Re: Bryson Tiller x Mariah (100,964) (100,965) by Robert-Anthony from United States
This is wonderful news T. Thank you for sharing. MC was really impressed that Bryson Tiller interpolated Shake Off in his song Don't. I wonder if the collaboration will be a mid-tempo jam or rap song. Either way I am excited.

Bryson Tiller x Mariah (100,964) by T from USA
Bryson Tiller is someone who is exciting the R&B/hip hop world has revealed in an interview that he's collaborating with Mariah. This could be big as his sound is quite different. He's a great artist. Interesting how's it's the third RCA artist collaboration (Khalid, Latto and now Tiller). I just hope it's not a Christmas song. Or worse, one of those MC projects that never see the light of day.

Re: Still here (100,962) (100,963) by jaker20 from US
Oh I don't believe any of their numbers. I would believe Mariah sold 1.5 billion before I believe any of the others. Like how did Halsey sell 150 million or Nicky Minaj 100 million or Madonna jumped from 250 m to 400 m in less than 10 years when sales are dead and she's not relevant anymore. Even Cyndi Lauper gets more streaming than her. Now Taylor, Rihanna, Beyonce, and everyone are claiming wild numbers.

About that Billboard list, I would put Mariah number 2 but I wouldn't be surprised for her to go to number 1 eventually. You see, that's why other artists are manipulating their numbers, because they don't have any classics that will outlast all of us. By the way, I am not arguing though, I just sound like that lo.

Jaker this is the most pleasant argument you and I have ever had. Billboard named her number 4 on their top artists of all time. People can manipulate what they want. But publications with assets to lose that are respected know the power of MC. Look here.

Global Citizen NYC concert (100,961) by Brad from USA
Yes, yes, yes! This is the aspect of Mariah that I have longed to see Mariah take hold of and utilize her public persona for. Female rights, climate change action and poverty efforts. As an enviro, I've always wanted Mariah to advocate for the animals and oceans that she so loves. And she is always in a place to do that, regardless of whether she is "trending" or has a #1 hit or not. It's what you do when the cameras aren't rolling that really matters. I hope it is a wonderful and safe event for all involved and those attending. I considered going but mass gatherings in the USA aren't always safe, unfortunately. I would love to see Mariah come out strong, command the stage, sound strong and convey the messages on female empowerment, environmental action and income disparity that she means to convey.

Re: Still here (100,959) (100,960) by jaker20 from US
Depending on which source you look at, Rihanna has sold 250 million, which beats Mariah. Even Halsey's label Capitol Records is claiming she sold 150 million. Artists are gaming these numbers, because they are out there getting their records certified and conniving with various publications. Even Wikipedia's list of best selling artists is a joke. There is about a dozen data and chart trackers out there claiming so and so numbers. Just a few years ago, Sony Asia gave Mariah a certification for 1.6 billion sales units, which beats The Beatles making her the best selling artist of all time, yet nobody believed it, lambs included, even though Billboard published the article. But is it that far from the truth? She is the only artist, The Beatles included, that sells every single year after they once dominated the game. I guess I will start referring to that number. If you can't beat them, join them.

Re: Still here (100,956) (100,959) by Randy from USA
It's crazy because I used to worry about Rihanna beating Mariah's record of number ones. I don't think so now. I don't think Adele's 30 will go diamond. It's just a different time. What scares me most, jaker, is that none of these records or sales or Billboard won't mean anything anymore because the next generation doesn't care and no one will track sales because there are none. I've been a chart nerd since Casey Casem used to be on the radio. Yo if y'all wanna watch something interesting watch Madonna, Janet, Whitney, MC, Madonna and Celine's album chart positions in the USA here.

Re: My All (100,957) (100,958) by Stacey from USA
Ok well I finally got this song out of my head, it had been living there for awhile, and now it's back, lol. Thanks a lot. I agree. This song is one of her best ballads. It proves that sometimes less is more. I'm not talking about vocals, but overall production. It's just her, the guitar, and some percussion. Add to the fact we now know the circumstances surrounding the song's creation, just makes me love it more.

