Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) (103,798)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I just thought about this song today. Why are Christmas ballads not as popular as up tempo songs during the Christmas season? Every song released and makes it unto the charts is up tempo or mid tempo. You would think with the right promotion and airplay, Miss You Most could easily be a top 10 hit each year.

I also think she looks fine in that red dress. Thank God she didn't go for a Little Red Riding Hood outfit.

I'm forced to agree. What's wrong with the dress, Jamie? It's a cute photo, Mariah's expression is one of genuine happiness, and I'll take that lovely dress of a leotard or sparkling ballgown any day.

Mariah can't do a thing without getting criticism. I mean you're really gonna judge her dress in a photo with her children? That's just pretty low. Most of these comments on this board are low, it's sad.

Y'all need to get yourself a grip up there in the Northern Hemisphere. I would give my left nut to see MC doing a Christmas show. You lot bitching and moaning about aspects of the Christmas concerts - spare a thought for those of us in the ass-end of the world that never get factored into Christmas concerts. And on top of that, we have to wake up to 40C and blazing sun on Christmas Day and listen to songs about how cold and snowy it is while we sweat into our speedos.

I also don't get the attack on the dress. I like it a lot and it is flattering her age and figure. What was she supposed to have on - ripped jeans with her ass hanging out? It's not 1999 anymore.

With all due respect, MC is not that girl when it comes to fashion. She's had a few good fashion moments here and there throughout the years, but fashion and designing clothes is not her thing. Her personal style is not good.

Mariah has a Spotify taping with fans in LA in early November. She is also rumored to make a big announcement before her Christmas tour starts and have a big collaboration coming up. Could the fabled "Themed Album" be another Christmas album? Whereas a third Christmas album would be crazy even for Mariah, it also could be her safest album venture. Mariah is smart and knows her albums don't sell anymore but she also knows that she holds special magical powers during the holiday season. It's a long shot but maybe she's recorded another holiday album with a lot of collaborations? Either way - something is a'brewing.

I am torn as well. I've seen Mariah every time she's come to Chicago, from Music Box through Caution, and part of me wants to keep the streak going. But I already saw her Christmas show at the Beacon Theater during its second year in 2015, which may have been the best year for it voice wise. Also, ticket prices have become ridiculous post-COVID, so that turns me off and makes me tired of playing that game. Lastly, based on the most recent videos, I'm not sure if it's even worth it. With that said, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the Christmas special that aired last year, so maybe she'll pull some miracle and it'll sound good. So, yes, I'm also torn. Perhaps I'll watch last year's show off my DVR early December and decide then.

Libra, we all are truly concerned about MC's career. Retirement will save her legacy. If she continues down this path of poor performances, YouTube viewers and music critics are not going to be nice anymore. She should stop performing live until her vocal issues are resolved. I would rather have The Rarities release #2-5 for the next 5 years than for MC to continue performing live and sounding a hot mess. I just wish Kuk Harrell or Mervyn Warren or Donald Lawrence were around in the 90s as her vocal coach producing her vocals. They would have told her no to the way she sung in that breathiness tone from 1995-1999 and to stop the whistle notes. If only Tommy made MC have a vocal coach during those early years, we might not be cringing in our seats now with every live performance.

Wow, I haven't posted here in years. I see some familiar faces still live here. Is anyone else torn on whether or not to go see Mariah in this upcoming run of shows? On the one hand, I want to see her because I've been a lamb for 25 years. With so many stars dying, there is always a scary thought of what if this is your last chance in the back on my head. On the other hand, her performances are just awful and maddening these days. Those shows last year had me so upset and sad for her. I also hate how she waits until October to publicize the shows. Why not tell us in July or August so that people can get their coins and travel set ahead of time? It's inconsiderate considering that the shows are in the midst of 2 holidays. I had to ask myself could I justify paying up to $1,000 for a front row seat (I'm too old of a lamb to sit in the back) just to hear her sing flat, and lipsynch the same old songs in the same old arrangement? Yet... a part of me still longs to go just for the merch and the chance to be seen by her.

I beg you all, stop calling that fantastic record "Einstein". It's neither cute nor funny. E=MC2 was, and is, a great title for a record.
Mariah Carey's Einstein? No.
Parlez vous francais? I said no. Lemme translate it: I said no. I can say it en español: no. Portuguese? Boy, you know. Japanese? Boy, you know. I said it: I said no. I said it: I said no.
