Re: MC diamond edition (99,016) (99,023)
by Will from England

Problem is is that in the last two years we have had two Christmas albums, one of which was already a double disc feature and that was celebrating the anniversary of the Christmas album - a worthier reason to release it, plus new songs and everything else we've asked for. Another double disc would just be redundant at this point. It's a nice idea, but not a good enough reason to release it.

Adele is doing Vega vs. a world tour because of Covid. Mimi is smart to lay low and do her Christmas routine as she has nothing new out and why take the risk and create the expense of a flop during a pandemic? Things are different now especially for an artist like Mimi.

No more Vegas for MC please. Mariah needs to go out into the world and reconnect with her fans. In Australia, South America, Canada and the UK. If she hides in Vegas she will eventually fade away in the worlds markets.

Adele Vegas residency at Caesars (99,020)

So I know that this is not an Adele board and hate bringing her up again but saw the news about her going to Vegas now and can't help to wish it was Mariah. I know, I know, she has done it before and yes I am happy for Adele and her fans but I guess I just miss seeing M. Especially her magical Christmas shows at the Beacon. I hope one day she returns there again. I don't know who represents Adele, but she certainly seems to be the new "It girl" who can do no wrong in the industry and public's eye. They are really pushing her. She has so much going on right now. Da*n COVID. We miss you M.

I don't look forward to any duets of Mariah with other artists, it always comes across as distracting. Chaka Khan gave the analogy of artists being like planets, she says they don't always have to collaborate, each is his own entity and fares better solo. This applies to Mariah too. She's said it in words, with "The meaning of Mariah Carey". Now it's time to speak through the music, which is the best way she knows how to after all. Sing from the heart like you used to, almost as if you have a point to prove, which in a way you do - the younger generation don't know much about her at all, they don't even know the triumph that was "The Emancipation Of Mimi" era, to them she's just a Christmas act now (have you seen those "Mariah Carey is defrosting" memes? lol, the disrespect), which we all know is far from the way it really is. It's time for her to sit with herself and rewrite the narrative, tell the story the best way only you can tell it. I want to experience Mariah Carey again like I did when I was a little boy, If there's anyone who can do it, she's the one. Industry politics, ageism and all.

MC diamond edition (99,016)
by T from USA

Wouldn't it be cool for a release of a diamond edition of Merry Christmas? It could include Fall In Love At Christmas, Where Are You Christmas and a few new songs. I think she's at the point now that she could group all her original songs onto one disc, and of course an additional disc with all her Christmas covers (for the traditionalists). Who else would love a double disc MC diamond edition album?

Adele did it first with her Easy on Me country collab and hit. Mimi has missed that boat.

Great minds think alike. I want her to take more risks with her music. The same formula is not going to work for an ever changing music industry. Artists are giving people something new and fresh. We will see what 2022 brings us.

Robert-Anthony you read my mind. I swear I just bought the CD Traveller last week, because I'm addicted to the soulful "Tennessee Whiskey". And just yesterday I was thinking the same. How would it sound if they had a duet song together. Music for "grown-ups" with great lyrics and soul. Mariah and Chris, yes, yes, yes.

I was thinking today that Mariah Carey and Chris Stapelton should record a duet together. I love his southern soulful voice. He is a great songwriter too. It would interesting to see what they would come up with. His voice is buttery soul like John Legend's voice.

I agree this is one of her best club mixes, but it was a collaboration with David Morales, not C&C. ??

When you google the CEO, president and head of A&R they are all real record people. And pioneers of getting hip hop to the mainstream back in the day. They had major success with Alicia Keys among others and are currently getting H.E.R. over big time. This way she could still be linked with Sony for her back catalogue but with 52 Grammy nominations this year I think it's the way to go. Plus Khalid and Kirk are both there too.

Mariah and BTS (99,005)
by T from USA

There was rumours that a Christmas song with these artists was in the works. Now it appears it didn't happen and BTS is doing it anyway. I wonder if the Christmas special on Apple was cut short because she didn't agree to do the single? Last year she had a song with Ariana Grande and the special was given so much money. This year the excuse was Covid restrictions but I feel last year was way more restrictive. I think she doesn't want to play the corporate game anymore. And that may cost her some future success.

In some of the new interviews she says she would like to redo a lot of her stuff. Possibly the whole Christmas album will be done over in her image. She's done like twelve interviews, imagine she put this much effort when a brand new piece of work comes out like Caution? It would have been heard by so many more people.

I just see it as she wanted to make a different version for the Christmas special, we still have the original and now we get another version too. As for getting rid of Walter he would still remain on the original credits for production whether she did a new version or not. The song isn't hers anyway so doubt don't Sony would get much money off her royalties.
I think it's great she's inspired to do new things and change things up for new projects. It shows she still cares and is interested rather than just putting out something that's been the same for 20+ years. As an artist your bound to see floors in past work and want to change it, it's not like she said she hates the whole Merry Christmas album she probably would just have liked the arrangement different for that one song.