My All (100,957) by Bill from the UK
Every so often I am struck with how beautiful this song is. The gentle guitar, the subdued percussion, the ethereal lyrics and imagery, and of course Mariah's gorgeous vocals. So tentative, yet so intense at the same time. The song is so simple, but completely unforgettable. I was on my balcony in this glorious heatwave, as the day was cooling off. Headphones on, this track on repeat. I listened from sunset, through twilight, to the stars coming out.

You all notice how artists have been grossly inflating their numbers? I was watching Jimmy Fallon, and Madonna is now claiming to have sold 400 million. These claims kept going up during the last 10 years when sales are basically dead. I feel like many acts are scrambling to secure their spots because sales are over, so they are now grossly inflating numbers.

Meanwhile, Mariah is the only artist who can justify actual claims because she actually have a classic that literally sells annually.

What about a true original duet? (100,955) by Robert-Anthony from United States
I tweeted MC, Usher, and JD today that the time is now for an official Mariah and Usher original duet that is a slow jam type of love song. MC has never truly had a duet like Michael Jackson's I Just Can't Stop Loving You. This is the right time for MC and Usher to truly sing a duet that would capture radio's attention. Too much coffee this morning. Lol.

"MC had 8 albums, an ugly marriage and all the pressure that comes with fame and money before she turned 30."

So true and that was too much even for her. It would be for every human. What she has reached and experienced before 30 is unbelievable. Only Elvis, The Beatles, Michael and Whitney have had "similar" experiences I guess. I never judge her, I just want her to be happy and healthy. Musically she has reached everything and beyond, but to know she is really happy and taking care of herself would be something I wish from my deepest heart. So many of the greatest were so sad. But a few can be superstars while still grounded and relaxed after all and enjoy it. I just hope that Mariah is happy.

Still here (100,953) by Randy from USA
With Whitney's birthday yesterday and Olivia's passing, I just celebrate MC for being here. Prince, MJ, Whitney are all gone. So even though Madonna is still popping out her breast at 60 and has a 28 yo boyfriend, I celebrate Madonna. Even though Janet Jackson had a baby at an AARP convention and her face is pulled up into her ponytails, I celebrate Janet. Even though MC acts like Anna Nicole Smith and dresses like Jessica Rabbit, I celebrate MC. One thing that hit me recently, Beyoncé was 20 when that ugly Destiny's Child breakup happened. At 20 I was still throwing up in bar parking lots and having sex for a ride home. MC had 8 albums, an ugly marriage and all the pressure that comes with fame and money before she turned 30. I can't imagine but yet we judge them.

Hopefully we will get something along the lines of an HD quality recording of their Butterfly Tour duet on The Rarities 2. I'd even love an acoustic recording ala Close My Eyes from the first rarities album. MC's Instagram post was perfect.

Truly an icon. RIP. I love their duet of Hopelessly Devoted To You. I can tell Mariah was fangirling on stage and it's so cute to watch. I didn't realize it has so millions of views on YouTube. I get so many emotions watching it. She was a lovely person inside and out.

RIP to a true icon. She was a supporter of the LGBT community long before it was fashionable too. She will be missed. I'd love Mariah to cover I Honestly Love You. I think she could really do that song justice. However, this post is about ONJ. A true, true icon and star. A class act. Mariah's tribute was sincere and beautiful. God bless Olivia.

Yes, a bit creepy because we talked about her not long ago. I will always love "Grease" and the duet with Mariah. I always enjoyed the music of the classy woman. (Physical still gets played very often on "my" radio station.) Olivia will be missed. Almost all the "good ones" are gone. So sad.

It's very sad, yes. She was an icon and I remember being obsessed with Grease as Mariah says. And when Mariah released "Around The World" I watched their duet so many times. Mariah has just written a beautiful and heartfelt text on Instagram. Rip Olivia.

I've always wanted Mariah to cover Olivia's "Hopelessly Devoted" during her prime. Olivia always came across as a genuine and classy person, may her soul rest in peace.
