Back to chart obsession (110,521) by Bobby A from United States
I believe the plan all along was for Sugar Sweet to be a promo single. Someone realized at Gamma it just wasn't going to do anything on the charts. Some AR executive said probably that afro beats was not what people wanted from Mariah Carey. They released SS anyway to launch preorders. I hope the third single is the one.

Doja Cat (110,520) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
While I get that but it's so clear that she never met these 2 artists before because from the "behind the scenes" video we could see they're meeting for the first time when shooting the promo clip. I would think a songwriter like Mariah would at least want to be more acquainted with whoever she chooses to collaborate with because she's so picky with who she works with. She keeps picking random artists.

Marketing flop (110,519) by Lambi from USA
Yup. They really thought they were cooking including MrBeast on the video. It's very obviously a clout move and he left it in the dust. I'm sure she had the money to be like, "3 instagram post, here's $150k." but she didn't. However, I'm lowkey glad MrBeast didn't fully associate himself with this song because it's not Mariah's best work.

This strategy was giving when Jermaine thought it was a good idea to exclusively release The Art Of Letting Go on Facebook because Mariah had 14 million followers at the time, only for that not to translate into sales at all. It flopped so badly.

It's interesting that she can sing during some occasions and other occassions she can't. Something inside of MC is happening when she sings. Country singer Martina McBride lost her voice in 2022 from 30 years of overuse of her voice. Sadly, I feel HFIA will be MC's last album. It has been 7 years without new music because MC can't sing her songs like she wants to with all of the riffs, runs, and belting. I want the best for MC.

Back to chart obsession (110,516) by jaker20 from US
It's like clockwork in this forum. I love Doja but collabing with her just to chart is pretty desperate. She's likely to out-chart Mariah, but who cares, as long as HFIA is as good as Caution, I will be happy. If we hope for a chart position for HFIA, we will be disappointed.

When Sugar Sweet was released, reception was extremely positive. But because it didn't chart, we don't like it anymore. The quickness lambs switch on her based on chart position is sad. She's really a victim of her own success.

I love the song, love the beat, it feels like a classic. It doesn't feel out of place to her catalog like that I Don't mess. And she's collabing and she increase their profile even a little. She's in her giving era, launching careers. I hope the song has its moment someday, I'm almost thinking it being a theme for a cooking show and it explodes lol. That's how IWTKWLI is Brazil when it became a theme for a show.

Doja Cat (110,515) by T from USA
Mariah said they were perfect for the song and she had them in mind. So that's how these two relatively unknown girls got on the song.

Special 20 votes today for MTV VMA (110,514) by T from USA
Today you can cast up to 20 votes for an artist in their category. We can all double Mariah's chances to finally winning a moon man if we all cast our votes today.

It's only double the votes from 1pm-2pm EST today so roughly thirty mins left to cast 20 votes for Mariah.

Do you all think? (110,513) by BFF from United States
I agree. I think we are heading for an outcome like what we got with the "Caution" album. That album got great reviews but hardly sold at all and faded away quickly. The tour for that album was pretty successful, but I'm not sure Mariah has the capacity for a tour at that scale any more. She completed shows for "The Celebration of Mimi", but we all know the performances were almost entirely pre-recorded. It was also the same sequence of songs every night.

In hindsight, I wish they would have promoted "Type Dangerous" more. I prefer it to "Sugar Sweet" and think it could have blown up more if the music video and remixes had come out sooner. I don't know how they plan to recover momentum for the rollout since the album release date is still over a month away.

Of course she still can sing. But I just shared Dave's thoughts because I agree with his comment that most of the people out there (non-fans) are tired of her diva attitude. In 93, 96, 99 and even in 2005 it was okay and funny. But since the music is not like it used to be, the people are indeed tired of "I don't acknowledge time" and so on. I watched a Dolly Parton docu a few days ago, this country lady is also a little diva, but at the same time down to earth. Her interviews were funny but still very honest. Her lyrics are deeper than a lot of people think. "Little Sparrow" is genius and heartfelt. I don't want another Ariana featuring or Taylor Swift, but yes for Dolly Parton. This woman is fantastic.

I would be a completely different person (110,511) by Edward from USA
Be careful, Zachariah is a mouth shutter, he shuts people's mouth. Mariah couldn't keep singing "SS" because Kehlani and Shenseea weren't there to support her or maybe the song is very difficult to sing. There's also a possibility that Mariah couldn't hear herself. This is what I think is happening though: Mariah started defrosting too early this year.

Doja Cat (110,510) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Agree. I heard of Kehlani by name but can't name a single song. I didn't know the other artist. I don't know why Mariah doesn't call her famous friends for collaborations because we know they pull through when she asks. Look at how many times Ariana came to support her. I was excited about the roll out of the era when TDang teasers started but I don't know what's the plan forward, are we getting a SS music video? Is that dead on arrival? She made 2 collaboration mistakes. Why get Mr Beast to feature in a video when it wasn't part of his contract to promote the song and why have Kehlani on a song where she refused to be featured as a main artist so that it doesn't show up on her Spotify page. She needs to be smarter with who she collaborates with. Heck even Taylor Swift roped in Sabrina Carpenter who's currently super popular eventhough Taylor doesn't need the added advantage.

