Re: Mariah's Squad (60,337) (60,355)

I can't. Mimi L. it scares the hell out of me. What if "Mariah's Squad" actually means that it will revolves on the Bulochnikovs. That title is just so petty for Mariah, like "squad" is only applicable for Taylor Swift. Mariah does not have squad at least as far as I know, I don't think she has an inner circle of friends that is not business related. Whenever I see a paparazzi photos of her, that family are the only ones that's in her side. Brett Ratner is the only one I know that Mariah is really close with on a deep personal level. If that "docu-series" will push through, I'm really hoping that it will not be another lost opportunity because this is the best platform for her to be loved by the public again, I'm afraid that it will cause her more hate and criticisms. I really hate Stella now (but I hope it will change if that show will turns out to be great and beneficial for Mariah), because it is turning out that she wants that spotlight, I can't even deal with it, she is Mariah "freaking" Carey, she deserves the best. Just be yourself Mariah, just be vocal if you have voice issues, show your rehearsals and show everyone that you are involve in everything that you do. I'm not buying that "Mariah is very funny on camera" because I don't want her to be just funny and laughable, I want her to be genuine so that people will take her seriously too.

Reality TV (60,354)
by JAXGH from United States

I think it's a good decision, Mariah actually has a personality, unlike Beyonce. She'll be fun to watch. She'll also be in control of what will be shown on TV. It's a calculated move, she's doing as much as she can while she has the looks. Air a reality show, get new fans and new followers. Then release an album. It's pretty smart if you ask me.

Squad a difference a day makes (60,353)
by Andrew from UK
| |

The reality tv show quagmire, given that I want Mariah to get back to her "day job", instantly made me think of two things: 1. the QVC embarrassment/cheapening of a global star, and 2. the business woman on her tour bus holding up her hand authoritatively insisting, "I can't be seen to endorse anything." It will either be a hot mess or something genuinely stylish, and, hopefully, further, it could be crafted as an informative piece of entertainment which will make her relevant to new/lost markets. Whitney's "Bobby" she is not. My love is deep enough to be assured of that. My Aussie friend, who is coming with me to party at London's O2 Arena (MSG eat dust), happens to have just completed filming a so-called reality-tv scissor-reel to be sold to US and UK networks, and the finished product is so crafted that I was left speechless by the end product. "Reality-tv" and "Squad" is alarming in Mariah's case. I postulate it will change before it goes out. But, if Mariah and her team have a stylish product to put out then this may be fantastic. Mariah may be able to relate to new/lost markets as to how professional/legendary/relevant she is and show, in a positive light, how her team relate to her on the road (they'll have to insult at some point but that makes for great television and is not necessarily negative). This could, potentially, be [censored] awesome. It depends where her head is, and I, for one, am excited (and, in equal measures. apprehensive) to see it. I hope it will be a product designed to portray her as a relatable, global superstar. My main-stay now is this: if Mariah is moving into finding new markets in which to sell new music, I'm for it. And I cross my fingers in support. Mariah has lost, to me, these markets: straight guys, youth, some non-black (please your Lord, it's my opinion and not racist, but factual, let's admit it and not throw labels around) and she specifically needs these demographics to sell. TEOM went global because the music, marketing and promotion brought everybody into the fold. If this is a precursor to doing that again, sign me up.

Mariah squad (60,352)
by ksquarred from paris

|
Maybe it could be nice if the show is focused on the people working for Mariah and all the work they have to do for her, like you'd see a reality tv on a presidential candidate for example. And we'd only see Mariah on stage, or being prepped but with very rare candid moments and very well selected. So that each time she appears on the screen, she'd be the real star we'd been waiting for the whole episode. What I liked about the E=MC2 era for example is how everything was perfectly thought of, every entrance was grand and every tv appearance spot on, it's like she was the queen of England, or running for state. Like in the Say Something video. Since then I've missed that. Mariah doesn't need to be approachable, we have enough celebrities like that, and most people won't identify with her anyway because she's never natural in front of a camera (or in general maybe). She needs to be grand Mariah, bling and all. I think that's what people would tune in to see. She's one of the last ''classic'' stars and should pull a Garbo 2.1.

I'm definitely not team Stella, but it is sexist to basically say that since Stella (one female) loves attention that MC should just give up on the entire gender when considering a manager and hire a man as if every guy is hardwired to hate attention and the limelight. Stella's stunts have to do with her personality, not her having 2 X chromosomes.

I'll admit, I was not fully aware of how much Stella is a part of Mariah's life. She may as well have her kids adopted by Mariah, considering how much time she spend photographing them with her (plus the odd other celebrity, that Will Ferrell one ). Whilst she has helped to boost Mariah's image with the public, I hope that this "Mariah's Squad" title is just like "MC3", and it will actually be changed last minute by Mariah. I also hope it won't be another thing like "Lollipop Bling", where Mariah says that she had no idea that's what they were calling that line, or the cover art for YDKWTD. We've heard rumours/whispers about a potential behind the scenes for her Vegas shows, so let's see what happens next. As long as Mariah has zero control over the angle/lighting thing, and just let's them film her naturally, then it should be ok. But hey, it's ok to dream lol.

