Missing studio pics solved (107,999) by Shezz from Pk
So that entire bathroom floor 2.0 episode was just over Taylor using a hand written polaroid for her album cover then basically? Nothing else on the 1989 album was plausibly Mariah's idea (one song title from an old Mariah album is nothing to alarm the village elders about - in my opinion).

You're spot on, also why would Mariah join RocNation if she had problems with Beyoncé? We know people are put in tje "I don't know her" bowl as soon as Mariah doesn't like them.

See this is more of what I can believe more than the post that came after you regarding a full on T Swift theft moment. I don't think Taylor Swift had any plans of stealing song concepts from Mariah. If it's similar visual I get it but I don't think Mariah would ever use MC 1989 like TS used TS 1989 on her cover since MC doesn't acknowledge time hahah but it could be she just wrote "MC Demo" and used Polaroids and has nothing to do with actual musical direction of the song. I also remember the vault controversy that came up so your theory kinda lines up. Also stated in the other post is SIO being a similar song to Mariah's song - they couldn't be farther apart - MC is a beat heavy RnB song about a cheating lover, T Swift's is a full pop song talking about what people think she's like. I am no Swiftie but in 2014 Mariah would be the farthest thing from a completion to Mariah for her to try to create comparisons, they don't even have a single song that sounds alike but there are other common titles that weren't single just like many other artists might have common singles.

Randy, your post brought three questions to my mind. First question, when was MC's last tour that she did not use any backing tracks? Was it the Daydream tour or The Butterfly tour? Second question, what would be the repercussions of MC sitting down with Oprah or Gayle King and telling the world about the deterioation of her voice? Third question, could the music industry and network television help MC's career in 2025 by recognizing her accommplishments and career defining moments with some type of television special celebrating MC? Final question, could Jimmy Iovine or Ryan Seacrest help restore MC's career to a Daydream or Butterfly level? Tommy, Benny, and L.A. helped propel MC's career to higher levels. She needs a strong innovative business man in 2025.

But. Taylor Swift's late October 2014 roll out of "1989" fits even better as to where Mariah's album concept, title and visuals actually went. She even has song title identical to MC from TEOM i.e. "Shake It Off".

So we deduce that Mariah Carey - who wrote her SIO almost a decade prior - when Swift was an unknown - would have come up as topic during production by her team or Taylor herself, because songs don't write, record or produce themselves ( well, now AI kinda does) and their chosen titles hold significance.

There would also follow a natural comparison to both songs and artists as it got single-treatment by the general population - which was no coincidence and probably part of the PR strategy from get. If MC had made a bigger deal about the whole thing, Taylor Swift's team would have made Mariah look like the one coming for her because she "felt threatened" by a younger female non-vocalist. It remembers me to someone MC infamously "doesn't know", who has subsequently been invited to perform with Taylor on tour to pay homage to her as the biggest singing inspiration from her childhood. As Aretha Franklin said: "Gowns, gowns, beautiful gowns'". This was all designed to bait Mariah.

Mariah was teasing us for a hot minute about her orginal late 1980's demos shortly after she exposed the creative thievery in 2015. It was very old school the buzz that was created and started building from short clips and not knowing if it was her or someone who just happened to still have one of the debut demos. I guess we'll never know.

So, plenty of people in the industry have since been able to put two and two together as well as some of us lambs. Like Mariah told LA Times, it would be to big a scandal to have revealed all that when it happened a decade ago. MC is a consummate professional sweetheart and her pokerface is immaculate. You won't catch her slipping. She learned from "Glitter" that the industry doesn't care if you steal from other artists - if anything, you get rewarded. Taylor got 10 Grammy nominations off of the stolen "1989" pilfering of Mariah Carey's IP. She won 3, including AOTY. Yeah.

If I had to pick between Beyoncé or "1989" the latter

What could Beyonce have possibly stolen from Mariah though? Doing a visual album? 15 music videos? She was already in her "mediocre and barely any videos" era she sure as hell did not have 15 planned for Miamtec (hopefully). Something doesn't add up there. Plus we know if you do Mariah wrong you don't exist for her. And Beyonce and her kids came to Mariah's Christmas concert, took pictures backstage, they hung out at the Grammy party with videos of them meeting each other very warmly. The only thing could have been the idea for a surprise release. Which would never have worked for her.

