No creativity (41,361) by Lyric from USA Well I'm glad most of us can agree on the fact that Mariah could benefit from a creative director of some sort, someone to pass over some new innovative ideas. Her look, videos, song themes and style have been the same for at least ten years. Now I'm really yearning for the WBT video. It had a great storyline and it wasn't vanity shots and glitter. Mariah might be the type that doesn't like change but if people are getting bored, she needs to try some new ideas. If you look at some less talented artists in the business, they are always changing something, whether its their hair or their fashions. Now if they had some of Mariah's talent, and she had some of their visual ideas, I'd be extremely pleased. These vanity videos just aren't pleasant. (Saturday 15 February 2014; 21:13)

You're Mine (Eternal) (41,360) by Stacey from USA First post since Eric introduced the up/down feature. Now I'll really get to see what you all think of me, lol. I've been busy with three kids and sick with a cold. How's that for a Valentine's present? Anyway, I like the song. I even like the RnB remix. Almost sounds better as a duet. But, I like both versions. The stacato verse reminds me of Your Girl and Heartbreaker choruses. I like how she goes back and forth between soft and full vocals. It's where she's at her best rather than whispering all the time or belting for that matter. A mix of her amazing voice is what works, IMO. The video? I just laughed at the part where she moves her arm to cover up the "girls" better. I'll leave it at that. I'll say that having all the material ready to go when the single is released is a nice change. I'm glad to see her working with other singers rather than having a rapper guest star on a remix. I also thought with the title, You're Mine, it was going to be some mushy love song. To see it be a song about lost love, wanting that person back ala WBT was nice. The remixes are nice, but why is she only singing the final chorus all throughout the remix? I wished she would have resung the verses and included them too. All and all, this is a great start. Licia (41,359) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Yes, you were right about the second day interviews. It was way better and professional yet funny. That's the real Mariah we all know and love. So when people tried to say that the "rambling Mariah moment" was her usual routine, it's not the truth, this is why I referred back to 2005-2009 era when her interviews were funny, witty and professional. I am glad she took note and fixed herself up for the next round of interviews. I just get frustrated because I don't know about her, but I desperately want her to be back at #1, I hate how talentless people are mass producing what seems to be like the same song with different lyrics (yes I know they are not the same, dahlin') while people like Mariah who actually make real music are given the backseat. Letting go (41,356) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia Okay so we get it already everybody's appalled and disappointed in Mariah now. Talk about overkill bashing. How many of you never indulged in a drink and behaved differently before? How many of you never made comments about people you don't care for too much? How many of you are human? I'm sure more than half of you that are complaining the hardest are the main ones that act worse than Mariah when you had a drink of sometime or just in general. It's been three freaking days people, please find another hobby and stop acting like Mariah's killed somebody, has been involved in 5 hit and run car accidents, and left them babies in the car by themselves for three hours while she went to the liquor store. None of this is that serious. I am amazed at how so many people (who I never see posting on an ordinary day), come out of the woodworks with their pitchforks only to crucify Mariah when she does something they don't like. It's clear that some of you were once fans that completely turned against her and now you only have negative vent-ful things to express about her. (I know I've checked some of you all's message history and some of you have only posted negative things on this messageboard not even one positive message you know who you are), it's a thin line between love and hate. I can respect an honest critique, and I'm not saying you shouldn't express disappointment sometimes. But when it gets to a point that all you ever do is complain and can't even post one positive thing about Mariah on her "fan site" then you need to just realize you're not a fan anymore and let go. I love Mariah for better or worse, it's an unconditional love and though I agreed with somethings posted, it's unnecessary to go on this tangent for this long. Second day interviews (41,355) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Mariah seems to have gotten back to form for the interviews after that day, I just got to watch them today and she not only looks gorgeous (and dressed properly), she didn't stray away off topic and gave informative answers. All her interviews need to be like these. Like the BET 106 & Park moment, she was her usual funny self but she talked about the song as much as she could in that time frame. That's the MC we all want. It brought a smile to my face instead of a cringe. (Saturday 15 February 2014; 17:02)

