We need a SZA collaboration to test how radio is feeling hearing MC on the radio again. A sample similar to Luther and 30 for 30 would be perfect. Anything SZA releases is a radio and a Hot 100 hit.

Do you think Mariah is respectful towards fans and other people when they spend money to see her on tours not singing live and looking numb or sedated?

Mariah is already a multi millionaires darling. She does't need to do voice trainig. This is not the 90's anymore. She can rely on pre-recorded track in which it's still her voice unlike other singer who used other singer's voice. All that matters is that she needs to look gorgeous on stage with the gowns, hair and make up.

I wouldn't even take a free ticket to one of Mariah's concerts these days, not with how she's been performing over the past few years. I've had the privilege of seeing her several times, and every show was magical. But this current version? No, thank you.

What really gets me is that she has every resource at her disposal to take care of her voice and maintain at least a decent level of quality and range, but like you said, she should've taken it seriously a long time ago. Especially when her voice is really all she brings to the stage.

To me, it feels like a lack of respect, just standing there, barely moving, showing no emotion and no soul at all. She's become more of a statue than a performer. I'm worried that by the time the booing begins, there won't be any way back for her.

I get your sentiment honestly. Mariah will never be a "regular" singer. She is actually just built different. She has too much creativity bubbling up and will delve in the process until 7 in the morning, making sure every note, chord progression, adlib, vocal layering, instrumentation is right.

She will never be the Christina Aguilera or Celine Dion type that just sings. At the core, she just is a creator. That is God's spirit in her.

I commend her for maximizing her gift in the studio. I've gotten over the lip syncing but I do agree with someone here who said at least make it believable. Mariah could actually be pretty great at lip syncing (ex. Fly Like A Bird Grammys, her and Whitney in the studio recording a rare version of WYB).

Now she seems dead inside. I get everyone's frustrations. I think someone just needs to tell her how obvious it is that she's miming and to get over aging. She really doesn't want to form any more lines, therefore avoid any overly wrinkled singing face. As ridiculous as it seems, I actually believe this is what Mariah is doing. It makes perfect sense knowing she is eternally 12 and will hold on to being 12 at what ever measure.

MC is becoming just a touring queen who goes on these mini tours without a new album to support her shows. I don't want to hear her sing Emotions and Hero in 2025. If she can record new vocals for a backing track, why can't she spend three-six months working her studio magic for a new album?

She had stated before that touring helped her voice get in shape. I guess nowadays tourring helps her preserve it, if you know what I mean.

Sounds like you're giving excuses for her. "She's not really a regular singer." Well then she needs to be a regular singer, if regular means being disciplined, getting training all over again, getting a voice coach that understands her situation (and preferably also a voice therapist in tow) and knows exactly what to do and how to go about it, having some form of a routine mapped out for her and seeing where it goes, because having this attitude and being a half assed singer without knowing the tricks of the trade is what put her in this problem to begin with. It is quite sad to see how much singing ability she has lost, literally everything. And then she keeps touring (with which voice exactly?). D'you know how grueling touring is on a normal voice that doesn't have nodules, talk less of one like hers that does - the reason why every time she toured it affected her voice negatively. For someone who's shows are all about the voice, she sure shouldn't be giving any performances on any stage whatsoever with how shot her voice is currently (call it as it is, we can all hear it). Standing there giving absolutely nothing on stage and thinking the audience would not notice? I am a true fan/Lamb or whatever you wanna call it, and Mariah has been getting on my nerves lately, I scroll right past any posts about her concerts, because I already know what to expect. How much more those who paid money to see her in person. She will soon be booed off that stage, then maybe finally jolt back to reality and seek professional help.

Yes, WTF indeed. I would be shocked and not able to believe it. Then I would search for the Delorian to take me back to 93 because 2017 would feel like a dsytopia with mad people and bad taste everywhere.

I want to throw a jab, but that list is actually so funny LMAO. Why is everyone so unserious here? On all seriousness though, you can taper it down to Mariah just having a handicapped voice plus overworking.

She's not really a regular singer, think of her process in masterclass where she hums and leads the band until they get it right, that then doing the production, vocal arrangements, tripling background vocals, staying up until 7 in the morning with the audio engineer. All that, times a million songs.

But yeah I almost resented Mariah for never ever sounding like 96 Tokyo Dome live. But then I think about how her voice is literally heaven sent. It's like you will have the most beautiful voice ever but the trade is, you'll have nodules and it'll be super fragile, but you'll be gifted artistically though. Like everyone will be left in the dust.

To simplify it. A regular singer would be training vocally for 2 hours. Mariah would meet with the band and write chord progressions for hours, humming - overworking her voice. Lead the producers to get things right - with her voice. Then hit up the background singers and arrange some adlibs. Again through her voice. Then keep editing and trying until her handicapped voice is worn out. That would be 10 or more hours.

She did that since 84, that's more than 40 years of just giving it your all. Driven by the fear of being poor again and disappointing her fans and the label.

The inevitable result is her voice being shot. She really did the best with what she got. Everyone needs to be grateful and give her, her well deserved flowers.

Reading this messageboard - I wouldn't count on that. If someone would make a list of haters and suck ups of others, 80% of us would fail to hold "think-we-all-just-want-for-her-to-be-physically-and-emotionally-well" club card.

It is going to be released on the same day as her new album. It looks like she is going to drop the single with the album just like she did with the first Partners album. I guess Coulumbia is trying to drive album sales for a hot summer release. Pop singles from older artists on the Hot 100 typically don't do well on the chart nowadays. The Adult or Hot AC is another story.

Well, I saw Tucker Wetmore perform on Jimmy Kimmel this month. I am so impressed with his great vocals and rapid singing style especially on his song Brunette that I am making Tucker Wetmore my favorite artist now. This is at least until MC16 is released. MC is just number #2 now. Lol. Tucker is the real deal with his catchy country songs that have made for a brilliant debut and changed country radio in 2025.
