Stop comparing it to WBT (39,735) by Blake from USA
OK seriously I love it. It's refreshing and it's a story telling memoir. It's the kind of song that grows on you but her non-whispery vocal is flawless and I don't care if it isn't repeating the same ol' cookie cutter chorus. It's what radio needs now. I'm tired of Katey Perry, Goo Goo Gone, Lady Gaga, Rhianna. Same old sh*t. This is far from WBT. Welcome back Mimi and for the haters, go to Mimi in your contacts, press delete. Thank you.

Um, almost but much love is felt as well as pain released (39,734) by Joyce from USA
A revelation of the deep hurt that lingered within Mariah like confused, lost and bitter ghosts, unwilling to leave the empty and lonely corridors of her broken and abandoned heart. Pain was an anchor, too heavy to break free from, until true and unconditional loves light came to set her free from darkness with the love flooded into her by her children and husband. Louise Miguel, whom devastated her heart and trashed all happiness with loves disaster of the heart, the hurricane of a heartbreak. The pain slowly became eclipsed by the reality of living day to day life in her new marriage and exceedingly by the love for her until all of those angry, bitter, hurt and lost ghosts - aspects of herself, no longer felt trapped and were able to fly away. At first I felt uncomfortable listening to this because so much time had passed since she had been married and even much more time had passed since her heart was devastated by Mr. Miguel, especially as it's written as if it was just a few short years ago. But I know songs are like movies and television shows, so much is for theatre - for the songs sake and less emphasis to the historical accounts. I look forward to re-mixing this in garageband.

I love the song but... (39,733) by Randy from USA
It's not a hit. And I hate being negative when MC gives us what we want. That's why I'm not tripping. It's deep lyrics and introspective. I don't care about a #1. Firstly, let's look at the state of the music industry. Celine released a pop-friendlier song that didn't chart on the Hot 100 at all. Secondly, MC used three syllable words. So not, Blurred Lines. The biggest issue I have with the song, and you all are going to crucify me for this, she will not be able to sing this live so I'm expecting more smoke and mirrors. But I do love the song.

It's beautiful (39,732) by Zachary from Croatia
It's just that, beautiful. Like the first single, only better. God bless us and her.

A total surprise and everything makes sense (39,731) by Victor from Costa Rica
I'm more than pleased. This is art people. Stop judging the song and enjoy the emotional ride that comes with it. I was surprised at the begining because I wasn't expecting the way she started singing, but then I understood why the song was made that way. She is a storyteller, and she should remove feelings from it in order to let us know relate to the story and not the voice. Then a little breaks comes and it's when she relates to it and the powerful voice is released. This will be a classic and her future signature song. It moved me, I enjoy listening her struggle and that she realizes about the issue she has. I totally approve this song and believe in her and this song.

The Art of Letting Go (39,730) by Lyric from USA
The song is not catchy enough for radio because there is no clear chorus. The verses are wordy and dull, the production is boring. I think Mariah needs to re-think some things. The best part of the song was the buildup at the end. At the end of the day, I would like to see the song be successful for her so hopefully it can do well on the charts despite it all.

TAOLG advocate (39,729) by Badr from USA
"WBT part 20"? It sounds nothing like "We Belong Together" or anything she's ever done. It actually reminds me of "Vision of Love", and I think this is how she had wanted it to sound. Back to TAOLG, I have absolutely no objection. I don't understand why some people complain about the "lack" of a "hook". She's experimenting with the structure of her songs, trying it to make it more poetic and leaving behind the typical form of popular songs.

The voice (39,728) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
All hail the queen. This will be a huge album for Mimi. I predict it selling like donuts from a crispy creme booth at a cop convention. I'm telling you, "can't nobody can't nobody" sing like Mimi, that voice speaks to me like no other. She just gave us gospel, jazz, and classical all in one song in 2013, now that's a bad bad bish right there. Excuse my French. Simply the world's greatest. I don't know what I'm gonna do when I hear what she and Stevie did in that studio. Have mercy.