Interviews (41,353) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter For people who claim Mariah is sick of answering the same questions, here are two points. Number 1. A celebrity of Mariah's level has the ability to instruct the interviewer (through her agent) about exactly what questions they can ask her and what they can't. If she can demand that her own camera angle expert will be standing next to the show's camera man to make sure that they don't film her from the wrong angle, you can be more than sure she has control over what questions she will be asked, so she definitely doesn't mind the questions. Number 2. These often asked questions are things that needs to be asked again and again because not everyone knows about her past/present. Suppose a non lamb tunes into a random show and M is there, he/she would need a little introduction, that's how new people become fan and/or get information. So every interviewer kinda has to ask these because suppose she answered something in Radio A, it's not necessary that everyone on the planet listened to it, so she has to say it in Radio B as well to get her message across to people. I watch Ellen, I don't watch Oprah, so if Oprah asked something which M answered I would not know it, as I don't watch the show. Simple as that. It's M's work, her job, she makes a living from it. A few thoughts (41,351) by Jay from USA I totally agree with Alex from England. I don't know how people don't realize this. Even though she says she doesn't have "yes people" around her, she may not realize it. And I don't think IDJ supports her the way she would like them to. And I love the remixes. Opinion of You're Mine from a non-lamb (41,350) by Eternal from Italy So today I asked my other half his opinion of Mariah's latest single when we heard it on the radio. It came on so suddenly while we were in the car, and he wondered if it was an old song of hers. He's usually quite critical of Mariah's latest efforts, but surprisingly, he liked You're Mine and thought that the music was simple but very listenable and even reminiscent of some of her best works in the past. That last whistle note reminded everyone why Mariah is Mariah, and the only negative thing he noted was the number of vocal effects like echo and reverb applied to her voice in certain parts. But he also noticed that the verses were simply arranged, and how she was singing almost in acapella sometimes. That made me think about the lambs' current debate over this single. Could we be too harsh on Mariah because we've listened to so many of her songs, and our expectations are unusually high? To a normal non-Mariah fan, they have nothing but good things to say about YM. The sound and vocals are typically Mariah, and it's so catchy and romantic, perfect for V-Day. I'm even loving the song more with each listen. (Saturday 15 February 2014; 15:07)

Another theory (41,349) by Darryle from USA Another theory on why Mariah has been acting diva like is that she's going through menopause. Yeah I know it's an incredibly long shot but maybe. If she is the menopause could make be making her have mood swings or want to drink more. I've seen it it happens it will do things to you. Her interviews (41,348) by James (Twiggy) from United Kingdom Some people need to give it a break. Mariah is hilarious. She's an entertainer and that's exactly what she's doing. Take it with a pinch of salt, I'm pretty sure she is. I'd rather sit and watch her interviews than the bog standard interviews you get from most celebrities. Hers are off the collar and unexpected. Which is great. She's been in the business for almost 25 years now and done countless interviews. She's probably so bored of answering the same questions over and over. How music changed her life, what's her opinion on this celebrity and this trend, Who is the real Mariah etc etc. We all know these answers. She's just changing it up a bit. I appreciate it. Diva interviews (41,347) by Darryle from USA So this is what I hope to be my last comment about Mariah's diva attitude during her interviews. I think during all the promo interviews on the first day Mariah was acting like a diva because it was the first day. It had been almost a full year since Mariah had released an actual single and she just wanted to let loose and have fun. So she treated the first day interviews like a welcome back party, welcoming herself back into music. If you look at the interviews she's done the after the first day they are more more serious and she's much more down to earth. Just my opinion. (Saturday 15 February 2014; 13:58)

A quote for Mariah (41,344) by Paul from Usa "Too much ego will kill your talent." I love Mariah, but I'm honestly getting annoyed and sickened by her diva-ish, all attention on me attitude. Last I checked she wasn't born into the royal family, so why does she strut around like she's a queen?Look I've been a fan since 1993. I was at one point a super obsessed fan, and I thought everything she did was perfect. But these last few years I've lost a ton of respect for her. I don't believe she's passionate about music and her career. I don't think she has a open mind when it comes to exploring other avenues. I see her tarnishing her reputation by these awkward, all over the place interviews, numerous bad performances (lip syncing, bad voice, wardrobe malfunctions). What does she give back to society anymore? She has the means to help others, give to charity, to take a stand against things she believes in. Equality for gays (huge fan base) poverty (she's been there), woman's rights. I think what bothers me most as of lately is how she's copped out and performed