Hi lambs. Does anyone know where I can get the voicemails that Mariah posted on her page during the early 2000s? Especially the ones during the Glitter era. Thanks in advance.

Beyond Christmas (97,049)
by Andrew from the United Kingdom

Is anyone else completely sick of hearing about and reading about AIWFCIY? It's a bit much.
Also, if Apple wants Mariah to do another Christmas special next year she should request they put her concerts on Apple TV also. Or else go with Netflix.
MTV Unplugged Music Box @ Proctor's Theatre Daydream @ MSG Butterfly @ Hawaii Adventures of Mimi Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour Caution at Royal Albert Hall
Mariah really needs to push her back catalogue onto streaming services by using Christmas as leverage. She could license it to them for free to ensure permanent fixture. I'd have her release on concert a week into the platform to close out MC30.

Re: the last paragraph here. Did I read correctly on twitter that Taylor Swift's single was put on sale for .49c and that was how she was able to claim the top spot? I suppose if it were a tactic used by Mariah's label to nab the #1 spot for a week, we'd all be cheering. Happy 2021 everyone!

Yes, it will be a included for "Pop around the clock" which is a TV special for New Years Eve. That's such a nice surprise with the Daydream concert. I'll watch and enjoy it. I love that concert so much.

She needs to find a happy middle ground between doing the music that she loves, and a strong earworm/hook which the public will pay attention to and remember. GTFO had it a little with the "how bout you?" line all throughout, but wasn't strong enough to garner much attention. I don't listen to BTS, but I keep hearing that lyric "light it up like dynamite" in my head and I don't fully know the song lol (nicely linking to my previous post ).

Mariah Carey, BTS (I'm That Chick/Dynamite) (97,044)
by Will from England

This was brought up on Twitter a few days ago, and as far as fan made mash-ups are, this is a good one (another was Charlie Puth's Long and Someday mashed together, very well done). It would be interesting to see her collab with another international artist/group from a different background. Considering how big she is with Asian markets, and what BTS are doing, it would be an interesting experimental sound (for her) to put out, even if it is a remix of a song.

While I agree that there isn't in fact any "forces" trying to prevent her from getting another #1 (come on y'all she got a #1 last year with an old song) the thing I disagree with is when you say she isn't releasing anything worth charting. And yes of course different people like different kinds of songs so I'm not saying my opinion is the ultimate opinion, just saying I personally feel she did release a lot of really great songs in the middle but what's stopping her from burning up the charts are a mixture of a label push/backup (I'm talking deals and monetary support as in a strong budget), really poor promotion strategies (some of her songs had delayed video/remix releases and then after a soft "download my new tune" we hear nothing of it), really poor single choices and videos with no replay value (among other things). A good budget combined with a video with good replay value would do wonders (look at the AIWFCIY 2019 and OS videos). A good choice of singles and strategical promotions is mandatory. We live in a world where everyone has a nano-second memory, you have to keep reminding them (example engage tiktok influencers for the song to go viral). There's just so much she can do. And an easy one would be just to get Drake haha. I mean she definitely got Ariana for some buzz, just get Drake and seal the deal.

Mariah has been going on tour after tour. She's been doing so since 2015 when she first started her Vegas and Christmas residencies. She went on a world tour in 2016 along with Vegas. She also did a tour with Lionel Richie. Her very last Vegas run was this February and it sold at 96%. That's why they keep giving her more deals. She dropped "With You" at the AMA's and then went to tour Asia for a month before she came back to promote Caution. Then, off for her Christmas tour. Then, the Caution World Tour before heading back to her Vegas residency and then another Christmas. She signed a touring contract with Live Nation in 2018, so she'll be touring well into the 2020's after covid.

Chick album in 2021? (97,039)
by Geri551 from UK

After attracting significant buzz, it all went silent on Chick. I am assuming (well hoping) that this was because the Christmas season was approaching but I hope the project hasn't just been shelved or forgotten about.
Do you think we will be getting the Mariah version of the Chick album? It would be lunacy for her not to release this - the news that Mariah had recorded an alternative rock album attracted more interest in her music (aside from Christmas) than we've seen for a decade.
I really like the album and would love to hear Mariah's lead vocals.

"There is a conscious effort by the music industry to make sure Mariah does not tie that Beatles record for 20 Hot 100 #1 singles".
Interesting. Please cite your evidence/sources. Should you not be able to, the reasonable few on here shall be forced to conclude it's just more lambsh*t.
"If she isn't having a non-Christmas hit song it is mainly as a result of this, or she isn't looking to."
So either Mariah is being prevented from having a hit (please cite your evidence, as above) or Mariah wants her song releases to fail. The latter being obvious nonsense, shall we also conclude that you are avoiding the obvious, in that it is pretty clear why Mariah doesn't chart well with her new music: it's not worthy of charting well.
"Secondly out of all her peers Madonna, Celine, Mary J. Blige, I would take where Mariah is any day in terms of where their careers are currently. What she lacks in touring, ticket sales..."
She makes up for with a song that's dusted off every December. Are you under the impression that Mariah doesn't want to be able to sell out global tours? Who is it you think you are fooling here?
"She isn't exerting herself going on tour after tour yet smiling to the bank yearly."
Ah, okay. You think Mariah does everything for money. Funny that, because isn't the common thread on this board that Mariah only does things for love, now?
This nonsense will never end.

