Forbes fail (99,420)
by Brad from USA
| |
|
|
Why is Forbes writing about AIWFCIY dropping off the charts after Christmas? That ain't news. The other Christmas tunes do the exact same thing. Useless reporting. I used to love to go to the library and read that magazine when I was a teenager (yes I'm super old) but times have changed if this is what they are writing about.

I thougt exactly the same. A little bit strange. Christmas is over. The commercial has a really bad timing. I hope we will hear something new without a Christmas theme next time.

It is. I can't wait so we all could read it here on the messageboard. Maybe little Mariah comes with outfit changes. If it came with cardboard wigs and weaves, I would die. She should cancel the new album, this news is to die for. A Christmas book on January, Genius! If by any chance Roc and Roe and Mary Ann Tatum's son happen to appear on the book, now that would be so refreshing and new. Wait a minute, if little Mariah is on high heels on the book, the LGBTQ+ community would definitely add MC at the end of their acronym. The way things are looking, soon the whole alphabet will be on it anyway.

I found it quite classic. I mean every year you always hear non lambs saying Christmas is over, Mariah is going back in hiding and then here she is clapping back still holding the #1 spot on Billboard with a new pre-order Christmas book after the new year. Haha.

The Christmas Princess (99,411)
by Brad from USA
| |

Who announces the future release of a children's fairytale book about Christmas during the second week of January? The lawd knows I support my MC to the ends of the Earth but this seems a pretty big timing fail on someone's part. Not to mention, that cover is all troll and not cute at all. They could have had a better illustration. Honestly. I just don't get it. Another project that seems destined to go by the wayside.

My All featuring Khalid? (99,410)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
|
|
Fans have been speculating that Brandy would be the featured singer for either Babydoll or The Roof. But I always wondering whether Khalid would be the one for My All, considering the song they did (Fall In Love At Christmas) is very melodically similar to My All and with all the acoustic spanish guitar type of song.

Steven Canals is the show's co creator and producer and he is also a lamb. I do recall him tweeting Mariah about it. I think Mimi has tweeted about it as well.

Anytime You Need a Friend in Pose (99,408)
by MC1989 from Spain

Any Pose fans in here? Yesterday I saw the episode from the last season where Blanca leads Pray Tell to rehab, and suddenly AYNAF comes in, and they play almost the whole song, whistle include, while Blanca drives in her car. In the second season, where Blanca's children leave the house, they played "Love takes time". I think this is a great homage to Maria's legacy, and I hope she sees it.

I agree this rumoured duet would have been a number one at the time. However it would have also secured Mariah in the Celine Dion realm of Adult Contemporary. It would be more of the Grandma approved Music Box vibe and she wouldn't have been able to recover. It might as well be a Mariah, Michael and Kenny G love song. We'd be listening to it in elevators and the doctors office.

Where did you hear that Mariah and Michael were going to duet I'll Be There for Emotions? First I've heard of that. Not sure that is true.
The I'll Be There lore is that Mariah originally wanted to sing Vanishing, but MTV insisted on a cover song, as every artist on Unplugged usually does that. In a last minute decision they all decided on I'll Be There and rehearsed it only moments before the show started filming. It was only due to the heavy rotation MTV gave the programme, and how quickly radio picked up on the song, that it then became a single and the EP released shortly afterwards.

Mariah during that time was unstoppable. So I believe the duet with Michael Bolton would have been a number one too. Good old days.

Honestly, I think Mariah and Michael Bolton's voices, especially at that time, really worked well and won't mind another Pop Ballad duet something original this time. It's time for Mariah to sing and collaborate with [singers], tangible singers who like her, have that definitive gift of singing, that sets them apart from the fray. Brandy is definitely a step in the right direction, and I was ecstatic to find out about the Clark Sisters too as another potential collaboration.

What if during MTV Unplugged, instead of doing I'll Be There with Trey, Mariah invited Michael Bolton to sing We're Not Making Love Anymore. Will the song reach number one like I'll Be There? Michael at the time was also under Columbia and they were supposed to do a duet for that song for Mariah's Emotions album but we all know that didn't happen.

Babydoll (99,401)
by Bobby A from United States
| |

Brandy retweeted another Lamb's tweet of "It's 2:11." If it is true that she recorded Babydoll with MC, then it is going to take Babydoll to a whole different level. I didn't think it was The Roof because the song is too personal to MC.

Re: Blending eras (99,398) (99,400)
by Bill from the UK

CB is a strange fish. It was the first Mariah album I was indifferent about. Like I wasn't overwhelmed like I was with Daydream and Butterfly, neither was I underwhelmed like I was with MCIIY and Memoirs. I was just, whelmed. If that exists. I remember, on first listen, getting more and more frustrated with the whispering as the album progressed, especially by the 32nd chorus of Lullaby. Nowadays, I see it for what it is, which was quite rightly put earlier as a premonition of what TEOM would be. A subtle nudge towards it, to test the water. It's definitely a "mood" album, where I have to be feeling a particular way, or the air feel a certain way, for me to book out the afternoon to listen to it (it's a long arse album as well), but when I do I always enjoy it now. Except Boy of course.

I can actually see what you mean blending Charmbraclet [sic]/TEOM. "Old school R&B and neo-soul vibe she perfected for Mimi with live instruments, etc. It's like It's Like That was a better Boy, Shake It Off was a better The One, Fly Like A Bird was a better My Saving Grace." It's like she was shy testing the neo-soul old school R&B, so she literally whispered it. On TEOM she was confident in the sound and ripped the damned roof off to the heavens.
Glitter and Charmbraclet [sic] are day and night. It's so weird to think it was released in late 2002. Much like E=MC2 to MOAIA; they seem like they were recorded years or a decade apart. She went from bold colours and bold strong vocals to neutral tones and whispery raw vocals. Although Charmbraclet [sic] is so close and tender to my heart musically and life experience, the album artwork and the aesthetic for the Charmbraclet [sic] tour are so disconnected. She should have used the artwork for Bringing on The Heartbreak as the album cover imo. The single cover art was way stronger then the actual album cover for Charmbraclet [sic].

Brandy says in the interview that Mariah invited her to sing with her. I am taking that as it will be a duet. It has to be something special with The Vocal Bible and Songbird Supreme on one track. Now if Daniel Moore III co-wrote and co-produced the track, then I will be disappointed. I just don't like his songwriting and production. I think that it is a poor imitation of Big Jim Wright.
