Check this out. It's pretty much an audio documentary on Butterfly and it lasts a couple of hours.

Re: Another taste of honey (101,266) (101,268) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Continuing from my last post, I wish for Mariah magnum opus album "Butterfly" that we would have a whole documentary attached to it like making of the album, the thought process, the song inspirations, the video concepts. I know she has said details in previous interviews and her book but it'd be nice to have it all in 1 documentary. Or another thing she could have done is have a breakdown of all her videos from the album as almost all the videos from this album was really conceptual with a lot of thought into it (aka not just Mariah touching herself) so I would have loved her do a whole documentary on that.

Another taste of honey (101,266) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Just got back from watching the BTS. Firstly Mariah looks stunning but girl what on earth? It was 5 mins long only after all that hype? Honey is easily one of her best videos (Breakdown is #1 though) and it's iconic. There's so much that goes on in the video and the remix video too I was thinking we'd get a scene by scene breakdown and some details behind the looks, the scenes, what does "D.U.N.C.E." stand for. It was only 5 mins long and that includes cutaways to the music video and also a story about how one of the crew got into an accident? Like I understand it's serious and would have made sense in a longer documentary to share but in 5 mins a whole minute was dedicated to that. Anyways. Ok so on another tangent - we all know/suspect that "Honey" is innuendo for bodily fluids but I saw this theory yesterday that the scene where Mariah was dancing with the sailors (or "sea men") was an innuendo of semen around an egg I was dead lol. Also the light fixture behind them was a giant egg shaped one. I wanted tea on that. I don't know if this was talked about when "Honey" originally came out because I was a baby but I legit can't look at the video the same lol. If that was truly the intention then Mariah is a genius.

Re: Breakdown rediscovered (101,264) (101,265) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
Yes I agree. Breakdown should be released as single, right after My All. Mariah should perform Breakdown at:
1. Soul Train Lady Of Soul Awards, instead of performing that My All/Stay Awhile. My All was already number one at that time so no point of performing that song. Such a waste, in my opinion.
2. Video Music Awards, the one where she attended and presented with the late Whitney. Imagine Mariah wearing the cowboy hat and black leather pants as in the video for the performance. Or she can just wear the sexy pole dancer black outfit. Whatever she likes.

Those two performances from two major awards show should guarantee a hit song for Breakdown.

Re: Breakdown rediscovered (101,261) (101,264) by Bill from the UK
I think Breakdown will go down in history as one of the biggest regrets of Mariah's career. The song was ground breaking at the time, the video was brilliant, and nothing like it had come before it. I genuinely believe it would have been a #1 in the US if it had been given its shot. Mariah would have got behind it and promoted the hell out of it. Glad you're seeing it in a new light now Terna. As I live through different experiences so many Mariah songs end up meaning more, Breakdown no exception.

Re: My All (101,258) (101,263) by Anonymous from United States
Agreed. I remember listening to most of those #1 songs from 1998 over and over and over. I know R. Kelly is an unsavory character, but I quite liked that Celine/R. Kelly duet. My grandma really liked Celine Dion, so thinking of that song reminds me of her. "The Boy Is Mine" was also a huge favorite. And that song "Too Close" was super catchy but incredibly inappropriate for me to be listening to when I was 10 lol.

Re: If Butterfly single was released (101,240) (101,262) by Victoria from USA
I don't think it would've been number 1. I know it's horrible to say, but it's not one of my favorites. Breakdown though.

Re: Breakdown rediscovered (101,249) (101,261) by Victoria from USA
It would've been another #1, if it was released as an actual single. The video was number 1 on TRL, a lot.

Just wow, even after a thousand time listening. Lol. From the first second to the end, a true masterpiece. The end of the song is "giving me life".

