Who cares about the Grammy's? (102,194)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
That particular Grammy category is quite controversial, but also has a lot of boxes to check for one to win. What I noticed is that the body of work has to stand for something other than just a collection of hit songs. Most albums that have indeed won in the category were "themed" albums, but also powerful statements made by the various artists at that time. Notable works include: "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill", “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” by Outkast, "Taking the Long Way" by The Dixie Chicks ,"Faith" by George Michael to name a few. However, as in the case of Mariah, she's been robbed multiple times I would say in this category not just with "Daydream" and "The Emancipation of Mimi" but also "Butterfly" (her strongest contender) which was not even nominated - an album of the year kind of album without a doubt. It's not surprising to see Beyonce lose this category over and over, she isn't a true artist in the vein of Bonnie Raitt, Prince, Adele, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, Alisson Krauss, Aretha Franklin, Santana etc. The closest she came was with the "Lemonade" album and in all honesty that was a much better record than Adele's "25" and Adele knew this too. Oh well, like Drake even said on their own show, the real reward is having feedback in the form of acknowledgment and gratitude from your fans and casual listeners that your music resonates with the masses and actually touches lives, now that is the true win, and Mariah especially is number one winner when it comes to that. We know it and they know it too.

Who cares about the Grammy's? (102,193)

It's rather funny to see people coming to Beyonce's defense for why she didn't win the album of the year. To me, it's rather an embarrassment to hear her on radio as if it can be called music. It sure seems like she is an early adoption of ChatGPT - using AI to work on her album and maybe her singing too. Anyways, Rarities truly is the best works MC released in past 10 years or so. My 2 cents.

Awards are a thing but even if you have 5000 Grammys, then what? I don't really get why they put B as the epitome of artistry. The show is kinda scary now as it becomes a cult of whom Hollywood wants to be considered as class acts.

It is Mariah's most streamed album just shows how much hunger there is for new music from the queen of music chanteuse. That it's occured shortly after the holidays is not a coincidence. PS My Love is a bop. Mariah has deep catalog gems. You just have to be open minded.

The hatred and the jealously, I would love to see a picture of you. For the record Mariah has been skinnier than size 6 many times this last decade alone. Internet has made everyone a fake doctor, fake therapists and fake psychologists. The nonstop crazy unwarranted, unwanted, baseless accusations and the constant lies for your made-up diagnosis of Mariah. I'm sick and tired of it. The persistent evil speculations, like when will you guys be tired? Give up already, Mariah is the epitome of beauty, grace and love, exactly the opposite of the "theme" of this messageboard unfortunately.
One day I will post a lengthy message here detailing exactly how many in this board and the haters around the world have contributed to Mariah's lows, whether it's done intentionally or unintentionally. Like honestly pure toxicity.

MC just does not work with a multitude of fresh and innovative producers and songwriters exclusively. She should take Chris Brown's and Harry Styles' approach to choosing songwriters and producers - collaborate with young and upcoming songwriters and producers who are really good at giving an artist a unique new sound. Harry Styles' As It Was is a brilliant masterpiece that stays in your head all day. Brezzy has had hit after hit on the radio because of who he collaborates with. With MC's impressive songwriting skills and a fresh sound, the Grammys would take notice again. Hopefully, MC is taking notes this year to step out of her comfort zone.

Okay, I'm just going to say it: I'm a salty beep who will die mad at the Grammy's. I know this topic has been discussed as nauseum, but there's just no way it can only be 5 wins for her. I don't believe she deserves all the awards, but she should certainly be lauded far more than she has been. Her pen game, production, vocal arrangements, and vocals were superb in her prime. I'm mad and saddened that her artistry has been dismissed and overlooked for so long. And, no - I'm not congratulating beepin nobody (quadruple italic and underlined exclamation marks.)

Does anyone have a mp3 of DJ Tracy Young's remix of FLAB? I can't find it on YouTube or the web. Also, I discovered on YouTube this weekend the David Harness remix of FLAB with new vocals and whole new choir. Check it out. As usually, I can't figure out how to post the link. Webmaster, can you do it for me so the MCA Family can enjoy too? Thank you.

