What is this mess (60,139)
by Lee TS from USA

Wow I am almost infuriated for Mariah now. Just when I thought JLo can be put behind. She's now signed onto Epic courtesy of LA Reid. What the? Their feud will never end. What is LA doing? I can't even know what to say.

Article: Mariah Carey flaunts 45 pound weight loss (60,138)
by Marissa from USA

45 pounds? I never realized there was that much weight to lose to begin with. She looks wonderful now. I know she wants to have a private wedding but I hope she shares some wedding pics with us whether via Instagram or a magazine. I need to see how snatched she will look in her dress.

I've forgiven JLo a long time ago and I think Mariah has too. She simply doesn't exist in Mariah's vortex. Anyone would've been upset. Let's imagine if them two divas were gangsters. Even if JLo was not the direct cause, she had a role in Tommy's agenda. She was messing with Mariah's cheddar and paper, that was how Mariah gets money. But yeah, JLo should apologize in private and move on. Good that she speaks well of Mariah when prompt to but she knows what had happened. If JLo really wants to extend an olive branch, she should go see Mariah at her show with flowers in hand. And I hope M would be gracious enough to receive it. Then we can finally put a rest to this mess.

Watch What Happens Live (60,136)
by Jono from USA

I know by posting this I'm only giving her more attention, but this is all I'm going to say. If I were to go to Vegas, I'd see two shows. For vocals and spectacular music: Mariah (obviously). For dancing/choreography: Britney. These two are the best at what they do, and are already iconic and living legends in their respective lanes. That's all.

Topic change (60,135)

I went to the Mariah concert in Vegas February 19 and I loved it. I was a little scared about the voice because of the comments that are thrown around about it being damaged or gone. It was there. This woman can sing. First time going to Mariah and was very pleased with the show. There was no lipping as some believe. She was adlibbing all over the place. Saw Will Farrel and pointed him out to my friends who told me it was not him but the next day there he was on MCA in a pic with Mariah. I can't believe I listened to them and didn't go talk to him. I would post a clip of Mariah's performance but I am not sure how from my iPad. Lol. Someone tell me how and I will post some great clips. I had amazing seats. Right at stage left and Mariah definitely pointed at me and waved. That is my story and I am sticking with it. Lol.

Billy I love Disclosure and yes Omen is groovy. Have you heard Latch? That one is older but it's with Sam as well and is one of my favorite songs ever. I haven't paid much attention to his poses lol.

The new Billboard rules (60,133)
by Nikki from usa
| |
|

Are weird as hell these days. I can't keep up with all the criteria and percentages. I know the streaming online counts for more than it used to. This would be a good time for MC to go back to her storyteller roots. I still want to see Mariah as a mermaid. In lieu of her gaming ad I am really interested in seeing Mariah in a dungeon and dragons kind of storyline. That would get views, if only for people scratching their heads and going WTF? It's been over a decade now, so I think it's safe for Mariah to return to her "formula" we haven't seen since Loverboy. There are some obscure cuts of her albums that I've been listening to which sound like they could be hits on the radio today. Wouldn't it be wild if her next #1 was due to an old song simply released to radio?

I hear you and thank you. I thought that comment was shady as hell too. Mimi, love, that wasn't directed at you specifically. Saying "you" is easier on a universal level than spelling out "general public", trying to remember the author of the article, or the 20 different commentators points I'm adding to. I did steal the diplomatic answer from your post because I thought that was a good point and I agree. I don't think MC hates J.Lo, I just don't think she has any respect for her after what she did and I doubt MC pays any attention to her at this point. You are right, both Irv Gotti and Ja Rule admitted to the theft in Vibe magazine.

Sam Smith (60,131)
by Billy from Greece

This is totally irrelevant, and I don't want to be hating on artists I don't like, just like I want Mariah to be respected regardless of whether someone likes her or not, but since this is pop culture we're talking about, let me make a politically incorrect statement: no more Sam Smith falsetto, please. It's just not right. And oh boy, lad has to really work on his lisp and enunciation. Not to mention the totally undeserving Oscar. And have you seen the way he's posing for the camera, the thing he does with his eyes/eyebrows? Good Lord, you're only been in the business for two years, relax. Someone needs to tell the Americans he's not really the male equivalent to Adele, and George Michael also has to step in and tell him to not copy his looks so faithfully. "Omen" with Disclosure is kinda groovy though. I stumbled upon his name in this board hence why this message happened.

