LadBaby? (101,915) by Steven Berning from USA
Can someone please help explain LadBaby to me? I'm a citizen of the U.S., I get that there is a cultural difference to the UK. Even so, we have our novelty acts. We have our nerdy white boys who somehow have a huge hit or two. Vanilla Ice, Marky Marky and the Funk Bunch. However, our nerdy white boy novelty acts last for one or two songs, one or two albums, one or two years. Not, five years? How is LadBaby about to have the coveted Christmas #1 for a fifth year in a row? I've watched a few videos. What am I missing? I don't find them to be particularly funny, particularly good looking, nor particularly talented. Sausage rolls? Please, what am I missing? Educate me.

Sometimes the voice gets in the way of the music (101,913) by Tameka walker from United states
That would be awesome. Also to Mariah is [still] breaking records her she my is number one for a 10h week and with that it makes her third act to have 3 songs in the double digits. [One Sweet Day] 16 weeks. [We Belong Together] 14 weeks and now [All I Want for Christmas is You] 10 weeks. Plus the first woman to have this feat in the music industry. [She] is 52 and still breaking records. People can say what they want and all and yes I know that she is having trouble with her voice but you gotta admit Mariah is often imitated never duplicated. Mariah I love you

Article: Mariah Carey scores milestone 10th week at No. 1 (101,912) by Edward from USA
What a feast. If AIWFCIY keeps topping the charts for at least 3 weeks for the next 3 years, she'll by herself this time would reclaim the title as "The Artist with the Longest #1 Song" on "Billboard Hot 100" by 2025 with 20 weeks at the top. The OSD record kind of hurt when it was broken.

I was just wondering if bi polar medication could have any effect on vocal cords? I'm sure it's like an anti depressant, that screws with your entire body. I'm sure the alcohol doesn't help, but medication changes everything. I should know.

Sometimes the voice gets in the way of the music (101,902) by jaker20 from US
It is not a coincidence that this chapter of her career is turning out to be another huge one, and she's just getting started. Every year, the song gets bigger and bigger.

It's because when you strip out the melisma and all that vocal acrobatics that many lambs adore, but many in the public actually despise, the true magic is revealed: the music.

We get to focus on the music. It's always been about the music and enjoying everything about it, I can go to a Mariah show, and enjoy just that, in whatever form Mariah's voice is in, does not make her any less than, or enjoy the show any less.

AIWFIY is on its path for Song of the Decade.

Whoopi Goldberg mocks Mariah (101,900) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yes, that title suits her better. Don''t get me wrong, I love "AIWFIY" and her Christmas songs. But what really made her outstanding are songs like "Vision of love", "Everything fades away", "Without you", of course the whole Emotions, Daydream and Butterfly album. Plus debut and Music Box. The voice on the first ten years, the lyrics, the emotion makes her the "Queen of Music" forever. There will never be someone like Mariah.

Whoopi Goldberg mocks Mariah (101,899) by Randy from USA
I tend to agree. I don't want Mariah's legacy to be Christmas. I know I'm hard on her live performances but words can express what her music means to me. Through The Rain got me up and to work for years when I was stressed. Right to Dream was my go to when I was drunk and depressed. Outside is my being gay and ostracized in the 90s anthem. Close My Eyes is my PTSD song from being born with all the antics that come from a 15 year old mother and a 21 year old father. All I Want For Christmas is nice. But it's hardly anywhere on the soundtrack of my life. I actually listen to O Holy Night and Oh Santa more. Not because I don't like AIWFCIY, but because I know if I leave the house any time after thanksgiving, I'll hear it.

Darlene Love can have that poor and shitty "Queen of Christmas" title. I've always tought Mariah was much more that to anyone. She is the "Queen of Music". Nothing less.

Whoopi Goldberg mocks Mariah (101,896) by MC1989 from Spain
Amen. By the way, now that you said that these days every artist wants to have a Christmas album and be as great as hers, I've just watched Kelly Clarkson's performance of "Santa Can you Hear Me" and am I the only one who clearly sees it's a copy of AIWFCIY? She has a phenomenal voice and she seems to be a very nice person, I have nothing against her. But the melody of the song, the bridge and the whole vibe is so AIWFCIY that it bothers me that only a few artists nowadays admit they are inspired by Mariah or have the guts to credit her because she's not trendy anymore. I think something happened between Kelly and Mariah because a few years ago she kept referencing Mariah a lot and she even seemed to be a "lamb" and in the last years, when she talks about her biggest inspirations she names Whitney and others but no reference to Mariah. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they choosed Jennifer Hudson instead of her to do Oh Santa. I remember that back then there was a strong rumour that the song was going to feature Ariana and Kelly. I don't know. Maybe there's nothing wrong between them and it's just me supposing things.

Whoopi Goldberg mocks Mariah (101,895) by BFF from United States
Darlene can call us back when she has a #1 Christmas single that she herself wrote and two best-selling Christmas albums full of great, self-penned originals and reinterpretations of classics. I love Darlene's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)", but no one can deny the staying power of Mariah's "All I Want". Love should have left it alone after they interacted with one another on social media; this segment on "The View" was really petty and unnecessary.

The conscious effort to shade Mariah was thick in the air in that studio you could literally cut through it with a knife. Too [bad] Mariah is already considered "The Queen of Christmas" by this [generation] amongst many other titles – yes Whoopi she can and does have it all. Her [song] "All I want For Christmas is You" [trumps] all others I dare say past, present and future. It is that [good] a song, and isn't the album that song is from "Merry Christmas" the biggest selling Christmas album of all time? That is what qualifies her as the Queen of Christmas, she stays winning. Now everyone wants to have a magical Christmas song and album like she does. Often imitated, never duplicated.

So nice to see footage from the Charmbracelet world tour. Through the Rain continues to grow on me this many years later. The message and lyrics are beautiful, and the fact that the song is somewhat underrated somehow make them even more so.

Whoopi Goldberg mocks Mariah (101,892) by MC1989 from Spain
So Darlene Love went to The View and after her performance they coronated her as The Queen Of Christmas and they talked about Mariah without mentioning her. I didn't like Darlene's attitude, especially since she came to terms with Mariah, and they both praised each other on Twitter a few days ago, and Darlene even proposed to Mariah if they could record the song in a diet for 2023. Mariah was very sweet to her, talking about how her rendition of Christmas Baby Please Come Home was an homage to Darlene's version of the song. And I also notice that Whoopi was kinda laughing at Mariah, and it's not the first time she does it. Here's the full video.