The Art of Letting Go (39,727) by VeliJames from Swaziland
Love. Love. Love. I like the whole retro feel to it and the rawness to her vocals, I can totally see her performing this live and bringing it on home. Even though there's no thrills of her legendary whisper register, I can see her peppering this song live with it (like she often did with live performances of "Through the Rain"). The staccato and "wall of Mariah" vocals on past songs, while great on cd, didn't always translate to great vocals live. I do wish, however, that the production of the music could have been a little more in tandem with the lyrics, it feels like something is not altogether there with it. Other than that, this is a beauty. Take a bow, MC.

Great voice, wrong song (39,726) by Weston from United States
She sounds simply amazinh on this song. None of that "whispery" stuff that we all get so irritated about. But this sounds more like an album cut than an actual smash-hit single. This sounds like something that I would personally like on an album but not on the radio. I really hate to be negative, because I really do love this woman, but I can't help to feel a little disappointed. Boo.

The Art Of Letting Go / production and music (39,725) by Taylor from USA
This is a very good song, but what kept it from being a great one is the production and music. The piano and strings are beautiful and serve nicely to accentuate the mood of the message of the song. The rest is just too sparse and underwhelming. There should be more emphasis on the changing on cords and progression to accentuate the emotion of the song. Lyrically, Mariah delivered both in vocals and writing. Her vocals are strong enough, but the lackluster production of the music (piano and strings aside) did not serve the delivery and emotions of the vocals. It does sound very much like a demo version, and I hope there would be a "Radio Edit" or "Single Version", and this is the "Album Version". Furthermore, it is a bit hard to follow and does not instantly catch you. Again, I do believe this is due to the production of the music. There are not enough changes and emphasis during verses/choruses and the eventual dramatic belting at the end. Of course, overproduction is also a caution, but this would benefit a little bit more production.

Little disappointed (39,724) by Will from Australia
So I've bought it on iTunes as I'll always support her, but I'm a little let down by the single. Sure there's lots to be happy with - new sound, move away from WBT part 20, certain areas of her voice. What's annoying me is the lack of fluidity to the verses and this use of overly long words and in general words that people just use in their everyday dominion. Sure this is how Mimi likes to talk, being funny, but she needs to realise it doesn't translate well into lyrics, exceedingly not. I actually wish she'd do an album where other artists write it and she just uses her voice. Don't get me wrong, she's a goddess, but the lyrics are getting worse each album.

TAOLG (39,723) by 123 from USA
It is my b-day tomorrow so thanks Mimi for the gift. The good: She is singing in full voice, with minimal layering. Her voice sounds great. I don't care what genre she sings as long as she is singing. And singing she is. There is some noticeable production to her voice, but it is not enough to take away from the song. The old school/retro sound is the direction I have been begging her to take for a while now. The bad: The wordy/rap-sung intro, and lack of melody in the verses, and non-existent hook from the hook queen herself is alarming. The song seems unfinished, just like Beautiful did. I keep getting the feeling that all these records are unfinished when I listen to them. Like they were too excited with the demo version and decided to release it instead of crafting it to perfection. The lyrics are a little lackluster, because of the excessive word usage. All in all, it is a path in the right direction, miles above the bland Almost Home and uninspired laziness of Triumphant. MC, if the rest of the records sound unfinished like this, much like the Nas record you said is still being worked on, keep working on it and don't release it until it is done. I will wait for your perfection, because I know it will be well worth it. I give the song a B-/C+.

The Art Of Letting Go (39,722) by RadChad from United States
It's real, raw, emotional, powerful. This is one of those songs you just listen to and feel and upon each listen you feel it even more. Those skillful runs, the poetic vocal arrangement. I love it. If she keeps releasing music like this the people who don't respect her as an artist now will sing her praises. Great job Mariah. I'm looking forward to what's instored with this album.

