I completely agree. I am super excited to have new music from two of my favorite singers. I love MC and Celine equally. Both fill different musical tastes for me. It will be nice to have new music to rock my new guy too.

The Art Of Letting Go / Ryan (39,490)
by Alex from England

I 100% agree with you on the meaning of the title. I still hope it'll be the album title also, it sounds poetic and beautiful to me and if the meaning she has for it is the same as we have understood, perfect. It does sound like something profound like Butterfly did, but I will not overthink it until I hear the song (and hopefulle one day soon, the album lol), I don't want to be disappointed, I just want to hear the song and listen to Mariah's heart without having preconceptions. "Baby I can hardly wait."

To me, TAOLG is a very good single and album title. Perhaps, some people will initially think it's "cheesy" or worst, "ew" as I read one comment on her Vevo lol. But I think it's like Butterfly, where she used metaphor. You only realize how genius she is once you hear that 1997 ballad to the end. TAOLG to me is like "Art" for music and "Letting Go" for standing up and moving on from the troubles she had in the last 3 years and just being happy and free.

Rashidi Rahim Rick / new single / that interview (39,487)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
I don't think the album will be out for a while lol. It's just the single that will be released. I must say, I know it was rumoured that there would be a song called "The Art Of Letting Go", and I personally didn't believe it at the time, because to me, I couldn't see how it would fit lyrically. But since it's been confirmed, I'm more excited to see how it goes. This is going to be the longest less-than-a-month ever! As for that interview, I had never heard of the two hosts before so I'm not at all familiar with their show. Is that's their style of interviewing, then ok.

Hello (39,484)

I know this better be the best song I've heard from Mariah or any other artists in a long time, for her to announce the name of the single and then make us wait a month. Ijs. In other news, I love JD being MCs manager. And already even with the announcement and his interaction with the people promoting her is already great. Not that MC needs a consigner, it's nice to have somebody like JD to be the one to do it. Moving on, I enjoyed the Walter A. interview. It was fantastic. Very informative and very complimentary and honest. I hope they work together soon. I believe #Beautiful should be included on the album as the album sales would only push up the single sales for that song.

Walter Afanasieff on the Pauly and Monks Show (39,483)
by TheArtofLettingGo from USA
| |
|
|
Pauly and Monks are the best radio/tv hosts out there right now. They are fun and candid and always have a great time with their guests. Walter gave us more information than I expected and it was nice to hear him and the hosts talk so positively about her. As far as the "bad" things Pauly said about Mariah... lambily, we all have those feelings sometimes, let's be honest. Who cares? I think his point was that he wanted them to work together again. He would tell Mariah those things to her face. That's their show. I agree with the poster who said this show was about Walter, not Mariah and that nothing ever seems good enough. I, for one, am happy to get new info and look forward to seeing him on the show again. Here's the link for anyone who missed it.

Pauly and Monks interview with Walter A (39,482)
by GeorgeUK from United Kingdom
| |
|
|
I'm not sure some of us heard the same broadcast. This was incredibly insightful. It always fascinates me how many people thrive on bringing others down then pass along new information. This was a conversation with and about Walter, not Mariah Carey. The hosts, who are famous in their own right, have an audience that expects them to have fun with the guests and they are big here in the UK. We received more information than we have before, and many of you posted the info then criticized the hosts. It seemed as thought they made him feel at ease. He seemed nervous in the beginning. Will anything ever be good enough, lambs? After all, we wouldn't have had this information otherwise, as Walter rarely does interviews, and as they mentioned on social media, he will be back!

I'm so stoked by the announcement. New Mariah music! It would be nice if she would put that dance remix for #Beautiful we heard in July as a track on one of the singles for the new album. I realize the video is likely a wash, but it would be lovely to hear the full audio. The snippet sounded really good.

My All (39,480)
by Trish from USA
| |

I thought it was interesting that Walter A thought My All and Whenever You Call we're unfinished. Whenever You Call was my wedding song (in 2009) and has always been in my top 5 favorite Mariah songs (who can pick just one?), but I never really got My All, I always thought it was missing something. I love the remixes though! So excited to hear The Art of Letting Go. 11/11.

