Re: OHOMO (95,654) (95,657) by Musti from UK
I understand this. I've been crying for 2 days listening to this song. The lyrics are mind-blowing combined with her vocals. But it's more than that. It feels like not seeing your mother or older sister for 20 years and all of a sudden she reappears sounding exactly like she did 20 years ago. This is partially why I'm brokenhearted. I miss the voice. And I miss how I related her glorious voice to my life story. It won't come back, and neither will those moments where I could've changed things. This song is such an unexpected freak. I'm sure the entire album will be. I'm kinda grateful she kept this from us. What a revival of my love for endless love for her. Thank you for providing me with 30 years of incredible music.

Re: Out Here On My Own on repeat (95,653) (95,656) by Bill from the UK
Even her voice breaking slightly on the last "help me" is so incredibly moving. And I'm glad she didn't use a high note, it doesn't even need it. The emotion in this song is overwhelming. I just can't believe this didn't make it onto Glitter but Want You did. It is honestly one of her best remakes and best songs. And to think, the album has unused songs from the debut, Emotions, Music Box and Daydream. Lord thank you.

Re: Out Here On My Own (95,639) (95,655) by Mara from United States
That's exactly it Carlos. It's something about those vocals and it being mixed in with how long she has been in my life and listening to this woman's beautiful voice throughout everything since 1990, therefore being the backtrack to everything in my life. So many memories can be put to an album release or a new number one lead single. It's so amazing seeing these younger fans now saying how they wished they had lived through Mariah's height of popularity and watch her career from day one, and to realize, that I did live through it all with her. So I think you are absolutely correct with what you said. All of that mixed together made me so incredibly emotional and cry listening to that song. It moved me to hear "new vocals" from those days come back to current day.

OHOMO (95,654) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I am not ashamed to admit I listened and I cried. I cried and cried and listened ten times more and cried. I don't remember the original and I don't need to. This is the original to me now and forever.

It aptly comes at a very sad and difficult time in my life and it is beautiful and perfect and even the Glitter-era voice threw me back to another time, long since passed, of great sadness. And the tears only fell thicker.

I love you for this song, Mariah. But I am not sure I can bring myself to listen to it ever again; like all of your vocals I have it imprinted. But I love you for it and I love you. Only you ever break me, darling. But that's enough now.

Party record, please.

Wow, I have it on repeat too. This is magic Mariah. When she sings "who we are" it's heavenly. How could she she keep it for so long? It's easily my new favourite song. So much emotion, that's why I love her. MC is really blessing us with "the rarities" at these dark times. The album will surprise us all. Mariah made this song her own. It suits perfect. Thanks Irena Cara for inspiring Mariah at a very young age.

Do you think the book will arrive in the mail next Saturday for U.S. customers? I have never pre-ordered a book before the release day.

Out Here On My Own (95,650) by Aliya from Canada
I don't even know how Mariah could hide this song for all of these years. It's too insanely good to keep hidden. Does she even know how good it is? And for the song not to make it onto the Glitter album is also shocking because I like it better than most songs on that album. Such a beautiful, perfect take on that song.

Re: Happy and sad (95,647) (95,649) by Edward from USA
Randy's Theme = Right to Dream. I thought you already knew that, lol. And yes, "Help Me Make It" and "Right to Dream" will be part of my rearrange "The Rarities" album when I get it. I have a feeling I'll be getting rid off "Save The Day" and "Close My Eyes", only if the latter was recorded in 2020. I was also hoping for a studio version of "Lullaby of Birdland", but I can't complain. What a difference between "OHOMO" and "STD". I can't wait to hear "She Pray".

Out Here On My Own (95,648) by We are lambily from USA
Wow, I'm in tears.

Gonna be honest, I have never heard this song before or seen this movie. There is no doubt that Irene Cara wrote this beautiful song. Such a heartfelt cover. No wonder she won a competition with this song.

This is easily one of my top 3 fave covers from Mariah. We are so blessed to be lambs. No other artist loves their fans this much, grateful for all we have gotten and for what's to come. But I'm also hopeful we get a deluxe version with There for me, Skydiving, Runaway and some other songs. Lol we are so greedy but I'm truly in awe of Mariah's talent.