I completely agree. I was very put off by the "it was a long performance" comment too. The performance itself had lasted about 4 and a half minutes. That is not long. The fact that she made that comment shows she still has beef with Mariah. For her to have the cheek to talk like that despite everything, unbelievable. Also Nikki, you absolutely nailed it. JLo is an attention seeker and she does bring up Mariah when she is not getting any. I only really watched Idol season 12. I had no idea she acted like Mariah was mean to her. It boils my blood grrr.

My response about JLo remains the same. It was the best thing she could have said at that point. In my post, when I said I didn't find her response offensive, I was solely taking into account only that response at that particular time. Everything she said or did earlier is irrelevant here because one doesn't need Einstein to understand that JLo and MC don't gel well. So I know what she said before, but when I said that was the best thing she could say without sounding bitchy or shading Mariah, it was solely (and I emphasize solely) about that one quote where she said why she didn't go to her concert. She is an A-list celeb like it or not, and they have images to maintain for their own brands. What did you expect her to say? Oh I don't like Mariah so I didn't go? Or I was scared Mariah would publicly ignore me at her show so I didn't go? When Mariah is asked about JLo she says "I don't know her" (which she then defends saying she only meant she didn't know JLo personally) but we know MC hates JLo, but will Mariah ever say "I hate her, she is a lying thief and given the chance I would grill her big booty?" No right? Why? Because Mariah is an A-list so she has her brand and she won't dive head first into a public insult. So same goes for JLo. In that time frame when she had to say why she didn't go, she could either say I didn't go because I hate Mariah or say I just couldn't make time (even though it is a lie). It's simple as that. They are not normal people like us that they can just say whatever comes to their head about the other person. What I found offensive in that segment was when JLo said "it was a long performance" (when she defended her texting scandal during the BBMAs). It wasn't a long performance and the way she said "long" kind of made is sound like she meant boring. So that's it.

Promotion (60,128)
by Giovanni from USA

I hope Mariah goes on every talk show to promote her new album. "The View", "Ellen", "The Talk", "Good Morning America", Jimmy Kimmel, even on Steve Harvey. The promo has to as big as it was in 2005 so Stella better have Mariah everywhere. The reason why "The Emancipation Of Mimi" was so successful was because Mariah brought the music and promoted like crazy. So I'm so looking forward for the new single and era. Mariah is going to do just fine. I cannot wait for the slayage that's about to come.

Glad to see that Mariah is accepting these kind of gigs, it will definitely benefit her in introducing her more with GP. I can't with Solange Knowles fangirling with MC "Mariah Carey can you sing 'Underneath the stars' and '4th of July' and 'Betcha gone know' and 'Hate u' at Essence Fest so I can go to heaven?" She's sound so lamb with that. I hope Mariah will perform her new single there.

"If We" was indeed recorded before "I'm Real". Either Irv Gotti or Ja Rule said it himself that Tommy called him up and asked him to record the same thing with JLo. It was all Mariah's vision, but Tommy asked them to recreate it with JLo and then released it quickly. It went to #1, so imagine how pissed Mariah must have been.

Gotta say it (60,124)
by Nikki from usa

If all J.Lo needs to do is smile and give a few excuses for you to buy it, then you'll pretty much be scammed all your life. Jennifer has a tendency to go for Mariah when she needs attention and she's always been very competitive. When Shakira's song easily overtook her own for FIFA, J.Lo was asked to end the show instead of starting it. J.Lo responded by making fun of Shakira on instagram. J.Lo was singing MC's praises at the beginning of Idol, but at the end of it she was complaining that Mariah was so "mean to her" and said "mean things about her" 10 years ago and didn't know why. To what do we owe that mood swing? She was attempting to jump on the Nicki vs. Mariah thing for some attention after the flop of her tour. By the way, that whole "texting" thing was clearly from an angle of someone sitting next to her. I'm sure that wasn't planned. Then, she goes on this same show to say she'd rather go to Britney's show than Mariah's because "she dances". J.Lo knows the host is a big Mariah fan, she's not stupid. This year J.Lo did indeed give a diplomatic answer, just not an honest one. She had time to watch everyone from Cher to Celine, but was too busy for Mariah's? She should've stuck with the "dancing" excuse, it was more honest. After all, MC isn't missing her and likes shows where the singer actually sings. Be real, J.Lo.

And, caps, she was looking way way more tired the past couple years, naturally with everything she was going through such as the end of a marriage, heartbreak, physical pain, nerve damage, and who knows what kind of painkillers she may have been on. Nobody knows exactly what someone else goes through. So in comparison to that, she is looking fresh as [censored]. That's why it's surprising that this topic is coming up now when she's looking so good and more youthful.