2013 Mariah (110,509) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I agree about the 2013 fashion. Her looks were on point. The American Idol era had her taking risks. Her hair and glam was on point. Her recent looks don't do justice to how incredible she looks now. The only recent ensemble I really liked was the gold moment at the BETs performance. She needs a new team of stylist and publicist and especially a social media team. Her social media needs some serious work.

I would be a completely different person (110,508) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I still remember whether in 1995 or 1996 during an international interview, Mariah said that if she didn't have the voice she would be a completely different person. So I guess the Mariah now that we have is the different Mariah from what she used to be. Having the voice back then helped her in building her confidence and her issues with insecurities. Now that she lost it, don't deny it guys, she is what she is now. She tried to sing Sugar Sweet acapella recently during one of that UK radio interviews and half way she realised that the voice didn't come out.

I agree with everything you've written. Hundred thumbs up for "tired of the 'diva' persona, the chest always out, talking about lighting and such, and want her to do what she does (or used to do) best, which is sing. There lies the problem. She just can't sing anymore. She could get away with playing the ditzy diva role with no problem 'if' she still had the chops/voice."

I also hope the new album will surprise us. I'm really excited for the songs with the Clark Sisters (they could bring the soul back) and the Paul McCartney cover.

Taylor Swift (110,504) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I absolutely agree with "the only people who truly care about her are her children". And that's so sad. She needs at least one grown-up person who really cares and who is trying to protect. Family is the the most important, but we all know, she hasn't luck at all with them. It must not be a relative or a partner but at least one true person, an extreme good friend who is really there when needed. Every human needs such a person at least you're a not a completely eremit. I wish her to have that person, to find that person. It's more important than all the money and chart success. She broke every record, is a legend since the 90ies, she just should find real happiness beside the music business. With Bryan I often thought there is this one person. But sadly it didn't work out. But again I really hope there will be someone in the future. She so deserves it.

New single is Here For It All (110,503) by MhieMhie from Vietnam
Based on the lyrics from the snippet last UK preview, it can be the next single as she never previews any single unless it will be released officially. One theory too is the MV in Brazil and I think it will be audience coded MV similar to Infinity.

Mariah miming to the song then video the audience. She chose Brazil as they have undying love for her and are always Here For It All.

Doja Cat (110,502) by Giovanni from USA
This is why if Mariah wants to stay relevant she needs to one make sure her music is good and second collaborate with current artists like Doja Cat or Bruno Mars. A lot of people don't know who Kehlani or Shenseea is, I never heard of either them until "Sugar sweet" was released. I'm glad she did a song with Anderson .Paak but we really need a collab with a known female artist.

2013 Mariah (110,501) by Giovanni from USA
I don't know about ya'll but I miss 2013 Mariah. She looked so young and fresh and her ensembles were on point. She needs to go back with stylist Johnny Wujek because Dior Sovoa is not it, he needs to be fired asap. Johnny actually knows how to dress a woman. I also loved the short milf cut she had when she performed at that charity concert in NY when she was wearing that sling for her arm. Never been a fan of the long hair. Am I being silly or do some of ya'll agree? I'm curious what Mimi L has to say.

Do you all think? (110,500) by Dave from USA
Yes, I think it's too late. For the starting rollout, it seemed exciting and promising. Not really sure why she went across the pond so quick with a media blitz and neglected the U.S. markets. I really thought TD would take off in some capacity, but even with a fire song/video, nothing came of it. SS was worse. They could have left that off completely. I really think people are just tired of the "diva" persona, the chest always out, talking about lighting and such, and want her to do what she does (or used to do) best, which is sing. There lies the problem. She just can't sing anymore. She could get away with playing the ditzy diva role with no problem "if" she still had the chops/voice. It's so sad to see her voice deteriorate even further. I really want to be wrong and have the album completely explode like TEOM, but reality just keeps kicking in.

It's too late. The media would run with a negative story that Mariah Carey pushes back her album. I say just do something marketing wise with the third single that incorporates a hot video, guest feature and an end of summer ad campaign that makes people book that last summer trip to the beach. Supposedly, MC is getting ready to film a music video in Brazil this weekend with the Brazilian Lambs.

Doja Cat (110,498) by Bobby A from United States
I told you. I heard the rumblings on X that Doja Cat was releasing a new album. These record labels are not playing this August, September, and October releasing new music from their biggest artists. Doja Cat and Taylor Swift are huge streaming artists. They want a piece of the cake that Morgan Wallen and Kendrick Lamar bit off this year. MC should have been ready to drop her album in April instead of September. Oh well, this rollout has had some positives and negatives. I wish Here For It All had a video and song like Papa Don't Preach that had Madonna's True Blue's on everybody's lips and minds the summer of 1986. What a great album summer rollout.

Let's hope her U.S. interviews are better and full of energy. Overall, she is loved by the U.S. news media and daytime talk shows. Jennifer Hudson would be a great first interview after Labor Day and a SNL performance on October 4th.