Re: Happy and sad (95,631) (95,647) by Randy from USA
Randy's theme. Whatever do you mean? You know what guys, I heard a MC track today for the first time this week and it should totally be on The Rarities. I don't know if you know this one. It's the saddest song about hope ever written in existence. People don't realize I actually write my own songs. Sing along if you know it. This is from my Tennessee album. I've never been there but it has recessed lighting which helps me sing through my nodules.
I lay awake sometimes
Scared to close my eyes
And I wonder where I left myself
And lost the will to fight
And the night melts into morning
Still it's cold beneath the sun
'Cause the fire in me is languishing
And I'm too frozen to run
And every once in a while
There's a distant glimmer of hope
I find somewhere deep inside
Someone strong still resides
And I know she's gonna be fine in time
'Cause, you see
I've got a lot to dream
There's more than this for me
An angel lands with broken wings
He warms me with his eyes
And the ice that's sheathed around my heart
Unravels as he smiles
See I grew up locked in sorrow
So I learn to block the pain
But I won't give up tomorrow
'Cause I've come to life again
And every once in a while
There's a distant glimmer of hope
I find somewhere deep inside
Someone strong still resides
And I know I'm gonna be fine, that's right
'Cause, for real
I've got a right to dream
There's more than this for me
But I keep goin' 'cause every once in a while
There's a distant glimmer of hope
I find somewhere deep inside
Someone strong still resides
And I know she's gonna be fine in time
'Cause, you see
I've got a right to dream
There's more than this for me

Best cover? (95,646) by Musti from UK
No one covers an established song like Mariah. She's done some excellent covers throughout her career. Could OHOMO be her best? I'll Be There and Without You are iconic. I also love I Want to Know What Love is and The Beautiful Ones. But there's something different and special about OHOMO. It almost feels like a conversation. This song was truly made for her.

Can't stop listening to the song. How nice is it to have a new song that you don't have to keep on repeat just so you can like it. Probably the best new listen since #Beautiful.

Out Here On My Own on repeat (95,641) by Lainsky from Philippines
Love to see the good reviews for this latest cover of our queen. If I have not heard the original song, I would have thought that it is her original. No kidding. It was very raw and very emotional, you all have felt it that's why most of us (yes, me too) nearly cried or cried actually and feeling so emotional listening to the entire song. Now I am curious to watch the movie both the 1980 and 2009 and then Flashdance. I have seen the 80s Fame and Flashdance but I was just a kid then. I love the raspiness of her voice here. Goosebumps are real. I love Glitter so much even if the world hates it. They just don't know how to distinguish excellent music from the good and bad ones. So, I am going to imitate Bill and do the similar playlist that he did. Then, I will try also playing it along with her other covers but definitely after DYKWYGT. Maybe because I got so used to her songs bringing a highlight at the end like whistle or high fading note, at first, I wish she could have done something different. But after playing it on repeat, I have decided that it is better the way it is. In fact, I believe this could have been a commercial release and a single. How can she keep such precious gem for almost 20 years? But it's here now and again, I am playing it on repeat. Sure you do too.

Re: Out Here On My Own (95,618) (95,640) by Carlos Jaramillo from United States
I agree 1000000%. Hearing something new in that classic, incomparable, 90s Mariah vocal technique equivalent gave me life. Her voice was immeasurable. It gave me goosebumps I haven’t felt in a long time, and thought I never would again.

Re: Out Here On My Own (95,617) (95,639) by Carlos Jaramillo from United States
What a great message. And I agree with you 100%. I almost cried at being able to resurge chills that only occurred with new releases n the 90’s, when I was a kid.

Hearing those vocals, that tone, the ease, the musical acrobatics her larynx performs, will always be, forever, as long as humans exist, incomparable. That voice was proof magic existed.

On my own (95,638) by Carlo-Alberto from Italy
Here in Italy the song became popular because of the Nikka Costa version. I was young. It reminds of my not-so-perfect youth in a not-so-perfect family. Mariah's cover moves me to tears each and every time I listen to it. It's something about memories and that voice that is the soundtrack of my life since 1990 and my soul. Have a nice weekend y'all.

Glitter 2.0 (95,634) by Bill from the UK
Great to see the message board buzzing about "OHOMO" (lol). I made a new Glitter playlist. In short I axed Loverboy Remix, moved regular Loverboy to track 1, and had On My Own as the closing track. It flows great following after Twister and is a fantastic ending to the album. I'll likely switch out Loverboy with the Firecracker version when that arrives. I still can't believe this has not been out the vault until now. This has been the best MC30 Friday treat so far.
