Oh Terna for once just shut up.

Ouch, Stacey. Be nice or leave.

Bill we obviously have a difference of opinion on certain topics regarding MC's memoir. Neither one of us have read the book in its entirety, and we should wait to reserve our full judgment until after we have read the book completely. But I respect your opinion and feelings nonetheless.

Re: Best written song 90-99 (95,337) (95,347) by Terna from Nigeria
In my opinion that would be "Vision Of Love" easily. A perfect debut song accompanied by a killer vocal performance, with a unique message about realizing a dream and finding her purpose and destiny. When it comes on in a playlist it's always a breath of fresh air.

Well it's obviously "Boy (I Need You)" or "Did I Do That".

I kid, I kid. I think "Outside" takes it out for me.

Re: TMOMC (95,343) (95,345) by Bill from the UK
I get what you're saying, it is Mariah's story to tell in whatever way she wants. How airing your family's dirty laundry in public for the entire world to read is cathartic and healing is beyond me. But maybe that's just me. She is known as a singer and, desperately, has always sought recognition for her songwriting. Mariah's previous stance of adopting a wall of silence on all things personal said all there was to say really, e.g., it's not worth my time to comment on tabloid fodder. We know the Tommy story. And Nick. And Stella. We know about Glitter. We know she's biracial. We know Alison has been a thorn in her side. We know she doesn't know J. Lo.

What we *don't* know is how she came up with that heavenly, gospel flavoured bridge in Vision of Love, her behind the scenes battle to put out the Fantasy remix she believed so much in, how Outside took on so many meanings for so many people, how she unknowingly contributed to the holiday song canon when she (at first, reluctantly) made her Christmas album, how motherhood has changed her drive and perspective, how she worked with Gavin Christopher before Ben Margulies came along, how she sang with those jazz musicians late at night in her youth, how Someday was apparently considered being purchased for Whitney's "I'm Your Baby Tonight" album but Mariah believed so much in it that she turned down the offer. This is what I want to read about.

But, like I said, maybe it's just me.

We are in for a ride (95,344) by We are lambily from USA
I'm so happy for Mariah, she has reached a pivotal moment of her life. This pandemic has been horrible on all levels but the only good thing that came out of this for Mariah when I thinking [sic] about it, it's her spending and creating more memories with her children.

It's not every [sic] often legends get to sit back and reminisce of their lives and actually put out a memoir. Her speaking about her family will make her connect with so many people, not everybody has a perfect family. Morgan is still a bitter big brother, someone made a joke about him photoshopping and he said something in the lines of "You must have me confused with another Carey."

It's not a cheap ass tell all, even though I would've loved it personally. It will be a sophisticated Mariah taking the high road and sharing with us her life. I'm more than excited to learn more about her pre-fame life.

I truly hope she does a book tour with social distancing guidelines of course.

TMOMC (95,343) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
This memoir is MC's story to tell, and the way she chooses to control this particular narrative should be respected until you read the book for yourselves. Everyone has been able to paint a narrative about her throughout her career whether it has been good, bad, ugly, or indifferent. Now that she center stage she should be allowed to talk about whatever she wants to in regards to her life. Are somethings going to be uncomfortable to read? Of course it will be, however just imagine having to relive those moments, and put them on display for everybody else to judge is not easy. Maybe this was a moment of healing for her, and also maybe this helped her confront somethings with herself as well. Certain people will be talked about in the memoir because they are apart of her story, and her journey, we also have to remember that her ex-siblings has sold out to any tabloids that would listen whenever they felt the need so why should she play nice now that she has the upper hand? My point is we cannot have it both ways, we cannot say MC needs to be more vocal, and when she does we cannot tell her what she should, or should not say.

Daydream anniversary (95,342) by Bill from the UK
Apparently the Underneath the Stars video will appear on or around Daydream's anniversary this month. David Morales was interviewed recently and commented that he did remixes for Forever, but that they never were released. I wonder if MC will put out a Forever EP around the same time also?

