MB30 reaction (103,390) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Good morning everyone. I just listened to "My prayer" and got goosebumps when she sings tonight. This is so brilliant. When music does something like this, it's so special. I'm in Mariah heaven since MB30. I also feel like getting this happy 90ies experience back, feeling good. It's great to read we all enjoy it so much.

Workin Hard x My Prayer x All I Live For x Hero 09 (103,389) by Andrew from the UK
Many listens in and I'm won over. They're bloody brilliant. Even - and I never thought I'd say this - Hero (2009). It's like rediscovering Mariah Carey all over again.

Music Box 30th Anniversary Edition - cover (103,388) by Andrew from the UK
One thing I never liked about the cover of the album was that it zoomed in on a blank white face - so much so that, with the lack of quality of the paper inside - I could see the lyrics back to front on Mariah's face. It was a rather blah cover. The new zoomed out version is amazing. This whole thing is amazing.

My Prayer, So Blessed, Without You (103,387) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
Maybe the reason they left out this song because the background music was the same as So Blessed, from her Emotions album. And they also have to choose either this song or Without You, both are covers, so they choose Without You.

My Prayer and Forever (103,386) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I absolutely adore My Prayer. It feels like a sister song to Forever from Daydream. I wish Mariah had more songs in this 1950 early 1960s Doo Wop sound. I know she's got a lot of songs with inspiration of Doo Wop like ABMB, but My Prayer, Forever and of course Hopeless Devoted to You with Olivia are just spectacular and suite her voice perfectly.

Is that video available on YouTube? Or is that something I have to wait until my CD set comes?

Hero live from Proctor's Theatre was playing on VH1. You know when VH1 and MTV actually played music videos. I was 15. I had my back to the TV as I was wrapping the vacuum cord up and this voice started singing. The rest is history.

Brillant rendition. MC can definitely take a remake and make it her own. MC keep digging in that vault.

I love this album and now we have a larger addiction, it's just pure heaven. Nostalgia at its greatest. For me Music Box is Mariah's greatest work and my most played album.

My Prayer (103,380) by Andrew from the UK
It's anastonishing vocal performance. But I can't stop hearing Unchained Melody when the arpeggio kicks in. The song is great but - now don't shoot me - feels very out-dated, even for the 90s.

Proctor's Theatre (103,379) by Andrew from the UK
I have just relistened to both about fifty times now side-by-suide, but I can't hear it. She seems to end the phrase on the same beat the guy in the audience ends his contribution. Can you imagine being that guy, now? On another note: when you listened to Hero at Proctor's Theatre did you picture the audience member in a black and white striped T clapping and shaking his head in disbelief? I bet you did. Now, can you imagine being *that* guy?

Music Box/Proctor's Theatre - my origin story (103,378) by Andrew from the UK
Alright, Lee, jeez. It's not a contest.

I, too, recorded the audio from the VHS of Here is Mariah Carey (Proctor's Theatre) onto a casette so I could listen to it on the way to school and on the way back. And I wore the Music Box CD out and had to get several copies. And that original VHS tape was worn right through, too.

It was very emotional for me to read your story. I used to sit listening to Music Box in my room staring out the window at the sea wondering if anyone else was doing the same: wondering if there were other boys like me. Now I know there, of course, was. But those were very very different times.

I just listened to Proctor's Theatre whilst running down the river and I'm not ashamed to say I stopped and cried when the AYNAF - Extended came on.

These 25th/30th Anniversary Editions are almost like reliving the 90's all over again. I almost feel as young as I look.

I love what you wrote. You have no idea how much your story moved me.

My Prayer and Workin Hard (103,377) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I knew "My prayer" would be good, but I'm totally blown away. Speachless indeed. Her voice, her emotion, the darker tone at the beginning. So soulful. How could this been kept for so long? But I'm so happy to hear it now. A new favourite of mine. And then "Workin hard". How cool, such a good vibe song. I love it. The remix is hot too. The anniversary edition is "giving me life" and pure joy while listening. Mariah's vault is incredible.

I love the new edition. It sounds like a pink gay summer from the nineties. Here is my personal new MB tracklist:

1. Dreamlover
2. Hero
3. AYNAF (Soul Convention Remix)
4. Now That I Know
5. Never Forget You
6. Do You Think Of Me
7. All I Live For (Extended)
8. Without You
9. Just To Hold You Once Again
10. I've been Thinking Bout You
11. Workin Hard (Remix)
12. Endless Love
13. All I Ever Wanted
14. Everything Fades Away
15. My Prayer
16. Music Box (Acapella)

It sounds now fresh and funny.

