I kinda feel like a dunce now (44,183) by nikki from usa
But, I finally get it. She's combining all the genres she's ever done, but teaming them up with music that's been her favorite since she was little, along with the vocal stylings she's used throughout the years. In addition, this is why America the Beautiful is on the album. This was her first ever appearance televised live singing ATB in a stadium while she was still unknown. Memoirs chronicled her life in song, while this chronicled her love and life in music. In other tid bits, I really hope this doesn't make sense in a few weeks. #4, "relying on past favors", "restrictive assistance with strings attached", "unfavorable outside circumstance". I hope she does promo using her own imaginative ideas.

The best of the best / Anthony Basco (44,182) by Tarraga from New York City
1. Dedicated is everything. This song is, by far, the best song Mariah has ever done. It's one of those songs that you would play while cuddling with your hubby on the sofa or at the beach on a summer night. Timeless. So 90's.
2. Money: This song is f**** hot tamale. Perfect song to listen to while on vacation with your papi/mami (Capri, Ibiza, Santorini, you name it), or with friends on a shopping day.
3. Meteorite: In the good old days of Christopher Street's gay clubs this would make Madonna fans turn into lambs. Lol. Drags will definitely make it a gay club hymn. Yay.
4. YDKWTD: I picture myself on a club with friends dancing like crazy. Another gem.
5. Camouflage: This song is everything times 2. Raw emotions. Mariah's most personal song on the album and definitely my favorite.
6. MILG: Perfect to listen to during those long summer promenades while grabbing hands with your lover.
Anthony, thanks for the reply. It seems that we have a very similar taste. I am glad that other fans feel the same way I feel about Mariah's music.

iTunes (44,181) by NYHotShotta from USA
Anybody else pre-ordered her album off iTunes and noticed that the attached digital album booklet has errors? The song credits for Cry, Faded, Dedicated, #Beautiful, and Thirsty are printed twice and there's no song credits for Camouflage, Money, One More Try, and Heavenly.

USA lambs, I apologize if this was already discussed. The NBC special for Saturday night isn't appearing on the schedule. Has anyone heard anything?

Camouflage, wall of voices (44,179) by Terna from Nigeria
I have this song on repeat, sitting here with a smile on my face, just reveling in the beauty of this album and especially this song. It sounds like something that was left off Music Box straight outta '93 (I swear I hear the Price sisters on backup lol). Has anyone else noticed her use of a "wall of voices" effect on this new album? In the past Mariah used it to great effect, most notably ATYNAF and Music Box particularly. With this new album MIAM, she revisits that technique once again and the results are stellar. My fave tracks include Faded, Cry, Dedicated, #Beautiful (I loved this one since last year), You're Mine (did you notice the matchstick sound?),Make It Look Good, You Don't Know What To Do (someone needs to shut that Wale up, he's getting in the way of the vocal performance lol), Supernatural, Meteorite, The Art Of Letting Go (outstanding), Money and Heavenly. 9.5 Stars out of 10.

I saw on another site that Mariah performed Meteorite. I hope so. I love that song.

Anthony Basco (44,177) by Lee from UK
I hear what you're saying and respect your thoughts. I guess I just had high expectations after all of the hype surrounding this album concerning the voice and the style etc. For me a good Mariah song comes down to two things: 1. The timbre of the voice. 2. The song writing. In terms of the timbre, I know Mariah likes to experiment with different techniques and textures in her vocals and usually I am a big fan of this. I loved the Butterfly album when Mariah really took this to the next level. The difference with Butterfly for me is the quality was there in her voice even though she rarely gave us full power. In terms of the song writing on this album, it just feels a little amateur. I don't mean to offend anyone by this, what I mean is that most of these songs sound like they could have been written by Rhianna. Even the gospel tracks sound a bit too forced for my liking (and I enjoy a lot of gospel music). In answer to your question, I don't think Mariah could do any more to please me. I don't think she is capable of pleasing me any more (no disrespect intended). I am still in love with 90s Mariah and I'm proud of it. Mariah has outgrown me and as upsetting as that is, I have found other artists to give me what Mariah doesn't. I still listen to Mariah's music though (just not as much as her older stuff). Since Rainbow, I only find about 3 tracks from each album that I add to my daily playlists. The rest I tend to cycle through every now and then.