Re: hosts / Lead The Way (Bill) (39,474)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
I must agree that they interrupted Walter several times, but this is part of the radio hosting process, "guiding" the interview or something. I'm sure they could be smoother. Not to mention that Pauly (the one with the glasses) made some quite bitchy comments about present-day Mariah. Still, I did not find them to be a "parody of gay people" as Bill from the UK suggested. They were just a real-life couple making inside jokes and references to Mariah's music, which is obviously an influence on the both of them. On another note, "Lead The Way" was indeed written during the "Butterfly" sessions but it was never meant for the "Butterfly" album. Mariah wrote it with the movie in mind ("All That Glitters" at that point), which she started developing around the same time. There is a hard-to-find European interview from late 1997 (after the release of "Butterfly") where Mariah talks about a song she wrote for the movie.

Pauly Monks (39,473)
by Chicago Lamb from USA

I agree with a previous poster that had Walter "finished" what he thought was incomplete, the product would have ended up more "schmaltzy". I like those ballads just how Mariah finished them. They work better sparse. I think that's what allows Mariah's emotional to performance shine through.

The hosts of the Walter interview (39,472)
by Will from England

I thought it was just me who noticed that they were being very rude. After they stopped talking about Mariah, I had to switch off because it was just too awful to watch. I have to praise Walter for being so patient with those two, because if it had been me, I would have told them to stop interrupting and let me speak and answer their question.

Walter Afanasieff interview (39,471)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
Pauly and Monks have to be the most obnoxious hosts I've ever listened to. If it wasn't for Walter, I wouldn't have sat through one minute of that rubbish. They kept interrupting him, bursting into song (in awful voices), and (this is probably going to get me stoned) camped it up to the point it was like they were a parody of gay people or something. What a disaster. That said, I knew everything that was said, but for those who can't stomach the show: Walter was contracted by Sony, so couldn't "side" with Mariah during the divorce, which is why they fell out. Lead The Way was meant to be on Butterfly, but was kept off and then used for Glitter. He sees Butterfly as an "unfinished" record, and would have added strings and more syrup and schmaltz to songs like Whenever You Call and My All. Whenever You Call is his favourite song they wrote together.

Mariah Carey and record label issues (39,470)
by DivergentIntel from United States of America
| |
|
|
IMHO, I think MC should go completely independent. That way she cuts out the middle man and gets all of the profits. Macklemore is completely independent with no record label backing him and look at his success. Mariah Carey has an empire and lots of resources and her name alone to further establish and further her career. That way there is no more fighting or stress with big record labels and companies.

Walter A interview (39,469)
by 123 from USA
| |
|
|
I watched it but I didn't really learn much else that I didn't already know. These two "hosts" were the worst interviewers in the world. Each time they asked him a question they interrupted him and ventured off into another topic. Walter seemed interested in going into detail but they kept adding their two cents. I do agree that Butterfly sounded unfinished. A lot of the ballads were very sparse, and initially the album was a let down for me even though I know it is a lamb favorite. He was even going to talk about their rumored reunion, but those hosts interrupted again. It's like we are finally going to get all these questions answered and they kept butting in. So frustrating. I love how he stated how prolific of a writer she is and how he has so much respect for songwriters.

Walter interview (39,468)
by Martyn from England, UK
| |
|
|
I just watched the Walter interview. I have to say that the main anchor was so frustrating. He was so concerned with talking about himself that he kept cutting Walter off. I feel like Walter could've said so much more, but the interviewer kept bringing it back to himself. Great to hear that Mariah seems to be interested in working with Walter again, and it was interesting to hear Walter's opinion on Mariah's music post 1997. They obviously won't have collaborated for this album given that he said he hasn't spoken to her since the fallout, but it seems there may be hope of them working together again in the future. I just hope next time Walter gives an interview, the interviewer will be more interested in Walter rather than themselves.

Walter A interview (39,467)
by Gerald from USA by the way of NYC
| |
|
|
Like some of you I got a chance to listen to the Walter A interview. I must say it was very informative and I can also see that Walter really regrets what happened between him and MC that made their patnership go sour. I must also give W.A. credit for acknowledging Mariah's musicianship among her peers. I can only hope that one day that both he and MC can put the past in the past and work on the 5 albums he knows they can create I would definitely support their reunion. Have a good day MCA family.
