Proud to be a Mariah fan (56,178) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales Whether or not she makes all these quite profound and ground-breaking changes people suggest (lose weight, dress more conservatively and become "more mature") I am and always will be extremely proud to be a huge Mariah fan. How shallow for me to be embarrassed to be a fan. Again, do I think Mariah is perfect? No. But what I do admire about her is she is doing it her way, and contrary to popular opinion, I for one truly don't believe she's ignorant to the point of only listening to yes people and doesn't know the opinion of the wider public. Maybe it's another act of rebellion, because the public and media has not for a very long time given her the respect she deserves. So maybe now she doesn't give a hoot. And I for one applaud her for that. On a final note, all those people talking about Infinity being an awful song as if this is a fact, I hate to burst your bubble but it's not a fact and I absolutely love Infinity. It's very special to me and I think it's a beautiful song. I understood where Mariah was when she wrote it. Please can we all respectfully recognise our own opinions are not gospel, and regardless of the "evidence" we can provide to back up our claims, things like good or bad songs are just opinions. Where is the Mariah Carey that invented the thug-love collabs? The one who made groundbreaking remixes, the one who created a sound that's the basis of almost every pop artist uses in their music? That Mimi would never make such an uninspired song like Infinity and its awful remix. I want her to take inspirations from those beautiful cities and places she visited with JP throughout summer. Combine all those distinct sounds from each city and create music that is true to her heart. Infinity was definitely not that kind of music. A full song version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. 2. Her Hark The Herald Angels Sing version from GMA 1991 or even just adding the live performance. 3. Her version of Where Are You Christmas? She was supposed to sing it originally, but Tommy stopped that from happening and Faith Hill ended up singing it and making her an even bigger star. It would be great to finally hear her sing it. Speaking of Trey Lorenz, his whole debut is great. Mariah and Walter co produced. It's like a lost Mariah album. You should check out Make You Happy, it's Mariah singing back up on a sexual, contemporary sounding r&b song during that period in 1992. (Friday 21 August 2015; 4:12)

She doesn't give a flying saucer. Stupid Stella won't be a friend and tell her what's up even though she probably snoops on our pages. James was giving her a cue by loosing more weight this time around. Is she still on vocal steriods? Mariah is lean and big boned, but she needs to tone up. As in exercise. Re: Israel (56,159) (56,170) by 123 from USA She has regressed vocally from the last couple shows in Vegas. Her live vocals on the last two shows were bright, clear, and resonant. Her voice was in bad shape in this show and it was painfully obvious when the pre-records came on. In Vegas, she did a good job singing live and blending well into the pre-record where most non-lambs would never notice. In this show, it was like they were really trying to make it obvious. On a positive note, she gave a good vocal performance of My All that is worth checking out. I really hope she gets back to working on following a regiment that will help her sound good vocally when she performs. It was too big of a crowd not to. (Friday 21 August 2015; 4:00)

In terms of more mature music was MIAM not mature? Excluding thirsty, Money and YDKWTD the majority of that album was very mature. Of course she's done better songs than Infinity and its remix but would you release your best material after an awful year when it would most likely go down the drain and be ignored? I have no doubt she will pull out all stops when she's ready but I think she's just chilling this year, not worrying about her appearance, not letting songs she's proud of being shat on and getting back in the swing of things. After 2014 and her arm I'd imagine she's just working at a slower pace and hopefully figuring everything out. It's all well and good us wanting her to be fit, slim, vocally pristine and almost perfect but she's not a robot. Perhaps she's tired of the high expectations? (Friday 21 August 2015; 3:00)

I think she also needs new producers and collaborators. A mature sound could work as could embracing Disco. I think we can all agree that we want to see Mariah back at #1. Mariah delivered musically with MIAM but the messy rollout (the multiple delays) and poor single choices ruined the albums chances for success. She needs a sense of agency, she needs to pique interest instead of doing what she's known for to mixed results. She should also stop with the remixes, if a single fails a remix isn't going to save it or breathe life into it. (Friday 21 August 2015; 2:35)

The clothes (56,165) by Andrew from UK Luke, Mariah is, of course, free to wear what she wants. However, like the musical direction (is there one? the "vomiting over the microphone" comment posted here was really funny) the ensemble direction is questionable. Many people want Mariah to be able to compete again, and be an artist they are proud to support once more. It's fair to say it's been a rocky road lately and silly to deny that Mariah hasn't been losing fans and respect at an accelerated rate. If people are getting emotional it's because they are perhaps frustrated. Another recent poster suggested a more mature sound to recapture the fans who grew up with her who have fallen away in recent years, instead of trying to be cool and down-with-the-kids. If many lifelong and long-term fans are admitting they've aged and changed etc. is it wrong to question why Mariah is not? Could argue both ways, I think. However, I would say that wearing classier, less-revealing outfits would further help reduce the mocking that Mariah faces on a daily basis. This is even more true if she continues to put on the pounds at this rate. Society will, for the most part, only forgive "hot" people when they wear such clothes. Why not go for a more mature sound, with a more mature look, a more mature attitude, more grounded behaviour: generally a return to the class that was there in bygone eras but updated? Is it necessarily age-discrimination or prejudice to ask for this? You could probably argue that it is. And Mariah can defy this at her leisure, such is free-will. But it's probably the only thing that will save her career and apeopley damage-control to her legacy. (Friday 21 August 2015; 1:54)

Mariah needs to take a step back (56,160) by Mirage from Unicornatopia Mariah needs to take a step back and really think about where she wants to go as an artist. Infinity is poor, and the remix feels like Mariah, French and Justin just vomited different segments of rubbish on the mic. It is utter nonsense, and indeed makes zero sense. What Mariah needs to do is reflect on where she is going as an artist. She is now at a point where she can either continue to chase that number 1 single, and try to do what's hot, or she can concentrate on making more mature music, reflective of her age and the fans that grew up with her. If she does the former, she will look pathetic and try hard IMO, but if she does the latter, she may actually regain respect, as well as old fans. Mariah should stop chasing new fans and focus on regaining old fans. It would be a more astute strategy. Working with Diane Warren is a step in the right direction, but Mariah should seriously think in a more strategic way. Vegas is helping to rebuild her reputation, and is reminding people why her back catalogue is so great, but she needs to capitalise on that and think about her overall direction more. Making a cohesive album, that strikes a cord with fans that grew up with her will not only sell more, but it probably stands a better chance of getting a surprise hit single. Israel (56,159) by darrian liu from taiwan The vocals were decent but wasn't a showstopper like Beacon or the last days of Vegas. I can hear her voice drying out and more raspy than the July dates of Vegas. This really shows that Mariah needs to use her voice more regularly and really train her voice more seriously. There's not enough brightness in her belts and it could harm her voice. She needs to balance her mixed voice. It's a good show though. (Thursday 20 August 2015; 12:56)

I would love that and it would definitely keep me satisfied until she gets her new material ready. Instead of re-releasing Merry Christmas they should focus on that. If the purpose of re-releasing Merry Christmas is about making more money then I think they would make extra money if they just drop that unreleased material on iTunes today. I don't even need any of these songs to be added to the radio, just give me the music. Lol. I have never heard that Trey Lorenz song before that you mentioned. It's nice.
