What an interesting topic. Robert-Anthony loves himself some British accent. He should chime in first.

I do think your ideas are magnificent and your desire to want to see her back on top just reminds us know that you're coming from a place of love. I hope she takes your ideas and I also wish her lots of success.

Maybe I am too much to suggest DeVon Frranklin for MC to date, but you have to admit there have been too many hiccups launching her albums since E=MC2. I just scratched my head everytime the wrong single was chosen or an album promotional plan was poorly executed. I want her back on top for MC16. I know deep down in my heart that MC is going to do MC, but I can't help suggest my plan for getting her back on top of the charts.

Do you think MC will ever date again? I worry about her being alone and not having someone in her life. DeVon Franklin would be the perfect man for MC since she has scaled back being this huge diva. He is a huge motivational speaker and he loves God. During the Christmas shows and in Aspen this December, I saw MC as a more mature woman just raising her children. Her diva persona seems to have fallen off her huge petsonality. Love has to be on her mind, though. She can't stay single forever. I hope that she starts dating again during the recording of MC16. My two cents during the start of several days of below freezing temperatures.

Well, I doubt she is "good" enough so soon to start dating after 7 years being with someone. Work will help her to focus from heartbreak and then, along the way, who knows what can happen and who she will meet. Or not meet. I do have the nerve to wish her best at this time and I think that would be the best for her.

Or, imagine this, she should go back to dating when she's good and ready to and not when y'all think she should. Also, she should date the kind of person she wants to because no one here knows her well enough to say who she should and shouldn't date. Some of you have a lot of nerve to come here and dictate what she should and should not do. She's a human being, not your Barbie doll. She should also do the kind of music she wants to do, she's the artist after all, and feature rappers on every track of her new album if that's what her heart desires. I know my opinions are unpopular on this board so if someone doesn't like them they can scroll right past them like I do some of y'all.

The reintroduction of Mariah Carey (104,944)
by Tevin from USA
| |
|
|
Sounds like an awesome plan. I hope it all comes to fruition. But, not to sound like a Debbie downer, Mariah has definitely got to work on her vocals before promoting anything. Everyone knows how tough promotion can be on vocals. Think of how amazing she sounded at the start of the TEOM promo tour, compared to how she sounded during the actual tour for the album, and that was when he vocals were a lot stronger and more reliable. My thought is for her promo appearances she should do a mix of pre recorded videos (think late night v time mix video), plus semi pre-recorded uptempo song, and a fully live strip back ballad, where she can take her time and sing her heart out.

The reintroduction of Mariah Carey (104,943)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|

I like the way L.A. Reid and Usher are promoting his new album, Coming Home, which is going to be releases on the same day as his Super Bowl LVIII Half-time performance. He is bringing his career back home by working with producers and songwriters he had worked with in the past and some new producers. Maybe MC needs to do something similar that will reintroduce her back to the pop and R&B charts. I say a reintroduction because MC is going need an album promotional plan that is going make MC16 stay on the minds of music lovers. She needs a new team to help her accomplish reintroducing her back to radio and the media. She is going to have to release two iHeart Music radio singles before the album's release with one being a huge ballad. MC16 should not have any rap features since MC is older now. MC will need to some type of huge album release event a week prior to the album's release. Maybe a 5-night performance on The Jimmy Kimmel Show could be a first for MC. No pre-recorded tracks or gimmicks during the performances should heard. There should be just raw soul stirring performances each night similar to her MTV Unplugged performances. Finally, I would like to see the album released on same day as a primetime interview special with Robin Roberts. An interview with Robin Roberts would be what MC needs to ensure MC16 is heard by new music listeners. If she does a traditional album release, MC16 will be dead upon arrival.

For me her voice was so effortless. So strong. So powerful. Maybe that's what Eddie was going for. But yeah, the song by itself is kinda bland. And don't get me started on Michael Bolton. Ugh. He butchers so many good traditional Christmas songs. I just can't with him.

Thanks for posting, great performance and her voice is just gorgeous. I love the debut era voice so much. It never sounded any better.
It's interesting that Michael refers to her as "Mariah" and not "Mariah Carey". I remember MC said in the beginning she wanted to be known as "Mariah", but that they felt it was too similar to Madonna, so she added her surname. I'm speculating, but maybe this was done before she added the "Carey". This was I think one of her first public performances.

Since Tommy the only time I've really seen her really happy and herself in a relationship is with Nick Cannon. All the others I feel that she's been out of control mental health wise. Now she's single I feel she's got herself back stable again and is focused on her art. Maybe she functions better on her own.

Do you think MC will ever date again? I worry about her being alone and not having someone in her life. DeVon Franklin would be the perfect man for MC since she has scaled back being this huge diva. Her diva persona seems to have fallen off her huge petsonality. Love has to be on her mind, though. She can't stay single forever. I hope that she starts dating again during the recording of MC16. True, everyone needs a companion, but I hope she doesn't rush into a relationship just to have company. She needs time to heal. She has been with Tanaka for a very long time so she should take her time to just absorb everything and then see where her love life takes her. My only hope is Nick stays away lol. He has said in the past that he would never say never to reconciling with Mariah. I hope Mariah's next is a well establish person, someone who can match her stardom.

I love their chemistry on this song. I wonder why Columbia chose Patti over MC for the album version. Did Tommy think it was too soon for MC to have an official duet on another male's artist album? Their vocal chemistry may have been too much for him to hear before he could put that ring on her finger.

Women empowerment will always be important and I would love for Mariah to be championing it. I was thinking how in Caution era she could have released "A No No" (and remixes with actual well known female singers/rappers) and it could have been a big moment, also aligning with the #metoo movement. Instead we got Shawni.

Have you seen the video for Yes, And? It reminds me of Pat Benetar's Love Is A Battlefield video. J Lo's Can't Get Enough and Dua Lipa's Houdini videos are similar with a huge dance production and a women empowerment theme. Maybe this is the trend for 2024. I don't think MC has ever a huge dance production video. No, Honey and Heartbreaker don't count.
