Just a thought. I don't know folks working relationships, but J.Cole, Wale or Nas would've been a nice addition also. But since I've listened to this Rocky remix a few times now, I really like it and can't wait to buy it on iTunes.

#Beautiful remix (38,398)

Hi lambs. I just heard the "remix" of #Beautiful. It is absolutely awful and doesnt even blend with the genre of the song. It is so displaced. There is no new or additional singing from Mariah on it. Frankly, it's rubbish. I hate to say it, because her songs have been an absolute mainstay for me over the last 23 years of my life, but her singing career seems over. She has single-handedly undone her own fairy-tale story with this sort of offering. People are no longer interested in her singing or music and I'm just about ready to join them. She never reached that zenith that I hoped she would. What a shame. Hopefully, she invested her prior earnings wisely and can find a new avenue of success because her music career is pretty much over.

New album (38,395)
by Lee from UK

I would love to hear more stripped back vocals from Mariah on the new album. I personally adore her vocal layering, but I think it's time for her to make something she can confidently perform live. All she needs is herself, a piano and a couple of backing singers, maybe something more Jazz related. Bring back the days of Patrick, Billy and Trey. The music she is currently releasing leaves no wriggle room for mixing it up during a live performance. In the past when she performed songs like Vanishing, she could sing it as she felt it at the time and it didn't matter if it wasn't exactly like the studio recording. With the more recent music, as it is so over produced, the songs are difficult to perform live.

Album release (38,394)
by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada

I'm glad that the album has been postponed. This might be an unpopular view, but it has been clear watching Mariah and her team in the last month are they not ready. I would much rather have solid seamless promo appearances and a beautiful body of work from start to finish, then something that is rushed and slapped together to make money. I'll happily wait as long as needed rather than be upset or angry about 7/23. In my heart of hearts, I really think Mariah knows "Triumphant" wasn't retrieved well hence why she was obviously uncomfortable during the live performance of it. I do feel she has been re-evaluating her music, personally. There is a part of her that will always gravitate toward hip-hop because she loves doing it. I'm sure there will be some flavors of it on the album, but I really don't think the new album is going to be full of hip hop tracks. Like many of you I can appreciate a track or two of it and I love when her soprano blends well with the right track, but in general I'm not a hip hop fan much at all. If anything MC has educated me and I would not have exposure to it without her. I think she knows a big portion of her fanbase is this way too.

I knew that the album wouldn't be released on its scheduled date, I find it hard to believe that people thought it would. We have been receiving pictures of Mariah in the studio for a long time and they still haven't stopped coming, so the album clearly was not ready for a July release.

Mariah's IDJ Deal (38,391)
by Anonymous from

After the Virgin fiasco, she singed a 3 album deal wiith IDJ. She's released 4 studio albums and a Christmas album. Did they renegotiate the deal after the success of The Emancipation Of Mimi? Hopefully this album will complete their agreement.

New album (38,390)

I agree [...] the one talking about [...] producers. I will also be totally happy [...] an RnB album, but please not something similiar to Memoirs, because I didn't really like that album at all. The only track i did like was IWTKWLI, I love the live [...]. But, don't think Mariah will sell that many records anymore if she continues [...] rnb lane. She doesn't have to make any techno, but more pop, maybe With an rnb sound. She was well at doing buble gum pop in the '90s, and I love those songs. I don't say that I want more buble gum pop, but mature pop, and I'm expecting more mature lyrics since she now is a mom, and have mentioned that it has influenced her [...]. I also have to say that I also loved Glitter, from the moment it was released. And in Norway, aroung Christmas time, the biggest [...] paper in Norway picked it as one of the top 5 albums to buy this year. The [...] is fantastic, and I love Mariah's voice in all her songs. I dont think there is a [...] song on that album i don't like. Maybe she should re-release it hehe.

Does Mariah really need a record label? (38,389)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
With low promtion and lack of interest from Def Jam when it comes to Mariah and her music, does she really need a label to make music? With physical cds almost gone, why would she need a big label behind her to distribute her music on the internet e.g. iTunes, Amazon? I wouldn't mind if Mariah puts together a 10 or 12 tracks album at least every 1.5 years from now on as long as the music is good. I think she should go back to basics, and stop bringing an army to write with her. I didn't personally like what The Dream brought on Memoirs, it was repetitive. I hope she finds her muse again, and brings back the Mariah we fell in love with.

New album, world tour (38,387)
by Giorgi Ch. from Georgia

|
|
I was so disappointed by the news that the new album release was postponed. I hope it's for better to be postponed if Mariah thinks it's not ready. We all understand that there must be so much anticipation and pressure for the new album, but once again, I think that Mariah must be the one who makes the most important decisions. Also, I feel that Island Def Jam doesn't appreciate (and if they appreciate, personally I think that they don't care to act like one) that they have Mariah Carey on the label, they're more concerned about Rihanna (my personal opinion, I love her, but for me Mariah always was/is/will be #1). On the other hand, I'm so happy that world tour is coming, I really can't wait. I hope it will be huge and will have many dates across Europe. For now, as an adoring fan, all I can do is wait.

I think we can all agree we don't want another album like Memoirs. I would prefer an album with a retro soul sound, like #Beautiful. She should work with Happy Perez, who obviously knows what her fans want.

Confused (38,385)
by Licia from USA

I'm confused about the Showbiz article, because he's implying that Mariah is doing mainly hip hop type songs, but I clearly remember her saying she has a lot of ballads on the album. So I'm not understanding where he's going with this article or why there would be an issue with the label if she gave them what they wanted. Anyway I could care less if she sticks with the hip hop, rnb, or just does ballads. I'm a fan of all three and as long as the music is good I have no problem with whatever direction she goes in.

