Necklace (39,697) by B from USA
The necklace also had a ring on it. The ring was a gift from an ex-boyfriend. Maybe Ben.

The necklace also had a ring on it. It was a gift from Alison. I read that years ago.

Proud lamb (39,695) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
Well I'm a proud lamb, I'll take that title with honor. A lamb is just a dedicated fan, that has stuck with Mariah through thick and thin (literally and figuratively ). So if you're just a casual fan then boo. Lol. No that's fine, but nothing's wrong with being a lamb, it's just a term of endearment given to us by the king herself, nothing to be irritated by at all.

Lambs (39,694) by David from Australia
You don't need to be a "lamb" to be a fan. That's just what Mariah calls her fans. Heaps of other artists have names as well. I don't call myself a lamb either, just a Mariah Carey fan, but there are other people who like being called lambs. That's their choice. Each to their own. You certainly don't need to be called a lamb if you don't want to.

Lambs (39,693) by Johnny from Ireland
Guys, it annoys me to think that you need to be a lamb to be considered a fan. I'm not a lamb but certainly a fan. I cannot wait for Mariah to get back in business and I agree that we need to see her work the promotion circuit. Best of luck MC.

Mariah's heart necklace (39,692) by Tory from Australia
Does anyone know the story behind it? If you notice up until she married Tommy (to my knowledge) she wore a heart necklace nearly everytime she performed and it kind of became a signature in a way, similar to Whitney's cross earring she wore on one ear during the early 90s as well.

Jaker20, letting go (39,688) by RadChad from United States
Mariah's creativity is not nor has ever been the issue whatsoever. Creativity is what always set her apart from Whitney and Celine. Her discography speaks for itself. Also Mariah has never really called herself "The Voice". Her peers (the record label) and fans projected that title on her. IMO she accepted the limitation of her voice (since Butterfly), but it was the fans and her label that wanted the mid to early 90s vocals. As we know when she gave us 90s esque vocals on TEOM the results were astounding. So at this point with everyone in her ear and seeing how singing in the 90s style voice spoke volumes, of course she's gonna go in that studio and give all she got. Otherwise she would whisper a whole album if everyone was okay with that. Oh and btw the whistle register has always been the most effortless part of her voice from my observation. As for the way she dresses, we just have to accept that MC will be that 80 year old woman in some red heels and a bikini. She's gonna be a hot momma as long as she can get away with it.

Mariah has let go, Jaker (39,687) by Matthew from USA
Jaker20, I think Mariah has moved on. She has learned to let go. If she sings some of her older material at a concert, it's because the fans want to hear it, not because she is not willing to let go. She has stated multiple times that she is kind of tired of singing Hero and such, but how can she not? If she is giving a mini concert, there's definitely going to be a couple of throwbacks in there. So your argument that Mariah is the one that won't let go because she keeps singing her older hits makes no sense. By that logic, every artist who has been around for over 5 years is also living in the past. MC has shown time and again that she is willing to move on and experiment with her sound. If anything, it's some of the lambs that seem to want her to go back to her early 90's sound, which would put her squarely in Adult Contemporary genre today. And you can see how well that's working out for Celine. My point is that the lambs need to enjoy the classics, but also look forward to new and exciting things. The stuff she did with Walter was great, but let's not hammer her with questions about him. Here's to new sounds. The live orchestra and jazzy snippet we got was pip.

jaker20 (39,686) by B from USA
Mariah hardly raises her voice above a whisper and yet you claim she still over sings? She saves the big note for a big dramatic finish. And she is still able to, so why shouldnt she while she still can?

I know I sound a bit sour (39,685) by jaker20 from US
But I seriously can't wait what she will do with the new album. When someone says they're letting go, I rather see it as a beginning of something new rather than an ending. So I'm really anticipating MC's take on those words. Is she just extending the same old pattern she's been stuck with the past few years, or a beginning of a new career? Judging by the overtly sexy cover art I think she's still struggling with the meaning of her own words. But you know, if the song is hot it's hot. I won't argue. I'm definitely there to buy like every song and album she released. But I'm gonna call it like it is.

MC should let go... (39,684) by jaker20 from US
Of her trying to oversing every song. This is the most difficult thing to accept that the voice is not the same, and if she doesn't the fans will never accept it either. You ask, why are fans stuck in the past, constantly reminiscing her glory days? Over and over. Because MC is doing the same. She can't move on. Why does every song have to have a whistle, sing on the high note near the end. It's tired and resembles every song she made, only less impressive than what she use to be. The only way MC can move forward and avoid comparison to her past self is to not be that person, that "voice", because those days are over. And the only way to do that is to embrace her artistic side. With all her success, fame and fortune, it's the time to be creative and take risks. I've said it many times, MC is an artist, not only the voice. The voice isn't what it use to be, but the artist is still there. The songwriter, the performer, the artist. She should cultivate what is remaining, rather than pretend she can still hit it. This is a very difficult transition that longtime fans will probably never accept. But she should accept this. She need to figure out why everyone's stuck. MC should accept who she is now, and see which fans will be there with her in this transition. And in the process maybe even gain new fans.

