I think I heard this some time ago.

Stiffness (104,186) by Edward from USA
Mariah mounts herself on heels so high not even the most experienced Drag Queen could walk on them. Not implying Sam Smith is a Drag Queen, just in case one of the over sensitive alphabet people might want to start a cat fight, but he seems to to be very careful when walking on those platforms he mounts himself on.

Another thing, after her accident while filming the video for "#Beautiful", she's definitely being more careful.

What a beautiful song. The lyrics and the beats sounds timeless. And I love her hair in the video.

Mariah have been stiff in the last 15 years. If anything, she's moving a bit more now. I don't think its the lipo or any procedure. For me, this really started during the release of E=MC2, and my suspicion is right after her miscarriage which would be around the release of Bye Bye.

She was pretty active in the Touch My Body video. When was the last time you've seen her move like that? So that is why I attribute it to her miscarriage. And I don't even think it's physical. It's more like mental or psychological or something. But hey, I am not a doctor.

Because that is also the moment when she adapted this Paris Hilton/Mean Girls image: super high heels she can barely walk on, super tight skirts ripe for slips that looks uncomfortable to move in. There's a sudden change in how she carried herself in that moment, and it didn't go away, she became a mother and so forth. I would believe medications before I believe lipo, and I hope I'm wrong because I actually prefer the latter.

I agree on the subject of her awkward stiffness, I just can't figure out what seems to be wrong.

Besides that, what I take from the concerts is that her voice is back to a level where it's actually pleasant to listen to her sing again, that makes me happy.

Lol. I thought I was in the Why You Mad club all by myself. Future should have been on the remix to close it out. He could have rapped a bar about Ciara. I hate that I missed a chance to purchase a fan made 45 vinyl of the remix.

That could explain why she was so quiet on social media after the Lovers and Friends concert. Also, the picture in August with Roc and Roe showed her looking different like she was recovering from something.

Your ears have aged a tad bit now haven't they? The clip I posted, I clearly acknowledged Mariah is having some form of vocal issues, that covers the fact I know she prerecorded some parts. I just didn't want to dwell on that, unlike your toxic self that thrives in such as we can see from this post. What I was pointing out were the non Christmas songs medley she pulled out and sang live and still killed it voice problems and all. Try and be a better person. Smh. Like every other obstacle Mariah's faced and overcame which we have been witness to, this voice issue too will be a thing of the past very soon and she will blow once more like we know she can.

Maybe the extreme stiffness is due to a recent lipposuction and a recent face lift? I don't know. Maybe she's recovering from recent surgeries. Because even though since 2010 her stage performances became very low energy in terms of movements and dancing, she was never this stiff. Though I'm enjoying some iconic moments from these Christmas shows, I share your thoughts about her recent awkward stiffness and lack of face expresion. I also feel good about her success with these shows, from the videos I've seen, people are enjoying them a lot and she's singing in front of big audiences again.

Performance (104,176) by Tameka walker from United states
Everyone is entitled to their opinions about Mariah. I am a huge fan of hers she literally teached the whole generation how to sing, Beyoncé had said she tried to do runs like Mariah and so forth and Christina tries to imitate every little note and all give Mariah her props, she taught Christina, Beyoncé, Rihanna, and the rest of the girls how to sing, Mariah have been singing for over 30 years so what if her voice is not what it used to be to me, she can still sing her face off. Well anyway you guys got to remember she had a hit every year of the 90's then she would go back and do a remix with a rapper and sometimes without all that singing all over is bound to hurt your voice in some capacity. She made amazing remixes with and without rappers. Then in the 2000's Mariah did it again with songs from the Emancipation of Mimi era. We have to be grateful that Mariah is here with us because Michael Jackson, Prince, Barry [White], Whitney Houston and so on [are] gone and the way I see some people rag on Mariah they did the same thing to them. They are dead now and every time I turn around they get induction into the [Hall of Fame] or get other awards and so forth. Let's appreciate Mariah while she is still here here with us I am grateful that we still have her, let's show her love now and not when she is not here anymore.

