Re: Why the ugly clothes? (99,302) (99,307) by RibbonB from USA
Not the buffalo plaid dress. She dies make interesting choices. The casual, ski wear should be easy. Even in her more voluptuous shape, she should still be able to look great.

Re: Never Forget You (99,304) (99,306) by T from USA
It's not that. Nobody wants her to go backward they just want to hear those classical melodies that her and Walter managed to pull out of each other. Walter mostly works with artists over fifty. Well news flash - that's Mariah. And not in a dismissive way but in a she's the boss way. She's made it to a point where people will relish in those classic MC sounds.

Good/bad news (99,305) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
So as you can see I'm from a tiny island in the Caribbean of 1.4 million total population. So our market does not make a dent or impact in the grand scheme of anything. I'm saying this to say the radio stations (yes plural) have FILAC on repeat. I just can't understand it. I have not even heard All I Want.... for the season. That's the good news, the bad news is the more I hear it the more it sounds ok.

Re: Never Forget You (99,300) (99,304) by Steve from USA
I don't know about all that. A straightforward ballad or two would be ok, though we aren't going to get that from Mariah. As a lamb and fan since '90, I have zero desire to see her go back and work with Walter again. The general public doesn't want her to work with him again, because they have no idea who Walter A is or that she ever stopped working with him. This persistence by some fans to see her go back and work with Walter again is really dismissive of her talent as a songwriter. She can, and has, worked with many other people and created beautiful ballads. She has no need for a Michael Bolton collaborator from the early 90s.

Straight forward singing (99,303) by T from USA
I know Mariah loves the sound of Fall In Love At Christmas with all the different voices and sounds but I also have this belief from talking to a lot of people that if she just had some straight forward singing songs, just her voice in just one octave, she would resonate with the audience again. Some may say that was Caution, and I say yes. Caution was a step in the right direction.

Hahaha the jiffy pop jacket is a Lanvin dahlin'. Mariah is probably inspired by the Kim K's puffy jacket vibes. I don't mind the jacket but that jacket with that Prada bucket hat was a mess through and through. But I'll take that over her table cloth gown days any day haha.

Does that explain the ugly though? Who made the jiffy pop jacket though? Why did she decide to wear it?

Never Forget You (99,300) by Robert-Anthony from United States
I was thinking about the Babyface sound today and Never Forget You came to my mind. I am just wondering could MC sing it in the same key today. She recorded it in her head voice. I think that she could do it with proper rest. Lambs, oh how I wish MC would return back to these straight forward songs with every song on MC16. She would be surprised how radio and the buying public would respond to her again. The buying public and radio really hate it when they hear her whistle notes and excessive belting in every song. They want to hear a Walter A. collaboration just like the rest of us. I often wonder how a MC/Walter collaboration would sound today. Their compositions were so recognizable back in the 90s. Just me thinking again the day after Christmas. Lol.

When she looks offside, she's usually looking at herself, in the monitor. A while back she made a visible effort not to do it, and was demonstrating active listening and focus, but we've slipped back into Mariah land.

Re: Why the ugly clothes? (99,290) (99,298) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
First of all ultra luxe glam mixed with the occasional bad fashion choice is Mariah's brand haha. But for the new series of photos and also for some recent outfits in general I think she's working behind the scenes with some major fashion brands, most notably Dolce & Gabbana (the bronze dress from the Apple special, the new photos in the snow, McDonald's commercial, Jimmy Fallon orange dress and many more) and also Balmain (the black and white snow suit). A lot of these pieces are custom made for her too. This is also (if I'm not mistaken) the first time (at least in a while) I've seen these major fashion brands (both D&G and Balmain) repost her photos on their official pages/instagrams. So I'm happy she's finally getting exposure in the fashion world as I've always wanted her to be the face of a major fashion brand. Her recent "partnership" with D&G also led her to do the "Vogue Life in Looks" segment, and her Harper Bazaar's spread/video. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her to do the iconic 73 Questions for Vogue and finally announcing her as the ambassador of a brand.