Well look at that we agree on yet another thing. No, you are not the only one Deedre. Not at all. Some people need to let it go and move on. Yes I'm a fan of J.Lo and enjoy her songs and movies, and would have seen her in Vegas last week when I was there if she was performing. She works her ass off and I'm sure she's not just sitting there plotting against our girl. But still I'm saying this objectively, it's not that serious. And yes, I do think that Idol messed up when Mariah was on Idol. They focused on and/or caused the drama, and that was kinda trashy and lame.

Further to my post below, here's an article that says Ja Rule was contacted by Tommy after recording If We, to do something similar with JLo on I'm Real. I know Mariah's motto is "we love everybody", but I don't, and I certainly don't love JLo. Maybe Tommy was the mastermind behind Glitter's destruction but no doubt JLo was only happy to oblige to make way for her own success. As Billy pointed out, Glitter was a very tough era for Mariah and for the lambily. I'm definitely one of those lambs who will never forget the hardship and the undue humiliation we all went through at the time. For that reason I will never forgive JLo. I hope she never goes to see Mariah in Vegas. She would not be welcome. I'm glad Mariah is able to talk about her today in the manner that she does. It only shows how strong a woman she is, considering what they put her through.

"My (*emphasis*) last album was Rainbow" (2002) (60,119)
by Billy from Greece

Mariah during Charmbracelet era, pretending as if Glitter never happened. Listen to how she stresses "my" to indirectly imply, for those in the know, that Glitter did occur but it was a soundtrack so it doesn't count. Remember those years, early 2000s? Tough years to be a Mariah fan for sure, but I also kinda appreciate that I was "there" to experience it, in the sense that it was more "special" since not many people stuck with her then (which is not totally true, since she did sell several millions even then, but you get my point), if that makes any sense. The interviewer is also very nice and cute, soft-spoken, good questions. They had previously got together during Rainbow.

I highly doubt that will ever happen lol. If We on Glitter is the only track on the album which does not appear in the film. I always thought it was Mariah's way of saying "been there, done that". I wouldn't be surprised if it was recorded before JLo's I'm Real remix featuring Ja Rule (please correct me if I'm wrong). JLo or her team would not have had the creative vision to have Ja Rule on board. Another instance of Tommy's involvement? Why else would Mariah include If We on the album, unless it's from a scene that was cut out from the movie. I don't recall anyone ever explaining why that song made it to the album (again, please enlighten me if I'm missing something). All these "explanations" by Mariah and JLo about the feud between them are simply showbiz politics. JLo should keep up the positive commentary. Lord knows it's the only way she can ever make up for what was done to Mariah during the Glitter era.

Am I the only one? (60,117)

Who legitimately feels there is no feud between Mariah and JLo? The Loverboy sample was so long ago. Mariah has said several times that even though "I don't know her" was taken by and large as diva shade, she meant it in a way like she didn't "know" her well enough to comment on the question she was being asked about her. As for JLo texting during the BB Awards performance, at the time I thought it was blown way out of proportion, and I still think that. I watched the plead the fifth thing, and I think she is being honest when she said there is no feud. Her answer felt genuine as to why she hasn't seen Mariah's show. And as for JLo emulating Mariah in some ways, if that's indeed true (lots of celebrities lie the honey blonde look etc) as a Mariah fan, I take it as a compliment. I think JLo is more of a dancer/entertainer. Maybe that's just me. Idol didn't treat Mariah well at all, they messed up a really good thing in doing so too. But it's not like JLo was behind the scenes, going "Yeah, treat Mariah badly please." Lol. And yeah, JLo is kinda everywhere with Idol and her TV show and Vegas. I don't know, I guess I don't take things as competitive. I think she's just out there working. The media is going to respond how it does, regardless.

Oh please, Mariah isn't checking for Jennifer. And she certainly does not need her to come to one of her shows. They'll never be cool much less friends so you can forget about it. The actual talented artists I'd like to go see Mariah in Vegas would be John Legend, Sam Smith or Adele.

Stunning (60,115)

Mariah looked stunning. It was a black dress but it was a cute one, the fishnet stockings I didn't like so much, it didn't flatter her legs or did them justice, but it's taste. Her hair, Honey feelings lol. The eyes aka dem eye bags, really is that an important issue? Well okay, it's not that uncommon, I'm 10 years younger and I have them (it can be a family thing, if you get my drift), it's something called aging as well, or being tired. She was glowing so much that I didn't really pay attention to the under eye area, and even by looking at the pics I don't see anything to worry about, as already mentioned some angles just made it seem worse.