Mariah in Denver at the Ball Arena (104,173) by Michael from United States
After 20+ years of waiting, I finally got to see Mariah in Denver. With my whole heart I'm telling you it was live. She sound amazing. Whatever she has been doing to strengthen and get her voice back has been working. Her voice was strong, and clear. Her agility, and tone is back. She was funny, engaging and looked like she was having a blast. I'm so very proud of her. The arena was sold out, and the crowd was hot. It was surreal. She is so stunning in person. Looks much younger than her true age. I had the time of my life. I also made friends with other Lambs. I'm eternally grateful for being able to put a check mark next to this bucket list item. I'm also very thankful to my partner with surprising me with this early Christmas present.

There are three people who need to be fired as soon as possible: the person who put those absurdly large breasts into Mariah Carey, the person who put Mariah Carey into that hideously inappropriate black dress and the person who put Mariah Carey in that cringeworthy show.

I know, I know, I'm a miserable git. I'll take a turkey round to Tiny Tim's on Christmas Day and make sure the little fella lives.

God bless us, every one.

All You Want For Christmas Is Me (104,171) by Andrew from the UK
I listened to Merry Christmas for the first-ish time today, sang, danced, and sat to listen when I knew great vocal parts were coming up.

Then on YouTube I watched Mariah talking about its lead single. And then other people talking about its lead single. And then even more of Mariah talking about its lead single. Interspersed with yet more other-people talking about its lead single.

The song is great. It’s one of the greatest pop music creations of all time. And it came out of Mariah’s head. I get it. I love it. I love her for it. The whole world loves her for it.

But can’t it be left to just be a song one year, and not a statistic to celebrate or an interview topic? Or better still: release a *new* Christmas song and talk about that. And how great it was to record it with Taylor Swift.

It isn't the lip-syncing that bothers me about the Billboard performance or the Christmas shows. You would have to be delusional with a capital Terna not to have expected there to be lipsync. And, having a PhD in Mariah Carey Lip-Sync, I was quite impressed as I had to replay certain parts to really understand if they were lip-sync or not. (They were.) But the songs sound okay from what I have watched and if people are having a ball in the auditoria then good for them.

What's truly puzzling at best (and truly worrisome at worst) is Mariah's rigidity. She rarely moves. More's the point: she rarely moves to an almost inhuman degree. It was even so on the Jennifer Hudson show. I neither see nor know of *any* artist who is so frozen in expression and in movement. I don't even know of any *person* in real life who behaves so. Does anyone? It's really weird, you guys. Something is not right, here. In fact, I would go so far as to say: something is very wrong here.

One of the things I loved that Mariah lost was her command of the stage and ability to entertain. She would run up and down the bloody thing, punch the invisible ghosts, slap them in the face many times when going for big notes, activate the garage doors by pressing the secret button in her ear, spin around, laugh, dance, point to people and tell them she sees them up there in the cheap seats, get excited when she can read some of the signs (do people still do signs?) and so on. Where did this go? And why?

I don't think anyone is asking for 90s vocals. But I think they're sure as shit asking for 90s performances. And quite rightly so. They were bloody good fun.

"Oh no you ruined everything by deciding to not go. Do any of you have lives outside of this messageboard?"

Luke? Luke needs to get a life? Luke, who lives in the UK, is flying to New York City for his job and, whilst there, has the option of seeing a Mariah Carey concert? That Luke? Hah Luke, you really need to get a life, mate. Your current one clearly sucks.

"To come on here just to announce you aren't going? Nobody cares or asked."

I care. Especially now Big Nasty and I are over. And, if memory serves: didn't Bobby-A and others ask to be updated? Alas, if you could only see that Luke was not put here for you to judge him and dispute his inner most truth.

Never sung in her life (104,168) by Andrew from the UK
I knew I liked you. So let's do it.

