Thanksgiving indulgence? (79,537) by Jeff from USA For those in the U.S., yesterday was Thanksgiving. I'm still feeling festive (and treating it like a holiday). We haven't had a good list in a while. Would the board indulge me? I was thinking today about the songs that I "indulge" in, meaning the songs that I go to time and time again. Mariah really taught Christina how to sing. Christina said she listened to her and tried to imitate Mariah. Along with Whitney. Mariah has lost some of her voice because she has been recording for almost 30 years. Every year of the 90's Mariah Carey put out an album. Plus she would go back and do great remixes. There's so much Mariah can do she's a great singer that in my opinion she still surpress other singers. Her voice is legendary also she is a prolic songwriter. Christina can sing. I will give her that she cannot write like Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey pen game is phenomenal plus nobody does a remix quite like Mariah when you put everything together the voice, songwriting, remarkable remixes Mariah Carey is way more talented than any of her contemporaries. I'm a huge Gregory Porter fan, now I like him even more. Mr. Porter should do a song with Mariah. It's clear Mariah and Whitney are the greatest ever. The other mentioned singers are great too, but today's female singers are a joke compared to Mariah. Her "Vision of love" is incomparable. To think of it, that she was only 20 when she released it, unbelievable. She was not only a singing sensation, and still is , she truly inspired most of the pop and rnb singers today. "I don't know if anybody can protect anybody in this industry." What a statement. I hope Mariah will find the audacity one day to come out with an honest and complete biography. This woman has lived a million lives in a single lifetime. She could be even more inspiring to others than she is already. From childhood to living in a shanty to Mottola and going downhill with the Glitter project. The difficulties and the shame of being a fallen goddess to her triumphant renaissance with TEOM. Maybe she is scared to reveal too much. I just watched the documentary about Whitney Houston "Let me be me" and I was shocked about her drug abuse ever since she was in her teens. She was a soul very much in pain and tried to find happiness through music. But the vultures in charge of these artists' careers and their revenue are never satisfied. With all the revelations about sexual agressive behaviour and abuse in show business one can only fathom what really goes on behind the scenes. Epic only "recommitted" to her in April, with talk of a new album this winter and now there's news that she's signing to Roc Nation, but not of her being released from or ending a contract. Especially after all the articles on Butterfly's twentieth anniversary that acknowledged Mariah's legacy so unanimously, it feels bittersweet that we're at that point in time where we look back and see the impact that this woman has had on our culture. For the upcoming concerts and events I really hope everyone will stay safe and just have a good time. I wanted to go to Paris, but this year my subconscious says no.
