Missy Elliot (104,996)

Ugh. What exactly are you on? "Babydoll" is one of Mariah's most hard hitting, most lyrically satisfying, most expressive songs she's ever written especially in the R&B genre. And I dare say, it also is Butterfly's core and backbone. Tf?

Hmmm. Babydoll was a bit of snoozefest to be honest, with Mariah mumbling all the way through and the dated production. I'd rather she ditch the collabs and focus on constructing melodic, captivating songs like she did in the glory days.

Yeah, I don't like this cold weather either. Something seems weird about this January. Trump in the news again, arctic weather conditions, and the last season of Bob Hearts Abishola is just weeks away are making for a bleak January. Remember when L.A.Reid surprisingly sent ILT to radio before the official release date of January 25, 2005. That was a fun start to January 2005. ILT gave me hope for MC's next album. I was there at Spin Street on 01/25/05 buying the CD single. Do you remember that format?

Kardashian vs. Stella (104,994)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Some people just argue to argue (and for attention). If Stella did such a wonderful job with Mariah's career why didn't any other A list celebrity hire her? She had no big celeb client (except for TI for his reality show) before or after. This woman also stole from Mariah, isolated her by surrounding her with only her family members (she's running her business, her cousin is running her accounts, her daughter running social media), got her on a tacky (visibly scripted) reality series (I know most are scripted but not this obvious), had Mariah publicly and in the show, be seen high as a kite and going into pot scores (she may do all these in private but I've never seen her openly talk about it as she wants to maintain a Mary Poppin's image). Later when she was kicked out she accused her of sexual assault. Yet here we are, our supposed only lamb in the world with the big brains thinks Stella was the best thing that happened to Mariah.

Kardashian vs. Stella (104,993)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
| |
|

I'm sorry, if you think the Kardashian are in the same sphere or level as Stella, you're taking too many hallucinations. It's Vogue (Kardashians) vs. National Enquirer (Stella). It's that simple, despite how you saw the Kardashians 10 years ago with their original faces and bodies. Time and opinions have marched on past from how they began. I'm not understanding how people can compare.

I love her radio interviews. I've always felt that she expresses herself even more authentically on radio compared to a tv appearance. Listening to this, I thought it was from the later years but it's actually from late 1993. Worth checking out.

Kris Jenner is managing Kanye West and Travis Scott. She doesn't need to accompany the rappers anywhere. She does their day to day managing on her phone and laptop. She could do wonders for MC's career. Kris Jenner in her mama Kris voice would tell Mariah, "Mimi this is what we should do." "Here's the negative side of that if we do it."

Well at least we know she's going to do the best with what she's got. I saw her say that on a video one time. Here's hoping this year she gives us at least one of the new projects she's mentioned in the recent years. I'm not satisfied with just the cookies. We need new music ASAP.

Will we see a new album this year? (104,984)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

What are your thoughts on if Mariah is actually going to drop an album this year? I read a lot of mixed reactions where some people are convinced she is definitely dropping something while others feel like we won't see anything anytime soon. I know some people are hopeful for Mariah's version of "Someone's Ugly Daughter" or the jazz album she has been mentioning. To be honest I don't care much for either of the above, although if she does release it I'll be happy for the lambs that already wanted it. But personally I would love new more mainstream music from Mariah. She's also been looking absolutely stunning and we know Mariah feels most confident with public appearances and performances when she is feeling her best. So I hope we hear something soon. I would also be interested in The Butterfly Lounge documentary but at this point I think she dropped it. I would love for her to document her next album drop where we see her as a songwriter and what goes behind the scenes of recording an album, the videos etc and release it over on streaming along with the album release.

Once again, Tanaka is being dragged by the lambs? And why? He and Mariah obviously had a good relationship. There is a pattern here whereby Mariah's associates are worshipped until she parts way with them - and then they are fair game to be mocked and ridiculed. Even Walter - without whom her career might undoubtedly not have risen to the level it did - is now persona non grata in the world of the lambs.
In hindsight, 'tis somewhat ironic that Mariah was "interviewed" by the Duchess of Sussex: both are completely incapable of maintaining a good relationship with their families and unable to keep real friends.
I, for one, cannot celebrate that Mariah has broken up with Tanaka because he was sure as shit better for her than Nick "the Sperm Bank" Cannon who is as grotesque a stereotype as can be found.
I hope Mariah has a decent, chart-worthy album ready to drop, with a polished roll-out and videos with significant dollar spent on them. If the label won't cough up the money, she would be wise to consider spending her own money on them. She needs a decent director to make classic videos like Honey, Always Be My Baby, It's Like That, Touch My Body or Obsessed. I say she get in touch with Brett Ratner again whose brief should be "Get Mariah to do more than try to be sexy every second".
And as for her private life, I couldn't care less as long she is loved and lives a long and happy life.