Merry Christmas (97,036)
by Bobby A from United States

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I pray your Christmas day is filled with love and blessings. I miss having Billy on here. The rest of the MC 30 vinyls like E=MC2, Charmbraclet, Memoirs, and MIAM will be shipped after January 22nd. I was on the Sound of Vinyl website early this morning and they listed a January 22nd availability date. I still haven't received my Merry Christmas II You vinyl that was scheduled to shipped in December. I hope that it arrives in January. Andrew, did you intercept my delivery and have it shipped to the UK? I am just wondering since you are in old Anthony's head now. Lol. Merry Christmas to you too.

I couldn't agree with you more. Making an album for Mariah will cost her more than the profit she'll make from it. She'll do it because of her love of music and probably to go on tour, but she won't be making real money. I think we'll be seeing more 10-track albums, but not as frequent.
As for this fan-paranoia thinking everybody is trying to block Mariah from breaking or tying The Beatles, of course The Beatles' fans wouldn't want her to, but then again we didn't want anybody to break her OSD record either. Mariah is not popular like that anymore, basically nobody is buying her music so she has less of a chance to accomplish that unless she comes with some great music and a hot collabo to back her up. It is as simple as that. If there were a force behind trying to stop her, AIWFCITY wouldn't have made it to #1 for three weeks after 24 years and then keep going strong again this year. Great music is great music, but since radio plays what's hot and young at the moment, Mariah not only needs great music but also a helping hand.
I do strongly believe Mariah will have a proper duet with Ariana, and they'll go to #1. The music industry as it was doesn't exist anymore and they don't have the same control they used to, not even radio. So, everything is in the hand of the general public streaming what's popular and who's hot at the moment. She's so close though, I can even salivate it.

Terna, I could not agree with you more. I have made a similar observation. They will do whatever necessary to ensure "she" does not tie that record. Even non Mariah fans will tell you the same observation. Unfortunately she has never allowed herself to be a puppet of the music industry executives (influencers and gate keepers etc) and her chart success annoys the hell out of them. This is not rocket science.

I completely agree with your assessment. Folks forget that there is a subconscious bias against older women in the music industry. Her remaining peers, Madonna/Janet/Celine all do not release hit songs anymore. And there is nothing wrong with that, they all have nothing left to prove. In 5-10 years, these current pop girls will be competing with the next generation that's replacing them. I don't pay attention to Mariah's chart success anymore (except for AIWFCIY because quite frankly, it's the gift that keeps on giving every year lol) because really, what's at the top of the charts today is not the kind of quality music Mariah makes. Yes she and her team can flaunt her 19 No.1s as she's earned them, but I care more about Mariah the artist as opposed to Mariah the business. Her last studio album Caution was fantastic. I will take great quality work over chart positions any time, because decades from now people will only remember the music, not whether it reached #1 on the charts.

Just need to add 2 things. Nobody's making any money in this climate and to be perfectly frank, artists rarely made money when it was hot. They've always made money from touring. Labels treat everything like a loan that needs to be paid back. Until it is artists don't see a cent of their money. Labels spend millions promoting artists, but nobody is selling millions anymore.
Which brings me to: Mariah isn't losing money creating albums. She gets her advance and the label eats the costs. They attach the cost to whatever she makes and keeps it. Now, artists and labels make money from ads on music videos. The label spends little on Mariah because she's a legacy artist, but they do eventually make their money back on music video ads. Artists today primarily make their money through endorsements and advertising. Mariah made $9 million last year for that UK crisp commercial.

I don't agree at all with your theory. There is a conscious effort by the music industry to make sure Mariah does not tie that Beatles record for 20 Hot 100 #1 singles, talk less of breaking it but we all know for sure she's gonna do just that. If she isn't having a non-Christmas hit song it is mainly as a result of this, or she isn't looking to. Secondly out of all her peers Madonna, Celine, Mary J. Blige, I would take where Mariah is any day in terms of where their careers are currently. What she lacks in touring, ticket sales and those deceptive bundles to sell new albums, she more than makes up for from having 19 number one singles, a massive body of work that keeps on giving and owning her own masters then there's "All I Want For Christmas is you" - she isn't exerting herself going on tour after tour yet smiling to the bank yearly.
