Edward (39,359) by Steve from USA
Perhaps you meant a different song when you referred to "rap collaborations a-la Babydoll". Mariah worked with Missy Elliot in writing that song, but there was no rapping on that song.

Mariah's new album, collaboration (39,358) by Edward from USA
It's been 4 long years since we had an album from Mariah. It is a long time. I like the fact though that she knows that after all this time people are expecting quality and not a rushed project. I don't care much if she throws a few hip hop tracks in the bunch, but not all of them with featured rappers a la Babydoll. I think she must've recorded more than 200 songs by now, so we'll definitely get a deluxe version of the album. I just hope she changes the album name, since she didn't personally talked about it. This album needs to be on point, but I don't want a collection of nice sounding singles like E=MC2, that album was good, but there wasn't a distinctive theme on it. TEOM on the other hand had this retro sound that catered to not only the young but the not so young due to many of the old samples that she used.

Mariah's new songs (39,357) by Andrew crisostomo from Canada, niagara falls
I'm bashing on Mariah. I just have high expectations for her to be great and successful. I really hate reading some bad news of Mariah's performance and etc. I didn't like Triumphant (my opinion), but I really love #Beautiful. And her collabing with Miguel is perfect. I'm now a little Miguel fan. I'm willing to wait for the release date, because I think this techno fase dies out a little in fall/winter. All love for Mariah.

Worth the wait (39,353) by Terna from Nigeria
It's Mariah Carey we're talking about here guys. It's always worth the wait when Mariah sorta disappears from the public eye working on new music, forgotten The Emancipation Of Mimi already? Chill, she knows what she is doing. I have 100% faith in her. She's gonna bring it like never before. Major amunition as Bryant said. Lol.

Why I love Mariah Carey (39,352) by Cheryl Jones from American
I love Mariah's whispering voice tone because it is touching to the heart, soul, and mind. I love her singing in high pitch and also her low notes. She is beautiful as a person inside and outside. I love my sister. She rocks my world, I don't know where I would be without her music. So about this album everyone is talking about, the album will get finished when it get finished. I am waiting, but I can wait without criticizing.

New album part deux (39,351) by RadChad from United States
My thing is that some of us (believe it or not) appreciate her hip hop flavored songs, if you don't care for them then that's fine. I'm sure there will be something for everyone on the new album so no need to complain and bring the rest of us down. You will get your pop (or whatever you prefer) ballad or four, just because she does a couple rap collaborations doesn't mean the album will be a hip hop fest (TEOM somebody?), there will be a balance. It's okay, take a deep breath. Forgive me, but the complaining just gets tiring for some of us. Carry on.

New album (39,350) by Jimbo from UK
This woman has sacrificed most of her adult life for the music industry. In my opinion she should be allowed take as long as she wants to finish her next album. You don't rush a master! To be honest, I'm glad she isn't churning albums out every year like she did in her twenties. Her life was very unbalanced back then. It was all work. Mariah's in a happier place now, and that is what matters more than anything else because, fundamentally, forget the legend status, the big hair, short skirts, whatever (lambs will get the reference) MC, if you're reading this, I love you much.

Radchad / new album (39,349) by Licia from USA
You hit the nail on the head. Memoirs had no features and people were still unhappy. I am also glad she's sticking to her guns and doing what she feels is right for her music. I'm excited to hear what they put together. I don't care about chart success. I just want her best work. In the 23 years that I have been I fan I never cared about the producers and the writers she worked with. I just want the good music that I know she is still capable of making. Rap collaboration or not, if it's a good song it won't matter who's featured.

B R Y A N T (39,348) by Blake from USA
I pray you are right. That is exactly what I want to hear from Mariah's team. I hope she reinvents the wheel. Thank you for posting that, only I have to ask is this coming from you or an actual source?

The Art Of Letting Go minus #Beautiful (39,347) by Ryan from the Philippines
If Mariah has to delay the album release until December or (sigh) next year, I think she needs to find another carrier single. Something catchier than the abovementioned track. Let it fall as stand-alone single like Triumphant and Almost Home, atleast it will be her biggest non-album single to date. This too much waiting is killing me, yet I'm not loosing faith. I hope the revamp she's doing right now to the album will take it a notch higher than TEOM or E=MC2 or even Memoirs only.

New album (39,346) by CHAZ from USA
MC is coming with a vengeance. Possibly bigger than "The Emancipation of Mimi" comeback. With a huge disappointment with "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", "Triumphant (Get 'Em)", and the not even Top 10 single "#Beautiful", not to mention that Ariana Grande is said to be the "new Mariah", she's coming with major ammunition. And all of us lambs cannot wait.

On the criticism - Carla (39,345) by Paul from USA
Just because people are criticizing her musical direction, doesn't mean they are "bashing" her. There are more ignorant people out there who are just outright mean to her and want to see her fail. Everyone who frequents this site to state their opinions are all fans who adore her. Whether they prefer her R&B stuff, Hip-hop stuff, Pop stuff, Adult Contemporary stuff, and so on. Mariah has a variety of music, catered to different audiences. It's okay not to like all her music.

Marc Shaiman (39,344) by Anonymous from
Hey Trish, I just want more collaborations with Marc Shaiman too. They do magic together. "Christmas time is in the air again" is one of her best songs ever. I want some songs with a sound like that one. I'm so tired of Jermaine Dupri and The Dream productions. I mean, they are good but try something new MC, [...] in a good way. Her music has turned a little predictable in the last years. But you know we have to keep on waiting for that album.