Message in the song? (39,721) by Dav from Ireland
"They have to listen very closely to the lyrics, especially the last two lines of the second verse," Carey notes. That's the delete Mimi contact line. Why do we have to listen to that? Any ideas?

Astonishing new song. Great vocals, powerful and insighful lyrics, first-class production. This is the type of music I expect from MC.

A good direction (39,719) by Matthew from USA
The good: Lyrically, this is all Mimi. I wouldn't be surprised if she was the only writing credit. The vocals are good, especially at the end. It has a very subdued retro feel. She should definitely be able to sing this live. The bad: The song has a weak hook. Her other introspection songs have much stronger hooks (Looking in, Outside, I Wish You Well). Usually when the melody is so sparse, the singer uses her voice to create the pacing (My All). Instead, the pacing is all over the place, and it gives the whole song a kind of spoken word feel (non fans will say she's doing her Idol rambling ). Finally, this is definitely not a chart friendly song. As a guy who loves melodies and choruses, this is a 6/10 for me. But I think the direction she is going in is great.

TAOLG (39,718) by Alex from England
I am so ecstatic about the new single. I am not one of those lambs who keep looking back hoping Mariah will release Daydream part 2, because I have loved her since Butterfly came out. That being said, I love the new song and it reminds me of her older anthems such as Outside (background vocals) and Can't Take That Away (lyrical style). Her voice may not sound the same as then, but damn, she is still the reigning diva of all divas. #Beautiful and TAOLG are really making me excited about the album that shapes up to be a classic yet contemporary type of record if I may guess. Anyway, welcome back Mariah, now give us the album.

Mariah can do no wrong (39,717) by Carol from Spain
This song is way perfect. Naturally some feel it is too simple. Iguess she can't please the whole world. For me, the song is flawless - the lyrics, the voice, the not so over produced sound. Basically, the whole thing is beyond perfect. Actually, the arrangement kinda reminds me of VOL alot. Some say it's not radio friendly, I say otherwise because it's so different from everything out there that people will opne their ears. This is an anthem for life.

It is stunning, from the melody, to her vocal performance and the old school production, just wow. And that climax is everything, only Mariah has the ability to make you feel the music deep down.

Split (39,715) by Will from England
I'm a bit split over the song. Vocally, she knocked it out the park at the end. Lyrically, I thought it was a bit clumsy here and there, and it felt a bit, out of place? Though it does have some highlight moments ("press delete" lol). Musically, loving the retro feeling to it, and the simplicity about it. Refreshing to hear something that isn't techno/EDM or whatever. It's certainly not a song you can sing along to or dance for that matter, more like lay back in your chaise lounge/sofa/park bench, have a "splash", hit play and just listen and marvel at it. Will it chart high? Maybe not on Billboard, but certainly with the lambs it will. It doesn't sound like something that you would hear on the radio, and I don't know if that will play in its favour or not. We shall see.

The art of letting go (39,714) by Gerald from USA by the way of NYC
Bravo Mariah, you came through lady from the classic vocals you are known for to the thinking outside of the box as far as contemporary radio and going back to a soulful adult contemporary sound with simple production. Also the lyrics are so real and honest that anyone and everyone can feel and relate to them. You knocked it out of the park with this one. MC today makes me proud I am fan.

The Art of Letting Go (39,712) by Jamie from UK
A stunning vocal performance indeed. The song reminds me a bit of Can't Take That Away except with better lyrics. And I can definitely see her singing this live. I give it 8/10. And who do you think she's referring to when she sings "I hope you don't get no ideas about reuniting baby." Walter? Lol.

I absolutely love the song (39,711) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
The old school retro gospel feeling mixed with her contemporary vocals is just beautiful. And that last note, reminiscent of WBT a bit. It might not be everyone's bag and that should be OK to discuss, but it has this timeless quality I love. It sounds like it could be in a movie soundtrack.