My album review (44,175) by Randy from USA
Let me start by saying I am a longtime fan. But I think MC is not interested in singing songs that I am interested in. My favorite songs from her are Right To Dream, Close My Eyes, Outside, Butterfly, My All, Petals and Languishing. There is nothing close to those on this album. There is a lot of production noise that overshadows the voice. Camouflage is the only song on the album I like a lot. Cry is good but her vocal is sloppy, I guess she's going for emotion. Faded is boring. Dedicated is boring and I don't understand all the talking, background noise or weird sample/percussion. #Beautiful is boring. Thirsty is good except when the parts where it loses the strings, keyboards and pop feel. Make It Look Good is cool but I need her vocal turned up over all that noise JD has in the background plus it sounds like Janet's I Want You part two musically. You're Mine is boring. You Don't Know What To Do is great but Wale needs to go. Supernatural is good even with the babies but not standout. Meteorite is OK but people keep saying that there's no EDM on the album, to me that's close. One More Try is one of her worst remakes. And the drum/percussion sounds like a really bad keyboard demo or a beat for a karaoke version. And it's emotionless. Heavenly is good but the four key changes are laughable considering I know the current state of her voice. And the remakes are cut and paste especially Becha Gon Know but at least Mary does sound good on It's A Wrap. I do love TAOLG but the lyrics are kind of goofy but her voice is loud over the music and I actually like the music to that one. Here's the thing. I think I'm just stuck in the past with two verses a bridge some piano some strings some percussion and maybe a bit of guitar and or bass and that is it. I think this album is for you all and I'm going to sit this one out. I don't blame MC for this nor am I disappointed. I don't like much that has come out in the last few years by most of my favorite artists. What I will say is this. I think MC is just as good of a songwriter as Adele, Sarah Mc, Jewel, Lauryn Hill and whoever else if not better. She's not given the respect as a songwriter because of her image but truth be told this album isn't going to help much in the way of that either. I'm waiting still for a simple, quiet, introspective album and she's still trying to rock the club and radio so as an older fan, 35, I'm younger than her which is ironic. I appreciate her doing what she wants to do and making music for her and that a larger majority of the public will like. But this ain't it for me.

WMA (44,174) by Darryle from USA
Uh oh Mariah was delayed 4 hours to the WMA. She was going to a club to launch her album and was supposed to be there at 5:30 but got there at 9:30. She also brought her lighting guy. I hope the delays don't affect her performance because now Mariah has to tear it up at the WMA because once the word gets out everyone's gonna scream diva.

World Music Awards (44,173) by SC from USA
Hi guys, I just saw a picture from MC rehearsing at the world music awards and the background show planets and two big disco balls. I don't know this, but that's a fair assumption that she'll probably perform Meteorite, don't you think?? We'll find out tomorrow.

I lol-ed at your power ranger comment. Yes I hear the old Mariah too, espcially in Cry, Dedicated, Supernatural and Heavenly. I guess Mariah can't please everyone no matter what she does.

Me. I Am Mariah (44,171) by Jono from USA
Happy day today, did my little tradition of going to the store and buying a physical copy of the CD. It sounds just as incredible as it did during the first listen, even more so now. As for chart positions, I really don't care how it does at this point. Mariah has nothing left to prove, and she has far outlasted many of her contemporaries. No one has had the career that Mariah has for the last 25 years. The difference between Austin and Mariah is that one is releasing their first album, a generic teen pop genre that has all the teenage girls (and some boys) spazzing out. That act is the new Justin Bieber, and will probably fizzle out in the next couple of years. The other is releasing their fourteenth studio album, and is being lauded by critics as one of her best. It is an art work, something that is timeless (and not just "fifteen minutes of fame") and will last forever. If Mariah debuts at No. 1 at this day and age in a youth-driven market, I will be pleasantly surprised. If she doesn't, I will not be upset - and I'm sure Mariah won't be either. At this stage it is about making good music that will last for generations to come, and not about chart numbers. I am so proud of our girl, and hope she does a killer WMA performance tonight.

Mariah (44,169) by Gilbert from USA
So I went to BestBuy (yes I gave in) and I noticed so much difference from a CD and the Mastered for iTunes version. I don't have to blast my music as loud. Anyway, I ended up getting a iTunes version, Deluxe Version and Standard version which went to my supervisor and the assistant told me that most of the morning that all people have been placing orders for. So that brough a smile to my face and I said that's good, I'm glad to her that her album is selling.

Heavenly (No Ways Tierd/Can't Give Up Now) (44,167) by Billy from England, UK
Listening to this song her vocals near the end of the song sound like she did when she sung Joy To The World (St. John The Divine) live. I love it. I think at the WMA'S she should do a performance of Heavenly and showcase her voice and own that stage.

Lee / Tarraga (44,166) by Anthony Basco from Cardiff, Wales
When you said you can't hear any of the old Mariah and for some that's good but for fans like you it's not, I agree because I can hear a lot of the old Mariah here. A hell of a lot actually. It's the first album I feel where her "old" and "new" personas not only meet but have joined into a super powered Mariah, like the power rangers, strong alone but combined unbeatable haha. I am genuinely not having a go or undermining what you say as I accept that's your opinion, but if I were Mariah reading your posts, I'd bang my head against the wall, like what exactly can she do for you to make you happy? I can't believe how incredible I feel the album is, and I feel a bit sad that you see nothing particularly good in it. Oh well. Tarraga, thanks for the shout out. Yep we have the same favourites haha. And I agree, best opener to an album, ever. Blown away from the very beginning. Listening to the album today, I was overtaken by Heavenly, especially the line "God is closest to the broken-hearted" or something to that effect. Sent shivers down my spine.

iTunes (44,165) by SC from USA
Hi guys, don't you find it interesting that there's not a lot of promo on iTunes? There's a banner there, but it still says pre-order. I don't really understand it. What's going on? I never expected this Mahone guy to be number one. Didn't even see him as competition outside of Coldplay's second week numbers. Should we be concerned? The World Music Awards are great, but they are not as big in the US from a ratings point of view, so outside of the special on Saturday there's nothing else booked which is concerning.