I'd say Butterfly. It's not my favourite Mariah number but that song does not have a single flaw. Everything about it is perfect.

Without question, All I Want for Christmas Is You is the best. But The Roof is a close second.

Re: Article: Mariah after midnight (95,326) (95,339) by Musti from UK
I wouldn't mind some score settling at all. We love tea spillage and a lot of people will be buying the book solely for that reason. But the fact that she's not including Eminem in the book tells me she's not out for blood. However I could be wrong. I really do hope it won't be some ratchet memoir exposing everyone left right and centre. And I hope she doesn't reveal everything about her family. Just reading that part of the interview about her family made me super uncomfortable.

I think it is item 3445 on this site's discography. It appears to be the same tracks as the US edition, but with a sample of her perfume.

What is MC's best written song from 1990-1999? Without a doubt, The Roof gets the title.

Stacey, you are not alone feeling that way. We're almost the same age and I am feeling this way about her. I also agree with Randy, I feel so blessed to see her almost from the beginning until she peaked, went down and went up again. Perhaps for 10 years now, I do not care as much as I did before about her personal life and music like the new and younger lambs now. I used to be that way lol. I got older, maturer, and knows what truly matters in life. After listening to STD, I was like, okay. The last album I was so into after TEOM is Caution. I believe if it was released in 2011 with proper marketing, no delays, no date changes, etc., it could have been another hit. Don't get me wrong I still adore her. Now, I simply appreciate her music and artistry.

Randy, there's no mean-3 without you. You aren't going anywhere. If I don't see a post from you praising "Right to Dream" every once in a while, to the satisfaction of some, I'm leaving too.

The Meaning Of Mariah (95,333) by Bobby A from United States
If the conversation on this board is heated now over a magazine interview, September 29th is going to be hot like a NYC summer day. By the way, I am hosting a table talk via Zoom on September 29th at 8pm Eastern to discuss the book chapter by chapter. It should be fun to see everyone's beautiful face and discussing TMOM. I am looking for a co-host to assist me with moderating the event. Let me know.

Mariah stays in midnight (95,332) by Randy from USA
Stacey, I agree that I don't invest as much time in MC anymore. I know I stick around to see if she does an unplugged one instrument and powerful lyric album a la Jewel or Sarah McLachlan but I think that's gonna happen around the same time Lil Kim starts to melt. I read the article and didn't feel as though she came off any different than she has since TEOM success made her decide to be a caricature of the public's perception. I do want to hear about her family. I do want to hear about the grenade that exploded in her throat in 1997. I do want to hear about being at Sony post divorce and I do want to hear about romance between Tommy and Nick. The sad thing is Bill is right when he says it's not on her brand to write a tell all. And I'm beginning to realize Andrew was right that this memoir is an exercise in vanity. And if you've watched every single US Mariah interview as I have, you already know what's in the book. Which makes me more disinterested in MC as a whole. Guess I'll be sailing off into the sunset after I read the Self-Written Definition of What I Want People To Know And Think About Mariah Carey. And no need to say it We-Are-Lambily, I know you wish me good riddance.

Re: Article: Mariah after midnight (95,326) (95,330) by Will from Australia
I suppose it benefits her to air the dirty laundry as she can feel liberated at telling her side of the story. She has mentioned that the writing process was very therapeutic for her. Sure we could say it won’t be good for her image but let’s be real, her image with the general public has been in the gutter for longer than the discussion around this memoir will last.

Memoirs / the interview (95,329) by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
I mean it is about HER life experience and things that had a lasting affect on her. I think it’s rather insensitive to tell someone to just “get over” their traumatic experiences. You are in no place to say such a thing. Period. If you’re so tired of hearing about her life then just stop reading or checking for it then. Very simple. All the contempt filled messages and trolling is so tired now. Imagine coming to this board just to be toxic everyday about a woman you can no longer stand.

Well said Stacey. That's pretty much my stance as well. I'll likely always be curious and have interest in what Mariah is up to. She is one of the only artists I've followed for the entire ride. The extra tidbits and such are added bonuses at this point.