I might be wrong but the Thank You For Coming bit seems a fraction earlier than the DVD version, like it's an alternative take?

Music Box acapella is just beautiful. It has always been one of my favorite tracks on MB. All of the tracks on disc 2 really flow very well together.

MB30 reaction (103,373) by BFF from United States
"My Prayer" brought tears to my eyes when I heard it. Such a gorgeous rendition and somewhat left field for Mariah in terms of covers. More evidence that Mariah needs to put together a "cover songs" compilation album. She's done so many great ones, and it would be nice to have them all in one place.

"Workin' Hard" is better than either of the Cole + Cliviles tracks on the original album. I can totally understand why Mariah's message on Twitter says she's looking back with a bit of regret on this album... because "My Prayer," "Workin' Hard", "All I Live For", "Everything Fades Away", and "Do You Think of Me" are all better than songs that made the final track list.

I would have left off "Just to Hold You Once Again", "I've Been Thinking About You", and "All I've Ever Wanted" to make room for unreleased songs and b-sides if there was a concern that the album would be too long. I wouldn't be able to leave off tracks 1-7 on the original album - those are all songs I never skip.

Music Box/Proctor's Theatre - my origin story (103,372) by Lee from UK
Proctor's Theatre was my introduction to Mariah. My uncle gave my older brother a VHS called "Here is Mariah Carey". I remember being 10 years old and walking into the living room while my brother was watching it. I was mesmerized. I could not believe the sounds her mouth was producing. I studied this VHS tape, every note, every riff, every hand gesture, every inspirational thing she said. I know it word for word from the beginning to the end. I needed to hear more. I wore out two copies of this VHS due to rewinding, pausing and playing so frequently. Shortly after, my brother gave me his cassette of Music Box (he did not turn out to be such a fan in the end). I didn't even have my own cassette player so I spent most of my free time in my brother's bedroom playing and replaying the Music Box album. Every song was sheer perfection but the two that really stood out to me where All I Ever Wanted and Everything Fades Away. I eventually received a CD player for Christmas with a CD version of Music Box and simply being able to "skip" between tracks made listening to this album an even better experience. I have had several copies of this album on CD over the years as they were very well used and ultimately became scratched and would skip. Eventually, I ripped an MP3 from the CD making listening even easier, I recorded it to mini-disc (remember those?) I even used a couple of aux leads to record the Proctor's Theatre VHS audio to a minidisc and I could take the concert with me everywhere I went. I am so grateful we now have the Proctor's Audio on Spotify and the video on Amazon Prime.

This was prior to the days of the internet and no 11-year-olds where I grew up in Liverpool, England, were listening to Mariah Carey. I had so much to say about how she sings and why I adored her so much but no one would listen to me for long enough. My family would gift me with various CDs from her back catalogue for birthdays and Christmas and then the first album I ever bought for myself was Daydream. Thank goodness the internet was invented and by 2001 I had found a community of like-minded people who just wanted to share their love for Mariah. I have been obsessed ever since.

I am beside myself that this is now on Spotify.

"This is another new song from my new album, called Anytime You Need A Friend. I just wanna dedicate to everybody here tonight. Thank you for coming."

It is the very first thing I heard from Mariah whilst my brothers - who had 'borrowed' the VHS from their friend up the street - watched it in the living room. I walked in to see what it was I could hear and couldn't believe it. I know every single hand movement, head movement, foot movement from the performance.

Mariah, you're incredible.

AYNAF Soul convention version (103,370) by Terna from Nigeria
The attack on the 2nd verse, she went full force on the power after all, its a Soul version lol. I heard this version a while back and totally forgot about it. I swear, Mariah's voice is a whole weapon. And this was her instrument at its absolute best. Nobody touches Mariah when it comes to vocals, her creative process vocally and this album proves this. Thank you Mariah for this gift.

Yes it is the cover of the same song, but much better and boy she sounds phenomenal. The record release was available here as soon as Midnight struck too. Music Box the era, honestly feels much more complete now, as I always thought the album was a tab bit short.

Reminds me of Long Ago. The beat overall, but especially her low vocals during the first verse. Feels like a precursor to that song.
