janet", as she has always been associated with risque outfits and raunchy stunts since her self-titled album came out. Now she's suddenly all covered up, and even her new music is nowhere (like light years away) as pornorgraphic as it used to be. Janet's Unbreakable isn't exactly selling truckloads, but by reining in the sex, more critics directed their attention to the music instead. As much as most of us love Mariah's devil-may-care philosophy with her penchant for form-fitting ensembles, we all know she doesn't need any of that to be sexy or beautiful. I like fun Mariah, but I woudn't mind if she suddenly went all serious (most common erroneous translation: boring) on us and toned down the opulence for relatability. Mariah may not need to beg for critical acclaim, but how she presents herself may help gain back her older fans she lost along the way.

Re: Lip syncing issue (57,709) (57,736)
by darrian liu from taiwan

Nodules help her hitting her whistles because nodules create that tiny hole you have to make to hit those notes. Without nodules, you need to train the muscle coordination to whistle correctly. Mariah had half the work done for her whistle, which is to basically make that tiny hole form with her vocal cords. She just needs to control them which she is a master at. Her belts should be 99% of the time perfect if she doesn't have nodules because she has an amazing technique but because of nodules, she had a little bit more off moments if she doesn't warm up properly or is in a bad day. One of her technical weakness is the incorrect position of larynx in her low notes but it happens only occasionally. She gets airy and lowes her larynx below Bb2 which is pretty damn low for even a guy. But she's vert consistent down to D3, having moments below it. Actually, she'll amazing if she takes enough vocal rest and continues to work on her technique.

It probably is Stella, especially with fringe game strong - wasn't she the fringe lady before we knew her role in Mariah's camp?Although I liked the GOW behind the scene moments, I was shocked and I mean shocked when she posted a photo of her left side, willingly.

Luke, I doubt it is a clue. Unless "Fringe Game strong" and "All gold everything" are her upcoming singles haha. I think it's Stella operating her account trying very hard to sound like Mariah but failing.

Is she divorced or not? (57,733)
by Marissa from USA

I have heard so many conflicting stories regarding Mariah's divorce. I thought I heard that the divorce was finalized in April. Now every time I look up an article is saying that she has yet to finalize the divorce. Which is it? If she isn't yet, this is one hell of a hold up.

Exactly. I love you, Bill. I don't care if Mariah lips every performance she does for the rest of her career because doing so preserves her voice for future recordings and Mariah's best in the studio, right Andrew?

"Take a bunch of selfies and pick the right ones to post. Make little random clips singing acapella of obscure songs and make it a NTT moment, something." Amen to that Lee TS. That's exactly what she should do. If she isn't feeling selfies just take pictures of the places she is at or whatever. I am tired with the recycled photos and cheesy/weird/non-sense captions. I love the idea about random acapella of obscure songs or fan favourites. I think her social media presence was much better during 2013 when she would post glamorous shots of her getting ready for idol and her flashy life. That's what celebs do on insta. Also I hope to God she does a new shoot for MAC. That same photo from E=MC2 is so overused by now. MC, holla at you girl and also Lee for more ideas.

I agree and I've been meaning to post about her social media presence, it's kind of non-existent. Her and her team needs to step their game up, look at her numbers, they've been stoic while her understudy flew pass her in flying colors as her stardom grew. Or just look at someone like a JLo who has a respectable number of followers on Twitter/Instagram. Mariah needs to make it more personable and fun. Instagram is all about being pretty that's why the Kardashians are killing it. I don't care but Mariah needs to have good lighting on at all times and take a bunch of selfies and pick the right ones to post. Make little random clips singing acapella of obscure songs and make it a NTT moment, something. Her and her team needs to get on it. Sorry but M you have to stunt a little on the Instagram, flash them diamonds and G5's.

Oh gosh she finally made it with her own little segment on Clevver, although not the main channel. I like how the host was precise and gave her a nice recap in Mariah's movie career. Watch the clip, I watch them to help me stay young and hip with the kids haha.

That was confusing me too. I know she's a busy gal but I'd love to know that it is just her posting on her social networks. Perhaps she's hinting to her amazing album since both of those are from 2005. Could be signs for another killer album like that.

Article: Mariah Carey and James Packer are living together (57,724)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
I have remained silent on her personal issues for over a year now, but I hope this one isn't true. Hopefully she finishes her divorce before doing anything this dramatic. This has to be confusing to her young children and she is not desperate for a place to live. She should put her desires to spend 24/7 with a man, far below what might be best for her kids. she was shady for taking them on a summer vacation and then tweeting happy fathers day to Nick. She is the more mature one in the relationship, so she should act it and always put her children's well being first and foremost. Mariah is enough to deal with on her own, she should learn the best and worst of [censored] Packer before she folds him into her children's lives. I won't even begin to drag him, yet. Lol.

Social media (57,723)

Whoever is operating Mariah's instagram needs to really get their head in place. What's with the uber random old photos with even more random captions. Like the picture from SIO cover with the caption "fringe game". Then another picture from TEOM era with the caption "all gold everything". Why is it even necessary to post these? I appreciate the little behind the scenes stuff she posts like the movie and the GOW ad ones, but enough with the old photos with weird captions unless its a clue to the new project, which I highly doubt.

There are plenty of places online where you can run Mariah into the ground and be lauded for it. Must you bring it to her fan site? I don't mean to condescend but I have genuine puzzlement as to why you'd want to invest your time in something that makes you unhappy, and on a site where you only seem to like a handful of the members. I'll pass on meeting you in person, thanks all the same.

Keeping lambs close and your Andrews closer (57,713) (57,721)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

Mohd Syafali Izwan from Malaysia: "He is just so annoying. Always talk the same issue. Can you just enjoy her music and the voice? Even though she is lip sync but still it is her voice. What is your problem? We all here want to enjoy the music by MC, why you always talk about her voice over and over again? Get a life." I thanked your post because I agree with you in spirit. But on principal it's another matter. You see, Andrew's and his hater ilks delusions are the only certain way we can be confident we are truly sane and fair. His very presense proves we are not living in an oxygen-deficient bubble (unlike him). Believe it or not, he makes us look good. His commentary is so extreme that it allows those who are even just slightly yielding in their hate to go under the radar as "moderate" posters when in reality, in analysing their text, they are just as bad as he is. It's basic politics. Banning him would negate the fact that he's just the figurehead for the anti-Mariah legion to look like they are reasonable, compared to him. There is at least 1 very active poster looking to usurp him at any given moment. Just let the moderator censor him when needed. All of this was just for me to say, let's keep Andrew for as long as he likes.

Hello? (57,720)

The charlatan is the epitome caricature of a Mariah-hater. It's hilarious how he will jump in front of a bullet for every other human being on the planet (bar lambs) to put Mariah down. I mean, all I said was that Adele and MiMi are both true singers and not lipsynching machines, like other lessers we know, for him to selfcombust for days and days in rant after rant. He's gone so far as defending imaginary people since I never named any names. To him it doesn't matter who they are, as long as he can pit them against Mariah. This amuses me on 7 different channels. It's also very interesting to note which posters address this ridiculousness and which never do (except for that other charlatan trying to fool us with their 180° turnaround). Sip that tea, slooow.

Anytime you need a friend (57,716)
by Giovanni from USA

I just blasted "Anytime you need a friend" on my stereo like 5 times. This is Mariah at her best. Still gives me chills each listen. Absolutely love the "don't ever be lonely" at the ending of the song. "Music box" is such an amazing album. I don't care how Mariah feels. She is awesome with ballads. Still hoping for a big belting song that will blow everyone away.
