Re: That Mariah power (96,735) (96,737)

Yes, this is biggest year that I have seen for Christmas releases since 2011 when ten Christmas albums were released including Justin Beiber, Michael Buble, Jackie Evancho, She and Him, Glee, and Scott Weiland (Billboard Magazine, 11/1/2011). Before 2010's Merry Christmas II You, there really weren't a lot of new Pop Christmas albums being released. We can probably say MC started the trend for Pop artists to release new Christmas albums each year. And new Christmas vinyl from previously released to new Christmas albums are everywhere in retail and indie record shops.

Can we talk about how fabulous this looks. This looks very high budget and Mariah looks gorgeous. She is going to have a fabulous end of year. She started off 2020 #1 and will end #1.

And even earlier this quarter, JoJo, Meghan Trainor, Carrie Underwood and Tori Kelly released Christmas albums as well, Gwen Stefani re-released hers yet again with new tracks - and those are just the mainstream pop acts. Every year, releasing a holiday set is seeming more and more like an obligatory career move for any artist rather than just a stopgap between proper studio albums.

Terna, I thought the same thing. Seems Christmas albums are now in fashion. MC has created so many templates in the industry.

That Mariah power (96,733)

Often imitated, never duplicated. [It's] funny how suddenly every artist is having some sort of Christmas single release this season from Kelly Clarkson releasing her own song that shares the same title literally as "All I Want For Christmas is You" (yeah I'm not kidding lol) to Tinashe, Jordin Sparks and even to Snoop Dogg. Everyone wants to make bank at Christmas time just like Mariah Carey. Too bad she's got a 26 year head start on them.

Maybe the upcoming song just has the same title as "O Santa" and could just be an entirely new song. Too far fetched? Hehe.

Sugar Plum Fairy Interlude (96,730)
by MusicfanJ from Germany

I started the Christmas music celebration with this one. I love the original melody and Mariah truly sounds like a magical fairy. I never needed the Christmas spirit more than this year. Everything is decorated. We still have the "lockdown light". It will be less shopping and no traveling. But MC will give me joy for the Christmas time for sure. Stay save everyone.

To be fair to RA (and their occasional wild predictions), I have listened to Oh Santa multiple times since the announcement, and - if the verses are maintained - came to the same conclusion: the only way for all three of them to get a decent amount of song time is for the verses/bridge to be split into two, with a third (prob Mariah) getting slightly shorter bits, otherwise it ends up a bit Divas Live/Triumphant. To maintain one verse each, with MC bridge (why have Ari and J on there if they won't get verses?) would be a waste, imo. So, for example: Singer 1 starts at: Oh Santa, if you get this letter Singer 2: I saw them shopping All: Chorus Singer 3: Oh Santa, I hope that it's Singer 1/2: I've been really, really good Singer 3: They say it's unrealistic And so on. (Note: I'm sure Mariah loves the Kris Kringle lyric, so maybe she'll keep that to herself or invite both of them to do it with her.)

I saw your reply to me Andrew and I was so worried that you were coming at me for the mistakes in my post. I won't type a message again after a few glasses of Pinot Grigio. Lol. But back to my 98% correct predictions, I am going to keep making my predictions as long as I can breathe.

MC30 vinyl bonus tracks (96,727)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
For those of you who haven't ordered any MC30 vinyl yet, Music Box has Everything Fades Away as a bonus track. TEOM is going to have Sprung and Secret Love as bonus tracks. I hope MIAM has The Art Of Letting Go as bonus track. Also, I wonder why Caution was listed as "Sold Out" and not orderable. Maybe because the Epic budget won't allow for any newly produced Caution vinyl.

This was good. I learned some new things I hadn't heard before and I love their friendship. I have a feeling the collaboration she is referring to is Drake but I wonder what song from the book he wants to sample? Here is the link.

Oh Santa? (96,721)
by Edward from USA

Today I've listened to "Oh Santa" a few times, just to have an idea what three people singing it would be like. It is definitely a very busy song, like too much happening at the same time. Unlike AIWFCIY, it's kind of a song difficult to sing along with. It's going to be interesting to see who will be singing what on the song. Unless they actually rework the song, I'm a little bit nervous about the final product. Hopefully this is not a last minute cut and paste effort and that they had enough time to create some magic in the studio.

I was just thinking that Oh Santa did not receive a lot of exposure back in 2010 when it was released. Although it made it to #1 on the Adult AC and Holiday Digital Songs charts, it stalled on the Hot 100 chart at #100. So, AG and JH will help Oh Santa become MC's 20th #1.

Good for you realizing that 10 years ago. It was not until about 3 years ago that I realized the grave mistake I was doing, cutting ties with people that I feel would have still mattered to me to this day.
And yeah, Mariah also owes me several minutes of my life back for listening, and trying desperate to like Crapfinity and I Don't (Wanna Know This Song).

Yeah. Lots of people got yellow. I know someone that ordered 4 and they were all yellow. I'm hoping to get them before Christmas ugh. I ordered these on the day they were released and I'm seeing people with UO Butterfly and Mariah's official site version of MiMi and I have neither. Lol. I want them now. Lol.

Just confirmed on Twitter that #MC30 releases will resume in 2021. That's good news.
Hopefully there will be some nice Christmas "rarities" released weekly since the consistency of other releases have been on hold for a few weeks now.

How funny, John: were I to have written that message it would apply to me completely. I used to be that way, say, ten years ago. I adamantly cut people off for perceived slights. But feelings of animosity and hurt mostly always fade away and you find yourself without those people you once cared for enough to have in your life - who themselves have probably changed and look back on their own behaviour as a great mistake. Time is often not a healer but a great divider. I am quick to try to heal or not react anymore. You can never go home again.
Mariah seems to only have friends who are on her payroll and her kids and nephew as her family. That's possibly not healthy but it is her life and I am here for her music and voice. I hope she is happy, anyway. I owe her much.
And she owes me three minutes of my life back for I Don't.