MC album (39,343) by RadChad from United States
Some are dismayed at MC having rap collaborations on the album and my question is why? Memoirs didn't have a single collabo on the original version and if memory serves me correctly it's her worst selling album to date. So I say to MC, follow your heart musically and do you. I'd much rather my favorite artist stay true to themselves versus doing what other people think they should do. Besides, the names attach to this album aren't just any kind of ol rappers, these guys are poets and lyrical geniuses, I look forward to and welcome it with open arms. But hey that's just me. I just want something real and from the heart, I want to feel something when I listen to this album and one think I know is that MC is definitely digging deep for this one. The Art Of Letting Go says it all to me.

I can't wait for it (39,342) by Carol from Spain
Mariah is coming, I do believe. I don't understand all this critcism to her work lately - too much hip hop, too many feat and so on. It's not like she has something to prove. She is taking her time, good for her and for us. Why are people so afraid? what are people afraid of? Off with the criticism, will you? If she releases the album and it goes to number one, everyone criticizing now will say it was worth the wait and how wonderful she is. If it doesn't, then everyone will bash the woman down - typical for some "fans". And yes, you should critcize, should demand, but go light on it please: the woman is enjoying motherhood, her marriage, had a serious injury. I just believe she, at least, deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Mariah feat rappers. (39,341) by Andrew crisostomo from Canada, niagara falls
I hope the songs Mariah features rappers are high quality songs. TGIFY remix with Nas is one of my favourite songs so I hope it is something like that. I wasn't that into Triumphant. Seems like not much work was put into it overall. Lets get an rnb song featuring rappers, not rap songs feat Mariah.

Special K (39,340) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I'm very excited. Fair play to Mariah for sticking to her guns. If we get anything similar to her best R&B work, I'd be very happy. And you know Nas doesn't just jump in and rap on any old crap. Rappers like Nas show me that there will be a few nice ballads on the album too. He's the kind of rapper that can be nicely infused on an album with ballads and up tempos.

Looks like same ol' same ol' (39,339) by Trish from USA
I had high expectations for the new album, but with each new picture of Mariah in the studio my hopes are fading. I'm not opposed to a few collaborations or remixes with rap verses, but I was really hoping we'd get an album with a good chunk of songs co-written with Walter Afanasieff and maybe some more work with Marc Shaiman. I wish Mariah all the chart success in the world, but it'd be wonderful to have some truly meaningful classics that I'll still listen to in 10-20 years. There have also been some successful ballads out lately (Stay, When I Was Your Man) that Mariah could blow out of the water.

MC and Nas (39,338) by Gerald from USA by the way of NYC
Now I can't wait to hear this song. TGIFY remix has always been one of my favorite MC remixes. To be honest, I can't wait to hear this album. The suspense is killing me. A four year wait is the longest we have waited for a MC album and something tells me that the wait is well worth it. Bring it on home MC, we are impatiently waiting. Well at least I am.

[...] (39,336) by Panos from Greece
I believe it would be great if Mariah reduced her whispering on this album. I don't mean stopping it. It's magic and the best from every other singer I heard, but when it's used too much it gives me the feeling that she can't use her rest range, not due to vocal problems, but because she doesn't like to belt and uses her full potential. In many songs, not all, since mostly 2002, I almost get bored in 75% of the song and suddenly at its climax I'm like "...". And then the song finishes and I find myself yet happy but sort of wanting more, some more verses with full voice. This doesn't happen constantly, but unfortunately for me at high frequency. But I know she is human, she can't satisfy everyone. She stays true to what she likes. I'm just saying. Last but not least I kinda miss her vocal showcase of low notes ascending to high ones and vice versa that she did specially in her first two albums ("You're so cold" intro, "Alone in love" etc.). It's like doing warm ups but using them in songs too, not only before singing. I think it would also help in further warming her voice preserve and showcase it propperly during concerts. It's just a thought I wanted to share. After what her husband said that she refell in love with her first two albums, I think it's possible. I'm also glad that she collaborates with Nas again. It will be [...].

Matt (39,334) by Will from England
I 100% agree. I'm a bit tired of these meaningless songs that have no depth to them. Adele is probably the closest the music industry has gotten to a really moving, successful ballad recently. I hope Mariah can knock it (and the world) out the park with a moving ballad soon!

Re: Balad feedback (39,333) by Ryan from the Philippines
I couldn't agree more. P!nk's "Just Give Me A Reason" is the only #1 Hot 100 song that really hooked me up this year. All the songs that went up to the top didn't make sense anymore. I think Mariah doesn't need another inspirational ballad yet. She just had "Almost Home", yes the song was good but with less promotion, it will stall. IMO, she just has to do a powerful love song with a very good and deep meaning that will touch the hearts of many. Overproduction and synthesizers, artificial band can also kill so she just has to stick with the piano, violins and drums.

Matt Summers / ballandes (39,332) by Joanna from Poland
Matt, I concur with you when it comes to that matter. I'm sure that in a moment someone here will post that nobody listens to ballandes any more, but I think it's not true. I listen to ballandes everyday and so do all my friends. Of course, we listen to old ballandes as in current music industry the new ones are few and far between. I am not stating that Mariah should fill her all album with ballandes and inspirational songs, but I believe balance is good, and a good album should be diverse. There is a hot debate that Mariah's voice has changed, but her lyrics has changed as well. I love Mariah's fun and laidback songs, but I miss songs like Close My Eyes, Petals, Outside, I Am Free regarding lyrics. I know changes are inevitable, and I still love and support her and looking forward to the new album.
