Chick - Someone's Ugly Daughter (95,813) by Elena from The Netherlands
I did not see that one coming. Besides producing, writing and doing background vocals on that album she directed one of the video's, two of Chicks video's are on YouTube and YouTube. Notice the butterflies? 2020 could not be more surprising.

She can do it if you bought 10 digital copies on iTunes on October 2nd like other Lambs. I like the sound of Bobby A. Lol.

If you did your research you would know she doesn't even say her name let alone talk about her.

Is it "Chick" I wonder? Apparently Mariah wrote and sang on a "grunge" album called "Someone's Ugly Daughter" in 1995 under the name chick with her friend Clarissa. See this video for more details.

Alternariah / Chick (95,809) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Still trying to process this new revelation. This tops everything she has revealed thus far.

This kind of makes me see Jagged Little Pill's AOTY win in an interesting light. As Alanis was busy accepting her award, Mariah in the audience may have been thinking, "Yeah, if only y'all knew."

Three decades in and our girl still knows how to surprise us.

Also, is the long-rumored The Crave Song actually the Chick track Demented.

The media keeps bringing her up. Besides, she sampled beats not stole them. When was the last time that Mimi left a courtroom over plagiarism? JLo has a history of ripping other artists off. Irv Gotti fessed up on Desus and Mero., and Usher busted her when it happened to him. Amerie got blacklisted when she wouldn't allow JLo to take her song. There's plenty of people like Natasha Ramos who gotten ripped off by JLo, but where are all of Mimi's victims?

She does go by Barbra, not Barbara as corrected, webmaster. If you're going to be pendantic. [Webmaster: I know how to write Barbra Streisand's name, I have all her albums. That's why I corrected the name from "Barbara" to "Barbra".]

Easter egg / secret album (95,805) by Anonymous from UK
The Easter Egg in the OHOMO video is the chick name and lipstick. Chick, it transpires, was a band Mariah was in. They recorded a secret rock album in 1995. It's super scarce but you can find snippets here.

Re: Cool On You (95,799) (95,804) by Edward from USA
If it's way better than the bonus tracks on international releases of E=MC2, I can't wait to listen to it. From TEOM on, bonus tracks on international releases were awful. I can't stand "Sprung" or "Secret Love", so annoying. I think Mariah is going to continue with "The Rarities" series, I'm pretty sure she has many other hidden gems. I was hoping for "Kick Rocks", well, maybe next year. So great she can serve these tracks to us herself and not someone else after she's gone.

Yeah, I think this is MC's response to Derek Jeter getting married. This is her closure song that was replaced by For The Record.

Agree. It sounds great, much better than 4real4real which made it onto the Japanese edition.

We Belong Together "clones" (95,801) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Could any one of the numerous people who state or infer that Mariah has made several/numerous/dozens-of clones of We Belong Together please relate:

1. The names of all the songs they believe fall into this category
2. The specific attributes of the songs that place them in this category

Re: Oprah interview (95,792) (95,800) by Anonymous from United States
Someone with the enormous financial resources that Mariah has at her disposal has had plenty of opportunities to heal. To me, a lot of this performative victimhood and performance of traumatization is more about selling books and music than it is about "healing". And I'm sorry, but for her to compare her experience with the police in 2001 to police-involved killings happening in the United States is vapid, narcissistic, and selfish.

The vast majority of people with psychiatric diagnoses "heal" in private through work with a psychologist and/or psychiatrist and do not receive publicity, attention, pity, etcetera. And it does take years to work through it. But performing it publicly with the goal of eliciting a pity party is not part of normal "healing". Sorry, but it's not.

And I apply the same standard to myself. I believe that I would have gotten past a lot of my own issues if people surrounding me had not been constantly encouraging me to think of myself as a victim. I was able to get past things with the help of medication but, more importantly, I stopped holding on to grudges, I forgave people (family members particularly), cut off relationships that were not healthy, took responsibility for my own choices, and let go of this victim identity that I allowed to define my life for so long.

I believe Mariah when she says that a lot of this stuff was/is painful for her, but I think rehashing stuff in such a public fashion indicates that the goal is not just "healing". And this is not to say that she should simply "get over it". But Mariah and other celebrities often have a lot of "Yes" people surrounding them. This often means that they are often unable to see themselves in a truly objective fashion. Mariah has had periods in which she was very self destructive, particularly during the 2014-2017 period with Stella.

I've always respected Mariah's artistry. I always knew about the fact that her parents were an interracial couple and found it infuriating when Nelson George called her a "white girl who sings black". But I cannot help but wonder if the narrative being cooked up now is in the service of an agenda, and maybe that isn't entirely Mariah's.