"And, no, asking a singer to sing isn't a big ask, but expecting 1995 or 2000s vocals isn't going to happen no matter the critique."

Please do point to the recent post that requests such vocals be produced. I'll be first in line to berate the poster for making such a silly request. Don't hold back on me now because I am lovin' me some Nasty Norman - but I, too, despise gaslighting, or as I like to label it: "flat denial of observable reality". So point to the posts and we can get past the foreplay and have ourselves a moment.

"It's okay to only like her 90s stuff and nothing past that. Admit it and move on - you'll all be happier. But no need to constantly bash every effing move and call it constructive when all it is, is tearing things down."

Well, Big Nasty, I'm struggling to letcha get to second base with this one so let's unpack it while we get cosy by the fire. I can't remember - nay, imagine - any of the guys, girls or Terna-based species that visit this website ever saying that they only like Mariah Carey's 90s music. It would be an absurdity. They would be, ripped, shredded, slapped... wait. I'm gonna stop that right there because I know I got Bobby A excited and this is a date for two. So pop in the relevant posts where people have stated the absurd 90s things, then pop open the Cristal so we can round third base in a bubble bath.

"Now, joy to the effing world or whatever. We mostly love everyone."

Big Nasty, how bloody dare you? I'm lying here, bubbles in one hand, some other kinda bubbles protecting my itty bitty dignity, waiting for you to dive in and hit a home run... and you love "mostly everyone"? Nuh uh. I'm a one guy kinda girl. Close the door, lose the key, leave the posts on the mat for me. Show is over.

[How pissed is everyone right now for having that song put it into their brains? Serves you right for reading my private love letter to Big Nasty.]

Yes she has newly recorded vocals for some of the songs she was singing live previously including [Joy to the world] and [All I want for Christmas] intros. Now that a handful of shows are done you can see they're identically phrased and sung. Funny thing is that whenever she is actually singing live she sounds pretty good so I don't know why she needed to but what are you gonna do? It is what it is. People are really enjoying her shows and can't really tell or don't really care. I feel it's akin to people believing in Santa Claus. It makes people happy - let them. Why must we keep pointing things out and ruining it for the ones who enjoy it?

I don´t understand (104,165) by Zachariah from Croatia
But isn't she doing very well with live performances now? From what I can hear from her Christmas tour, vocals are on point. More than that. And yes, I am one of those who will say "yass queen" because it is exactly that, yass. Queen. Being 33 years in the industry and her career behind her - there is literally nothing from her to bring us down. Only positivity and music to focus on forward. I am blessed that I enjoy and 90's and Mariah after 2001. Even more after 2001. I am proud to be her fan. And always will be.

Never sung in her life (104,164) by Norman from USA
I believe his point is that you guys regurtitate the same complaints every other week and think you're going to change something. It's been how long since Daydream? And you all swear you're the only ones who like her because you tear her to shreds.

And, no, asking a singer to sing isn't a big ask, but expecting 1995 or 2000s vocals isn't going to happen no matter the critique.

Being at the Hollywood Bowl nights was such a great experience as a fan because it packed with people who were there to have fun and enjoy the show. And enjoy it we did. It was a blast to interact with people who had never seen in concert and enjoyed what was offered and how it was it offered. The energy when she did a medly of part of her catalog was at fever pitch. It was heartening. And as people left, you could hear everyone discussing her voice and how well she did and wishing more of this from her.

Having a discussion about the status of her current voice is one thing, and she's not above reproach, but enough with same critical drag and calling it love. No need to gaslight. We've read them for years and know abusive language when we read it.

It's okay to only like her 90s stuff and nothing past that. Admit it and move on - you'll all be happier. But no need to constantly bash every effing move and call it constructive when all it is, is tearing things down.

Oh, and before anyone comes out with pejorative "yass queen" rebuttal, no one is asking for you to be that. No one. You can have fun on the board without punching down. It's reductive.

Now, joy to the effing world or whatever. We mostly love everyone.