The album concept that was stolen was for the "The Demo" album. Look it up on Google. The album cover would be a polaroid photo of early Mariah in the 80's. Curly hair. The writing on the album cover and back would just using black pen. All the songs would be Mariah's songs from the demo. Mariah claimed that one singer stole the visual concept using polaroid photos and using the 80's year on the album title too and that album was released at the end of 2014. Not Beyonce. So Mariah scrapped the demo album and decided to release No 1's to Infinity in early 2015.

Yeah, Carlos. I remember Mariah first talking about a contemporary artist stealing her album concept down to the visuals in this L.A. Times article from 2015.

That puts the time where the actual interview was conducted several weeks or even a couple of months before being published on May 4th 2015 (around March). Mariah also dated the Thieving event in question, 2 months prior to the sit-down just like you said, Carlos. That tracks perfectly with Beyoncé album released on December 13th 2014.

Mariah was still signed to Island Def Jam in 2015 and a certain Mr Carter was the president of the label until just 2009. He would have still maintained professional as well as personal relationship with many of the people with access to Mariah (and Mariah herself) in the company much like Tommy had connections to Columbia Pictures through his Sony presidency, during the production of "Glitter".

There were also so many incessant red herrings in every media, blogs and forums about Mariah releasing a surprise album a lá Beyoncé, all through out 2015 - before she even mentioned her album sabotage. Damage control and preemptive deflection from the other artist's camp most probably. A certain subsection with online presence were hating on Mariah, hard, all up in the comment sections, calling her jealous of Beyoncé and all manner of attributes more fitting their own queen. These real world scenarios only make sense in this context.

This is why we we are sometimes robbed of nice things. It's why I don't mind when Mariah clams up, plays up her diva act or is vague. Her creativity always gets taken advantage of by collaborators, industry rivals and even friends. I guess it's a compliment that so many see her as the one to beat even now when they try and relegate her to being nothing but a Christmas legacy act. My 2025¢.

Let me hop on in here for a minute. MC doesn't need to make a last album or stop touring. She needs to refashion her songs to unplugged versions with current everyday vocal ability. And record in current everyday vocal ability. You know, like she did with the three new tracks on #1s in 1998.

You are right but The difference is that Mariah is a writer, creator and a composer as well unlike Cher and she still has some music in her even if her voice can no longer support her. And I think it'd be amazing to hear what she can still create. Touring yes I'd agree one hundred percent, she needs to stop like yesterday.

I know you didn't mention Mariah Edward, but it just felt like the natural progression for this topic. One more album then she can hang up her earpiece.

I just saw that Cher is releasing her last album. She says there comes a time when the voice of no longer fit for singing, my voice is not the same. And she's trying to record the album as quickly as possible. I thought this was very honest of Cher to admit almost similar to Jon Bon Jovi admitting his voice isn't the same. It takes a strong person to admit something that is your trademark and what [you're] known for. Good luck to Cher.

Did anyone else noticed last year, we became like family to each other? We showed more love and support to each other than in 2023 and 2022. Maybe it is just me. I read so many celebratory and love posts last year from all of us. Let's keep it going in 2025 to support each other around the world, those in L.A. and of course MC. I listen to Coast To Coast with George Noory at night and it just has me thinking more about what is happening everywhere in our world.

California fires (107,976) by Norman from USA
Yup. It's been craziness over here. My sister and mom had just moved to LA from Minnesota in October and we found them a nice duplex rental in Altadena in December. Well, that's where the Eaton fire is, and this past Wednesday everything they owned burned down with the house. It was wild. They came to stay with me for a couple of days because they were going to have power outages in the area - that was Tuesday night. By Wednesday morning it was all gone. It's been difficult to process and know how to feel.

The main reason my sister moved back with my mom is because my mom has dementia, and most of our family is here in LA. Moving back was seen as good because we'd get to share in her day-to-day care, you know? Now everything's gone. And there are thousands of people without a home. We're blessed that they're still alive and that they could stay with me. A lot of people weren't that fortunate.

Please keep the people of LA in your thoughts. Thank you.

MC sold her Bel Air mansion with Nick in 2015. Her Calabasas chateau has been on and off the market since 2020. I don't know its current status in 2025. Homes in Calabasas have been affected by the Kenneth fire. It is just horrible what has happened to so many people in L.A. My heart goes out to everyone.