I agree with your post, and with your comments on TEOM. The point I was trying to make is that the overall creative direction of TEOM was seamless. Despite LA Reid asking Mariah to make some more tracks with JD, he wasn't unhappy with the direction; being rnb tracks fused with hip hop and old school rnd ballads. He was just not happy with the quality of the music Mariah initially produced. Re #Beautiful, I love that track. However, I do agree that Mariah needs to leave IDJ. It's time to move on. I also think she doesn't need as much help as she thinks with song writing and producing. Some of her best work is when she strips it back and takes full control. Glitter and Daydream are both good examples of that. I too enjoyed Memoirs.

My hope for the new album (38,383)
by Matthew from USA
| |
|
|
What I want from the new album is new producers. I love JD, Dream, and Rodney Jenkins. They've done a lot for R&B and Hip-Hop music. But it might be time to work with some new folks. #Beautiful was produced by someone MC has never worked with, and the sound was so different and great. The same happened when she was able to snag Neptunes for Say Somethin'. The result was something we never heard before that was fresh. Then JD produced the remix, which was back on more familiar territory. So if MC wants to stay doing Hip-Hop and R&B, that's fine with me. But I hope she gets some new producers. It's going to be hard for her, because when she did Memoirs, JD kind of threw a tantrum because The Dream got most of the production on that album but he will be alright. MC is at the level of fame where I'm sure producers would be happy to work with her. There are a lot of new guys on the scene, and while many of them are focused on EDM and techno, which MC dislikes, they might be able to add a new perspective to the Hip-Hop/R&B that MC wants to do. Look at what Kanye did on his last album. He did that because he wasn't working with the typical rap producers. What do you guys think?

Mariah Hip-Hop / Showbiz 411 (38,381)
by Chase from USA

I sincerely hope the journalist's suggestion that creative issues have arisen, specifically concerning Mariah's desire to go hip-hop, is false. Sadly, I believe it may be true. I doubt I was the only one who gave an eye roll when I saw Mariah in the studio with Young Jeezy. I liked Mariah's early experiments with hip-hop, particularly on Butterfly, but I believe it is a completely stale genre for her. I was already sick of it by Rainbow, and I have rarely enjoyed the hip-hop tracks on her post-Butterfly albums. The general public does not look to Mariah for hip-hop, and her career has never been the same since it became her go-to genre. I am over it and will not fork over the $15 for another stale album. I hope this speculation is false, and if it isn't, then Mariah, please get it together.

Be a pro (38,380)
by Brad from USA
| |

|
Hi lambs. This message will not be popular, but sometimes certain things need to be said. While I will always love MC, a 23 year veteran artist does not announce a major album release and then reneg. As a pro, one gets it straight from the go and re-records what needs to be done before a release is ever announced. The album must be a complete mess, otherwise how does a last minute "duet" with Miguel (with an uninspired video) become the first cut that is released? What happened to songs like "Save the Day" and all the inspiration the twins supposedly brought to her writing? Louise McNally and her new management should have been on top of this a long time ago. Also, perhaps on a different matter, it's time for MC to stop having a "toast" for every event. It cheapens the import of such events and sends a poor message, especially as a mother, concerning alcohol consumption. Fail.

Putting the varriage before the horse (38,378)
by nikki from usa

As "Showbiz" put it, that was his guess, not facts, of which he received none from the people he was trying to contact. I don't see why anyone would claim she had no ballads or big voiced songs when she clearly stated early on that's exactly what she had. We got pictures of her with R.Kelly from last year and she already stated she had plenty of "raw ballads". It may be possible there are conflicts about the dominating genre/tempo of the album. This already sounds like a re-run of Memoirs. She had worked with JD on 7 tracks, she worked with Timbaland, and so many others yet not one of those wound up on the record. It was all Mariah like the label wanted no doubt, and what the fans always claim they want, but then it bombed. Angels Cry couldn't even crack the Hot 100. Her cover only hit #60 and these are all Mariah-esque big ballads in the pop genre. (Isn't it ironic that what did make the top 10 was sassy hip-pop?) I think Mariah played ball with her label last time and she's not willing to do that again. I trust her to find the right "mix" of Mariah, fans, and showbiz blitz without sacrificing her artistic direction. After all, the last time she did that, we got Butterfly.

Three years? (38,377)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
It used to take Mariah less than a year to produce great records like Daydream and Butterfly. Unless she's dropping off most of what she had recorded, three years is enough time to produce a decent album. I just hope that by rushing things, the album doesn't morph into another Rainbow or maybe Charmbracelet. People want to hear Mariah sing like she does on #Beautiful, the whispering is too much for many people. I hope Mariah hasn't lost her muse. Some people don't understand that record labels are in the business to make money. They don't make money from concerts. Mariah probably made more money from those two songs in Paris than what she will probably make from this album after everybody's paid off.

I agree with you on the quality of the music, but honestly, TEOM was not seamless. Remember, when she brought an album, with Say Something as the first single to IDJ, LA Reid told her to go back and work with Jermaine and they wrote the three big hits together. I will say that MC is more than capable of putting a great album together by herself. Remember that Glitter was all her and we agree despite its poor sales performance it was an awesome album. I am not a big fan of #Beautiful, but I did like Memoirs a lot. So I trust her and IDJ should also. She needs to leave that label and most of you will agree on that, even though you may not agree with my viewpoint. That's all.
