Right, because you even during Divas Live 98 or 99, she knew not to engage too far with Aretha and Celine should've known better. . It's really not Mariah's style for whatever reason.

I know. Those prices are crazy. I can kick myself because in 2013, a record shop in Nashville had a copy for $50. I said that I would get it next payday and that I am the only Mariah Carey fan in Nashville. Boy, I was so wrong. I went back two weeks later and it was gone along with a $25 vinyl copy of the first pressing of Mariah Carey. Are you willing to make me a CD copy of the Memoirs vinyl for a price you choose? I am curious how the vinyl will sound on my vintage Sanyo speakers from 1980s. My email address is mercyjames678@gmail.com. Thank you.

I do take that into consideration and I understand that having that group of women tearing it up on the mic was intimidating, but I can't help but think that even if it was singers that came out around her era, she wouldn't have done it. It definitely would have been awesome for her to join in. I'll just go back to lala land and continue to believe she was being respectful to the elders and that's why she didn't join in. Lol.

It is sad. Like If you're the best pianist and would leave the room if there's a piano. I fear it's not only a nerve thing.

Yikes. I just looked it up on eBay thaare is one selling for $400 and $500. I paid $50 plus shipping. Don’t get me wrong. I love Mariah but it’s crazy the prices once something is out of print.

To be fair, this was the Legends gospel brunch. I think it was more the setting than about the voice. Remember it was Patti, Shirley Ceasar, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, etc ad libbing. I don't blame her for being nervous, but how wonderful if she had grabbed it and went off. They did shade Ashanti during the podcast though.

That makes me sad that a person who was named one off the best voices was scared to grab the mic.

I had it but sold it on eBay when times got rough. I got quite a lot of money for it actually. I miss it.

Could be. I just hope that whoever is Mariah's current social media admin will clean out her 'following' list, because it ain't pretty. Her Twitter account makes more sense.

Here's an excerpt from his book about Whitney, that includes a story about how Whitney and Mariah first met and their subsequent friendship. I didn't start well, but they worked it out. He didn't tell this story during the podcast though.

Mariah's IG (91,073)

I've noticed that Mariah is following some of the most random people on Instagram. Out of curiosity I scrolled through them and you'd think she was hacked and then followed accounts that aren't even fan accounts.

Legends Ball (91,072)

I recently listened to a great interview with Be Be Winans on Jemele Hill Unbothered. Be Be provided some funny backstory on the Legends Ball. You can easily listen to it on Spotify. He made a funny Mariah mention. He said that during the passing of the mic, Mimi gave him a look of terror, "Like please pass me by. Don't hand it to me." In general if you like music or gospel music it's a great interview. Be Be addressed his memoirs and was very forthcoming about his strengths and he weaknesses. We will see if Mimi does the same. His sister CeCe is still one of the best singers ever, with a still pristine voice.

All the best Will, you will be fine I have no doubt. Hero does it for me when I need some self belief. There's something about being your own champion that is really quite inspiring and Mariah captured that perfectly in the song.

Hope everything turns out fine. I find myself humming the lyrics of songs like Hero and Rainbow Interlude as well when I'm under pressure, like a mantra of sorts, especially the "and you know you can survive" line. Ugh, life.

Something personal (91,065)

Thought I'd share this here becasue only you guys will get it.
Yesterday I was made redundant from my job which I've given 14 years of my life to, and I'll be fine because I'm resilient but in my time of need I immediately turned to Mariah's music to get me through. Hero really touched me in a way it hadn't done in a long time and the Rainbow Interlude was played a few times to say the least.
Today is more of a Triumphant listen.
