Rumour alert (86,461) by Shezz from Pk Mariah has re-recorded some vocals for the A No No remix and it will be released next month. This remix has to materialise if Caution is to have any legs. I'm glad she had the commercial foresight to add Cardi B into the mix along with Lil Kim (if it is indeed in the works). They could have an amazing girl power moment with it like she did with Missy and Da Brat on the Heartbreaker remix. Hopefully they can line up a big video before her Christmas tour starts, if the label supports it. Don't know if anyone caught one of the recent radio clips of her saying that she's lucky if the studio has the budget for anything more than iPhone video these days. I want to listen to it as the artist perceived it. I even love the wait to go and get it. Something to look forward to. No doubt at some point I will have to go to downloads, but I reckon I've got awhile yet and I'm going to buy everything I can so I have a bank of music for when I can't get the CDs anymore. I think Caution, which has already exceeded sales projections, is going to do better than these forecasters are saying it will. Despite being the weakest song on the album (which is telling because it's a good song) I think Mariah sequenced it first because it addresses the drama of the past four years and sweetly tells the vile interlopers to get the [censored] out and beginning the album with GTFO set the tone of the album and works thematically. The teenagers here are the same. Lol. They have only digital music and are listening with their smartphone. But a lot of grown-ups are buying cd's. Elevator moment (86,447) by CMC from NY,NY Yes I was in the elevator with MC as I told you guys the day after it happened. I'm the one that air kisses Mariah when we walked in and then she grabs my arm to give the camera a moment to catch my Vision of Love tattoo, which is in the font of her first single. Mariah loved it obviously. I was happy the footage was released as we weren't sure what was going to happen with it if anything. The moment was surreal and Mariah is magnetic to be next to, especially in a confined space like an elevator. It was me and my friend Taylor, then two other guys in the fur vests that went in but didn't have much interaction with Mariah. Then after a couple trips riding up and down that dude with the moustache jumped in. I immediately recognized him from a video posted here and he was trash talking Mariah, about her clothes and literally her being trashy. I was thinking what is he doing in here, it felt weird knowing he recently made those statements in a video, apparently he portrays himself as a comedian or whatever. I was immediately cock blocking him from having moments with Mariah, haha. Anyway I did try to find the video where he is saying that and like Andrew said it's no where to be found now. It was very similar to a scene in the Adventures of Mimi dvd extra's when the girls are talking trash about Mariah then their up in her face and they fangirl out. Very true to life. Anyway, the elevator experience was legendary, then we saw Mariah at album signing the next day. I'm obsessed with Cautian and honestly did not even expect it to be this fresh, current, yet in a lane all her own that people I'm convinced are going to try and emulate this sound. Mariah is making true music. The album is a full blow mood, and gives all types of feels. I haven't instantly loved Mariah songs on first listen like I did when I first hear Caution, Giving me Life, A No No, 8th Grade. The album sounds like a mature sexy Mariah who's unapologetic. Her interviews are 360 degrees from where she was a year and a half ago. She's in a really great place. Caution solidified a new sound for her in this decade which she didn't have. It set a template and blueprint for her next album or two. The Power Ballads of the 90's are over, Mariah would sound so tired and outdated trying to recreate anything like that. She set a tone for where her voice is right now at this stage in her life. She was was able to create an entire album unlike any Mariah Carey album yet still sound like Mariah. Truely masterful. My niece, who is 17 years old, told me yesterday during Thanksgiving dinner that she loves The Distance and A No, No. I told her the Caution album was 7 bucks at Target, was she gonna buy it? My niece laughed out hella loud and was like, "Auntie, I have never bought a physical CD. If I buy music, and that's if I buy it, I download it off of iTunes, Spotify, or Amazon. That's why I always have to have my phone with me so I can listen to my music." Then I asked her how did she find out about those songs? She told me they popped up on her YouTube account because she has listened to other Mariah Carey songs like WBT and ABMB. My niece said she may buy Caution off of iTunes because her favorite singer Kehlani said on Twitter it was the sh$t and Mariah responded by thanking her. Go figure. I guess what I am trying to say the days of music fans rushing out to the store to buy an album are long gone. It's all about streaming and buying albums off of iTunes, Amazon, etc because it's easy access and so convenient. What drives Mariah's album sales are strong singles. Sorry but WY ain't it. Hopefully now that there is a buzz about A No, No remix with Lil Kim and Cardi B, Caution will sell more than the disappointing numbers I am hearing about so far. (Friday 23 November 2018; 18:55)
