I agree. Mariah should be allowed to lipsync a song or two every now and then. Doing so preserves her voice. I never understood why people act like it isn't and hasn't always been a common practice in the industry. Elvis was probably lipsyncing on The Sullivan Show back in the day. However, her poor attempt at lypsyncing Fantasy at the Jamicia Jazz festival is unforgivable. It was like she was sabatoging herself. Self sabatoging is something I do and it actually made Mariah more endearing to me. If and when she does it she needs to do so with effort and gusto. She knows how to do so convincingly so I can't explain that Fantasy debacle. She lipped portions of her uptempo #1's during her Vegas show but it wasn't noticeable or distracting. I think Vegas is the perfect venue for Mariah. I think I might go to a February show if I can next year.

So fetch (57,257)

Lacey Chabert, the actress who plays Gretchen in Mean Girls is starring in Mariah's A Christmas Melody. You know Mariah was instrumental in Chabert's casting. Another (early) Christmas gift from Mariah. This Christmas is going to be so fetch. Mariah also has her annual seasonal show at the Beacon Theatre, the book, the lipstick, and the reissue of Merry Christmas coming up (out) this year. I'm feeling festive.

I didn't think you were, just saying because it annoys me that people talk about her lipsyncing like she should be superhuman lol. She would have had a different perspective in her 20's when she was young and agile but things change unfortunately and I think Mariah of all people is allowed a little lipsync.

We don't known what limitations her voice has, if any. She also said singing in a lower key would strain her voice. Some of the comments are shady but look at the commenters.

Mariah Christmas show at The Beacon (57,251)
by Anthony Carey from U.K

Well guys, I got my show tickets. Thank God especially as I had already booked my flights and hotel from the UK. The only thing I will say is I am slightly disappointed that I was unable to purchase the VIP tickets as they only accepted customers who reside in USA/Canada. I even telephoned Ticketmaster from the UK and was on for 30 minutes begging and pleading haha. I have managed to book the last 2 shows anyway as I land on December 15th - wouldn't it be good if she added another date for me to go at the end. Enjoy the show guys.

Watch him talk about Mariah on Kelly and Michael here starting from 11:35. Or just watch the whole interview because he's so likable and refreshing. I actually remember him from a small gay indie film before Empire he starred in with M's backup dancer Anthony Burrell - the "Cry." dancer if you will. Good to see him doing so well and hope there are more Mariah moments. I secretly hope Mariah makes nice with Shonda Rhimes over at ABC to get a few guest starring roles, and we know how she's a fan of the shows. Oh dear, I wasn't even thinking of Grey's Anatomy but what if she plays an opera singer who needs to get vocal surgery and everything goes wrong. You never know with the right role she can be up for an Emmy, come on. Make it happen Stella.

I guess Randy's Q was meant in a different way, 90's Mariah on 2015 MC. I think Randy was having more of a deep thinking here. It's like we can all look back on us and be like wish I had done this or hadn't done that but the wish I had (not) is something that really doesn't exists since we cannot change past. What if being in lets say October 1993 for example and some sort of "Christmas ghosts" would show up to MC and let her envision her own self through the years to come and what would that 1993 Mariah would be like on her own self. What would she say, what would she think, what'd she do, what would she avoid doing, what would she think twice before acting/doing/trying/saying something. It'd be a very interesting exercise to do for anyone: try to position yourself on a younger era when you were living the best time of your life (that's why I said Oct 1993 as an example) and then try to analyse everything from that perspective on and keeping it true to your own back then self. Imho she wouldn't be as proud as she says she is of what she's done like must of us wouldn't as well. It'd be pretty surprising how many things you, just like in the movie, would start doing differently and that kind of envision when keeping it true to that starting point can really, even knowing you cannot change what's already been done, help you implementing some changes on your life cause it's never too late to start doing something that is for good.

To you Luke and Marissa. I wasn't trying to be shaddy just making a joke. I love Mariah and I was just thinking that when you are young you feel invincible. I sure Mariah knew she could hit any note see wanted to in her sleep, even when she was awake and sick back in the day she still sounded better than most today. Remember she said herself that she kept pushing her voice and vocals higher and harder to see what she could accomplish, even when her mom and some critics said she should take it easy. But imagine how you will feel seeing yourself very successful in the future but reality hit you that your invincibility that you thought you had now has some limitations.

Mariah is, was, and will always be The Voice. Even with the supposed decline she's still untouchable. Her voice is a gift from God. She's a songbird in human form. I was watching the Oprah interview during the promotional campaign for Butterfly and Mariah said she was medolically driven. She was coining catchphrases even then.

I think she'd congratulate herself for a job well done and tell her herself to go to the Rockefeller tree lighting this year and redeem herself and remind the world why she's earned the right to be a first class diva. Beyone [sic] doesn't compare and sorry Arianna it's never going to happen.

She would probably say something silly like "How she has that hair? I must get her stylist darling." Haha. I thought of this because every time someone shows her a picture of herself from the past she says something about the hair, she wouldn't be Mariah if it wasn't about the hair.

Hmm, I think she'd be proud. Look at how far she's come and what she's accomplished and is still going strong. Once upon a time 90's Mariah hoped for "some success". I like how some people here act like they wouldn't consider lipsyncing after 25 years of vocal acrobatics.

I'm happy for Janet. She deserves all the love. Her new album is her best in a long time. Mariah will have her time as well, she could have had it with MIAMTEC, but she'll have it when the time is right. No need for any comparison of anything because the bottom line is that they're both legends in their own ways.

Hey Randy, good question. 2015 Mariah talking to 1990 Mariah? A scene from Friends comes to mind: "Shutup, the camera adds ten pounds." "Yes, but how many cameras are actually on you?"

The Janet love is shortlived. The Mariah love is eternal. Therefore Mariah can't get love everyday like it's nothng. Mariah love is of great value, and doesn't happen to everyone.

'90 MC would probably say something like, "I don't think we can be categorized as singers because I don't lip sync my performances. Where some artists are more image based and overtly sexual, I want to be recognized for being a singer-songwriter. I like her heart necklace though, very cute." Lol I don't know just for laughs.
