Re: Mariah's next look (83,624) (83,632)
by Matthew from USA

Ouch. Any valid points he had was overwhelmed by the acidity. He even ended his rant by saying disgusting. In Mariah's defence, every singer on her level travels with an army of people. It's not like cousin can get the wardrobe, while mom sings backup, and you get the make-up kit and instruments. So musicians on her level require an entourage. And because everyone in that entourage is getting paid because of the star, none of them will likely do anything to upset that star, including being brutally honest. This is not something unique to Mariah. Her wardrobe does veer heavily into kitsch or tackiness, but perhaps he can look to Katy Perry, Madonna, or Nicki Minaj for classier wardrobes. I will say that I don't think he would express such disgust for those women. As a young gay, he's probably a barb. And this might also be his brand of comedy, acerbic. In any case, I'm not denying that there is some truth to the young man's words, but his delivery was, in his own words, disgusting.

He's a comedian. His profession is to offend. It's not a serious thing. And how can a gay guy be homophobic? Looks like somebody else is a moron, also.

Totally. Some OTT moron who is not only disrespectful, but also homophobic? What a disgrace of an interview, on so many levels. The lengths people would go to get the tiniest bit of attention.

I'm so in love with this album. I really needed some great music desperately and she came through. If you need a little R&B fix give this album a listen. This album is money well spent.

Makes no sense to me whatsoever. Who is he? I don't know him. But hey, he had his fifteen minutes of fame. How many quarter-hours do a twenty eight year long career contain?

Well, as she is in Norway December 1st, and Gothenburg two days later, I really hope she doesn't plan to have concerts in New York at the same time.

Jazmine Sullivan vocal style comparison (83,623)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I read on the internet that Jazmine Sullivan considers her vocal style similar to MC. She said that she always had that raspy voice and tried to pattern her vocal style after Mariah. Her raspy voice bothered her until she learned to use her voice in middle school. I can really see the comparison in her music and vocal arrangements. I hope that one of the surprise collaborations for MC15 is a collaboration with Jazmine Sullivan. Look at what she did for Mary J. Blige's biggest hit in years with Thick Of It. With MC's current vocal tone, I can see how a Jazmine Sullivan collaboration could really make MC shine on MC15. I really believe MC15 is going to be winning praises from everyone in the music industry when it debuts. It is going to be this year's Reputation. If MC15 doesn't debut in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200, I will not make anymore posts on MCArchives. I promise I will keep my word. I return to my reader status only. Top 5 MC15. Lol.

The RatPac, Ratner and Packer, introduced Stella to Mariah. Mariah should've had Stella vetted before agreeing to work with her. Stella's sexual harassment lawsuit will be dismissed as will all of her other lawsuits. She's upset Mariah backed out of the $15,000,000.00 Venetian deal and the other endeavors Stella had lined up which weren't in Mariah's best interest but in her's.

People are still interested in 90's Mariah. Releasing a double album with one disc devoted to her Hits and the other disc to her Misses would allow her to display her commercial achievements and her artistry. I also hope Mariah doesn't record another Christmas album or single. Merry Christmas is untouchable. I pretend Merry Christmas II You never happened. Even if she releases a compilation in Japan it doesn't mean she's not going to release her new album this year.

The type of makeup you are referring to is designed for the stage and always looks harsh in pictures but is completely appropriate under the heavy lighting of a stage. Every person going on television is heavily made up to obtain a natural effect yet looks ridiculous in natural light. When she is out and about, Mariah's makeup is always natural. I do agree on the flat hair though. She should get a nice bob. It would completely flatter the shape of her face and increase her sophistication tremendously. At a certain age the long tresses are just a no-go. She does need a new stylist. I don't mind a glamorous gown once and again but the short dresses are so '90s and often not very flattering. Who was her stylist during the AI era? She looked incredible in the live shows.

I'm hoping they are added. I honestly hate that she makes the US fans wait this long for the release of the NY dates. I just want to plan and know when I am going. I've gone to every year but I missed last years show due to being out of town and am in desperate need of getting out to NY to see the show. It's always late October before they are announced out here.

You forgot to mention that at 48 women usually have problem hearing themselves through the earpieces all women approaching 50 have to get by law to be able to hear themselves when talking/singing to others. You also forgot to mention that all women going through menopause wouldn't have any problem with earpieces and dry vocals if they purchased just another humidifier besides the basic 50 humidifiers all women going through menopause should have, just one more and problem solved. If by splashes you mean getting drunk as a skunk, then you're right. Mariah has always said that touring rendered her voice in shape to go into the recording studio, so, out goes that excuse. And you forgot her polyps and nodules, what kind of fan are you? Any real fan would know that. If she doesn't do something now that the smoke has dissipated and the mirrors are breaking, the only people singing anything live in her concert would be her backup singers.

Mariah's voice and biology (83,614)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
As we've all seen recently, Mariah's voice is on the move again and changing. In the past, we've put it down to a sudden change in lifestyle, to her singing technique, the overuse of it in her early years etc. She can hit some notes here and there, but there is no denying that it has deepened rapidly over the past couple of years alone. During Idol/TAOLG moments, she had the flexibility and could easily reach the high notes. Now not so much. And I'm sure we've all noticed that it's sounding more tired and raspy of late. Of course, that could be because of the recording sessions that she is doing between shows, and it's not getting enough rest. However, I would like to offer another theory, and it is linked to Mariah's age. As we all know, Mariah is now 48 and biologically speaking, she is closer to the age bracket when menopause begins to show itself, which can cause tissue dryness in the vocal chords, leading to raspiness and the voice sounding tired, along with being unable to reach higher notes (there's an interesting study on this on Austrian singers). Here is a link to a video regarding this. Mix that with Mariah's recording sessions, her likings for a splash, insomnia etc. and that's not going to be a healthy mix for it. Of course, this is pure speculation and I could be entirely wrong. But I would be interested to hear your viewpoints as well.

Mariah's next look (83,613)
by Andrew from UK
| |
|
|
So detached from reality she is that she thinks this is a good idea. It just feeds into the narrative of her being a vain diva with all the depth of a bimbo. Here's a suggestion, stop flattening your hair on your head and cover up your forehead. And lose the clown make up. Eyes were never meant to look so dark. Tell the make up artist what to do. Don't let it be the there way around. People just want to be employed, at any cost to you.

What nonsense. Were Mariah to release an album of non singles etc that only the lambs know, the only people to hear them would still be the lambs. Nobody is interested in old school Mariah anymore. She past that point way back.

The message showed up on the FB page of The Mariah Carey Chronicle a few days ago. I checked Amazon.co.uk and indeed there is a new release planned for the end of October. The site mentions a special edition for the Japanese market. Let's not forget MC is still huge in Japan so it could be MC15 as a try-out but it just might be a(nother) compilation. We'll see.

Beacon shows (83,609)
by Atwood from NY

The Beacon theatre has no dates set for any performers November 21 - December 3 and then no performers after December 16 until next year. It could still be possible for Mariah to add a few nights, because as of now she has no shows scheduled for those dates anywhere.

Liron told the lambs on Twitter it's a "Japan thing" so no new album. Maybe a contractual obligation to release a compilation disc of some sort to that market since it's her second biggest market after the US. We will probably get a single if we are lucky this year with an album next year or maybe she will hold off until after Christmas all together for any new music.
