Yep. A terrible and humiliating situation, for us and Mariah. A well received album and one of her best tours in years, both with universal praise, ruined in one fell swoop.

I wouldn't trust any timelines from that group she had around her. I wouldn't even be surprised if they were going behind her back to send those pics to BT, when they were really supposed to be going to AP. Cruella wanted to push and create drama for MW then pretend to rescue and save... for a fee $.

I can see why Mariah was worried about what Hella and her spawn could say and release about her.

Thanks Andrew. I love Lead the Way, it is one of her best songs and really helps pull the Glitter album together. I never really analysed whether the ending was a cut and paste job, but having listened to it several times now I don't think it is. The fact you can hear her running out of breath towards the end helps the case, and I agree with Special K that she went all out for Glitter. If it was recorded a few years earlier, then it's even easier to believe and she had some great vocal moments during that time (CTTA and Against All Odds climaxes), so yes. I think it's genuine. Maybe I'm naive?

The Daily Shame (89,964)
by Andrew from London UK
| |
|
|
The images of Mariah grinding like an overweight shameless drunken hoochy mama on Tanaka's lap that have appeared in the Daily Mail remind me that she is only a few missed pills away from ruining everything all over again. Today, I am once again ashamed to be a Mariah Carey fan. She has children. What's wrong with her, ffs?

How could I forget the whistle in "Lead the way". It's truly angelic. I also love the end of "Giving me life".

I did go to the Charmbracelet tour too and it was overwhelming. Her voice was just stunning. It was my first concert and I had some doubts that the voice wouldn't be that brilliant live. But it was even better than on cd at that time. When she sang "Bringin on the heartbreak" the audience were freaking out. Mariah Carey at her best. The other songs from Charmbracelet were also even better live. And the band intro was so cool and classy diva. Best concert experience in my life. And one of the best nights until now.

I think everyone knows CB is mine. Lol. I'm not sure I can properly explain how an album that some fans have called sullen and depressing actually helped me, but it did. CB matched how I was feeling at that moment in my life and it came out when I needed it most. After 13 years of being a fan I finally got my Outside and Hero with Through the Rain and My Saving Grace. Basically I finally got an album and songs I could relate to. I never had that before CB. As a bonus I got to see her live for the first time.

Close to your heart (89,960)
by Jeff from USA

Very interesting question. Mine would definitely be Butterfly. It was released just as I was discovering my sexuality and beginning to understand adult relationships. There was some definite pain, but some bright spots as well.
Here's my order of events: - Honey (the exhilaration) - My All (I'm in love) - Breakdown (you don't love me anymore) - The Beautiful Ones (they hurt you every time) - Close My Eyes (maybe I was too young for all of this) - The Roof (years later, I choose to remember the good times)

I can't believe she didn't go to California either. When they first announced the dates I thought maybe they were trying to see whether the smaller venues would sell before they added more places. I was wrong. TEOM was definitely lip city and I agree she was fun on that tour. The only reason I rank Caution above TEOM tour is because she's actually singing more on Caution. Yes there are still lipped spots, but not as much as TEOM.

Which album from MC's catalogue resonates the most with you on a personal level and why?
Mine would be "Caution". Despite that particular album not being my favourite the story that unfolds within, albeit in a different order chronologically, matches my personal life over the last six months so much it is scary.
However my story was in the following order: - One Mo'Gen - Caution - Giving Me Life - With You - GTFO - A No No

It is a true gem but as you mentioned it required many listening sessions for me as well. And I love her in the video, especially with the hair slicked back and the bathrobe, so gorgeous.

It Only Hurts When It's Love (89,956)
by Brad from USA

So interesting to have her reference this song in response to perhaps a fan having Big Nasty's album in the audience? Reading the liner notes to his album, one sees that he refers to her as Snapdragon. They have a pretty remarkable friendship it would appear. I tend to think that speaks of her true character which the general public doesn't really get a sense of.

Seriously, I thought it was so so so boring when it first came out. I was very unimpressed. I think it's because it's so subtle, there aren't many ups and down in the song. Definitely a grower. Which may be one of the reasons it took many months to peak on the certain charts it went top 10 here in the States. I really feel it's a classy song. The subtlety is part of its appeal. And I think the black and white video adds to that feel.

B we agree on something. Not another Christmas album. With another version of AIWFCIY. Maybe this time she'll do a trap version of the song. She does owe us a cover of My Favorite Things. Maybe we'll get a covers album.

I saw MC on the last night of her CB tour in December 2003. Girl was in fine vocal form. I never was a fan of CTTA until that night. I was going through some crap and when you're sitting 15 rows back dead center, you think she's singing to you, about you. In any event, that song lifted my spirits not to let outside influences determine my worth. Oh and if people can hold their breath underwater, I guess it's possible to hold that final Lead the Way note. Till the End of Time, favorite ballad. Lead the Way? #2.

One of the best vocal and ballad, if not the best, of Mariah in her entire catalogue. LTW should have been released instead of Never Too Far back then. Oh well, it's all in the past now. Justice for Glitter has been served. I simply enjoy and play this album more than the TEOM and succeeding albums to be honest.

Girl I saw Mariah perform in Concord, Ca during the Charmbracelet tour. I almost passed out when she sang Bringing On The Heartbreak. Epic. Her voice sounded better during the CB tour than the Rainbow tour. TAOM tour Mariah lipped often and had a back track playing but she was so fun and engaging. You know what the more I type the more I get pissed off because the Caution tour didn't come to Cali.

It better not be another Christmas album. There's no need for it. If they record one or two new songs and release those just for the mess of it I'd buy, but I won't purchase a full Christmas album. We don't need another AIWFCIY extra festive hip hop jazz en Espanol emd pop sugary sweet remix either. Lol.

Special K you are the first fan I've ever seen admit that on the CB tour she was still in great vocal shape. Although I love CB, I agree the album definitely didn't showcase the great vocals she was still able to give. I also agree about Glitter. A vocal masterpiece and I refuse to believe there was any copy and pasting done on LTW. Today is my day to be in denial. Lol.

I think in years hence, I shall come to view With You in that same category of uniqueness as Lead The Way - if I do not already. I hated it at first. But it is effing brilliant. Why did I hate it so?