One More Try (44,164) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
Does anyone feel that this song was chosen because she is referring to the "teacher" as the music industry? She made the reference to "if" this was her last album etc. She would not have said that jokingly. So then to listen to where she focusses her emotion in that song, and keeping what has been happening to her it could very well be about that. Also, with the way she pays attention to album sequencing, with Heavenly right after, "coming so far to turn back now" could mean that she really isn't giving up on being on top again. Any thoughts?

Mahone (44,163) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Ugh the guy needs to be taken down. All the teenage girls in USA must be on a download overload from the moment he released the album. I'm happy to see that Mariah's album is atleast still at number 2, and ahead of Coldplay. The other 3 versions of the album are also grabbing chart spots in the top 200, so the total can put Mariah higher. Excited about the WMAs performance. I'm sure the publicity will boost the sales. So Mariah should focus on giving a killer performance. I hope the next single is announced very soon accompanied by a video of TEOM level.

Mariah's current voice (44,162) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Am I the only one who doesn't find the current state of Mariah's voice not that bad as a lot say it is? Yes, she may have lost the fluidity, power, fullness, and vibrance of her voice back in the 90s, but in turn she has gained grit and experience (like Whitney did circa My Love Is Your Love) that, in my opinion, serves her well, as she can now better convey emotions in what she sings, thus making them more believable than they would have sounded if she sang them 20 years ago. I'm not exactly equating the leathery rasp she has adapted with expression, but when she sings now, while it does sound a lot nasal, thinner, and more labored, it also sounds more convincing, thus making even some of her material which are "a bit too young" for her (Ribbon, Obsessed, Up Out My Face) somehow sound more age-appropriate (it works even better for her more lyrically/thematically mature songs). That's not to say she didn't know how to express emotions before, it's just that in the early 90s, she almost seemed like she was always trying to prove herself that she was always so technically impressive that it kind of overpowered the feelings in whatever she sang. Let's face it, Mimi (again, just like Whitney) did oversing a lot earlier in her career. That was the #1 complaint of critics and regular music listeners back then. I feel like Daydream was actually the first album that she learned that less could be more, and from then on, those complaints faded away. Just my two cents, though.

Nasal quality, "accent" (44,161) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Someone has asked about the nasal quality to Mariah's voice lately or that somehow she sounds like she's singing with an accent. I believe it's because Mariah's lung power can't quite sustain long notes now like she used to that she has to compensate by singing with her mouth open a bit narrower (to let less air out) and that in turn affects her enunciation (especially vowels).

Lambs, Mariah is #4 worldwide on iTunes and #2 in the United States. We need to buy as many copies as we can. Share it on your face, promote Mariah so we can knock off Austin Mahone from the #1 spot. And also so gladt o hear that Me. I am Mariah is sold out in Australia. Keep up the good work lambs.

Love MC and always will but not feeling this album (44,155) by Anonymous from
Ok first things first. I adore Mariah and have been an avid fan since the mid 90's. My Mariah collection is huge and I'm very proud of this, as well to be a lamb. I'm very open minded and love various genres of music but ultimately, Mariah is and will always be the, crem de la crem. I heard the album yesterday and I have to say, I'm not in love with it. When I first heard Triumphant I thought, tune - especially when loud, yeah I admit it was a bit more rap then expected but I still loved it (should have dropped Rick Ross as his lyrics were pointless). Then I heard Almost Home and thought, wow Mariah is taking it to the next level, experimenting with new avenues of production (both songs I thought were poorly misrepresented and given the recognition they deserved). Then I heard Beautiful and could not stop playing it on repeat, I was almost certain that the track would be big, even bigger than Obsessed. I believe this album is personal to her but doesn't Mariah say that about every one she's realised in the last 10 years? In a nut shell the album is for the critics and the fans, although I am a fan I don't find this ground breaking or stimulating. I've never been a fan of Mariah's who base their interest on record sales or number 1's, I go with what I feel when I hear a music. I have the right to my opinion especially with the amount of money I've spent over the years on her music and concerts alone. I hope Mariah smashes it and proves me wrong and if she does good on her, I'm just saying how I feel. Will always love Mariah but her music is somewhat confused and conflicted, she squeezes in too many directions in one song. Instead each song should have one direction. Much love people.

Lee (44,154) by May from Denmark
About "throwbacks" I meant that there are things in her songs that sound like a lot of things we heard in previous albums. Not specifically coming from the first self titled album itself or Daydream purely. I think this album has a wide variety but from my point of view (after following Mariah for all her career since day one) there is nothing I can say "wow that's new", that's all I meant. I would put this album next to TEOM, overall great songs, great potential with just some laid down songs. Hope it's clear now.