Reality not so reality (60,347)
by May from Denmark
| |
|
|
I've just read that the "reality" is not going to be a typical one like others where you see the celebrity sat down at a cafe talking random stuff of the day with a family member and such. It said it's going to be more like a documentary, where Mariah will be filmed having her "squad" following her and making sure she is presentable for the events she goes to, it's like a backstage type of thing, we will get to see how Mariah prepares herself for the stage and gatherings. It's been said that Mariah had camera crewmen at Elton John's bash and that she was the only person with entourage, so they are very likely already filming it. Her European tour will be followed as well, which I think is great.

Yeah, I have to agree that was very sexist. There can be fun fearless females too. Let's not forget there once was a Louise McNally who was allergic to the cameras and probably loves elevator lighting lol. Let's just see how this plays out. If all goes bad there's always Dancing With The Stars, Celebrity Apprentice, Love and Hip Hop, and the Real Housewives, "You may know me for my Christmas song, but I'm festive all year round." Bloop.

Nick (60,345)
by Lee TS from USA

Welp, I've always felt a reality show would be something Nick would do in his long list of things to exploit. So since Mariah is doing it first and I'm guessing Demkids would be featured, I guess they'll be alongside North growing up in front of cameras. Forget PhD's and college education, who needs that when you can be a reality TV star and make bank like the Jenner sisters. With Stella at the helm of it all, this is the end of Mariah Carey. Find me another diva to be obsessed over. She better not drink and slur her words like Anna Nicole. Ugh. And don't pause and stand in the hallway or dare to wear an open back, regular folks wouldn't get that. Whatever.

You are still wondering? Didn't she confirm it many times? "Love me down till I hit the top of my soprano"? Then don't forget Nick talking about how he makes Mariah hit the high notes. So we know dahlin', we know. Side note: I couldn't remember the complete lyrics of "Loverboy" so I went to check if she talks about "hitting high notes" and oh, that song is dirty. Like I can't even. Mary Poppins let lose on that song and got down and dirty. Either every single line is pretty graphic or I am misreading things.

Child we might as well face it. Those weren't pretend confessionals. Get mentally prepared for the traveling circus to be on your TV screen. I'm traumatized enough by that Instagram video when the oldest girl was screaming like a wild banshee is the background while Mariah was trying to talk. I am not here for this.

Stella being a female manager is not the issue at all. Being obsessed with the limelight is an issue that a male manager could have just as bad. The problem is that Stella loves the spotlight and is constantly showing off Mariah's lifestyle like it's her own.

The reality of Mariah (60,340)
by Warrior Butterfly from USA

I'm on the fence the Kardashian's are laughed at, but they have been on multiple seasons/ I hope that the "series" is short and to the point/ I recently re-watched Celine Dion's "Through the Eyes of the World" and loved how it was done. Her concert set, done around the world, running parallel with her visiting each stop and spending time with her family and down sides of her career such as voice problems during the tour.

Stella (60,338)
by Giovanni from USA

The more that comes into place the more I dislike Stella. I already stated how grateful I am about what she's done for Mariah. But this new series is just stupid. Why would fans give a damn about Mariah's squad/team whatever? Unless it's a behind the scenes thing. Which is cool I guess. But I just think Mariah needs a male manager. This is something that's bothered me. I've never heard of a female manager. Other than the manager from TLC. Regardless I'll be tuning in to watch if it actually takes place. Stella know your place and do what you're supposed to do. Which is having are girl booked and promoted for her next album.

That's why the name scares me. She should just have her name in it. No one is interested in her squad. Plus it's not like her squad is full of A-List people talking about her during the show (I probably wouldn't even be interested in that) instead it has only the Bulochnikovs (like seriously are we to tune in to watch pre-teen kids now?) and I am not really interested in hearing them talk. This and this scares me. I hope for Mariah's sake these were just them pretending to record. Stella and her kids are practically living in Mariah's Calabasas home judging by the hundred photos of them in and around her house. So expect to see a lot of them. Honestly, I hope Mariah knows what she is doing. This is a major step especially after she has been so vocal about her dislike for such platforms so she should be careful. Tone down the chaise lounge, champagne splashes, and uber diva behavior on camera and instead show the real intelligent side of your personality, you talent, your insight. Use the platform to re-brand yourself, not to continue only with the "just for laughs" jokes that people are bound to misunderstand.

The name is corny af. We don't give a damn about "Mariah's Squad". We just want Mariah. The title alone screams that this is gonna be the Stella and her kids' show, featuring Mariah. Hopefully for MC this show doesn't end up being what "Being Bobby Brown" was for Whitney.