New album details (39,683) by Quaid Long from USA
Perhaps I'm stating the obvious, but does anyone else have a feeling that she will announce details on the new album very soon after TAOLG comes out on Monday? A few weeks after #Beautiful came out, she announced 7/23 as the release date (and we all know how that turned out, but still). I just get the feeling that once TAOLG comes out, JD & Co. will start giving us more details about the full album. Here's to hoping.

Matthew, MC should let go, not the fans (39,682) by jaker20 from US
Here's the thing, how can the fans let go if she herself can't let go of the past? MC used to be The Voice, but she isn't anymore. She has to accept this. And the only way for her to accept this is to accept her artistic qualities. #Beautiful was on the right path, and what did she do? She lipped on a series of oldies on American Idol, because she wants to prove that she can still sing. Worse, prove she can sing her old songs. How about perform only one song, and do it right? Sing #Beautiful, sing it acapella, sing it simple, live. The way she sang on Fallon. One song, not a series of songs from 15 years ago that she can't give justice to. This has been my issue with MC the past few years. She is kind of flopping her own songs by constantly doing this. She releases great songs, the song rises up the chart, then it flops the moment she sings it. MC should let go of her past glories and accept her now, her limitations. Then the fans will follow.

No Walter questions, please (39,681) by Matthew from USA
Sometimes I think Mariah's fans are the most nostalgic fans ever. The lambs are forever looking back. Back on "the glory days", back when Mariah's voice was perfect, back and back and back. And it's fine to look back. We all have our nostalgic moments. But what I don't get is when the lambs want to relive the past. They want to recreate it. And I think Mariah wants to let go of all that. And she's trying to master the art of letting go. And all the lambs will be asking is if she can work with Walter again like it used to be back then. Here's an idea, Lambily. Let's look to the future.

Q&A (39,680) by Will from England
Do you think Mariah would answer that very question about working with Walter again, if loads of lambs asked her during the listening party? Just a thought. With only four days to go, getting more and more excited.

Billy / Molly interview (39,679) by Bill from the UK
Billy, thank you for sharing that link to the 1997 interview, that was very insightful and fun to watch. Very intrigued that Close My Eyes was originally going to close the album, and hearing how Mariah liked the sparseness of My All and that she wanted Whenever You Call to not be overblown like her other ballads marries up with Walter's recent interview where he said those songs, to him, sounded unfinished. Great stuff, thanks again.

Re: Walter (39,677) by Billy from Greece
Back in July 2005, in a promotional appearance to a German show, a fan asked Mariah if she would work with Walter again. Her response was a rather dismissive "nah", clearly cynical. I'm not saying that that's where she necessarily stands today too, but it is definitely a sign of what other people have also been supporting, namely, that their breakup was much more than just a fight and obviously goes deep.

Stevie, Q&A (39,676) by Trish from USA
I love that Mariah is working with Stevie. I hope it's an original that they wrote together, that would be a pairing of the two best song writers in all the land, and a dream of mine come true. I've always wanted her to write with Smokey Robinson too. I'm so excited for 11/11, I can't wait to hear the Art of Letting Go and hear all the answers to the questions raised on the message boards. 5 days!

You didn't follow me rules. Your last message didn't have a single capital or dot, so I didn't know when a sentence started and when a sentence ended. In fact, it was completely unreadable. I've sent you an e-mail about this, but I guess you just ignored that.

Live fan Q&A (39,674) by Victor from Costa Rica
Hello lambs. Remember that the Live fan Q&A will be regarding the song, not the album or any other topic. I guess Mariah will reveal slowly the details on the album, live, projects, etc. I believe her intention right now is to focus the attention to the single. The lyrics must be very biographical, intense and shocking. We will all know what she is letting go in her live at this point. Or what she can't let go. I can't wait to hear the song!

Walter (39,673) by Brad Catoe from United States
So I would love if she worked with him again, but remember he royally screwed her over. I think this betrayal caused her immense pain. It's in a song lol. He sold her out to Tommy. Now, I'm sure she's over it and "let go", but how would you feel if someone asked you about working with someone like that again. They don't speak for a reason. I think it's great if you guys want to ask and I say go ahead. I'm not saying you shouldn't, but I can't help but think she would be annoyed.