I really enjoyed to read the link with the charts from 97. Good music, I could listen to all the songs today with a smile. I'm so happy to have witnessed the 90ies music. But I can't believe it's been 25 years since Butterfly was released. I remember it, as it was yesterday. I love the two new remixes, it takes me back to a better time. Almost like the time machine from "Doc Brown". The live versions of "Butterfly" and "My All" are very emotional and so good, although well-known by the lambily. Butterfly is the perfect album for autumn. Thanks to Mariah for giving us the anniversary edition for Butterfly. It's good for the soul.

Honey: The Remixes (101,257) by Bill from the UK
The double LP of Honey is available to pre-order from Urban Outfitters on honey coloured vinyl (exclusive). It contains the same tracks as the MC30 EP and sadly, not the new Morales remix.

Re: If Butterfly single was released (101,240) (101,254) by enwar00 from usa
In 1997 the Hot 100 was based off of airplay and sales. Butterfly reached #16 on the airplay chart. To compare, My All and Thank God I Found You both reached #15 in airplay, so very very similar, and both made it to #1 on the Hot 100 because of their strong sales. Because of that I think Butterfly had a good chance of reaching #1 if released commercially. Even if just for one week, like how Carrie Underwood interrupted We Belong Together at #1 (I'm still annoyed by that ).

My All (101,253) by Bobby A from United States
I listened to Butterfly last night. Mariah's tone on the Butterfly album is mesmerizing and captivating. My All came on and for the life of me I can't remember what song caused My All to only spend one week at number one. Does anyone know what song knocked My All out of the number one spot? If I am not mistaken, My All had a slow ride in the top ten before it rose to number one. By the way, this has been the best week ever on the board in a long time reminiscing about the Butterfly album. Here's to the new era that officially began on 09/16/2022. Got to capture the pre-era moments too.

She said during [...] with [Oprah] back in 2008 that she knew how to lose weight quickly, quote "it's not that deep" or whatever.

Not exactly news, she talked about it in her book and I think some of the songs are on YouTube? I'm probably wrong on the last one. It's called Someone's Ugly Daughter.

Mariah Mariah Mariah (101,250) by Knoellexo from United States
Hey guys, long time lurker and I finally thought I would start sharing my opinions. First thing as a viewer of this board I'm kind of surprised how negative it sometimes is, just a thought

Second Mariah definitely has a lot of things coming and I think really soon. I think this year for Christmas it may be more laid-back and I think she's going to focus more on other projects.

Last but not least, Mariah's weight. How was she able to get thin so quickly? It was just at the BET Awards where I thought she looked quite curvy but now it's like she lost at least 60 pounds. It's crazy how fast she can gain and lose weight in a matter of months. Did anyone have any idea of how she does it> Her losing the weight all sell to me is the biggest sign that she has a project on the way. On Mariah skinny Mariah is working. Honestly I'd love to know the secret myself lol.

Breakdown rediscovered (101,249) by Terna from Nigeria
I liked this song, played it sometimes but never really got its vibe, maybe I was too young to understand grown folk issues and breakups. However, I have been playing the song non stop as I rediscovered it with fresh "grown ears" so to speak, haha and play it quite often now. It never was a song I gravitated towards until quite recently (2021). The [emotion] she sings with is so real, that desperation and frustration one feels, conveyed perfectly through the [ad-libs] towards the end of the song. Wow Mariah, thank you for this song.

Re: If Butterfly single was released (101,240) (101,248) by Terna from Nigeria
"Butterfly", to me, does not come across as [single material], it is a very quality song, a cut above most of her [ballads] and if I'm being honest almost too good to be a single release, but I am glad she gave it a video treatment though. That song is really special and too personal for radio, the type deep album cut of a gem you discover on your own that would make the album worth the purchase, and let us also be real "Candle in the Wind" was not gonna be unseated from that space. The whole world mourned Lady Diana for months and honestly, the rest of that ugly year 1997.

Rock album (101,247) by Tameka walker from United states
I was just on reading something that said that she recorded a rock album in 1995 but her record label didn't want to release it. They thought it would ruin her image. She did it because she was in the relationship with Tommy and she was angry and needed a release. She was angry and needed to release that so she secretly recorded a rock album. I think it would be interesting to hear.
