JD (83,133)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

For one millionth time JD is not the only producer she has clocked studio time with so relax, and if we are being honest YDKWTD was one of the standout songs from MIAM it just didn’t not get the proper treatment. If they can create a great mid tempo or a fire uptempo I would appreciate that. A ballad would be ok as long as they stay away from anything similar to WBT. I am sure that they have worked on more than one track let’s just wait to see the final results.

Actually Vision of Love had its key lowered way back in 1996 for the Daydream Tour and MSG special. She should sing it the "Unplugged" way, where it's stripped down to its skeleton and sung lightly and gently, with acoustic instrumentation, rather than trying to replicate the studio version which, as you rightly say, is three and a half minutes, five octaves, and a ten second note too much these days.

Really? I never knew what to think about this topic. I don't see Mariah as the type that would have some sort of signal with a crew receiving the ok to play the track. I always saw Mariah as someone who would lip systematically. A signal just seems unreliable and messy. It could be that whenever she is about to lip something, she attempts to make it seem live by putting her finger in her ear, squinting, and partially covering her face. "Hey Alexa, play We_Belong_Together_Climax.mp3."

Here's what I think: MC has singles in her catalogue that she could sing rather easily in a lower key because there are virtually no full voice ad libs: Love Takes Time, I Don't Wanna Cry, Hero, AIWFCIY, Underneath The Stars, Sweetheart (it's already low and raspy), Crybaby (it's already low and raspy) and then maybe add some of her easier album tracks like Music Box, Looking In, Close My Eyes, Petals, Rainbow Interlude, Sunflowers for Alfred Roy and Right To Dream (shut up Andrew). For the life of me, why she continues with one of the hardest songs ever recorded in the history of popular music, Vision of Love, is beyond me. No one expects Celine to belt out All By Myself In it's original key now or Whitney to have belted out IWALY in her final years. Why is MC hell bent on mutilating her first single?

Ha. I believe the only song that is 100% live these days is either Vision of Love (though I have my suspicions) or I'll Be There. She literally mimes everything else. Amazing how Trey's voice hasn't aged at all. Agreed about the ear piece being theatrics to mask the pre-record kicking in. The same with the tiresome "finger in the ear for pitching" stunt she pulls for every high note. Getting old. She never had to do that all the time back in the beginning (when, you know, it was live). If she did it was for a second to genuinely gauge the pitch and then she'd carry on the note. What's funny is every Tom, Dick and Harry on YouTube who reckons they can whistle (scream in tune, mostly) mimics the finger in the ear nonsense.

Mariah uploaded a photo of her and JD in the studio this morning. Hoping for the best. I really hope they write another WBT knockoff. Hopefully, she has other writers and producers lined up.

Yes to this. I have thought this for a number of years. Recently, it has become so obvious that I think she actually has a button on her ear monitor which kicks in the prerecorded vocals.

I searched for this on YouTube and found the entire show. I'm really impressed with Love Takes Time and Vanishing. Vision of Love was great too. My All takes the cake though, she truly did it in her own way and so beautifully. They put on a nice show overall. Make sure to watch Someday too.

What particular song does Mariah sing that still makes you believe that her voice is redeemable and not at all lost? It has to be 100% live, effortless, powerful, no "Ey Ey" screams, no sharps, no flats, no ear fidgeting, no BS. Go.

She was in the studio during her little time off last night. Maybe this means she's really gearing up. It would be nice if everything is finished so that she could move ahead with a schedule like this: July 20th: first single August 31, September 1, 2, 5, 9, 10: Vegas September 21st: iHeart performance September 28th: album release October 5th: second single October 7th - November 9th: international tour November 11th - 29th: album promo

Playback signals (83,116)

Further to my previous message, in this Mariah touches we earpiece unnecessarily and the prerecord kicks in. Suggest it's a prearranged signal. Also suggest that Mariah is physically incapable of singing a song. Take a moment to understand the gravitas of that. Physical. Incapable. Singing. Song.

I remember I made a YouTube comment back on 2k10 when she was lipsyncing her Christmas special that had her mother on it. Big mistake on my part.

That's the thing. If she was good at lipsyincing and it didn't use the CD vocals we all know and love for any of the songs, then it wouldn't be as big of a deal (although I personally wouldn't like it either way, and don't like it even Celine does it). But people wouldn't notice it as much and therefore speak about it as much. But she doesn't even put an effort her faking it. Like the "Fantasy" incident of her falling off of the box. C'mon. You're already in the hot seat for lipsyncing. But I'm sure that was Dick Clark Productions fault. The worst pulprit, in my opinion, is when she performs "Without You" and alternates between her current voice and the 1993 album vocals that are knocked down a semi-tone or whatever. It's like 2 completely different people singing and not seamless at all.

Iffy one here. Her feature is prominent. That it wasn't resung, a given. But it cannot be called a sample, surely. It wouldn't fall within the "spirit" of the track. I would hope what feels "honest" for the objective and reasonable person would prevail. That she hit number one with the same vocals kinda would to me make it honest that she couldn't claim another number one.

Re: Wise Girls 2 (83,107) (83,110)

Mariah is one of the worst musicians whose ego screamed vanity and ego for acting credits. Glitter was shite. Wise Girls was Mariah quickly throwing out lines in bursts waving her hand around and Doug a thick NY accent like she was a lush. She literally looked like she was gonna crap her pants if someone improvised. Precious was her looking pissed off with a clipboard. There's no "acting" here. Enough of this nonsense. She can no more act a part than she can lip sync her own songs. She only ever worries about how she looks. She is not "all there". Tell me I am wrong, with citation. I'll cite you counter examples until the cows come home. She is not an actress. She was a singer who lost her way. Seriously lost her way. To thunderous applause of the lambs.