for another dictator after she got backlash the first time. I'm so tired of it being all about this provocative, sexual image, I'm so tired of hearing how she insists on having 12 dozen white roses, 5 white kittens etc in her hotel room. That the lighting and temperature have to be a certain degree, and she's must have sparking water in her toilet before she'll take a squat. I'm absolutely repulsed by it anymore. Please don't attack. YME airplay, elegance and MC demeanor (41,342) by Brad from USA Hi Lambs. Hope you all are well. After listening to YME quite a bit, I've grown to really enjoy it. I was wondering if anyone here is actually hearing the song on their local radio stations. I live in Connecticut, USA and have not heard it on the radio. It occurs to me that the song, while catchy in some ways, is rather elegant and nuanced; perhaps in a way that radio won't embrace. Maybe that's why the remix and dance tracks have been released so soon. As for Mariah's demeanor, I'm bemused at times. The way she often comes across and portrays herself seems incongruous with her roles as a mother, wife, woman of faith and gold-hearted, diva next door. It potentially has a greater impact on her legacy than her ability to have a hit 25 years out. I do hope she appreciates that on some level. Lets hope for the best during this new era. Be well. Mariah's insecurities (41,340) by Alex from England Yes Mariah has always been insecure since she was a child, she has said it many times. She is a very sensitive reflective woman (her lyrics throughout her carreer shows that, Close My Eyes, Languishing, Looking In, Outside, I Wish You Well etc etc). She thought she wasn't pretty growing up because of how people considered her as a biracial person. Starting in the business at age 18 she was told her left profile looked terrible compared to the other side. Now after reaching 40 she's had to fight off the bias that women older than 40 are no longer relevant or interesting. Can you imagine living all your life with people having a say on who you are, from a child who was bullied (that always stays with you) to a globally famous singer (where everyone has something to say about the way you look, speak, do your hair, which dress you wear)? I do agree with the poster who said she hides her insecurities behind that diva act. I think she gradually stepped up the act as she started growing older. That being said, Mariah is still the same person, she will have those interview moments where she just talks about something and is just serious and focused. Yes sure, not lately, but it's not like someone changes at 43 from one month to the next. Mariah is still trying "to let go" as she beautifully sang. Yes sometimes she does come across as a bit pretentious but I think it may be annoying for her to see all those talentless "singers" on top when she actually loves music with all her being. These videos were super sexy yet classy and with great storylines. So where are they? I want Mariah to blow everyone's mind with her new album and videos. Someone needs to get me her number. The diva attitutude overload (41,338) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Some people are writing that M's recent behavior is playful and/or it's her breaking free of Sony forcing her to appear "more white", that's ridiculous. Mariah has always been classy (even after Sony), Sony just made wear more clothes. But look at her interviews from TEOM, E=MC2, even Memoirs era, these were well past Sony and she was funny, witty, professional and classy all at the same time. Like suppose her interviews with Ellen (where she seems most relaxed) during these eras, she had her diva attitude but it was toned down and it was actually funny and she kept things classy, joking but at the same time being professional. In the Alan Carr show, she was super poised, even though he kept joking (which is hist style so fine). She even directed him away from some inappropriate jokes nicely. MC never needed an Oprah interview to appear sincere. Neither did she need to sound robotic and not be playful during interviews (after Sony). She had a perfect balance of professionalism and humor (being funny but giving straight and informative answers about her work) well up to Memoirs, so please don't justify her recent behavior saying she has always been like this, go check out her interviews from the eras I mentioned. Someone also wrote MC knows work is a joke, that's crazy, if she thought that, she wouldn't be trying so hard to start off her album with a #1 hit and delaying the album each time a single didn't perform up to her standards. Remix video (41,337) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter No, no, no. This remix video isn't working for me. One video of Mariah cradling her chest is more than enough, now we have two of the exact same videos with just a few more cut scenes of her underwater, and Trey singing, it doesn't change anything at all. What happened to the video that was playing behind her when she was performing at the BET awards? It looked classy and nice where she was dancing or had her hands around a man's neck and she was wearing white gloves and then there were shots of her on a black piano wearing all black. It was the same ensemble she had on in the pictures with Trey and JD. I will also just add again, why didn't Mariah just cover her chest with a shell bikini or glitter bikini or just wear a nude body suit with strategically placed glitters/stones to cover her modesty?