Princes Mariah would suit her. I think a true partner must not be a Hollywood man in general, but a grown-up man who stands with both feet on the ground and isn't lurking for fame and money. No one needs such company. I just hope she finds a true soul who loves her as the human she is and not only the superstar.

I think that falling in love is such an important part of life that it will happen to Mariah whenever she is ready and it will become a priority if the love feels right. I think she can do both things simultaneously like every one of us. I just want her next man to be an A+ Hollywood star, a powerful business man, or someone with royal lineage. PD/A have always wanted to call her Princess Mariah.

Wow, calling someone trash because they see differently than you? Not cool. Anyone who wants to go to law school gets a high five from me. I remember when she met with Trump to work on reform for minor offences and got a lady pardoned from her prison sentence. Am I huge Kardashian follower? Not really. A sex tape release made Kim relevant. What is their talent? So I have my issues but there is no denying Momma Jenner knows how to play the system.

At least she is not friends with Tiffany Haddish. We all know the mess she is in right now. When you have money you have to align yourself with others who will help elevate you to the next level. Maybe MC likes Kim because she has stability and a business like mind. Despite all that Ye has taken her through, she still has provided stability for her kids. I am sure MC has noticed how Kim has held her family together to help her stay grounded for Roc and Roe despite Nick's other children were in the news so much for the past two years. Kim Kardashian is pretty to look at. I think that she has gained lots elegance and sophisication since she has become older.

Robert you're honestly such a sweetheart and we can tell you only hope for the best for Mariah and same for me I really want her to shut everyone up again. Also I completely agree with what you said about single choices. E=MC2 roll out will forever haunt me. She was coming off the high off the most iconic album of the 2000s and had a banger like TMB (with a bomb video) only to then release "Bye Bye" and ISIL? When she had "Migrate" which not only charted with no promo, but was exactly the kind of music that was dominating the radio and clubs in 08, plus had T-Pain and he was huge during that era. Migrate would have been the older sister of "It's like that" - a feel good, this night is mine, I'm feeling myself kind of song. (In today's climate it would sound a bit dated but 08 it would be bomb.) Then "I'll be loving you long time" should have been a summer anthem with proper promo. Next she had "I'm that Chick" and "Side Effects" that could have been singles. I will forever wonder why LA Reid picked the other songs . Don't get me wrong Bye Bye is a good song I listen to it, it gets me emotional because I can relate it to losing my grandmom, but you've got an album full of bangers that are single worthy and you kill the momentum with Bye Bye. Jeez. They tried too hard to recreate the "fun record followed by a big ballad" approach of TEOM, instead they should have made it the year of Mariah where she dominated all seasons - TMB to start bring some heat to the winter months, Migrate to kick of Spring, IBLYLT with the Summer of Mariah takeover and then Side Effects for the fall. And maybe For the Record for Winter again? Maybe even Love Story. After that it's fair game, you want to close with Bye Bye go for it lol.

For a C-list manager who had "no business" managing the "music side" of Mariah's affairs, I would wonder who gets credit for the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour - a tour so popular and well-received it seems on a par with the Daydream Tour. Oh well, must have just fallen into Mariah's lap along with the Vegas residency and the book deal. Nothing to see here.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, Mariah goes to Nobu with a Kardashian and reality-trash-fans are wetting their knickers in glee. It's a funny ole world.

Speaking of Mariah's more polished social media presence, I absolutely love how she's started hopping onto viral trends, like when her songs are going viral and she's hopping on the trend, and also the recent post of "I'm Mariah Carey, of course I ...". The last video could have been a little better and she could have compiled a few diva rumor stuff about her and made fun of it but at least she knows what's trending. Social Media will be huge when she finally releases her new album.