No, I only have whatever was put out on her official DVDs, and any gaps I downloaded from iTunes if they had them. They do have most of them which is good.

Article: Merry Christmas from Hollywood (99,295) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Voila the new pics are really sweet. Love the pyjama Christmas pics. Mariah with the dress in the snow is beautiful as well. It looks like "old Hollywood" classy with divastyle. Thumbs up.

Totally agree, that look was everything. First Lady of music, love that title. Very true. She looked like a supermodel, princess and a superstar with charism that outshined every other woman. Just like a sweet, sweet fantasy.

Re: Why the ugly clothes? (99,290) (99,293) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yes, she doesn't need to show. The whole world knows she's ultimate rich. If she wears classy clothes, or casual, she looks phenomenal and the best. I love all the "regular girl" outfits and of course the classy ones. The red snowsuit on "AIWFCIY" is so sweet and beautiful on her. The "trendy, expensive clothes aren't flattering at all". These are often for nouveau riche. Mariah is a natural beauty, she should know less is more. Merry Christmas everyone.

Yeh it comes off as tacky. Her best look was 1996 Daydream era when she had the straight yet wavy hair, the headbands, and classy outfits. Sort of decked out in First Lady attire. I guess she was the First Lady of Sony Music back then, being married to the President and all that.

More than just Fantasy my good friend. Always Be My Baby and the remix, she co-directed Butterfly, Breakdown and The Roof (one of her best videos), and also directed the secret Soul Convention AYNAF video, and I think she did the Pure Imagination remix of I Still Believe as well.

Why the ugly clothes? (99,290) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Why does Mariah dress like she really just want to show off how much money she has got. Especially the outfit when she is out on a stroll with Bryan, she looks like some people here in Oslo in Norway, rich, but with poor taste, mixes and matches the most awful expensive clothes.

Re: Best video director (99,287) (99,288) by Bill from the UK
You forgot to add Mariah to your list.

Shake It Off and Get Your Number was a double A side in the UK, so yes I imagine the videos were filmed at the same time for the release of the single, bit am not 100% sure.

From your list my favourite would be Diane Martel, but I loved a lot of what Larry Jordan did. He did some of her earlier videos like Someday and I Don't Wanna Cry, plus her live concert videos. Hero and Without You are so iconic to me. Hero for the timelessness and Without You because it was so big in the UK.

I also love Make It Happen which was directed by Marcus Nispel. He's done countless videos (for others) and so many of his I love. I think all her videos from Emotions were perfect.

Best video director (99,287) by Robert-Anthony from United States
Which director has created the best videos for MC?
1. Diane Martel
2. Joseph Kahn
3. Brett Ratner
4. Jake Nava
5. Paul Hunter
6. Sanaa Hamri
Which one is your favorite? I am on a search today on eBay to find all of MC's videos on DVD. My favorite director is Jake Nava. I love Shake It Off and Get Your Number. I think they were filmed at the same time to go with the simultaneous release of Shake It Off (U.S.) and Get Your Number (U.K.). Am I right Bill?

Article: Mariah and Bryan bundle up for romantic stroll (99,286) by RibbonB from USA
This outfit is worse than the other plaid one. This jiffy pop jacket is awful. Platform clunkers do not make her legs trim and slim.

Re: Sides: right vs. left (99,270) (99,283) by TJ from Norway
It might be that she had brought it up in almost every interview. Back in the days I was watching every interview she made, but at one point I realised that she wouldn't bring anything new to the table. It's all about the image, angle, look, sexy, sexy, sexy, tight short dresses, high heels, diva behaviour, being eternal 12 and so on. All my friends think she's insane, and she doesn't do much to stop it. Love her music 1990-1997 plus Glitter and TEOM, and can't stand rest of the circus. Merry Christmas.