I struggle with weight. I can't imagine what it's like to be in the public eye with paparazzi outside your building. But why does it seem MCs weight goes up and down so much and so quickly. Maybe this is a bad angle. But I swear it reminds me of the parody Debra Wilson and MadTV did with the "I'm Not Insane" where she sings the line as MC, "Although my weight, does fluctuate." Any thoughts on this phenomenon where MC goes from a size 6 to a size 16 in a matter of two months?

Hey guys. I don't post often but I always love to read everyone's thoughts and comments here. I figured I had to share this with everyone as it's too funny (and oddly specific) to keep to myself.
So last night I had a dream about MC and long story short, the gist of the dream was that our girl announced she'd be releasing a brand new album on February 27th called "Delights of Love" and the lead single was called "L.O.V.E." and was already doing well on radio. The album cover was a random blue design with a faint image of MC's face in the background lol.
Not sure how I feel about the album or single titles but a new album on February 27th sure would be fantastic.

2010s the decade of scrutiny (102,178)
by Libra Lamb from USA
| |
|
|
I have to agree with this post, however, for me personally I love every MC album from 1990 to present, but if I had to name one that I play the least is Chanteuse. It was good, but it has been my least favorite since its release and I hardly ever revisit it. Great songs but it feels like something signature Mariah was missing. Maybe one day it will grow on me. Until new music is released, we have an entire discography to revisit that most artists could only dream of. MC is a musical genius and no one will ever take that away from her, like the light that shines bright inside of her. Now come on Mimi and put out a new album already.

2010s the decade of scrutiny (102,176)
by "MariahHater" from Hell
| |
|
|
It made me realize that this decade has been very harsh for Mimi. I can't help but be sad about every year that she has to go through careerwise but the very least she has her twins. Even the music was on point, maybe we are not used to her being a hitmaker but try to give all her 2010s releases a spin and you will be surprised that I missed and the general public missed out a lot. For me if I was Mariah, I would also put my career on the backseat and focus on my core family. As she was a product of a broken and dysfunctional family, she still put the welfare of the children over hers and I must say that this is means more than to keep her chart records, additional number ones and career milestones because at the end of the day, they are just skins that we shed and not the core of who we are as a human being. That being said, I hope you guys give love to her 2010s releases as they are something and if released today can still stand on their own. That is the magic of Mariah Carey. I don't want to make this more longer but on my next posts, I will tackle how people lambasted Triumphant when it's a fire song if released this 20s.

UEFA Championship League is promoting their Valentine's Day game using WBT. It is a great commercial using MC's emotional 14 weeks at #1 break-up song. They show the players and fans during emotional scenes and plays as MC sings the outro chorus part before she delivers the emotional climax. I guess that's another 5 million in MC's bank account.

I think Mariah crash diets when she is preparing for a promotional blitz and then puts the weight back on once she's done with promoting her latest project and goes back to unhealthy patterns. I think it's as simple as that. Maintaining a healthy weight and fitness requires more than just temporary dieting and quick fixes - it involves adjustment of one's lifestyle. This means a lifestyle that includes regular exercise, healthy eating, abstaining from alcohol and other unhealthy substances, good sleep habits, et cetera. I think Mariah can do the exercise and healthy eating bit, but her Achilles heels always seem to be her poor sleep habits and her consumption of alcohol.

This is so random. I've had infinity in my head all week. "It's more than and made up - Dreaaam." I love the beat and orchestra, it's the weak lyrics that kill me. The beat and and orchestra deserve better lyrics. But I low key love this song. Did it deserve to be the closing song of #1 to Infinity album? No. But is it a nice stand alone moment (like Triumphant)? Yes.

I hope Mariah will do something about this. I observed that it's been a trend for old songs reappearing again thanks to TikTok. If she'll send this to Radio (I don't know how complicated it would be now), revamped it as a 2022 single with a new cover art and make a music video for it, she can score at least another top 40 hit ala Lady Gaga's Bloody Mary.