Re: Cool On You (95,781) (95,799) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I usually would hold my thoughts until the whole song drops, but this is just too good. It only takes 15 seconds of a preview for this song to establish itself as a sexy, festive bop. That's all it takes to make you wonder how the hell did this not easily replace any of the We Belong Together clones on E=MC2, or at least make it as a regional bonus track.

Columbia Records/Sony (95,798) by Bobby A from United States
It very good that these big three still make money for Columbia and Sony.

1. Barb[a]ra Streisand
2. Mariah Carey
3. Bruce Springsteen
4. Michael Jackson

Oprah interview (95,796) by Kaj Mandalia from UK
Hi all, I'm sure you're all looking forward to her book. I can't wait. After watching the Oprah interview and being a lamb for 30 years it was heartbreaking to hear the depth of her torment and what she went through as a child. Understandably it still must be raw but this book most certainly will have been carthatic for her. However, we would never be able to appreciate Mariah, her songs, lyrics, vocals and star quality if she hadn't been through what she did. I say this from a good place. I would never hope such things to happen to anybody but Mariah's journey from her God given voice and her experiences in life has allowed us to be blessed with music and songs that can never be matched. There will never be a raw, artistic writer singer artist like Mariah. Her journey in life although sad has been the catalyst to a rare diamond that now truly truly shines.

Sorry for my waffle, I hardly send messages but always reading the messages of my fellow lambs.

PS Andrew I salute you. I love your take on things and I do concur at times.

Follow-up to The Meaning of Mariah Carey (95,794) by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa
This is such a daydream, but I would love Mariah to follow up her memoir with: The Encyclopedia of Mariah Carey Vol. 1

This would be a reference guide to all of her music, released and unreleased. When they were written, recorded, who worked on them, the studios used, etc. It will also include inspiration behind each song. My vision is for this to be solely focused on her career (which of course will dip into the personal) and not so much about personal details that don't pertain to her work.

Mariah comes from a breed of artists with a truly remarkable work ethic, prolific artists. She is extremely hands on in her career and I feel like this encyclopedia would be an interesting guide for more than just her fans, but people that study music and also up and coming musicians.

And since it will include all of her unreleased music, the success of The Encyclopedia of Mariah Carey would create a great demand for the release of all the other hidden gems that she has. Enter: The Rarities Vol. 2.

Why is she still talking about JLo? (95,793) by mimi from Nederland
Ugh, she is a 50+ year old woman and still has grudges against a woman that might have hurt you 20 years ago. She comes of as very childish to still pretend like she "doesn't know JLo" and be mean. Mariah herself also stole beats from other artists, she had to go to court for it.

Re: Oprah interview (95,773) (95,792) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I get where you are coming from, I really do. But, Mariah's journey with her past and her story is hers and no one else's. Telling someone to get over their past and let it go is not what creates a healed and whole person. Nor is instructing that person to stop playing a victim. Healing doesn't work that way: if it did, my work with clients would only last one meeting. It isn't that simple.unfortunately. Changing the relationship to your pain is an ongoing thing and requires effort: I hope she continues to work through it, because the interview made it very clear these experiences are still very alive for her.

"Besides new album releases from Bon Jovi, Dolly Parton and William Shatner, and YG, MC may be #1 the following week on the Billboard 200. It would be so nice for this to happen."

Bobby-A, there are a few things in life I truly love and amongst them are Mariah Carey and Star Trek. So forgive me, but I may genuinely, actually, be rooting for William smurfing Shatner, here. Legend.

"Scotty, I need Number 1 now or we're all dead."

"Captain, there's an enemy album closing in."

"Open hailing frequencies."

"Hailing frequencies open, Sir."

"Spock, what is that hideous noise?"

"I'm not sure, Captain. A weapon of seemingly immense pain. Sensors show it's called.. Save The Day. Shall we raise shields, Captain?"

"No. Computer, set auto-destruct."

A Mariah Carey/William Shatner joke on the MCA messageboard. Bet you thought you'd never see the day. But that may be enough wine for tonight.

Re: Mariah approved spoilers (95,780) (95,789) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"I want it to feel like when I was 3 and the Butterfly album came out."

The only thing that came out when you were three was you. The butterfly was not even a glint in his caterpillar dad's eye when you were that young.

Interestingly, after pupa, butterflies only live for a matter of months; some, only weeks. There is a butterfly that survives only a day after chrysalis. I often think this one of the beautiful messages of the butterfly symbol:

You may wait a lifetime for your inner beauty to be recognised; you may wait a comparative age for your day in the sun - and it may just be that it is only one day in the sun. But always hold on. Always. Your day will come and it sure as shit will be worth it.
