Re: Mariah and BTS (99,005) (99,008) by Bobby A from United States
So is the special only 18 minutes long?

I hope she fully signs to RCA (99,007) by T from USA
When you google the CEO, president and head of A&R they are all real record people. And pioneers of getting hip hop to the mainstream back in the day. They had major success with Alicia Keys among others and are currently getting H.E.R. over big time. This way she could still be linked with Sony for her back catalogue but with 52 Grammy nominations this year I think it's the way to go. Plus Khalid and Kirk are both there too.

Joy to the world (Celebration Remix) (99,006) by MusicfanJ from Germany
One of her best remixes. And we all know she has many. I also love the video, so much fun. C&C remixes were all so good.

Mariah and BTS (99,005) by T from USA
There was rumours that a Christmas song with these artists was in the works. Now it appears it didn't happen and BTS is doing it anyway. I wonder if the Christmas special on Apple was cut short because she didn't agree to do the single? Last year she had a song with Ariana Grande and the special was given so much money. This year the excuse was Covid restrictions but I feel last year was way more restrictive. I think she doesn't want to play the corporate game anymore. And that may cost her some future success.

Ok, who should play all the main characters?

But still we have the originals, I wouldn't give it too much thought, she's the artist if she want to do these things it's up to her.

Re: Baby Please Come Home (98,999) (99,002) by T from USA
In some of the new interviews she says she would like to redo a lot of her stuff. Possibly the whole Christmas album will be done over in her image. She's done like twelve interviews, imagine she put this much effort when a brand new piece of work comes out like Caution? It would have been heard by so many more people.

I always thought a biopic should have been in a place.

Aww I hope you get in the Christmas mood soon. I've put my tree up early this year and emerging myself in Christmas Mariah.

Re: Baby Please Come Home (98,991) (98,999) by Jamie from UK
I just see it as she wanted to make a different version for the Christmas special, we still have the original and now we get another version too. As for getting rid of Walter he would still remain on the original credits for production whether she did a new version or not. The song isn't hers anyway so doubt don't Sony would get much money off her royalties.

I think it's great she's inspired to do new things and change things up for new projects. It shows she still cares and is interested rather than just putting out something that's been the same for 20+ years. As an artist your bound to see floors in past work and want to change it, it's not like she said she hates the whole Merry Christmas album she probably would just have liked the arrangement different for that one song.

Re: Baby Please Come Home (98,997) (98,998) by Bill from the UK
Yep. Everything on the original Merry Christmas album is untouchable. The re-recordings of AIWFCIY, the "live" version of O Holy Night, the hip hop Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town, the new CBPCH all pale by comparison. It's like that dreadful re-recording of Hero she did in support of The Ballads album. What was she thinking? Leave the past in the past and move forward.

I totally agree. To me it's a sacrilege.

Taylor is not for everyone and I get that. But I love her catalogue. This new version of Red is actually a re-recording of her original album. She had a huge legal battle with her old label and is in the process of recording all her old albums under her ownership. Ed has two collabs on this new version of Red: "Everything Has Changed" and "Run". You might enjoy those. Ed and Taylor are close friends.

I love Mariah so much, I really do. But her re-recording these masterpieces isn't as pleasant to the ear as the original. I love Mariah's Magical Christmas but I sat there scratching my head at those new versions.

I'm also enjoying Ed Sheeran's "=", it was an album I waited for patiently, but this "Red" album I didn't know anything about. I've never been a fan of Taylor's, but according to some extensive reviews on Amazon, the album is her best so far. I'll give it a listen. The music scene is kind of dire these days.

Re: Adele (98,982) (98,993) by B from USA
Adele reminds me of Celine Dion. In my opinion, 30 is more comparable to Let's Talk About Love which also lacks cohesion. Both contain two or three massive hits surrounded by filler. I'm obsessed with To Be Loved. It reminds me of a classic Carey ballad.

Grammy snub in Spoken Word Album Category (98,992) by Chicago Lamb from USA
The Scammies strike again. Unbelievable. I've listened to the TMOMC audio book 3-4 times already. This particular snub in the Spoken Word Album Category is just abhorrent.

Baby Please Come Home (98,991) by T from USA
In Mariah's recent interviews she says how she doesn't care for the original CBPCH. She made a new one with a new arrangement that will replace the original. I guess this is her way of finally erasing Walter and Sony from her catalog and sticking them by not having them get anymore coins by promoting it. It's a valuable song in her catalogue so I see why she wants to keep it going but if only she would honour the beautiful original version.

Re: St John The Devine (98,985) (98,990) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"Remembering how natural she used to be, both vocally and in herself." Absolutely, that's the Mariah you could only love. Nobody could compare with her at that time. I will listen to the concert too. What a night at that church in NY. I miss the natural, carefree Mariah. Luckily we can watch it over and over again. Honestly I'm not in a Christmas mood right now (not because it's early, but because of the difficult time) but when I see Mariah at St. John The Devine, it does something to the heart. It's pure joy for the eyes and ears. MC at her best.

Re: Adele (98,975) (98,989) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I think your review is spot on Edward. I got the album for my Mom as an early Christmas present and for me it felt very disjointed and discombobulated. Mom also prefers her other albums over 30. While we wait for Mariah's new Christmas special to drop, "Red" and "=" are the albums I've been playing over Adele. Not shade 30 just isn't my thing.

Ok. Thank you. Another great concert where she sang effortlessly and at ease was MTV's Shining Through The Rain. That concert was MC at her best.

St John The Devine (98,985) by Jamie from UK
Just watching the concert and remembering how natural she used to be, both vocally and in herself. I feel now she gets caught up in how she looks and doesn't let herself go on stage as much.

Re: Adele (98,982) (98,984) by Bill from the UK
I meant from a publicity/popularity standpoint. Daydream was Mariah's popularity and some would say, vocal peak. All I was saying was let her ride the crest of that wave because, as we all know, nothing lasts forever.
